Exactly one week after the Feds had done their raid on 'the Loft' in search of Jack O'Conner and Piper Blair it opened it doors again. The whole show had only brought more attention to the busy establishment. So tonight it was overflowing with a mass of people.
Noah, who usually spend a lot of time at his office, before ten o'clock, used the time to check in with all his staff to make sure they were doing okay. The barkeepers and service staff was very busy and tonights DJ managed to pick the kind of music that had everybody dancing and drinking heavily. With a satisfied glance Noah stood next to one of his long time staff members, a blonde bar keeper, named Stacy who was covered in tattoes wherever her body wasn't covered with fabric, which was a lot of skin to show off.
Every now and then he cast a glance towards the entrance to see who was coming in although he'd given his bouncers the description of not only the brunette Fed but also Mia. So none of them had shown their face, so he leaned his back on the counter, to stand and watch for a bit.
A night like this was extremely lucrative. It almost made his 'side business' unnecessary, which was a nice feeling...as long as it lasted. Unfortunately not all nights were like this.

Mia recalled her last conversation with Brian about how he would have to stay at Mira´s place in order for him to spend time with his kids. She told him not to worry that he would see him the next day. She placed her phone back in her bag and added a few touches to her makeup. She knew she was taking a risk by going over there. But, she had to. She would not spend much time, it would take her only ten minutes or even less just enough time for Noah to know she didn’t need the bike and she´d be out of there. She double check her purse, big enough to fit a second set of fresh clothes , it was impossible for her to prevent the smell of cigarette get stuck in her beautiful long hair, besides personal items and makeup remover, a pair of flip flops were also thrown in her bag. She walked downstairs and out the door to the Charger, placing the bag in the back seat. She hesitated for a few moments. “You can do this,” she said out loud and drove to the bar. *** It wasn’t hard to get in the bar and it didn’t take long for her to find Noah relaxing on the counter. “Nice place,” she smiled at him looking around the bar.

At around 10 pm the woman he'd been waiting for finally entered the buzz of the club. She made her way trhough the busy crowd until she spotted him complimenting on the club. "Yeah, thanks. I try my best but it's a team effort." He handed the compliment on to his staff. The blonde tattoo girl behind him smiled a little. Wondering on how friendly terms they were Noah refrained from hugging Mia and only offered her a smile. "Thanks for coming." He purposely looked past her towards the door and then asked. "Are you here alone?" Then he stepped aside so she could get to the bar and added. "What would you like to drink, Mia?" It was actually really nice seeing her hear because Noah had expected her to not show after the incident at the hospital. Most decent girls would stay as far away as they could.

She turned to see a blonde girl with tattoos and caught the smile between her and Noah and turn to face him again ignoring the question if she was here alone, it was pretty obvious she was “Actually, I won´t be here for long. So, no drinks for me tonight,”
“I would really love to stay and chat for hours but I just came here to tell you that you can have your bike back. You didn’t turn back when I shout your name that morning you decided to pay me a visit,” she searched for the keys of her bike in her jeans pocket.
“Shoot. I was in such a hurry that I totally forgot the pink slip and the keys at home but you know where to find me and I´ll give them to you,” the music was loud, people dancing, some of them drinking and pretending to dance, they look so wasted they couldn’t even stand up from the floor.
“I really have to go now. I´m sorry I can´t stay,” she made her way to the exit not turning back just like Noah did. ´Well, that went well´ she thought as her ears finally had a break from the music inside the bar. She made her way to where the Charger was and got in pulling out her cell phone from the bag, no calls or text messages from Brian. Good.

Noah had been waiting for Mia for a while and now she was gone faster than he could actuallzy have a conversation with her. On top of that she wanted to give back his bike, which was supposed to be a huge thank zou considering what it meant to him. She had to know that. At least she forgot the pink slip and couldnät return it right away. Against his better judgement he followed her outside to the Charger, past his bouncers and the people in line who were waiting to get inside. Some girls were calling his name hoping to gain entry that way but he was focused on Mia. "Hey, Mia. wait..." Once he caught up with her he stopped making sure not to get into her personal space or touch her because she had been very uncomfortable that day at the hospital. "C'mon, surely you haven't made your way into town and got nicely dressed up just for a one minute conversation...I think you can't even call that a conversation." He let his gaze wander past her at the Charger. "So you prefer muscle cars to bikes. I remember that car...didn't it belong to your father?" He started walking around and admired the great condition it was in. "Somebody put some efforts into this thing." He then turned back to Mia who looked pretty cold in her sleeveless shirt. "C'mon back inside. Promise I won't bite."

