Monte Carlo, Monaco. Who would have ever thought? A small town girl from the south, living it up as a citizen of the world. It was almost to good to be true. Truthfully, after escaping the hell storm in LA, it probably was. They'd barely made it out with their lives and what a twist their lives had taken. If someone had told Piper Blair a year ago.. hell, even ten months ago that she'd be living the life of an international criminal by this time, she'd have laughed in their faces. Her? A pretty normal girl, jet setting around the world with a crew that lived an anything but normal life? It would have seemed beyond surreal to even dream of.
Yet, that is exactly where she was and she was loving every minute of it. If there were moments she missed the quiet of her old life in LA, she kept those thoughts buried deep and was wise enough to enjoy what she had. No longer was she alone and her new “family” made the change worth it all.
Especially Jack. The mere thought of her lover had a little smile quirking up the corners of her lips as she leaned on the balcony of the old villa they'd come to call home. Theirs had been a wild ride from word go but was still going strong all these months later. Better than strong, really, as they'd been through hell together and still managed to come out this side of it. Brian's death had been a blow to the younger O'Conner and still weighed on him but that was just something that came with the territory. One day at a time was the best they could do and Piper made it her goal to make sure he didn't dwell on it so much that it took him under. That wouldn't do any of them any good and they couldn't afford the distraction.
That thought in mind, the blond sipped her coffee and took in the view laid out in front of her. One barefoot kicked back behind her, the smell of the sea was a welcome relief for the jet lag that always came with returning home after a job. Lifting her face into the breeze, the blond tucked a tawny lock of hair behind an ear before letting out a sigh. God, she loved it here. The only thing she loved more was the water and being in it. It was paradise on earth and Piper couldn't remember being happier.
Hearing a sound behind her, the blond looked over her shoulder and smiled. “Hey...Sorry, hope you don't mind that i helped myself to some coffee.... I needed it this morning...” she said, twisting around to lean on the railing before sipping the brew.

Well, Monte Carlo certainly was no middle class girl's world, and what on earth was a cappuccino or latte? The whole high life scene was something that Kennedy was not used to, and she felt out of place. Kennedy had packed up her belongings, entrusted her father's garage to her uncle, and fled the country with her new family. Living the life on the run was exciting, and it exposed Kennedy to the world that she had only read about in her books. She would've preferring going somewhere like say, Moscow, Tokyo, or Sydney. But, she remembered that family came first before her needs, and her family decided to come here. They needed her, and she needed them. Ever since the whole chaos in LA with the drama, the new change of scenery could do her and them some good. Since moving to Monte Carlo, Kennedy had little contact with her brother whom she is very close to, but being on the run made it difficult to reach out to her loved ones. Life was an adventure, and Kennedy was on her way to grabbing life by the balls.
Kennedy had woken up early, and left the family compound to go and see the city. She had slipped into an old vintage shirt that had belonged to Tobias. It was one of the few things that she had of his before he had left for Iraq. She crawled out of the car, lifting her shades above her head, and walked up the stairs leading to the compound. In her hand was a small cup of plain coffee. Took her a while to find a place that just served plain coffee. She observed the young women around her while out and saw they wore designer outfits, and drove fancy cars. Yeah to nice fast cars, boo to designer clothes. She inwardly sneered at their rich lifestyles, and she walked on. Kennedy sipped her coffee again and opened the door. She noticed Piper standing outside on the veranda, and she let out a soft sigh. Atleast some one was enjoying their time here. Kennedy was still adjusting to not being able to walk down the street for a simple cup of joe. " Hey Piper, glad to see you're enjoying the place. Do you know how many places I had to go to just for a simple cup of coffee. But I am not going to complain. Where is everyone else?" She took another gulp of her coffee and threw it in the trash and plopped onto the couch.

She didn't know what time she drifted off to sleep. But when she open her eyes the sun greeted her. She looked around her new room feeling out of place, this was not her home. This wasn't LA but she had no other choice than to run with her brother and the rest of the crew. It was so hard to walk out her house once again, a part of her was ok to get out. It was time to heal, and in a way she was starting to heal of not having him around anymore, the house back in the states held so much memories. She cried so much the day before she had to leave, not wanting to leave all the memories behind, afraid to leave him in her house.
She sighed standing up and brushing her hair that stopped a little below her shoulders. It was so quiet as she made her way downstairs. "Looks like everyone is still sleeping," she murmured the words entering the kitchen getting ready to make coffee.

