Gathering his last strenght he lifted his head just to see the house become smaller through the back windows of the vehicle. The movements shook him up. "No, take him with you." It was too late. They were on their way and as much as Brian trusted Leon he somehow didn't want to let Tyler out of his sight again. He had simply ditched the boy in order to search for his mother, it shouldn't happen again.

Mia licked her lips forcing Brian to look at her, "Brian he's safe, im safe" She urged her fingers were soft yet sure agaisnt the side of his cheek, "You've trusted Lee this far" She whispered she pressed her lips agaisnt his, feeling his every wince and hiss of pain as the paramedics prodded and poked at his knee.
She had seen cases like this, some far worse, and she prayed to god when they got him in the operating room the damage wasnt to bad, "When you come around he's gonna be the first thing you see"

At the same time that Jack O'Conner already had gotten through the worst his brother was struggling for his love and life in an ambulance not too far away. Brian knew Mia was right. Leon was reliable and loved Tyler. He was also ready to protect him in all legal and illegal ways. Yet it cause Brians heart to race thast he couldn't see him. The little guy had only just joined their small family but had already become the moste valuable person in his life next to Mia. He would become a manic if he'd loose him. The only thing helping him was Mia's voice . It was so calm, so soothing.Nobody else ever had that effect on him.
The needle that was pushed into his vein had Brian alert again. He looked at the syringe fille with some yellow liquid. "What's that? I don't want that!"" The answer he got wasn't understandable for him. He could feel his heart beating in his chest and a sharp pain shooting up from his leg again causing him to groan out loud when he tried to move aw2ay from the two medics. "Ahhh, shit." Brians head was spinning with the fear of loosing his family all over, his body shaking uncontrollably now and agonizing pain-everywhere, in his leg, his back, his chest. Even though Mia was here he suddenly felt like he couldn't handle it anymore and started moaning and cursing like a sailor. The fact that his arms were tied into a belt that made sure he didn't go flying around the van didn't help his feelings. He wanted to reach for Mia but couldn't. Panik. It had a good grip on Brian now as he tried to struggle out of his confinement, out of the situation. His heart was beating like a drum in his chest, his puls racing like his Nissan Skyline. "Fuck. Just give me something. This fucking hurts!" He suddenly pleaded with the medics.
A little confused the young man in front of him aswered. "We did. I'll work in a minute. Calm down."

True enough it only took a few minutes until all worries and anxiety was washed away by a warm and easy feeling. His body was still shaking but it didn't really concern Brian any longer. He gave in to the comfortable dullness and closed his eyes even though he couldn't sleep.
At the hospital he drousily opened his eyes when Mia's hand lost his and she said something about waiting outside. This was the only time he actually protested. "No, come with me."He slurred.
It took almost another 30 minutes until the necessary CT was done and a doctor shook his arm to get his attention.

"Mr. O'Conner," The doctor addressed the patient infront of him his face grim. "I have some good news and some bad news." He stepped across from the bed his patient was laying on and began to post X-rays of the knee on a lightboard. "I will start with the good news." The doctor adjusted his bi focal glasses and began to break down the seriousness off the injury. "If you look here," He tapped the glass, "This is your lower femur, the force of which you were hit by the round shattered the bone but moved your knee and ligaments. A majority of this will heal," He could see the look of relief getting ready to cross the young man's face.
"However," He held his hand up as if stopping the man from saying something, "You will need constructive surgery, screws here, here, and here." he pointed at the bones, "And a metal pole for the bone to set around. There will be permanent scaring and the off chance that you may never run again. You are extremely lucky that you had the leg reset before we got the call or else you may never have been able to walk again. I will be performing the surgery myself and if I do say so, I am good enough that no one will notice the limp." He smirked as he threw his off brand humor into the situation.

Slightly disoriented Brian opened his eyes when somebody shook him. It took him a moment to become aware that it all hadn't just been a bad dream he could simply wake up from. The man in front of him was obviously a doctor and one heck of an ugly one at that. But not only was the man ungly but also little sensitive as it took him only a moment to make Brian wish it was really all just a bad dream and somebody would pinch him. Despite the his high flying feeling he suddenly felt panick again when he was told that he would limp and have set off every airport alarm from now on. "What?" He slurred. "No, you're kidding right?" His head rolled around to see where Mia was. She would handle this for him.

