Mira opened her eyes and looked up at Brian. It took her a few seconds to comprehend that he was talking to her. She sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the bed. "Okay." She stood and walked over to where her bag was using the furniture to steady herself. The fact she was still exhausted mixed with the pain killers was making it hard to stay awake even when she was standing. Picking up her bag she looked at Brian. "Okay lets go." When they got into Brian's car she struggled even more to keep her eyes open. "Be safe. Don't forget to wear your vest." She leaned her head against the seat and closed her eyes.

"I will, day and night." He looked over and smiled at her. Seeing her so beaten up made him sad but it also made him mad and drove him...to finally catch whoever was behind this. "I can't tell the captain what really happened tonight, Mira. He'll take us both off the case. He cares too much about his people to leave them in a situation like this."

"That is true. What are we gonna tell him happened then?" She turned her head and opened her eyes looking at him. Even with the pain killers she could still feel a dull ache in her chest. "Maybe I should just go to work and pretend nothing happened..." She let her eyes close again.

"I think he'll assume that I gave you my cold. I'll simply say you're sick." He said and sniffed loudly. While he was sitting at a traffic light he squeezed her hand. "Sleep it off. I'll call you after lunch and you better answer that phone if you don't want me come storming over." Behind him a car was honking impatiently because the light had long turned green. Brian gave him the finger and sped off with smoking tires leaving the other car in the dust.

She manged to smile alittle. "Okay. Sounds good. Though you don't have to call and check up on me. I'm sure I'll be fine." She was starting to feel like a she was a burden to him. He should be more worried about his health and himself then he was about her. A small laugh escaped her mouth at his reaction to the other driver. "When this is all over you and I still need to race."