Giving the other woman a nod, Piper pushed up from the balcony and took a sip of her drink as she turned to face the main room. "I think everyone is still asleep," she said by way of return before glancing at the clock and shrugging. "Late night and all. Surprised I'm up honestly but sleep seems to be a mythical thing."
Hearing the sound of someone else joining them, the blond shifted her attention to the doorway to see Mia and smiled. "Hey Mia.... You look about like I feel." she noted, lips quirking upwards. "I hope you don't mind but I can't function without coffee so I made some. Hope you like it strong." she continued before glancing back at Kennedy. "Big plans for the day?"

She stopped as soon as she entered the kitchen noticing the fresh and hot liquid in the pot. She turned hearing Piper's voice. "Hey Piper..." She return the smile not quite reaching her eyes, taking a clean cup and pouring some coffee. She rubbed at her sleepy eyes tasting how strong it was. Something she definitely needed at this moment. "No problem. I need this. Had a hard time sleeping," the dark circles under her eyes gave away how she was feeling this morning.
No need to explain why she was having problems closing her eyes and rest. Questions, memories seemed to come at night. Still adjusting to this new life, new everything, including her, including her brother. Mia looked down at her cup and reach for the coffee pot pouring more. She still felt asleep, it looked like one cup was not going to be enough for her.

An hour had passed and they probably used all the hot water. The rest of the house going to kill them if they weren't up already. The crash of the bed, the sounds that came out of Tess, hell, the sounds he made as well. Everyone was probably already up and ready to kill them kill Shawn for bringing some stray home and waking them up. Fuck it, they'd get over it once they finally found out who that "stray" was. Not only that, but after this morning, nothing was going to ruin his glow of big happy sunshine. Nothing. Even if Dom had been woken up during their sexapade and beat the living shit out of him for it, he'd still smile, missing teeth, blood, and all. Nothing could be better than this day not even a finished car ready to race. Which by the way, he had to get to the garage and work on his.
Shawn had gotten out of the shower , dried off and was now in the bedroom getting dressed while Tess was trying to recuperate after round two. He grabbed a pair of his ripped up light colored blue jeans and a black Diego T and slipped it on with his cowboy boots. In seconds he was dressed and walking back in the bathroom where Tess was. Leaning down, he gave her a kiss, "I'm gonna go make us some coffee and pray we didn't wake anyone up. Meet me downstairs?"
He waited for her to answer and gave her another kiss, "If want to wear one of my shirts, they're in the second drawer." he walked out of the bathroom and soon the bedroom, closing the door behind him so Tess had some privacy.
In just a few minutes he was downstairs and walking through the villa, noticing how quiet it was. Where was everyone? It wasn't till he walked into the kitchen and noticed the fresh pot of coffee and the girls outside on the porch. Grabbing himself a two cups, he poured the coffee and mixed the sugar and creamer in, hoping that Tess would like the way he made it. Some people were picky about what they put or how much so he was risking a fifty fifty chance here but he was trying to do something nice. Finally, making his way outside, he leaned against the railing, smiling at the girls. "Good morning ladies." he greeted himself all bright eyed and bushy tailed. "How is everyone this morning?" and in the back of his mind was hoping him and Tess hadn't woken them up earlier than they wanted to be up. He sipped at his coffee and set it on the railing next to Tess'.

She kept the conversation with the girls as they walked outside, the sunlight blinding her only for a second until her brown eyes adjusted to the hot and bright sun.
A voice interrupted their small talk, She turned and smiled at Shawn. "Good morning Shawn," Mia covered her mouth with her hand as she yawned. The guy looked damn happy, but for the youngest Toretto it wasn't an excellent morning "Still trying to wake up," holding up her cup of coffee, so this was her second cup, and still didn't seem to take effect. For a moment she wondered how Dom was doing. She hadn't seen her brother in the last three days, even though they lived under the same roof. For now, she looked down at her cup really debating whether she should get a third cup of coffee.

