Continuing: A special piece of paper....
Thinking back to when he had first shot somebody Brian could still feel the helpless, awkward feeling it gave him even though it was justified. It had been Johnny Tran, who had simply gunned down a kid named Jesse, who was a member of the Toretto gang, a nice kid, way too young to die. "It sucks...and that won't change. You'll just have to figure out a way to deal with it so it doesn't eat you up." His eyes were stern. Brian knew exactly what he was talking about. He had seen a couple of people carry the guilt, a couple of colleagues quite, heck he had even thought about it.
Mira's push was too firm to resist so Brian leaned back and informed her. "I think he said I can go home today." The button above his head was quickly pushed before he stated in almost a whisper. "Any news about Jack? Charges?"

She nodded and removed her hands from his shoulders. "I'lll try not to let it." "As soon as you get clearence to leave we can go get that drink." She smiled and sat back down. "I know forsure he is getting charged with for shooting you though I don't know if they are considering it attempted murder. The car theifts having come up yet but I'm sure that they will put them on shortly. As for how he is doing last time I heard he was out of surgery and sleeping it off." She leaned back in her chair and waited.

"What if I don't press charges?" Already Brian was toying with the idea of letting him off the hook. Stupid brotherly guilt. Then again Jack had paid for shooting him. Brian just want his brother off the streets, away from whoever kept the money for all this illegal shit coming but he didn't want him on the electric chair or in prison for good.
Wearily he rubbed a hand over his face and shifted in bed, a motion that made him flinch and reminded him why he was still here.
A few minutes later one of the nurses on duty came and explained that the doctor had recommended he'd stay another day but he could always check himself out at his own risk, which Brian proceeded to do. "Where do I sign?" The young nurse gave him a strange look but handed him a form, pulled the needle of the drip out and handed him some pretty strong pain killers before he was released into his colleagues care, who was supposed to wheel him out. Staring Mira down he growled. "Forget it, I'm not sitting in that." Brian was already in a crappy mood anyway, no need for further humiliation.

"Alright you can walk. Just don't trip over your ego on the way out" She giggled and smiled. "Would you really drop the charges?" As they walked down the hall she kept a close eye on him making sure he was okay. "I mean I understand he is your brother but..." When they got outside she turned to him. "Where are we gonna go? Are you sure you're up to sitting in a bar? You really should just go home and rest." She blushed slightly and looked down. She was now realizing how worried she had been about him.

Her joke about his ego was actually pretty funny and reliefed some stress but made Brian laugh so hard that he had to lean on the wall and press his hand against his belly because he was afraid it would pop open again. He shook his head and smiled at Mira. "You...Don't do that again."
Then he slowly followed her down the hall to the elevator where he unconsciously rubbed his sore chest. Would he drop the charges? Let his brother get away with it? A gaze in the mirror of the elevator first showed him Miras serious, almost pained expression, then his own still bruised face. No, he couldn't let Jack walk. The thought alone made his chest tighten and it strangely hard to breath normally. His eyes met Miras in the mirror. "I don't know. I really don't."
Outside he was almost ready to turn around and go back inside. Leaning heavily on his new found friend he admitted. "That was just a joke...could you drop me off at home? But I do have booze at home. I hope the Capt. is not expecting me to show up for work today."

"Of corse I can drop you off." She helped him walk over to her charger. "I'm pretty sure the captain doesn't expect you at work anytime soon." She opened the door for him and helped him sit down. "You should have heard him scream at me this morning... He is pissed that I pretty much belew my cover again." Walking around the car she got in on her side and started it. Her hands finally done shaking. "I'm pretty sure I'll be on desk duty for the next three years." Sighing at the thought she took a cigarette out and lite it taking a long drag.

Thankful for her help Brian took a good look at her while she was helping him get into the car. She was actually a lot nicer than he would have given her credit for. "Why, did Jack see you?" The previous day had become a big blurr from the time Jack had pulled the trigger. "He can't do that. You did your job. You had to do what you did."
When she started the engine a small smile crept over his face. Her private car was cute, the low rumble felt like home.
Brian didn't think that Jack would actually attempt to finish this job because by the time he would be able to leave the hospital the deadline would be up. "Oh shit." That also meant that the big bad guy might finish what Brian had started. "Oh no." "If Jack doesn't finish the car list they'll kill him."

"Yeah he did." Mira pulled out of the hospital and into traffic weaving in between cars as she got on the highway quickly excelirating. "Well captian doesn't see it that way." She sighed and exhaled smoke. She turned her head and looked at Brian. "Well as long as he is under arrest they can't touch him. So he should be okay. But what are we gonna do when he is out?" Glancing back at the road Mira took one more long drag for her cigarette before flicking it out the window. Exhaling smoke from her mouth she tapped her fingures against the stearing wheel.

