John grinned, holding up the spoon. "Nice try, dude, but you aren't getting out of it. Faster you let me feed you, the faster we'll be done and no one will have to know. And as for a steak... I'll be sure to blend one up for you man!"

"You kidding me? You're not feeding me. Get the guy outside to unlock the handcuffs or just put your jello in the IV." He looked at the tube on his wrist, which was itching. "Do I still need that if I eat your stuff?" Brian smiled. This guy was nice and funny. It was the first person he met who didn't treat him like a piece of shit since the arrest. "Hey, thanks for treating me like a human. Appreciate it."

"The IV is for fluids that your body hasn't built back up yet, not for food, so no, it doesn't go away. But, it'll be in for less time if you eat the jello. As for the handcuff, Cathy won't do anything for me because I made him mad and he thinks he's a tough guy." He sat next to the bed. "Come on now, be a man, O'Conner. And you're human, why would I treat you any different. Now, if you'd murdered your mom or something, I might have an issue."

Brian shook his head. "No, man. Do you want to know what I did?" The expression on the nurse's face told him he did even if he wasn't supposed to. "I used to work for the FBI, undercover agent, the whole deal. An old friend had to help me with a case. He was promised to go free...he's got quite the record...but they still sentenced him to life in jail. So I went and broke him out. You probably saw it on the news." he took a deep breath and carefully touched his side. It felt strangely sore and numb at the same time. "And my mom's alive and kicking."
He opened his mouth and swallowed a spoonful of jello. A grimace of torture followed. "Oh, yuck."

"Okay so I lied,"John said happily, stuffing another spoonful in Brian's mouth. I don't wach the news, not that much, but that was in the gossip-fields here... Didn't know that the FBI fucked him over though... Oh well, you didn't kill anyone getting him out, so it's all good. Oh, and the food tastes horrible because of the sedative."
He grinned at the look on Brian's face and shook his head. "The pain meds, man... they taste horrible, and even blue jello can't fix that."

"You're not kidding!" Brian made a disgusted face but swallowed the rest. "Better than being in pain , I guess." he was glad when the last spoonful of the terrible blue substance was gone. "So where's my steak now? Seriously, I'm starving." He proped his head up on his elbow. Laying on the side was starting to get uncomfortable.
"Could I by any chance talk the doctor?" Brian wasn't as much out of it as he was yesterday so he was getting curious.

"The doc's not on duty right now, but he should be back in a few hours.... I've been working here long enough i should be able to answer your questions, plus I'm going to school. Can't say I'll know everything, but I might be able to help."

Brian nodded. "Okay, last thing I remember is being on that chopper and then I woke up here. I'd I'd just like to know what happened. What was wrong with me, you know?" Even though his girl friend was a nurse Brian had no idea about medical issues that went past scratches and bruises. He definetly didn't know anything about kidneys and was worried about his future , if he should have one.

"Well, from the info I got off the grapevine and what little I pried outta Cathy, you got stabbed, and in the kidney no less. They had to remove the kidney to prevent infection, and your rib was injured again. Now, all you gotta do is recover from here... I've been doing all I can to get them to keep you here longer, but I'm not sure if it's gonna fly."

Brian watched him with a worried expression when he explained. "Can I live with just one kidney without problems? How long until I can start eating, walking, running, you know...be normal? I'm not good at laying in bed."
Brian was hoping that Mia got Penning to talk to him but he wasn't sure. His voice cracked slightly when he asked. "How long until I'm going back to prison?" Brian knew that if they transfered him back to Lompoc he probably wouldn't make it out alive.

Nurse John
"Oh, I'm not letting you out of here for at least the time it takes the stitches, 2 weeks. Then it'll be another 6 weeks til you're back to complete normal, I'd say they'll let you stay for 3 weeks, sionce they don't want someone that isn't actively bleeding taking up a bed in the infirmary there. I did a stint in an infrimary," he added at the questioning look. "So maybe 3-4 weeks here, then you'll be able to do neccessary movements, and you'll prolly be in solitary or something. Cheer up! Maybe you'll get out early, or transferred to a different place, since you seem to catch all the pain."
He stood up, then turned back to Brian. "As for that steak, I'll let you have one your last day here, how's that? I'll cook it myself."

