A very large very creepy peice of the puzzle fell into place then, "He made a move on a person, that's not a may to control a pawn, you threaten to control a pawn, you go after somone to mke a point..." He said to himself remembering what he told Faye the day before. "Well...that explains a lot." He let his head fall backwards against the brick wall with a dull thump. He blew out a large gush of air and hoisted himself up. "But why go after Faye if you have the pics..." It was an odd way of doing it but there had to be a reason behind it. "As for the acting, you can't fake that type of fear. Just like you can't fake the hopelessness in a person's eyes when they realize it's pointless to fight. That's why it had to be real for them, just wait a few days and I'll contact you man. We'll figure this thing out, just keep a lid on it and avoid you're brother until I can arrange for something, even if it's just calling off any goon's keeping tabs on you guys." He closed his eyes and ran his thumb and index finger over his eyelids in an attempt to push away the exhaustion.
"If things ever get bad though...take the shot man, I mean it. If Carter does have Mia and it looks like hell's going to break loose take it. Won't be the first time you've shot me." He laughed awkwardly.

Brian raised his brows. "Hang on, rewind that? what did you just figure out?" He didn't understand any of this chess stuff. "In plain English, please?"
He watched the man knock his own head on the wall. Aparently he liked pain. "So you're asking me to shoot you? Haven't you had enough of that yet? And who says it will be you who's in my way? But don't worry about it...if I can safe Mia that way, I'll shoot you." Now it was his turn to smirk awkwardly.

"You don't publicly torture someone to control their friends. If you want to control them you only threaten them give them small to medium messages. Something like what he thinks I did to Faye, that's a muscle move. Says 'hey you know what I can do'. He wants you to be a scared dog afraid of being whipped." He shook his head with a sick popping noise.
"When Carter goes down for this, it will not be a legal issue. He goes down for good, no matter what happens he resisted arrest. I was told once as a recruit it's not what happens it's how you word the report." His voice once again changed to it icy calm tone. "I'm going down stairs, come if you want. If not shut the door on your way out." He turned and headed down the stairwell to the garage, deftly his hands rolled over the keypad opening the armory and range.
With a practice ease he pulled down. A weapons rack and began loading up an arsenal of toys. He slid the magazines into twin Glock 45s and removed a spare round. He pulled a knife from his pocket and etched something along the bullet. He set the bullet in his pocket and began to assemble a custom made rifle. The rifle resymbled a g36 with a wider magazine and larger barrel. He then pulled his special revolver from the wall and loaded it. He needed to release stress now, the range seemed perfect for it.

A little undecided what to do next brian followed the man downstairs. His eyes went wide when he took in the weapons arsenal he called his own. Brian whisteled and stepped closer. From the multitude of weapons he chose a simple glock 34. "Now that's something I know how to use." With ease he loaded the 9mm and took aim at one of the targets and blew 3 perfect holes into the middle of the head. With a smile he looked at Walter. "Bull's eye. You still want me to take aim at you?"

Walter smiled at the shots. He placed the revolver down on it's side and looked down. Quickly he shot his arm out and in one deft motion leveled it at the target. He squeezed the trigger quickly each recoil resetting and sending the the next round down range. A single hole appeared in the middle of the throat, he flipped a switch to bring the targets closer. "Six rounds one hole, rant you glad I havnt taken my shot?" He reloaded the pistol and sent the target back down range.
"First week at the range in training we spent five thousand rounds a person, per day." He shook his head and resighted in, he pictured Carter's face on the paper doll. The first shot was through the jugular, the next was under his left cheekbone, a paralytic shot. The next four were placed two a piece in each eye. He placed the weapon down and put his hands on the table.

"Impressive." Brian nodded. "You just have to be better than me at everything." Brian completed Walters 'picture' with a shot in the imaginary balls. He was almost starting to have fun but as soon as he felt it he also felt guitly for it. So he sent another round at a new target. This time a lot faster and angrier. One missed, the others would have been lethal. He loosened his tense shoulders. "So you're telling me you're not trying to put him behind bars? I can't say that I'm unhappy with that. I don't ever want to find my wife gone again." His eyes wandered over the selection of weapons and he weighed a granade in his hand before he put it back down.

"I'm not law enforcement, I just came out of a black ops group and now I don't even exist. The people I work for are high speed shoot to kill types that specialize in taking down large threats and political agendas. If it were in my hands I'd have Carter strapped to a car battery or hanging from one of these target's right now. But as it is, he's just a mover not a mastermind and my guys want to figure out where the hell he got this stuff from." He looked down at his revolver then over at Brian and the grenade. "When we are done I'll take you out somewhere to try that out. As for being better then you, I'm not. I'm just more trained, you have a life I havn't done anything but kill for the past god knows how many years. Here is a tip on that wandering shot, spread your finger's out slightly. It'll stabalize the grip and even if you're ticked the fingers will equalize the weight and recoil." He looked back down at the revolver. He couldn't help but feel something bad deep in his gut.

