Mia watched them take away her brother in silence, mouth open slightly in shock. Had the judge really just said what she thought he had? But didn't Brian promise that Dom would be free? Wasn't it supposed to be easy?
She turned to Brian, but he was already gone, out of the door before she could even think of what to say to him. Everyone was standing up to leave, but Mia sat there, staring around the room in confusion.
Was it really over, just like that?
The tears came before she could stop them, and Mia grabbed her purse, dodging everyone she could as she ran out the door and into the hallway. She didn't stop until she was outside, walking quickly with her face down to hide her tears. She had to call Vince, she had to get as far away from this place, she had to call in a few favors... What was she going to do now?
She heard a scream and jerked around, only half-surprised to find Brian on the other side of the sidewalk. She turned away again, not knowing how to face him or Letty or anyone, and walked toward her car.

"This can't be happening." Letty said, her tongue on her upper lip, stroking it nervously. She stared blankly at the wall outside the courtroom, noticing Brian's restless motions at the corner of her eye. "We have to get him out of there." She whispered loud enough for Brian to hear. She was thinking illegally again and she didn't care.
"Its like...the one thing that's gonna prevent me from coming clean." she said and a dark, bitter laugh escaped her mouth. Her nostrils widened slightly and she felt her shoulders shuddering with anger. She knew Mia wouldn't like her ideas, the ideas that didn't involve appealing, objecting, stupid useless lawyers and one dumb judge.
Finally, Letty's dark, fury eyes rose to meet Brian. She wasn't blaming him, she knew better than to blame someone right now. And he knew her better than everyone else around, he knew she wouldn't just walk away and accept the fact that Dom just got in for life.

Brian rubbed his sore fist and leaned his back against the wall staring up at the sun. A sun that Dom would only be able to see from behind prison walls through bars and fences. He leaned his head back against it and could feel his eyes watering up. Why on earth was he starting to cry. He was a man. A damn agry man. And this anger caused him to well up. Once more he knocked his head back against the wall. Hurting himself because he was so annoyed wouldn't help the situation. So he looked over at Letty and listened to her. Instead of answering he just shook his head. He mouthed 'sorry, it's over' to her.

"Over? what do you mean 'over'?" Letty hissed in disbelief. Her dark eyes widened as she examined Brian's desperate expression. Letty pulled herself together and her expression became firmer. "No, Brian. It hasn't even started." She said quietly and then turned to look around and see if someone was listening.
She bent over as her neck stretched a little, her face now in front of Brian's. "We owe him this. We both know we owe him everything." the words came out determined and harsh. She truly believed nothing was over, she knew they can try harder, they can do better. Dom would have done everything for them, thats the least they could do for him in return.

Letty's words struck a cord. As Brian had stated in the courtroom: If it wasn't for Dom he wouldn't be alive. Dom had hit Phoenix with his car when he was just about to shoot Brian. He owed him his life. So his first intention was to do whatever would help Dom. Then his conscience kicked in and told him that he had to stay on the legal side of things. Next thing he told himself how many times he had walked the fine line between being a cop and a criminal before for lesser reasons.
He took Letty by the arm and dragged her over to his Skyline. They couldn't talk like that just outside the LA federal court. "Get in there." When he sat inside with all the doors closed he asked. "What exactly are you trying to say, Letty?"

Letty sat tensed in the passenger seat, looking deep into Brian's eyes. Her dark, decisive look hasn't changed at all, maybe became firmer, if that was possible. She swallowed hard and blinked, meeting Brian's hesitating eyes once more. She felt a huge lump of energy building up in her stomach, as if she was able to lift a truck with her own hands right now.
"I'm saying we should do anything for him. Anything." she repeated, pressing and emphasizing each and every word she let out. Letty knew it wouldn't be long until Mia would find them and see what they were trying to do, Mia never supported their wild lifestyle and ideas, but there was no other way. "I'm saying...we haven't tried everything, yet." Letty added after a long moment of silence. Her words were still firm but not louder than a whisper.
Her eyes wandered around the car windows, wondering if Mia has already found them as she waited for Brian's reaction.

Her face showed so much determination and Brian had a pretty good idea what she was trying to say but could hardly beleive it. He shook his head. "Letty, we're no big time outlaws somewhere in the Wild West. You've done a few minor things and I'm an FBI agent for crying out loud. If you're really trying to say what I think you do then forget it!" He could just see the dissapointment and anger in her eyes. So he tried to explain it some more. "Plus it just wouldn't work. We'd all end up in jail. what good does that do?"
He followed her gaze towards Mias car. It was still sitting there. Brian wondered what was going through her head.

Letty's jaw clenched in response to Brian's words. She couldn't believe his defeatist attitude. It drove her nuts. "Are you serious?" she asked and her eyes widened. This was nothing like him, he couldn't just give up. "You can't give up. We owe him and we owe ourselves at least one try." she said and her hands twisted into fists.
"It might work and you know it. We tried everything else and the law system is one big screw up." she added, pushing him to get his agreement. She wasn't going to take no for an answer, and deep down inside she knew Brian won't give her 'no' for an answer. They have been through too much to chicken out at this point.

"Shit, Letty!" He pushed his hand against the dashboard and turned away from her. "What the hell do you want me to do? Obviously the system's got Dom down here. I know that but I'm no judge, I'm no lawyer. What am I supposed to do?" He looked back at her hoping she didn't ask him to quit his job again for Dom or go even further.