The shower had been wonderful. Shawn had damn near been telling the truth about forgetting how to walk. Her legs were definitely a little wobbly at the moment. She felt good though so she took her time. Wrapping a towel around her body and then one around her head to dry her hair a bit. Shawn was much quicker than she was and soon he was coming back into the bathroom to give her a kiss and ask her to meet him downstairs.
Tessa nodded at him and smiled, he kissed her again and told her where his shirts were if she needed one. She watched him as he walked out the room. Her heart gave a little flutter and she smiled again. Now she needed to finish up and get dressed. Thinking about it, one of his shirts probably would be good. At least for now while she was just around the house. The clothes she had worn last night were scattered around the room. Plus she didn't really feel like running around in a mini skirt and blouse this morning.
Padding out of the bathroom she went to the dresser. Found the drawer with the shirts and grabbed a t-shirt. Since she was already looking through his drawers she opened another one, then another one till she found one with boxer shorts in them and grabbed a pair of those too. Scouting around the room a bit she found her panties and grabbed them up, they would have to do for now.
Taking the towels off she put her undies on, then slipped the t-shirt on over her head. It was huge on her and hung down past her ass. Then she pulled on the boxers and this was going to be a bit tricky. They were definitely too big and wouldn't stay up. Thinking a bit she gathered a section of the waist band up, tightening it around her then tied a knot in it. It wasn't perfect, they were still a little loose and hung low on her hips, but they weren't falling off. They would have to do.
Grabbing one of the towels she dry her hair some so it wouldn't be dripping all over. Smoothing it down and trying to tame it a bit by combing through it with her fingers. She went and looked into the mirror. The hair wasn't that bad, the clothes were all right. Holy hell, that hickey on her neck was turning a lovely shade of purple right now. Yeah, there was no hiding that. More than half of it stuck up out from under the neck of the shirt.
Oh well.
Tossing the towel on the bed, still barefoot, she made here way out of the bedroom and downstairs. It was quiet this morning and then she heard the murmur of voices coming from the kitchen. Heading inside she crossed the kitchen to the outdoor balcony/patio area where she saw Piper, Kennedy, Mia and Shawn already gathered. She gave a little wave to all the girls.
"Good morning all. How's everyone doing? You all got a big day ahead of you or just relaxing at home?"
Tessa walked over and stood beside Shawn. She saw the second cup of coffee sitting on the railing next to his.
"Is that for me?"
She glanced up at him and smiled. Taking the coffee when he acknowledged that it indeed was for her. Carefully she tipped the cup to her lips and took a sip.
"Mmmm. Thank you. This is perfect."
Giving him another smile she stretched up on her toes and gave Shawn a quick kiss on the cheek to show her appreciation.

Kennedy ran her fingers through her semi-bed head hair and stifled a yawn. She was not a morning person until she had caffeine in some form. She uncrossed her legs, and got up and walked around to get the blood running. After fixing her hair in a messy bun, Kennedy turned around and saw Mia, and gave her a weak smile, " Morning Mia," she said softly and stretched her arms up in the air and moved from side to side, and she heard her back pop. Much better. Kennedy felt better after her morning stretches. She made her way to the kitchen and poured herself a cup of coffee in her favorite mug. Adding a little coffee cream, the aroma filled her nostrils and she gave a soft sigh. She raised the mug to her lips and sipped as she glanced out the window at the garage, and whatever sat beyond it. She leaned against the counter and stood in the kitchen for a bit, looking down at the floor, and thought about Tobias. She hadn't seen him in three years, hell he probably wouldn't recognize her if he saw her. She missed him deeply.
She exited the kitchen with her mug still in hand and noticed that Shawn had finally arisen. "Morning Shawn," said Kennedy and she took a sip of her coffee. " Doing alright, once I have coffee in my system, I'm heading out to the garage to work on my car," she said softly and sat down and crossed her legs. " Anyone up for eating breakfast?" she asked.