"True." Brian sank a little lower in his seat. "Should we really worry about that?" The question remained unanswered.
Brian watched the houses and cars fly by. Mira was a better driver than he would have expected. He let his head rest against the window and tried to keep his moans to himself. Closing his eyes one moment too long he fell asleep.
Somehow he felt in good hands-that was one thing that had changed completely within the last few days.

Mira glanced at him and noticed he fell asleep. Smiling she looked at the road. At least someone could sleep. She kept driving till she got to Brian's house. Stopping she turned off the car before setting her hand on Brian's shoulder. "Hey Brian time to wake up." She gently shook him. "You can sleep once you get inside." Getting out she walked around the car and helpped him out and held in a laugh. "I never would have thought that I would be back here on friendly terms."

Drousily Brian crawled out of the car and looked at her in confusion. "Why?" It took him a moment to recall what had happened. "Just forget that. Since yesterday everythings different. Who knows if I'd still be coming here without you." His hand was roaming around his pocket for his keys when he noticed something that had escaped his attention before. He was wearing men's clothes but they weren't his. "What the...where did this tuff come from?"
The door of his boat house clicked open and he pushed it aside end entered the chaos he called home. From the counter he first grabbed a can of coke and then two beers from the fridge. Holding it up he offered one to her. Tired he sat down and popped the top of his beer off. "To you."

"Who knows" She walked in. It was a mess, not that it bothered her. Her own apartment was probly just as messy. "Thanks" She took the beer and opened it. His next words caused a bright red blush to spread acrossed her face as she sat down. "Are you sure you are gonna be alright here by yourself? I can take you back to the hospital if you want." She took a drinkof her beer and tryed to hold back a yawn. Getting no sleep the nightbefore was catching up on her.

Grimacing Brian lowered himself onto his bed. "You honestly think I'd go back there on my own free will? Not a chance." He let his head fall back. Her yawning was contagious. "But you can stay here and help my drink myself stupid." To stress his point he gulped back half of the bottle laying down, a skill Brian had acquired during his time at the academy. All kinds of stupid shit he had learned but not what to do when your own brother has turned against you for, yeah for what? Money. "I hate his fucking gutts." He growled.

"Cheers to drinking ourselves stupid." She fallowed his lead and drank her beer. "As for your brother forget about it for now." She blinked and tryed to keep her eyes open. To keep herself awake she drank the rest of her beer. "We really shouldn't be drinking like this but right now I think both of us could use the distraction." She unclipped her gun and radio setting themon the table.

The first beer was making his head spin like crazy and closing his eyes didn't help much either. "Holy hell, what kind of beer is that." He laughed a little awkward. But he did agree about drinking all sorrows away seemed like a good idea right now. With his eyes closed he finished the bottle and told Mira. "That couch right there folds into a bed and mine here is big enough so you don't have to drink and drive." Opening his eyes again he added. "Give me another one from the fridge, please, pretty officer and grab yourself one as well."

"How did you know sleeping on pull out couchs was my favorite?" She tried to fight back the laughter but couldn't. "Thank you. It's very nice for you to let me stay here." She blushed and picked up the two empty bottles and walked to the fridge. Placing the bottles on the counter she pulled two new ones out of the fridge. "Need anything else while I'm up?"

Holding out his hand for the next bottle he stated. "Some TLC maybe." It was a joke of course. The last person he expected to be nice was Mira. He had treated her like a nuisance and a child. "Just kidding. I'm glad you're considering drinking my beer." Brian's speech was already getting a little slow, which was strange after one beer but maybe due to his exhaustion.

She laughed when she handed him the bottle. "Well I could be your nurse for the night." She ruffled his hair before she sat back down in the chair. Kicking off her shoes she opened her bottle. " Darling I am not one to refuse free drinks...ever." She took a drink. "Do you care if I smoke?" She pulled her pack out. Waiting a moment she smirked. "When I'm alseep I don't have to worry about some crazy girlfriend of your's killing me in my sleep do I?"

"Smoke outside,...actually forget it. But the nurse for the night sounds great." Instantly he had phantasies of her in a skimpy outfit. Damn, that beer hit him fast and hard. 'Good' he thought and took a drink of the second one. In reference to the girlfriend he muttered. "No, my last girlfriend lives in California and , well doesn't talk to me anymore. What about you? Is there another man in your life but daddy?"

She smiled slightly. "Nurse Hobbs at your service then." She winked at him and laughed. "No and it doesn't look like there will be another anytime soon. I always seem to have the worst taste in guys. Either they are way out of my league or like the last one have a thing for violence..." She put a cigarette between her lips and lit it. after taking a long drag she exhaled smoke. The combination of the beers and the cigarette was giving her a nice buzz though she was no where near close to how drunk Brian sounded.