He was right about not having a conversation at all, but she couldn’t stay. Not tonight. She looked at the steering wheel as much as she wanted to get rid of “the curse” she couldn’t, not when this car belonged to her father then to Dom and now it was up to her to take care of it.
“Yes, it belonged to dad, then Dom and he was the one putting the extra effort,” he tried to persuade her again to go back inside and keep chatting but there was no way she could do that.
“I would love to stay, really, but not tonight.” The rumble of the Charger caught the attention of the girls still waiting and wanting to get inside the bar. “I am sorry but I promise I´ll be back some other time and I will stay longer than 5 minutes, I promise” she held up her hand, it was a promise; she wasn’t the one to brake promises.
“Goodbye Noah,” she offered him a smile and drove away from the bar. She felt bad for not staying but Brian was at the back of her mind. Now it was time for Plan B. She couldn´t go home all dressed up and with makeup on, so before going home she stop at a Starbucks, good things it was still open, she had only twenty minutes to change clothes and remove her makeup.
***
After ordering her favorite drink she went to her car and relaxed a little now that she wore shorts, a tank top and flip flops, she looked a second time on the mirror of the Charger to make sure she was ready to go home. No one would know she was at the bar unless Noah opened his mouth which she hoped he didn’t. Even Brian wouldn’t know, and it looked like he wasn’t even home as she parked just outside her home.

Noha didn't want to let Mia drive away that easily but at least she made a promise to come back. "Drive careful, Mia." He stated already developing a soft spot for the brunette. once she was gone he reminded himself that there was a whole row of girls waiting in front of the club just waiting for him ..and not just to gain entry. "Hey, girls. You look beautiful tonight. I like that dress." he motioned for one and then told the bouncer to let a few of them in.
--
Brian had a pretty good time with his kids if it hadn't been for Mira giving him the 'judging by your face you've gotten into trouble again. Can I really give you our kids?" Brian disregarded most of her words but eventually he spoke up. "You know that I'm not irresponsible and I will always take good care of them, so just start giving me some credit. That would make it easier for all of us."
Mira eventually went out and left him alone with the twins. After feeding them and reading a story Brian placed them in their cribs and sat down to watch some TV in the living room. Mira came back at 11pm from the evening class she was taking, so Brian hugged her-even though it was a stretch- and then kissed the babies goodbye. "Call me soon. I'll take them any time."
With that he left to come back to the Fort maybe half an hour before midnight. By now he had his own set of keys and let himself in in order not to wake Mia up.

Once she make sure he wasn´t home, she took a quick shower and went straight to bed. This was too easy, for her to hide things, not that she wasn´t good at hiding things from people, actually she wasn´t that great. Dom always knew something was up, same thing with Brian, both of them had their ways to know what she did or what she was about to do by only looking at her. But he wasn´t even home yet, so that gave her a few minutes to really plan for a quick story just in case he decided to ask. She simply would say at the last minute she decided to go to Starbucks and the proof was on the empty cup downstairs on top of the counter. What she forgot to do was mention to Noah not to open his mouth. Brian couldn´t know she was at the bar and even if he knew it didn´t take her an hour to get home, it only took her thirty minutes, she did not drink, not when she was the one driving, she didn´t go to flirt with Noah, she just went to his bar to let him know he could have his bike back. There was nothing to be afraid of. She pulled the covers spreading her long hair on the pillow and falling asleep fast.

Since Mia was already in bed Brian figured he'd simply sneak in behind her as well and cuddle up to her. the night had been fairly good and that would round it off. He let his clothes fall onto the floor and then snuk under her cover giving her a light kiss on the shoulder. "Night." Then he closed his eyes as well wondering whether he'd be able to put two little cribs in the room at some stage.
OOC: Sorry it's so short, didn't know what to do with it. Start a new one maybe?

*** The sound of the crickets woke her up and she eyed the window noticing it was still dark outside. She tried to adjust her pillow but stopped hearing the soft snores coming from Brian who was next to her and had his arm protectively around her waist making it hard for her to move, instead of going back to sleep she moved closer to him feeling the warmth of his body.
Mia thought about where she was hours ago and knew how Brian would react if he knew where she was, who she was with. Just thinking about it made her heart rate go up, she tried to go back to sleep but it became impossible. Should she tell Brian what she did? She was a bad liar but sometimes it was necessary to lie. But, was this one of those occasions where she had to do that?
She sighed and kept staring at the window like that was going to help her go back to sleep.