Shifting her stance and stifling another yawn, Piper glanced at her watch before sighing. Idly, she figured she should probably get the hell out of here and head for home but the caffeine had yet to fuel her determination to do just that. Having gotten in so late the night before and lacking the energy to drive home, she'd ended up crashing after sending Jack a text to let him know where she was at. Now though, she was wishing she'd just taken the chance and driven on home. She just felt.. Odd being here with Jacks ex girlfriend and a few of the others she didn't yet know well. While she was sure it was all in her own head, it still felt awkward and she'd just about convinced herself to make a run for the door when Shawn appeared, shortly followed by Tessa.
That succeeded in putting the crush on any plans she had to make her escape. Especially when her friend appeared to be wearing something besides her normal fashion diva clothing and pressed a kiss on Shawns cheek. For a moment, it was all the blond could do to stare at them in amusement before she finally shifted her gaze away and took another sip of her coffee. "Morning." she managed, keeping her smirk concealed by the cup. "someones cheerful this morning..."
Just then, Kennedy got up and made her comment about heading for the garage. Giving the other woman a little nod, the blond watched for a moment before looking back at the others. "I'm heading out shortly. Should have gone home last night but didn't manage it.... Crashed here instead on threat of life.... Whats your excuse?" she teased as her eyes lit with interest on Tessa.

Tessa glanced around to see everyone. Mia looked tired and it had her wondering how she was doing. Still coping with Brian's death was taking it's toll on her. Kennedy sipping coffee and wondering about breakfast. Tessa held her coffee cup aloft.
"This is breakfast for me. At least for now."
Then she smiled and turned her attention to Piper. The smile stretching to a grin as her friend made her comments. Tessa didn't need to see it to know the girl was smirking behind that cup of coffee she had. Piper was no dummy. Coupled to the facts that Shawn had had a cup of coffee waiting for her and she had just planted a kiss on his cheek. Yeah. Whatever they had going on, wasn't going to be on the down low very long. Not like they were hiding it anyway. But, a roomful of women just observed their actions and the giant hickey on Tessa's neck would only make it more obvious. This was going to spread like wildfire through the group. Tessa didn't care though.
Glancing over at Shawn she smiled at him again.
"I blame you for this."
She chuckled and gave him a wink to let him know she was only teasing. Then she turned to look at Piper again.
"The honest truth? Not sure how I ended up here. But, I'm glad I did."
Shrugging she took another sip of her coffee.
"Last night is a complete blank. Not even a blur at the moment. I think I should check my phone... maybe there is some evidence of what went on. Though, I'm pretty sure fun was had. And this morning... I'm fully aware of the good time I had."
Lifting the cup to her lips she peered over the top as she took another careful drink of the hot liquid.

Dom was in one of his typical moods but then again, it didn't help that he didn't get much sleep. Him and Piper had just got back not too long ago from a repo job when he had gone upstairs to shower and maybe try to lay down. The shower felt good, and so did the bed. After a night of driving and working, the soft comfort of his bed was welcomed gladly except for one thing......just as he was about to close his eyes, he heard something that made him wish he had stayed out. It also made him want to relocate his room to maybe, who knew, the deepest part of China and far away from Shawn's room. Was that Tessa? Oh boy, this was a heart break waiting to happen. Tess hadn't been the busy little beaver that he knew Shawn could be. And granted, it had been a while since he'd seen Shawn with anyone or even heard things, but still....with Tessa? Grumbling as he sat up out of bed, he walked out of the room and went outside to the garage to leave the two alone to make their own mistakes. He'd want nothing to do with that unless Shawn broke her heart. Then he'd have to put Shawn down like the dog he was. He went downstairs and out the back door to escape anyone waking up recently to avoid the social gathering mornings could bring around here. Last he heard, Piper was gonna try and catch some sleep on the porch swing, even after offering her the couch. So as long as she could sleep, let her. At least someone was around here.
Just as he got the garage, he started to tinker on some things but coffee sounded good. He'd finish this one last thing and go make a pot, but that one thing turned into another and another and before he knew it, an hour had gone by. Walking back to the house, he went to go in the door he exited from, but forgot to unlock the damn lock on his way out. That meant he would have to go to the front door and hope to God no one was awake just yet. When he reached the front door though, that was locked too and there was only one other way in. The kitchen balcony door. He walked around the wrap around porch of the villa only to come around the corner and see the gang all out there drinking coffee already. He'd already been seen so there was no turning back now. But approaching the crew, he seen Tessa reach up to give Shawn a kiss. He was pretty sure he would never look at her again in that same innocent light he'd pictured of her for so long again. Not that he didn't already have a clue that she had....in the past and maybe present, but it was always more awkward when you actually heard it for yourself.
That's when Dom came in closer to the conversation and looked to Piper. "Not really." he said as he walked past all of them and into the kitchen. Mia seemed to be standing there with her coffee and listening from a distance while being her typical lonely self. He had to admit, a lot of shit changed when Brian died and it affected them all. Some in the same way, but most in different ways. Unlike himself, Mia still tried to manage and be the social butterfly even if it wasn't at all pleasant half the time, but she still tried. Others weren't as close to Brian like they were, so it was easier for some to get over it faster, like Shawn and Tess for example. Dom and Mia were still moping around while they were keeping the house awake with their little .....Oh shut up, Dom, stop thinking about it. Dom leaned over and gave his sister a kiss to her cheek, "Good morning Sis. Feelin' any better?" he asked as he poured himself a cup of coffee but left it black. Now that the coffee was empty, he threw the old grounds away and put in a new filter and set the coffee pot up to make more. From inside the kitchen, he could hear Tessa go on about how last night was a blur and how nothing could be remembered. Sounded like they had a good time last night as well as this morning. He almost wished he could have drank enough to forget what this morning had planned for him. Dom took his coffee and went to walk back outside cause he had something to tell Piper before going back to his garage, but as he walked out the balcony doors, he heard Tess,
dom only shook his head and replied with a sarcastic tone, "I'm also fully aware of the good time you had this morning. Next time, you can scream Shawn's name at a hotel so that other's can get some sleep." That was all he said about it before he continued to walk past Piper and stopped again. "Piper, when you get a chance, I need to see you at the garage later." and then he was done. Back to his garage out back he was to tinker with some more stuff. telling Piper the garage, he meant the other one. He had a few things to finish up here and then he would be heading out to the other garage.

