Cole somehow feel asleep on the top deck, apparently the water was soothing to him. He didn't sleep too long though, steadily he was sliding towards the staircase due to the wave's affect on the ship. Eventually he slid all the off and tumbled down the stairs, waking up along the way. Before he could break his fall he landed on his back in the lower deck, it would've been hiliarious if it didn't hurt so much. He groaned and looked back up the stairway, wondering how the hell that happened. He laid on his back for awhile before he tried to get back up. Tokyo once again came back to his mind, then he remembered a girl he knew in L.A who moved to Tokyo because she got caught street racing with major infractions. Cole trained her when she first came into the racing scene, her former boyfriend was a street racer and she wanted to race too, but her boyfriend refused to train her for whatever reason. Cole took her under his wing and taught her not only how to drive, but how to win. After a couple months she wasn't only a good racer, but she was actually better than her boyfriend. The problem was, Cole didn't teach her how to evade cops in time, and she got busted, hard. Last he heard, she was somewhere in Tokyo. He figured she was most likely involved in the racing scene down there. Maybe she could get them in? Maybe she even knew something about these stolen exotics? If only he could remember her name..."Neela, I think." He said aloud.

Mira was sound asleep next to him but Brian kept waking up. He was too wired to actually go to sleep. Suddenly his attention got caught by some noise. It almost thought as if something had fallen down. With everything that was going down it could be the coast guard boarding the ship. So Brian struggled out of bed groaning loudly. As clever as the idea of 'infecting' the bullett wound had seemed at the time to buy some time as unpleasant it was now. Quickly he went over to Mira's gun case and grabbed one before he carefully made his way outside. Silently he opened the door but all he could find was Cole sprawled out on the floor talking to himself. Brian shoved the gun in his jogging pants and offered Cole a hand. "What are you doing down there?"

Cole took the hand thanked Brian. "Uh, I was sleeping and next thing I know I'm tumbling down the damn stairs." He shook his head. "Are you feeling better?" He figured Mira's already asked that question a billion times, so he was probably getting tired of it. He thought he'd share his recent idea. "I think I know of an easy way to get deep into the Tokyo racing scene, it's possible those stolen cars are involved after all."

Brian pulled Cole to his feet and then burst out laughing at his story casting a glance at the stairs. "Seriously? You're cracking me up." That was the best laugh he'd had in ages-picturing how Cole rolled down the stairs in his sleep. "I'm feeling a whole lot better than tied to a hospital bed with the prospect of spending half my life in prison." He deeply inhaled the ocean breeze while the wind ruffled his uncombed hair. "Nothing beats freedom." He clapped Cole on the back. "And you? You threw yours away...for me." He became quite serious. "I don#t know what to say...thank you. But why on earth did you do it?"

Cole shook his head and looked down at the ground. "I was never free, Brian." He thought now would maybe be a good time to tell Brian his life story. "My parents were both killed in a car accident almost two years ago. Sponsors didn't want anything to do with me after that, and my potential career in racing fell apart. So I started street racing in Los Angeles." His expression became dark. "One night, a guy challenge me for slips. He had a brand new corvette and thought he was all hot stuff because if it. We did an open road race, he tried to wreck me and long story short, both of us crashed hard. He was killed and my car plowed into a minivan with several children." Tears were starting to well up in his eyes. "I heard on the news later that night that one of them died from their injuries." He sagged down on a railing, crying now. "I'm wanted for manslaughter now, but the worst part is the emotional torture. I just don't really care what happens to me anymore, it haunts me everyday. Maybe going to another country will help, I don't know." Cole finally looked Brian in the eyes. "You ask why I helped you? I had nothing to lose and everything to gain."

Brian's jaw practically dropped down when Cole told him his story. It did explain why he would simply throw away his 'life' like that. "I had no idea." Brian stated in a very low tone. Strangely enough he had never heard anything on the news or the job. "Oh man, I don't know what to say...that's a night mare." Brian knew all too well how easily people could get injured during street races. He was just lucky that the only thing he ever damaged were things and himself. He didn't look directly at Cole but he wondered. "So how do you deal with it?"

"I keep telling myself that one day, I'm going to walk right up to the family's doorstep and tell them I'm the one that crashed into their son and that I'm sorry. But I know the day I do that, any life I have is over, there's no way they'll forgive me." He fell silent for a few moments, living out the accident in his head. "I guess that's the reason I still race. For the few minutes I'm in the car, I can't think about anything else, my mind is free from thought."