It was still too early to wake up but for some reason Brian woke from his good night sleep. It might have something to do with Mia's uneven breaths and slight movements. Sleepily Brian opened one eye and pulled her closer to him. "Do you have to work today? Or why are you awake?" Still tired he closed his eyes again. Maybe they could both go back to sleep. There was something about the way she would not follow his gentle tugging that made Brian lift his head and brush back a few strands of her long, dark hair that had fallen across her face. He placed a kiss on her cheek.
Across town the man Mia had met was just crawling under his blankets after a long night at the club that he used to do business, flirt, socialize and drink a little. Still the brunette that had showed up to return his bike returned to his mind when he pressed his face against the pillow. She definetly wasn't the little girl any more that he had once known.

“Didn’t mean to wake you up,” she softly said to him who rubbed his eyes and remove some of her long hair from her face to give her a kiss. “No, I don´t go to work tomorrow. It´s Saturday, remember?” if only he knew why she was so restless…
She turned so she was facing him and kissed his lips. “Go back to sleep,” and he did in a second. Time passed by and she didn’t go back to sleep. It amazed her how something so harmless could have her toss and turn at night. There was only one way to make her feel better and that was telling Brian.
But… it was complicated to do that, it wasn’t that easy. Of course it wasn’t. It wasn’t easy because she knew how he was going to react; she didn’t want to piss him off. Well…you should´ve thought about that before you went to see Noah. A voice whispered inside her.
In her mind all she saw was the different ways Brian could explode, or maybe she was overreacting? Of course he would be angry but he wouldn’t yell at her or follow the different scenarios that ran through her head…at least that´s what she thought.
A 50/50 chance things could go wrong or not.
It wasn’t until the sun came up when she finally gave in to exhaustion and the thoughts and the voices and the headache finally went away.

The sun was already high in the sky when Brian and Mia finally woke up. Outside you could already hear kids playing in the streets. Some were kicking a ball around, some riding a skateboard. Briefly Brian wondered whether the babies were awake already as he pushed back the white curtain to have a look at the street. They had to be. "I wonder if my kids are going to ride skateboards and play ball. I can't wait for them to start walking." It was still far away and he was hoping to see them more often by then. "I'm going to teach them...I really would like them to live here, part time." Mia was still half asleep when Brian pushed his covers away. "I'll make coffee." Both naked feet on the ground he scratched his back and then got out of bed. Only in boxers he made his way to the kitchen, that was pretty darn cold on this saturday giving away the arrival of fall. With it a sense of peace had arrived. No greater catastrophy other than Jack being an ass as usual and getting himself in trouble. Brian himself seemed to be halfway fine though. Maybe he could even get on better terms with Mira.
The coffee machine was gurgling away in the kitchen when he went to the stairs and called Mia's name. "Coffee's ready."

It was a nice way to wake up to the laughter of kids, she felt Brian get out of bed and she slowly opened her eyes as he walked to the window to take a better look. The corners of her mouth curled up in a smile as he imagined both of his kids starting to walk, the shaky steps as they grabbed the sofa or something else to make them stand up, they were not so little anymore but she couldn’t wait to see that.
Her heart skipped a beat. Did she hear right? He wanted the kids to live with them part time? Absolutely! “I can´t wait to see them walk too,” her voice came out groggier than she would´ve like to.
She nodded hearing the words ´coffee´ maybe that would help her to wake up. Maybe then would be a good time to talk to him…gosh, she didn’t know what to do!
When she heard Brian calling her she removed the covers and took his long sleeve shirt that was on the floor near the door. The shirt covered her and stopped just below her knees. His smell all over the shirt, perfume engulfed her and she had to remind herself to keep walking, the long sleeves shielding her from the coldness that this morning brought.
He would know the truth. The questions would come as to why she was unable to sleep. There was no way to lie, he knew every expression on her face. She finally entered the kitchen taking her cup of coffee, taking a quick sip loving the sensation of the hot liquid making its way down her throat.

With both hands behind him on the counter Brian watched Mia sit down in the long sleeve shirt and blow on her coffee. She looked good but tired. "Slept too long? You were already in bed when I cam home last night. It didn't go so well... Mira didn't want me to take the babies with me because she didn't like my face." He circled his face indicating the black eyes that were forming due to his broken nose. "Said I get myself in too much trouble..." He thought about that for a moment and took his own coffee from the counter, pulled one of the chairs out and sat down next to Mia. "Do you think she's right? Am I a trouble maker?" Brian knew he was in a way, then again he tried his best not to be. What Mia thought was important to him though.
Changing the subject that suddenly became uncomfortable he looked at her. "Like the coffee?"