It was kinda hard not to be after a morning like that he just hoped it was the same way for Tessa although things were very audible so he had no doubt.
She said showing him the giant baseball sized hickey on her next. He could only smile and nod his head in agreement as if to say, Yes, that was me, guilty as charged. That was about the time he noticed Dom coming around the corner and nodded but only got a cold look in return as he walked past them and into the kitchen. Tess continued to tell Piper about their night of forgetfulness and how the morning had made up for it. Shawn had to throw in his two cents as well, "I remember going to the club to meet up with someone and seen Tess instead. Next thing I knew, we were drinking a bottle of tequila to ourselves and talking about past stuff. Then next thing you know, we were just gone from there. I don't remember anything else after that."
Shawn smiled just as Dom walked out and added his two cents in,
Well, that as a bit awkward........Shawn didn't let it bother him though and looked over to Tess. "Next time, I'm gagging you." he laughed, hoping Dom wouldn't hear that. Soon Dom was gone and Shawn snalked his arm around Tess, pulling her in a bit closer to him and sticking his tongue out at Dom's direction as he rounded the corner. "You can't tell me that's all about us and this morning. " he said looking at Piper. After all, why else was she here when she should be with Jack right now. If she was hear, then that meant she came with Dom and they came back from a job, right? "Everything go alright last night?"

Mia kept quiet listening to what the others were saying. Shawn and Tess looked so happy together, and how could they not be when they were very busy this morning. Oh, yeah she heard but didn't say a thing until Dom joined the group, he was grumpy and she didn't blame him. He came closer to Mia's side giving her a kiss on the cheek. "Good morning..." She tried to sound cheerful, but who was she kidding? Two cups of coffee, she was half-awake, dark circles were starting to show. She helped the guys here and there, but it wasn't the same, she wasn't the same. So, when her brother question if she was feeling better, she replied with a "Yes," quick answer.
She shook her head when Dom opened his mouth once again talking directly to the young couple and left. But he was right...next time those two wanted some action, they could find a hotel and let the people sleep. Mia followed Dom to the garage, wanting to help. Although, the oldest Toretto didn't like it. She had millions of memories of Dom scolding her to get out of the garage and do her homework, she hated he did that, years later she finally understood why he did it.
"Please, tell me there's something to be done here," she said as she entered the garage noticing the expensive cars. Her eyes kept looking around, what exactly could she do here and help her brother with? She didn't want to go back to her room or to step in the house. At least, not at this time.