"Goodness, you're troubled." Brian shook his head. "I'm sorry that happened to you. It could happen to any street racer. I've been lucky so far but you never know when you're going to hit somebody...but a kid." Again he shook his head. Cole had put up a great disguise so far. He thought about things to tell him to help him. He knew Cole was already being hard enough on himself. "I shot a guy when I first became a cop. He deserved it, he killed my friend but it wasn't necessarily legal and I almost killed that guy on the boat the other day. I'm just glad Mira saved him."

Cole rubbed his eyes. "You didn't shoot an innocent person though, I took away a little kid from loving parents." He paused, the words stung. "Doing something illegal." He stood up at the sky. "I don't feel like I deserve to live, I'm doing absolutely nothing to benefit society, in fact I'm taking away from it. I'm no better than a drug addict that hopes his parents will take care of him day in and day out."

What was he looking for as an answer? Brian was too much of a matter of fact guy to smooth talk Cole. "Well, you just did something good, I guess." He had to laugh a little. "Listen, bro. The only thing that will help you is if you do something. Go out, find homeless kids and help them or something like that." He placed his hand on Coles shoulder. "It was an accident."

Cole laughed a little. "Yeah, sure, I can help them get involved in racing only to get them busted, like my other trainee." Cole figured he was probably getting a little too whiny for Brian's taste. "Well, things happen, but one day I'm going to make it right. Several rights doesn't always cancel out a wrong."

"Tell me about it." Brian snarled suddenly back in the court with Mia and Dom when the judge used exactly those words when he sentenced Dom to jail. "I'm sure you'll do the right thing, Cole. You're a good person, who just had bad luck. Use all your energy to do good things." He gave him an encouraging smile. "C'mon. Let's go talk to the captain when we're going to be in a harbour."

Cole shrugged. "I try, but thanks man."
He followed Brian up to the captain's deck, thinking they must be close to their final destination. "Do you have any contacts in Tokyo, Brian?"

Slowly they walked up to the captain when Brian shook his head. "Not really. A friend used to live there for a bit." He gave Cole the once over who seemed to limp a bit from his fall down the stairs. "You okay, bro?"
Then they entered the cabin to come face to face with a rough looking white bearded guy in his 60 ies. The man looked over at the two guys who entered and raised his brows btu didn't say anything. He probably had his suspicions that one or both of them were on the run. Brian took a deep breath and smiled. "Hi, I was just wondering when we're going to arrive in the next harbour."
The captain turned his attention back on his instruments and chewed some tobbacco. "Bout 2 hours ...Panama." The short answer was enough for Brian.

Taking a sigh at Brian's answer, Cole's somewhat paranoid mind took over again. How the hell were they going to just suddenly get in with Tokyo? None of them can speak Japanesse to his knowledge. He barely noticed he was limping until Brian pointed it out. "Yeah I'm fine, just a little sore is all." Although the husky captain was a little intimadating to Cole, he asked. "About how long will we be in Panama?" The captian slowly turned back to him and gave him a hard look. "Why do you want to know?" With that Cole waved him off and turned back towards the door.

Outside again Brian stopped for a moment. "Try to be a subtle and non-existant when we're there as you can. Preferably stay on board...or what did you ask for?" He then looked up at Cole's blonde hair and clean shave face. "Mira and I have been talking about keeping a low profile. Think about a way to become as unrecognisable as possible."

Cole raised an eyebrow. "You really think they're going to look for us in Panama? They're probably still digging stuff up in the U.S." He passed Brian and continued down the stairs. "Theres ways to make a quick buck in Panama. Labor there is super cheap and thus you can by relatively expensive items for cheap, then sell them again in a different country. Just trying to figure out a way to get some fast money." He shrugged.

Brian followed Cole down the stairs. "They'll contact interpole if they have a murder suspect and a manslaughter suspect on the run together, I tell you that. Most likely they'll send somebody after us...non officially." At the bottom of the stairs Brian caught up with him. "I like your thinking. We need to keep it legal but big. How much do you have with you?" Brian let his gaze wander over the dark waves. On the horizon he could see a hint of orange. Soon they'd be in Panama.

Reaching the bottom of the stairs, he turned to face Brian. "Well then Tokyo sure as hell isn't any safer." He turned to follow Brian's gaze over the ocean. "A couple grand from a few last minute races the day before we left." He shook his head at how broke he really was compared to what he usually had. "My only concern is the ship leaving without us, for all we know it could be a quick stop and go."

"We'll talk to the captain before we land." Brian pointed towards a point on the horizon where lights were glistening in the distance. "I think we're almost there. I'm going to let Mira know. Get ready, Cole." He gave him the once over. "You have to find some way to look a little less like you."
