Mira pulled into the parking lot and turned off her Charger. After a few minutes of thought she unclipped her gun holster and put it along with her badge in the glove compartment. Then she grabbed the keys and walked into the bar.
It had been a long time since she was in a bar. Work just took up to much time. She couldn't even remeber the last boyfriend she had. The more she thought about it the more she was turning into her dad. Always working with no time for anything else. Sighing she got a beer and sat down waiting for Brian.

Before going to the bar Brian changed his clothes and then walked over since the place was only a few blocks from his boat house.
Mira was already sitting at the long hard wood bar nursing a beer while Angel was counting her stock. A smile played on his lips when he entered the place. Him and Angel always flirted a lot and it probably wouldn't be any different today unless she didn't care for his broken nose or bruised face or was angry because it had taken Brian so long to come by even though he lived a stone throw away.
"Hey, cutiepie." He greeted leaving it up to the women who of them felt adressed by the nick name and then sat down next to Mira

Mira turned at looked at Brian. "Hey."She smiled slightly as a light blush spread acrossed her cheeks. "I'm glad you decided to show up," She glanced back down at her half filled beer. "Part of me expected you to stand me up after what happened..." She was almost nervous about being here with Brian. He wasn't someone who was very easy to read and that was putting her on edge.

"I was thinking about it." He replied truthfully before he also ordered a beer. "But it's not your fault my brother is such a royal fuck-up. I've asked to be taken off the case." he shrugged as if it didn't matter to him when in reality it bugged the hell out of him. He took the chance to get a better report with Mia to follow what was happening with Jack. For some reason he hadn't completely given up his sibling. "I think I should be the one apologizing for trying to down grade you and your abilities."

"It's okay, people do that alot. Well that or they think I'm just like my dad." She turned and looked at him. "So before we start talking about your brother I have a question for you. Why didn't you tell Hotiz the truth about my badge?" Her mismatched eyes were full of curistiy as she waited for his anwers.

Brian received the beer and immediately took his first loong drink. "Why who's your dad?" It couldn't hurt to show a little interest. "I knew you'd ask one day...I just didn't want you to get in trouble. It was a rookie mistake but at least you didn't make it in the wrong place. I suggest that when you go undercover you simply leave it at home. Take your gun instead." Another sip and they were on to the subject. "So I just want you to know that the reason I dropped the case is that I'm really pissed off at Jack because of what he's done. I don't want to be helping him in any way or have him drag me down with him but at the same time I have to tell you that he's just a small, misguided fish in the pond, desperate to get out of a shitty situation. I'd like to see him walk away from this alive."

Mira stared at him in surprise but answered anyway. "He is Agent Luke Hobbs of the FBI."
"Thank you but I'm not as much of a rookie as everyone seems to think." She took another drink of her beer. "I worked as a street cop in Pheonix for a year and a half before I made the move here." "You have every right to be mad at him." She tooked the last drink of her beer and contiuned to talk. "Thats something we can both agree on. I don't want anyone dead if I can help it. I mean I know its a big possability that it will but I'll try to makesure its not your brother."

"Damn right I'm mad at that bastard. He broke my nose." Brian hammered his fist on the counter to stress his point. "There's something else you have to promise me." He turned to face her and squinted. "If I tell you everything I know, you gotta tell me everything you find out." He watched her reaction closely to figure out whether she'd say anything to get info or actually be truthful. "What do you want to know?"

"Alright Brian sounds good to me." She turned in her chair so she was facing him. "I wanna know everything about Jack. The car types he prefers. Personility. If he races, where he goes to find competeion. Anything that could be remotely helpful in figuring out where he is gonna hit next and even more importently figuring out who is pulling the strings."

"Alright." 'Time for betrayal.' No matter how bad Jack beat him up Brian still felt like a scumbag. So he ordered three shots of whiskey first, offered one to Mira and downed two himself. "I need those if I want to rat my own brother out." The burning sensation reminded him of long gone times when he actually used to do shots with Jack. Those times were over. "Okay. He drives high performance imports. Since his own car is own the watch list now he'll probably steal a different one or try to exchange it. I'm guess Supra, Skyline, Mazda RX-7. Maybe a Nissan Maxima or an Eclipse. He's about performance more than about looks and you'll find him at the illegal races , usually in the east end. Jack's got a list of cars he needs to get." Reachig for a serviette Brian scribbled down the names and types of cars he could remember from the list. "Find a place where you'll find more than one of these. he's running out of time."

Mira took the shot and downed it. "You're not really ratting him out youre tring to help his sorry ass." She ordered two shots of tequila. After downing one she offered the other to Brian. For aminute or two she looked over the list of cars "He is gonna try to steal all of these on his own?" A shocked look spread across her face. "He is crazy."