Finishing her coffee, Piper took in all that was going on around her before nodding to Dom. Haven't been out late with him the night before, she wasn't all that surprised at his growly manner. It seemed to go hand in hand with the man these days and the blond couldn't blame you. It seemed to be a pandemic in their small family.
Casting a glance back at Shawn and Tessa, the young woman pushed away from the balcony just as the elder Toretto made his request and she gave a nod in return."I'll be there before I head into the club." she replied before heading for the couch where she'd dropped her bag and shoes. "I should get home and see to my own man. You kids don't have to much fun." she told the other two before sliding into her sandals and searching her purse for her keys.
Finding them, she headed for the door, giving a little wave over her shoulder. "Later gators."

"Apparently not." he commented as Piper mentioned going home and didn't even answer the question he asked her. That meant last night didn't go well at all and was the reason Dom was in such a bad mood. He looked to Tessa and then to the empty balcony as Mia had tailed after her brother. "I guess we're all alone." he winked, looking to Tess and then to the porch swing with a wink. Unfortunately, they didn't have time for that, but it was thought for next time.
"Oh shit." he said looking at his phone and seeing the time. "I gotta get to the garage. You wanna come, or you got something already planned?"he said pulling out his keys to his bike. "Now where did I park that thing?"

Dom's personal garage was his home away from home. It was his shrine, his peace, his hiding place, his comfort zone. It was his only place he could escape to when things became too crazy or hectic when he needed a breather. The only thing it was missing was the '70 black Charger with the fully blown 426 Hemi V8. It was an eye sore every time he entered the garage, not seeing it, especially when he had a empty spot saved for it at the end. See, if Dom could, he'd have it shipped here over a boat, but since Dieselli had his fingers in the cookie jar so to speak, he had cops eating out of his hands. That meant that he would find out where they were the moment that car left the garage. Dom could deal without it if that meant the crew stayed safe, but for how long? How long would Dom be held away from his home? He didn't know and he didn't know anyone who did. All he could do was hope and pray for the best and hope that one day, they'd make it home without having to worry about Dieselli or the cops.
There was a knock at the door and not a second later, Mia had walked in. It was a six car garage, with one spot walled off and locked. He was working on a secret project in that bay of the garage that he didn't want anyone to know about. It wasn't the Charger, he could reassure that, but it was something else, something easier to get a hold of in this part of the world. Something that wouldn't draw too much attention if he had the parts ordered and shipped to Monte Carlo. It was almost done, so everyone would get there first look soon. One bay was left open in case either one of the crew needed to work on something of theirs or in case by some chance the '70 Charger got a new home after all. Another bay had his Camaro and a few other cars that needed some work.
"There's always something to be done here." came the reply as the gear head bent over the hood of his '69 Camaro. The car was running at the time when he pulled on the throttle arm to rev the engine a few times. IT seemed like the timing was off a bit, like it was miss firing. Could be a number of things, but Dom wasn't shabby on his cars. So if it was only a spark plug or a faulty spark plug wire, everything would get changed, from the point A to point B. Walking around to the drivers side, he leaned in, shutting the car off and then back around to the hood. Leaning in again, he began taking the spark plug wires off and inspecting them as he spoke to Mia, "Why, you wanna help?" he asked. Normally, he would have pushed her out by now to go to do something worth while, but since this wasn't L.A. and it wasn't like she had school anymore, there was no reason for her to get out. She was an adult now and could make decisions for herself and if it was working on a car that she wanted to do, then who was he to tell her no? Besides, it had been a long time since they really sat down and had a chance to talk, mostly his fault for secluding himself from the crew the last six months. Their conversations were always short and not much more than barely a few words, so why not catch up and make up for lost time. "Can you hand me the ratchet and the 5/8 deep socket?" he said tossing the plug wires aside and extending his hand. He knew that Mia knew her way around the garage, but with everything going on lately, he wanted to make sure she still remembered.