The doctor looked over the brim of his specticals and coughed, "Well if you don't like my prognosis I can always just take your leg, it would be far less painful and less expensive." he wanted to see if the shock would get through the drugs in his system as he said it, it was a form of triage, scare the man into reality and to accept what he can't change. When Doctor Rovok had his mind set on something he made sure that it was done even when it was a case like this, 51% chance of success 49% chance of losing the leg. It all depended on the patient.
"Brian I am going to be frankly honest with you, you want this surgery. You will have the chance to grow old and happy with your wife and child...children maybe even. But what would you rather have? A walk on a beach, or a hobble on a street. I am here on a confrence when I saw you get wheeled in, so you have a choice to make. You tell me to go away and I get on my flight and make it back to New York in time for the game tomorrow, or I stay here and help you. Either way I am happy." He sat down as he said this and wrote notes on a small green booklet, he was monitoring each vital out of the corner of his eye, each thing he said was calm and calculated to upset and annoy his patient. There was one more thing he didn't say though, Brian would have to be awake for the entire surgery.

It hadn't even crossed Brian's mind that there might be a chance of loosing his leg.The thought alone scared the shit right out of him bringing him into reality much faster than he appreciated. He didn't want to think about it. The thought of having a part of his body cut off was simply to terrifying. Seeing it when other people lost a limb was bad but loosing his own was uncomprehendible. He would never be able to teach Tyler and sports or even just life a normal life. He'd be hnadicapped. Brian could feel his chest tighten and heard the beeping of the monitor become faster. The air suddenly didn't seem to get into his lungs anymore. "No way, no, you're not touching me." He was already about to push himself up when the doctor continued his explanations and let him know that he was actually one heck of a lucky bastard to be operated by him, the Maestro himself, and having the chance of walking 'along the beach'. His heart was still hammering like crazy in his chest and beads of sweat were running down his forehead while he frantically looked around to get Mia's opinion. He was way to out of it to make any kind of decision. "MIA!" His eyes darted around but all he could see was hospital personell in green and white, unfamiliar faces who didn't really care whether he would keep his leg, limp or jump around. "fuck!" Brian brought his hands up to his head and covered his eyes as if that would help. "Fuuuck," He fought against the drousiness. Bria needed to make a decision so he slowly said."Okay, do it. Walk...I want to walk."

Withen the hour the doctor has Brian in the operating room and was ready to begin, "Now, Mr. O'connor. You will be awake but numb. I need to make sure you are responding to me and not getting any worse." He looked over the X-ray's again and took out a large syringe full of a thick green liquid. "This is a localized anesthetic, it will make your leg completely numb and unresponsive." He flicked the needle loosening the air bubbles and then inserted it into the leg, he checked the clock on the wall, "Nurse, scalpel. I am making the first incision at 2013 just above the Patella." He made the incision quickly. "Brian did you fell that?" He asked as he looked up at the man.

It had been a long rough ride to the hospital but things seemed to be only getting worse and Brian found himself in the hands of a man that he didn't quite feel comfortable in. The guy didn't only look like Dr. Frankenstein but was also arrogant and seemed to have no idea what was going on in a patients mind. When he was finally in the operating room and waiting to get knocked out the doctor had another surprise coming for him...he had to be awake? When had Brian ever heard of such a thing. Still he was too drousy to actually protest. The needle that was pushed into his injured leg changed that from one second to the next making him howl and try to crawl of the cold steel table. Just when he thought that this can't be true the man started working on his leg-at least he couldn't see it because it was covered with a cloth and Brians arms were fixed to the armrest of the table. "Goooood, you gotta be kidding, just knock me out, please. C'mon!" He rolled his head to see the sympathetic look of a nurse who was handing the doctor a dabber. The sounds and pushing and tearing on his leg made his stomach turn. "C'mon, please. You're making me throw up!"

Rovok looked over the cloth and at Brain, he arched an eyebrow. "Should I put some of the anesthetic in your mouth?" He looked back down at the leg and began to reset what he could of the bone. When he did what he could with the large peices he began to work on the shards and resetting with drill and screws. He checked on Brian's condition every few seconds as he worked and the long hours dragged on. Ten hours later the doctor called out, "Now time for the stitches." He deftly went to work and had the wound quickly closed up.

