"¿Qué quieres que te diga? Yo no sé nada!" The man almost immediately spat back at O'Conner. The hesitation hadn't taken long, not after he weighed his options. He didn't trust either of these cops and he wasn't stupid. His name could and would come to light to the wrong ears sooner or later and he'd only be endangering his family if he talked.
"Mi familia... Yo no digo nada." The man muttered softly, making his determination clear to both cops when he turned to look out the window. No word would come out of his mouth.
"Nice try, O'Conner." Daniel laughed, pleased with the Mexican's answer. It was good to know fear still bought loyalty like nothing else with these people. "Just drive him to the bureau and let them waste their time, alright? We've done our job."

Frustrated by their waste of time and extra pper work Brian managed to keep a frown on his face all the way to the bureau where they handed the Mexican over to their colleagues. Of course they wouldn't be much more successful.
Once they were outside and along Brian leaned against the wall of the buidling and shoved his hands in his pockets. "So what the hell was that today? Do you always play that dirty?"

"I play the game whichever way it is required. You may call it dirty, I call it staying one step ahead. It's what keeps you alive on the job." Daniel stated calmly, his own hands disappearing in the pockets of his pants while he squinted against the bright Californian sun. He didn't care much for O'Conner's opinion. This was how he worked most of the time and if his partner couldn't get used to it, it wouldn't be Daniel's loss.
"But don't tell me you didn't like the rush getting these bastards." He said, throwing a smirk in the blonde's direction.

Brian seized him up but didn't reply right away. He looked down the road when he answered. " I get a rush when I actually accomlish something. I play by the rules and I'm still alive plus my record says I put one or the other bad guy away...so what's wrong with that?" His eyes wandered back to Daniel. Maybe that was the reason the man had to transfer...he made too many enemies. "Being your partner seems a little dangerous but I don#t really have a choice, do I? My boss once asked me what the difference between a cop and a criminal was...do you know it?"

"Trust me, O'Conner. When you're facing a loaded gun there is no difference between who the cop and who the criminal is." Daniel answered, the smirk still present on his face. "I think you of all people should know that if we are going to talk about records."
It was evident he had read O'Conner's file and he expected the blonde to have done the same. Of course, the only difference was that Daniel's file painted a different picture from reality. His extracurricular activities were all done safely in the dark.

"What's that supposed to mean?" brian raised a brow. His record had been erased so he wasn't sure what Daniel was referring to and where he got his information from. "Is there something you want to tell me? Cause I think your file is a little too squeaky clean for the way you beahved today."

"Paranoid, O'Conner. That's what a shrink would label your current state of mind as. Maybe you should start thinking about seeing one." Daniel said, smirking more tauntingly at the blonde this time. If only the man knew what was in store for him, his family and his friends.
"Now if you'll excuse me. I've been off duty for about.." He paused, looking at the watch on his wrist. "Fifteen minutes now and I can think of better company than yours." He said as he looked back up at the man in front of him. With a small nod of his head, his fingers closed around the keys to the BMW in his pocket as he turned to leave O'Conner guessing on his questionable behavior.

Daniel didn't leave any doubt that he wasn't too fond of Brian either. At least they were on the same books there. if only they had gotten a lead today but everything was just a big waste of time. He would head home to his family soon and hopefully forget about today. On his way to the car Brian made a mental not to be careful around Shaw. __ Thread closed