“Of course she isn’t right,” she shook his head, okay maybe he was a little bit of a trouble maker but not because of what he did but what other people did to him, he wasn´t the kind of person to go and look for trouble, trouble was the one finding him and he just defended himself.
"Like the coffee?" She heard him say. “The best one I´ve ever had,” she covered her mouth as she yawn. She stayed quiet for a minute, it was now or never, this was her chance to let him know where she was hours before he got home.
“Remember how difficult it was for me to go back to sleep a few hours ago?” suddenly her lips felt dry and she had lick them, a clear sign of how nervous she was to tell him. She looked down and took his hands.
“Yesterday, I went out for only a few minutes to "The Loft" to talk to Noah. To just let him know that he could have his bike back and was out of there, he wanted me to stay but I didn´t, and came straight home.”
She never let go of his hands and gave a light squeeze. “Please, don´t be mad at me…”

The coffee wasn't that good. Not exactly Starbucks quality but okay. Something was up, especially since Mia looked at him in avery strange way, like she was about to say something. Taking a sip Brian waited for whatever it would be. What she actually said seemed to make her very uncomfortable, which Brian didn't understand. Why would she feel so bad about trying to return the bike. "I'm not mad." He looked at her a little surprised. "You're better off returning that thing. I mean I'd enjoy riding it but I think you'd better not owe that guy anything. He seems 'weird', especially when you tell me he's been running from the cops." He took another sip and watched her reaction. "Why didn't you take me along? That would be safer." Or maybe not, knowing that Brian might not be too nice to that man. "It's still sitting outside...what happened?" He reached for her hand across the table.

"I'm not mad." He didn’t know how good that made her feel. “You´re not?” he actually seemed surprise when he said he wasn’t mad at her at all.
“I wasn’t sure how you were going to react, after you told me not to go, and I didn’t want to tell you because you were so excited to see the kids. Besides, that day Noah came to the house you seemed uncomfortable,” she did ask him when Cole was with them, but he refused and let her know not to go by herself to the bar.
“He said it was a gift but I clarify to him that he didn’t have to do that and give me his bike, he wanted me to stay and chat more but I walked out and let him know I really had to go,” and she did omitting the part where she promised she would be back, she wasn’t the one to break promises. Who knew? Maybe next time she would go with Brian.
“I really hope he comes and takes his bike back,” taking one quick sip from her coffee. She placed the cup next to his. “Thanks for the coffee, babe” she gave him a quick kiss and embrace him for a few seconds.

Mia's explanation seemed valid but still left some questions open. Why did she go to the club alone? Why didn't she listen or at least talk to Brian? "I'm not mad but I'm wondering why you didn't listen to me. You don't know why the police followed him. You could have put yourself in danger. I'm not mad, just worried." Brian explained his reaction.
When Brian heard that Noah wanted Mia to stay and chat he knew exactly why he didn't like the guy. He was up to something. Most likely had the hots for her. Why else would he give her his bike? "You should really stay away from that guy, Mia. What do you even know about him? He could be mob for all we know. I'll bring him back the bike and take the bus home, of you want me to."
Mia tried to change the subject back to the coffee but Brian wasn't about to give up that easily. "Promise me not to go alone anymore? You don't have to take me but take somebody, Cole, your brother..." 'Somebody who can kick some ass'. Another quick sip of coffee and Brian squeezed Mia's hand.
Noah's day started a little later than the average work day but once he had a coffee and donut at a local cafe and went for a run he decided to call Mia. The number had been easy to find out considering it hadn't changed over the past decade. He let the phone ring....

He said he wasn’t mad but even as he spoke, she could still see in his eyes. Yes, he was worry too but she didn’t buy it he wasn’t mad at her. She hated to admit he was right. She didn’t know much about that guy, still she hated she had to stay away from him but Brian was so right, plus she wasn’t stupid and Noah seemed damn interested to talk to her, in a friendly way? That was yet to be seen…
“You are not going to return that bike, let him come and take it back. I won´t be alone…” She looked away when he started to make her promise she wouldn’t go alone to the bar or anywhere near him. She wished she had the strength to argue back but she let it go this time.
“I promise…” she simply said, it didn’t sound convincing as the words left her mouth. Their talk was interrupted by her phone going off. There was no way someone at work was calling her not when she eyed the phone and the ID number was unknown. It had to be him. Still, she didn’t pick up.