Over the course of time Brian had about 5 panick attacks, threw up the contents of his empty stomache twice into a small bowl and begged to be knocked out. Occassionally he would feel somthing which wasn't necessarily pain but after all that had happened this was simply to much for his nerves. He even fell asleep for a few seconds before he was shaken awake again. Drousily he wondered. "Why do I have to be awake?"
When the stiches were finally in he asked. "Did it work?"

Rovok stepped back and looked at Brian, "You will have to go through therapy starting as soon as the stitches heal, until then you will be in a wheel chair, the gel and dressing on the wound should start the healing sooner then most other hospitals would have or like but you should be able to start the therapy withen the month." He walked over and placed his hand on Brian's shoulder. "Mr. O'conner, get some sleep you will need your strength."

Never in his life had he been this exhausted physically as well as mentally. Slowly he lifted his head to get a look at his leg just to make sure it was still there. he could see his toes even though he couldn't feel them and relaxed. "So I guess I should thank you." He slowly answered. His eyes were already closing as he fell into a long, well deserved sleep.

With a sigh Mia watched as they wheeled Brian into the recovery room, it had been a long and anxious wait, a lot of twiddling thumbs and Leon shooting her annoyed looks, but they had been filled with understanding. She had been so tempted to get Leon to take Tyler back to his place for the night once more, but she didnt want Brian waking up without his son there, with him, after what he had been through, what she had been through she couldnt quite bring herself to be apart from him either.
The nuse had been kind enough to set up one of the cots and she had placed Tyler in it,her gaze had been locked on him untill she had fallen asleep, with a deep breath she opened her eyes to see Brian stirring, with a breath she stood and leant over him, her hand resting on the side of his face, the other smoothing through his hair, "Hey baby" She whispered softly, her dark eyes sparklign as they looked at him.

He did not want to wake up knowing that when he did he would be in pain and would have to deal with reality. Two or three times Brian manage to go back to sleep until he heard Mia's voice and felt her hand. A good reason to actually try and open one eye. Dark circles gave away how exhausting the past day had been. Finally he manage to open his eyes and looked around to see white walls, machines and finally her face. Heaving in a deep breath he mumbled. "Hey."
What exactly had been going on before he fell asleep? He wasn't one hundred percent sure. His hand felt for his leg just to make sure he really still had two legs and when it touched something hard like a cast he pulled it back. At least it was still there. His fingers wrapped around her hand and he pulled her closer because he simply couldn't find the strenght to lift his head. When she was close enough he found her lips. "How are you?"

Mia sighed agaisnt his lips and ocne the kiss ended stayed there, her head pressed agiasnt his forehead, for so long she had thought she wouldnt see him again, that Carter would have gone through with it, that Daniel's words would have come through, that she woudl have lost her world. She forced her eyes closed, the thoughts sending shivers down her spine, she couldnt and wouldnt think about it.
With a breath she opened her eyes and forced herself to smile back at the man in front of her, he was tired, and looked aweful, but it was the best sightin the world.
"Your okay" She whispered, "The operation went great" She smiled, once more, she knew it meant mroe to him then he would ever let on, that he would be able to teach his son things, with sparkling eyes she lent down and kissed him once more.

Feeling her soft skin against his forehead felt like home. He left his eyes drift close for a moment and inhaled her scent. "So I'll be able to walk not hobble?" He recalled the doctors thread. Brushing that thought aside he wrapped his arm around her holding her close. "I thought I'd never see you again. I thought Verone would kill you like Buster." His voice cracked as he admitted his greatest fear for the first time. Over and over his hand smoothed over her long silky hair down her back. "I'm so glad you're here....where's Tyler?" Against his intention his heartrate increased at the mention of his son.

She relaxed into his touch, sighing ever so slightly, with a smile her eyes sparkled, this is what she could have almost lost. She heard his heart monitor inscrease and her hand smoothed down the side of his face, "Hey calm down, he's here, asleep, the nurses put a cot up" She whispered, she didnt want to bend down and wake the little guy but she would if Brian realy wanted him.
With a breath she kissd his forhead, "You reeally should get some rest" She whispered.