Brian spread his fingers out as he was told and looked at the revolver. Then his eyes met Walter. The guy he had just shot about an hour ago was now showing him weapons and sahring them with him. How much trust did he have in Brian? "Why are you showing me all this...why do you care how I or Mia get out of this when all you want to do is hit your mark?" If Walter was really as much of a cold blooded killer as he seemed to be and made out to be what did he care about Brian and his family?

"I'm sick of not having friends, I'm sick of moving around all the time and never being allowed to have any type of life." He looked up at Brian calmly. He reached in and pulled out his phone, scrolling through pictures he stopped and showed one to the man. The picture was of a young brunette girl about eighteen years old. "The only person I had a connection with was when I was in highschool. Hundred percent honesty and trust until I left and broke her heart, I know I will never talk to her again, I know I'll never see her again. But when I look at this picture I'm reminded of being human and knowing if I can save a life maybe I can start making up for all the shit I've done. This world is full of evil men Brian, people not worth a second chance. I'm hoping that maybe if I pull this off, maybe I am worth giving a second chance too. After I saw what I did to Faye...I saw myself for what I've become."
He placed the phone on the table in front of him. "I've seen and done stuff to people that should give me nightmares, I've hurt people like no other and have greeted friends ready to send a knife strait through their backs. I have been shot, stabbed, and blown out of every machine known to man...This was suppose to be my last big hurrah before I got wiped clean and released. " He didn't know why he was telling Brian this, he pinned it on stress and the fact he needed to tell someone. Walter grasped the wooden table in front of him with white knuckles and stared hard at the revolver.
"I am going to make an example of Carter to his employers, I am going to show them that there are more messed up people in this world then they can even think of, higher trained, better skilled. And people with morals that won't take bribes or threats. There are other people like me, they wouldn't show kindness or regret in doing what I did, they would find it amusing to torture someone for the job...I don't want to be like them any more." Quickly and without warning he pulled a knife from his belt and lodged it into the middle of the target's heart.
"I just want to have a chance to prove I'm still human...to make it up to her...and not risk loosing Ree... For the first time since I killed my ex...I have the chance to make up for my actions. If you don't trust me, you have a loaded gun. Take the shot right now, I won't stop you. When I'm dead, walk out of here. Go storm Carter's palace and see what you can do... It's the least I deserve." He said grimly half hoping the man would do it.

Brian listened to walters explanations very carefully. It shed domw light on the man, most of it matched the picture that had already forme in his head, some of it still shocked him though. His eyes narrowed when Walter said he killed his wife. "You killed your own wife?" Disgust showed in his expression and his fist tightened around the gun. "I'm not sure that you deserve a second chance or love with Ree if you really killed and tortured as many as you say. But I'm not the one who will judge you." He placed the gun on the counter in front of him. "I already took a shot at you today....one's enough for a day...maybe next time." he added without the hint of a joke in his voice.

"She was a double agent went after me after she got the information she wanted. She attempted to kill me and failed." He shook his head violently trying to knock the image of her away. "Ree woke something up inside me, she's a light that tells me I have something better out there. If I don't make it back to her...I want to say that I at least tried." He swallowed a lump in his throat, something was in his eyes, a small tinge of remorse peeked out.
"I'm dead to my family, to my friends I grew up with. I am laying in an empty grave in Arizona right now. I hope you never have to know how that feels Brian. I want to finish this shit and move on already." He couldn't hold his head up any more and hung it looking at the revolver.

For a moment Brian felt something lije sympathy until he was overcome by his own feelings of loss, fear, anger. They were too strong to feel compashion. "What would you do if I kill Verone...not in self defense?" it was a hypothetical question. His gaze followed Walters to the gun.

"Like I said, no matter what. He resisted arrest and you had to shoot him. It's not what happens, it's how you word the report..." He said hollowly, "You know dead men can't defend themselves, thats how murder operates you should know that by now."

"Yeah." Brian looked to the ground. He was aware that a lot of bad guys got away with murder. But s far he had been proud not to be one of them. Would he really cross that line? He suddenly slapped Walter on the shoulder. "Good to know. I'll head off now. Call me if anything changes." With that he stepped out the door and walked down the road. For a moment he waited for a cab on the sidewalk but then decided to walk to figure out what to do now. Should he actually go knock on Verone's door, should he tell Jack or just stay quiet and hope for the best?

Walter fell to the floor after Brian left, he reached up and brought the revolver down to his lap. Not for the first time did he think about blowing his brains across the wall. He knew he wouldn't do it and a lot was riding on him right now. He stood up and wiped the weapon clean before stripping it down and cleaning it meticulously. He finished quickly and began to strip the weapon Brian used. The slow process of cleaning helped him relax and focus on his goals.
After an hour of cleaning he managed his way up to his shower. As he let the warm water work it's way into his skin he could feel the burn of it on his new wounds. He rested his head on the shower wall and let himself slip into a mini nap. After a while he opened his eyes to his watch beeping at the hour. It was time to check on Faye, the sun would be on it's way down.