The third shot within two minutes was gone before he knew it and Brian blinked at her, then stated in a low voice. "Yes, he is." There was no doubt about it. "That's why he wanted my help." Her words were slightly calming. Maybe Brian wasn't as wrong as he felt right now. "It's some fucked up shit,. I tell you that. Our dad used to be a cop. I am and here the little O'Conner shitting on it all." Brian would never understand what was going on in Jacks mind, why he didn't see the bigger picture.

She reached over and set her hand on Brian's shoulder. "Well I can tell ya that I'll try my best to help keep Jack." For once she had a genuine smile of her face."Maybe he will come to his senses." SHe didn't really think that was possable but said it anyway hoping it would help him feel alittle better.

"Okay." Brian gave her a weak smile. "Appreciate it. He'd look pretty bad with a hole between the eyebrows." Shaking his head he added. "Could you keep me posted what's going on and when you figure out where more than one of those cars are, let me know." He then ordered two more beers and finished what was in front of him. The alcohol was hitting his system almost as fast as he kept filling himself up with it.
His tongue was a little looser so he apologized to Mira. "Sorry, I showed you up with your badge. I shouldn't have done that. I was pissed off that they are sending a...you to watch me."

"When I find a place I will make sure you are the first to know." She smiled softly and pulled a box of cigerettes out of her pocket. There was only one left. Sighing she placed it between her lips and lit it taking a long drag.
"It's okay. I would be angery to if they sent someone to babysit me." She tapped the ash off her cigerette into an ash try before she took another long drag. Exhaling the smoke she ordered a scotch.

The tingling, warm sensation on the back of his neck told Brian that it was time to stop. He'd probably put enough alcohol into his system to last him all night within a very short amount of time. The cigarette in Mira's hand looked very tempting though. He carefully took it from her hand and took a long drag before he handed it back and blew the smoke out of his nose. Behind the bar, that they sat at he caught his own reflection in the long mirror that was lines with various bottles of alcohol. He had almost forgotten that the traces of his run in with Jack very still clearly visible on his face in the form of dark circles under his eye and a swollen nose. Instantly his anger at Jack was back making him wonder why on earth he cared what Mira did with him. Frowning he blew out the last bit of smoke and added. "Then again. If you get the chance to put a bullet in my stupid brother don't hold back and make sure it hurts!"

She watched him take a drag of her cigarette. "You know its a horrible habit to have." A small giggle escape her mouth as she took a long drag of her cigarette after he handed it back, Exhaling smoke she offered it back to him.
"You don't really mean that. If you did we wouldn't be here." She took a drink of her scotch. "You wanna help him. No matter what he does he is your brother. Thats the only reason you are here. I'm not pretty enough to get to drink with a guy like you if it wasn't for this case." She laughed slightly and finished off her scotch.

The alcohol was already clouding his mind but he still thought about her words for a moment, then simply stated. "True." Accepting the rest of the offered cigarette he took another drag and enjoyed it closing his eyes. "I just don't know what it would take him to find a better way to handle life,,,maybe he needs to spned some time in a cell, maybe that would corrupt him even more."
Her next words cought him by surprise so he turned to her again and looked into her eye, when he reallized for the first time that they were different colors. "What do you mean, guy like me?" Of course he knew what she was trying to say but she was pretty in her very own way. "You mean with a bashed up face?" The joke came easier now that a little time had passed since the incidence. "You have no idea, do you?" Suddenly his hand ran along her face brushing away some hair. "That's why I didn't tell the boss about where the badge was..."

"Only time will tell." SHe tapped her fingures agains the bar. "He can only change if he wants it. I don't think we can force him into anything."
A blush spread acrossed her cheeks. "Well...Ummm I don't know how to explain it..." Her blush got darker when he ran his hand along her face. She closed her eyes enjoying the feeling. It had been such a long time since she had contate with a guy like this and to tell the truth she missed it alot. Work just took up so much time there wasn't any for relationships.

"You're right and Jack has proofed that he's anything but ready to change. On the contrary, he thinks he's some sort of a modern Robin Hood, stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor aka himself." Brian frowned and finished the last drink in front of him before he gave Mira another look and nudged her with his shoulder. "I know what you mean but I have to stop right here...it would be really unprofessional to..." He stopped himself because right now he wanted to say 'kiss you/sleep with you', anything inappropriate if they wanted to work together. "I've had too much booze. I better get going. It's on you, you said, right?" Brian was going to make use of that offer. For some reason he enjoyed the thought of owing that cute, young officer. He was playing with her, not intentionally, but she made it easy and hopefully was playing with him a little in return. He got up, placed both hands on the counter and then was going to quickly kiss her on her cheek but stopped himself. "Thanks for the drinks."