Brian smiled broadly. "That's really nice of you."
When he heard that he'd probably be staying for another 3 weeks his mood brightened slightly. He wasn't going to hang around and wait for the guards to transfer him back to Lompoc. As soon as he'd be able to move again he would figure out how to get away.
Brian lifted the blanket slightly and saw that he was wearing one of these nice hospital outfits instead of the blue prison wear. "I'd like to see it, okay?" He had no idea what to expect but judging from the pain in his side despite the tasty blue jello the scar wasn't small.

"If you pick at it and open it up I'm going to laugh at you while I stitch it up without putting you out," he said mildly as he left the room, waving cheekily at the moody guard, who surprisingly enough now answered to Cathy simply because he refused to figure out his real name.

Brian watched him walk away. The guy was nice but also a little weird. Brian appreciated his company much more than the one of guards, Mexicans or cop-haters though.
He grinned at the cheeky wave to the guard outside, then turned his focus back on the task.
With suddenly slightly shaky finger he peeled off the tape and pulled it far enough away to have a look at the stitched up scar that ran from just below his lowest rib on his front up towards his shoulder blade. He scrunched up his face at the ugly sight. "Holy shit." he mumbled and stuck the tape back on. He let his head fall onto the pillow and stared at the ceiling. That was something else. He swallowed hard to get rid of the lump that had formed in his throat. Leon had done a damn good job.

For the past two days he had been busy trying to figure out the mess that suddenly found himself in. His work had been far from fun and it had just gone down hill from the second Mia Toretto had called him.
O'Conner was in here because of him, he had put him behind bars, he had gotten him in on the deal and now he had lost a kindey.
He stopped in front of the guard and pulled out his I'D.
"Special Agent Penning here to see Brian O'Conner" He didnt wait for the guard to grant him permission, but walked past him and pushed open the hospital door.
"Well this is a sight for sore eyes"

Brian was half-asleep when Penning walzed in. The first two days they had given him so many pain killers that he wasn't in much pain but also not thinking toon straight. Now that the doctor had switched it up a little Brian was so sore that all he wanted to do was sleep. So he did. Unfortunately Penning woke him up and brought him back to reality. Being laid up on his side he couldn't see the door but of course recognised the voice. "Ah, finally. I thought you'd never show." He tried t turn his head far enough to see him.

Penning waltzed further into the room, comeing arond so that his agent wouldnt have to strain much further.
"Been a busy couple of days, apparently your good friend told the wardan at the prison what we were doing, what you were doing in there" He folded his arms across his chest, looking down at Brian.
"Safe to say your not welcome back"

Leon's behaviour was getting stranger. "He did what?" brian shook his head. "I don't get it. Leon must have a damn good reason for acting the way he is."
Brian lifted his head and put his arm behind his head to see his former boss better. "So the warden wasn't informed in the first place? Nice of you." He replied sarcastically. "I know I didn't really go in as undercover agent with the benefits like better treatment and safety but a little back up from your side would have been nice." He lifted his blanket to show Penning the tape running along his left side. "Maybe you would have safed me from this."
Brian was beyond annoyed with Penning. The man hadn't backed up his promise to Dom and not informed the warden of the prison about who Brian was.

"If we had done that you wouldnt have been allowed in there, you would have spent your time behind some other jail"
He looked away from the wound, and let out a deep sigh. "Iv been talking to my supervisersn and i think iv smoothed it all over, so you wont have to do any time"
He sat down on the seat next to the bed "But as for working back at the FBI" he let out a deep breath and shook his head.
"I just dont know, im working on something, but it may just not fly"

Brian's heart skipped a beat when Penning talked about him not having to go back to jail. "Really? I won't have to serve my sentence? Is this for real or a maybe?" He sat up excitedly and was ready to jump out of bed at the prospect of actually having a life again.
His wound, however, didn't play along and he hissed in pain and drew a deep breath pressing his left hand against his side. "Oh, fuck." He groaned.
Right now he didn't care that the FBI wouldn't give him his job back. He did, however, care about Leon. Strange but true. "What about Leon Perez?"