"I'm asking you to be the man who's making the right call, Dom would be that man if it was you in there and he in here." Letty raised her voice, pointing at the driver's east.
The atmosphere was tensed and Letty had a feeling that if the conversation was gonna go in that direction a little longer they'd be arguing. In these situations Letty was like a boy. She always knew how to use her fists better than her mouth. Her nostrils widened in anger once more, thinking what else can she say to convince him.
"I said we should give it a try. You, Brian, owe it to him more than anyone else. And do I really have to remind you everything you and him went through from day one?" Letty asked reluctantly and glanced in Mia's direction. A few flashbacks crossed her mind, memories from the good old days...Barbecues on the Toretto's porch, sipping Corona's in the living room while watching a stupid scary movie. She was in Dom's arms and Mia was in Brian's arms. Dom let Brian into their lives, otherwise that pretty boy had no chance. She was going to make him remember all of this if she had to.

With the atmosphere in the car gettin thick Brian shifted away from Letty. He knew she could throw a punch and probably would when she was angry enough. Yet the girl didn't intimidate him enough to just say yes, whatever you want. He also got louder. "Letty, what the hell are you talking about? What call?" was she talking about trying to get his boss to make a call or faking a call from his boss or did she mean he had to make the right decision. "Spell it out for me. I'm done. I've done all I could. My boss didn't back me up. Unless you want me to parachute into Doms prison with guns blasting and probably get killed while I'm at it I don't know what you expect from me?" He stopped to take a deep breath before he was going to loose it. The situation was bad enough and Letty didn't make it any better. "What are you going to do?" He asked in a lower voice.

"Were in this. Both." Letty replayed serenely, ignoring Brian's previous tune. "And you know it, Brian! We can't just leave him here." Letty said, trying not to crack and start tearing up.
"Do you really think you've done everything you could? Look me in the eyes and say that again." Letty said and paused, staring blankly into his sky blue eyes. "You can't. You didn't. I told you, this is just the beginning. We have to take things into our own hands. Screw your boss, Brian! you owe Dom much more than your crappy job." Letty sneered at Brian, pulling his badge off his pants belt.

His first reaction was to reach for his badge. But then he left it in her hands. "It's not about the job." He furrowed his brow. Letty had that look of determination on her face. That tough girl look. "Let me get this straight. Are you suggesting a prison break?" He looked at her in udder disbeleive hoping the answer would be no.

Mia sat in her car, holding her face in her hands. She was still shaking- from both shock and trying to keep herself from bursting into tears. She tried to control herself, but she just couldn't manage it. There was no way she was going to be able to drive like this.
She looked up and found Brian's skyline parked a little ways away. She bit her bottom lip worried. Surely Brian would take her home, right? Even if he was upset about-
Mia stopped her train of thought, refusing to think about what had just happened in the court room minutes ago. She grabbed her things and hurriedly locked her car behind her; she crossed the parking lot to Brian's car and stopped when she saw the two arguing inside.
Letty and Brian were fighting about something, but Mia couldn't make out what it was about. They were so caught up in their argument, they didn't notice Mia's approach or that she was watching them. Whatever they were arguing about, Mia wasn't sure she wanted to listen in...
But if she didn't catch a ride with Brian, she would be stuck. She took a deep breath and knocked on Brian's window, waiting for him to roll it down. "Can I get a ride with you?" She was surprised at how weak her voice sounded, like she had already been crying.

Brian actually jumped when Mia knocked on the window, which was pretty good sign that he already had a bad conscience before anything even happened. He looked at her pale face. When Mia's voice trembled he just wanted to jump out and hold her. With Letty's proposal he had completely forgotten about Mia. Quickly Brian opened the door for her and touched her arm. "Of course! Are you okay?"

Letty watched as Brian talked to Mia, she looked terrible. Letty assumed Mia thought it was the end. But she refused to call it 'the end', she won't let him walk away to prison like this. Letty eyed Brian suspiciously, thinking he was saved by Mia and this isn't over. They'll continue their small talk at home after they drop Mia.
As Brian started the car Letty turned to look over her shoulder, Mia was sitting gloomy and depressed in the backseat. "Don't worry, girl. Everything's gonna be okay." Letty said firmly and took a quick glance at Brian, knowing she'll get his consent and help - whatever it takes.

"Yeah, I just can't drive." Mia mumbled, climbing in the backseat. She chanted over and over to herself that she was going to be strong and not break down in front of these two. Letty was always the brave one; even Brian was the strong one when it came to situations like this. She really didn't want to break down and lose it all in front of these two...
Mia shifted again in the backseat, suddenly feeling guilty when Letty spoke again. Wasn't she loosing just as much as Mia was? "Yeah, I know." Mia closed her eyes and rubbed them. "I don't know what to do, Let, but he'll get out. He's got to..."

Brian gave Letty a warning look not to say anything yet. Then he turn around and gave Mia a somewhat comforting look. "Let's first digest this a bit and then talk about it at home."
Against his usual habit Brian pulled out of the parking lot slowly and drove home not braking the speed limit once. It's hard to speed and think about a screwed up situation from every possible angle but Brian seemed to become master of this domain lately. At least the part with the screwed up situations. Usually all the hard thinking led to a stupid gutt decision. This time too much was at stake, though.