"There's always something to be done here." Good! Because she wanted to help, it had been years since she stepped into a garage. Last time was when she was what? 18? When Dom caught her wearing a car mechanic uniform working on some car tire and Brian right behind her showing her what to do. Of course, Brian automatically stood up noticing Dom and he walked away to do something else.
Dom was pissed, he told her to change her clothes and to go inside and study for that test, that she wasn’t doing enough. The Toretto temper ran in her veins too and she replied with a “Lay off my back,” and left the garage, last thing her eyes caught was Letty working in some other car.
The deep voice of her brother brought her back to reality. "Why, you wanna help?" she could’ve done a whole lot of things but she felt the need to helped Dom. He was a loner and even back in LA he always disappeared and came back in a month or two. So spending time with him in his garage felt nice. She missed his brother even though they were living under the same roof…it was hard to explain.
“Absolutely! Unless you don’t want me here…” she kept looking at him work on the car. Until he turned and ask for a ratchet.
He always had a tool box with him despite the garage been a pretty big size. She bent down looking closely at the tools not really caring to get her hands dirty. Ratchet and 5/8 deep socket… that was easy. It took her a second to find what he needed and placing in his hand the ratchet and socket.

He remembered the times she always tried to get into the garage to do something, even when she was still a kid, he could remember her and him taking turns on his father's lap as he tried to teach his kids to drive at such a young age. He still remembered it like it was yesterday when he was looking for Mia one morning and he found her in the the garage sitting in the drivers seat of the Charger while it was parked. She couldn't have been older than about seven then and he had snuck up from behind to watch her. It wasn't until he laughed out loud at seeing her trying to reach the pedals and see over the dashboard that she noticed him and ran inside crying to their Pops. He didn't mean anything by it and they were so young at that time, that it was looked at now like simple kid stuff. Look at them now though, older and driving these things like they weren't meant to be. Time changed everything and the more it did, the more Dom was starting to realize that maybe cherishing those memories meant more than it did to others. Too many people died and too many were of them were scattered half way across the globe. They weren't to many now as it was and rather than this being a time to grieve like they had been doing, it should have been a time they were supposed to be stronger and be the family they were supposed to be. It was still just so hard to come to grips for him because he lost Jesse, Letty and now Brian. Besides Brian, these were people he grew up with, people who were supposed to bury him before it was the other way around. It wasn't supposed to happen like this.
He watched Mia's face light up for the first time in a long time and even for that split second before it became glum again when she said her last words, he seen happiness in her and a smile that was long overdue in himself even appeared. He watched as she bent down, grabbing the tools he asked for and within seconds, she was placing them in his hands. He smiled seeing that she didn't have any problems locating the right tools. "Seems like Pops or I rubbed off on you anyways, even as much as we tried to keep you to your studies." he said taking the tools and pulling the extension from off the top of the fender. Putting it all together, he started pulling the plugs out one by one, getting to the second before saying something to her again. But this time he pulled back, standing straight up and leaning against the car to give her his attention. His arms folded in front of him, "Do you remember when we were kids and we used to always race our bikes after school? We had no worries back then. We used to ride down that hill as fast as we could, letting the wind just blow against us, not worried about how fast we were going or what would happen if we fell off. Whatever happened to those days?" he said turning his head away from Mia and looking to different spots in the garage and then out the window before back at her. He wasn't so much as trying to relive the past as he was getting to the point of whats happened to them since then. It seemed like everyday they were looking back, watching their backs at every turn. It was like responsibility just seemed to creep up on them and weight them down the older they got. "Too bad we can't go back to them days." he said turning back to the hood and removing another spark plug. Without looking at his sister, he spoke again. "So what is it Sis? You got something on your mind?"

She smiled proudly and couldn't prevent the chuckle that escaped her lips. "Seems like Pops or I rubbed off on you anyways, even as much as we tried to keep you to your studies" even though Dom succeeded in keeping her out of the garage back then, well...she always found a way in. "I'd hurry up and do my homework and sneak into the garage making sure you were not working in some car and I'd take those mechanic books dad had and see at all the tools and absorb their names and uses like a sponge,"
Dom stopped working and turned to see her folding his arms. "Do you remember when we were kids and we used to always race our bikes after school? We had no worries back then. We used to ride down that hill as fast as we could, letting the wind just blow against us, not worried about how fast we were going or what would happen if we fell off. Whatever happened to those days?" She sighed. "Oh yeah I remember that very well....dad got mad at you because of this." She lifted her jeans showing the scar on her right knee to his brother. "But we didn't care and we kept doing it, thank god nothing else happened,"
"Too bad we can't go back to them days.' "Yeah...too bad." Dom went back to work. "So what is it Sis? You got something on your mind?" Did she? "Not exactly, I just wanted to spend some time with my brother that's all. We live under the same roof but rarely see each other..."
