So, now she knew who Sam Ward really was, he had a pretty interesting background, problems with the law, robbed and got charged and served 3 years in prison, not only that but he also left Special Forces, this guy meant danger wherever he went to. But still that didn´t answer his involvement with Stephano, even though the head of the mob told both Toretto siblings Sam´s function with Brian´s brother, she knew there was more to it. She gripped a copy of the files in her hands; the originals were at her house. Even when Brian had a chance to go through Sam´s file he tried at all cost to persuade her to not contact with Sam, but she didn´t do as he told her. She parked the charger farther away from the coffee shop, she was determined to swim a little in the cool waters of the sea but first, she had to confront him. She entered the coffee shop and found him in one of the table located at the corner of the Starbucks. The line was getting longer to get a coffee, but she wasn’t here for a coffee. She slammed the file on the table tearing his gaze from his phone. She sat down and lowered her voice “You have a very interesting background, prison, you even were in Special Forces, you´ve been a very bad boy, Sam.” “I really hope you said my “Hello” to your mother, Emily”

Things were not going the way they were supposed to. Jack O'Conner proofed to be a much more resilient, hard nut than was good for him or Sam for that matter. The night had been long and Sam was desperate for some coffee and 'quiet' time. The perfect place for that was his favourite Starbucks down on the beach from where you could see the ocean. Just when he relaxed a little with half a cup pf strong hot coffee still to go and was looking at his phone for any new texts somebidy grabbed his phone and slammed it on the table. Instinctively he hand went to the gun in his belt, that was hidden under a button down shirt but when he recognised the woman in front of him he quickly dropped his arm. Mia Toretto was no thread to him even though she seemed to try real hard. For a second his eyes lingered on the file on the table, which sported a small picture of him and lot's of other more or less useful information. He then looked up at her with no hint of a smile or fear or any other emotion and stated calmly. "Hello Mia." A humorless smirk followed that soon vanished. "You have no idea what you're about to do to yourself." Without any further comment he sipped his coffee. It was a damn shame that this pretty girl was linked to Stephano but what was worse was that she didn't seem to know what was good for her.

"Why don´t you tell me?" she challenged him, she just couldn´t let this go...so what if he knew everything about her? As long as he didn´t get close with Brian or his kids or Dom too.
She eyed his hand. "It wouldn´t be a good idea to get out that gun and shoot me, don´t you think?" They kept looking at each other and she wasn´t intimidated by him. If looks could kill...
She open the file and flip some pages until she pulled out a picture of Sam´s mother. "She´s very pretty, you have her eyes... I hope you don´t mind if I pay her a visit," placing the picture down, taking a small bottle of water from her purse taking a quick sip.

It seemed that Mia had her mind set on making him talk. Sam had two choices now. He could talk and tell her something or he could threaten her. Since Mia was not only stunning but also determined and gutsy, which Sam found attractive, he decided to play dumb. "Yes, mom's got the blue eyes and dad was a dark fellow, so what? Why do you keep mentioning her, Mia? Are you trying to blackmail me?" He wrinkled his brow and cocked his head to the side. "What do you want, Mia? I already told you that your uncle won't appreciate it if I share his business with you and it doesn't look like you're willing to ask him either." A very brief smile followed because the ex soldier knew it was true. "Why do you want to know so badly what my assignment is? It has nothing to do with you?" Sam searched her pretty face for a reaction while he sipped on his coffee and gave Mia time to back off if she wanted to before he fed her more crap. Sam leaned back with his hands behind his back to seem as relaxed as he could while his mind was wokring over time how to get Mia off his back. "I can tell you that much: I work with his daughter and make sure the international business goes well." Sam really hoped Mia would buy into his story because it would be a shame if he had to get rough with her or even tell her uncle. For now he'd keep his knowledge about his targets brother, who happened to be her ex, to himself. He could always use that as leverage later.

She chuckled. He really thought she was buying what he was telling her? He had a point, she could ask him herself but Stephano will get suspicious just like Sam was at the moment, more like suspicious he knew everything about her.
“Cut the crap, Sam. We both know you cannot go back to my uncle and even if you do, do you really think he´d believe your words? “ In a way Stephano would, her background said it all but Sam supposedly had the brains, she could play her cards right and make it all seem like the ex soldier was trying to hurt his (Stephano)niece for some reason. She drank some water, her brown eyes never leaving his face.
“You do know why I am asking what I´m asking you. But hey, if you don´t want to tell me a thing about your assignment that´s fine but you and I know how ill your mother is, and as busy as you are trying to catch your prey… it would be a shame if something happened to her,” she was going to drive him crazy until he finally decided to share his assignment or get really angry towards her and whatever it came first, it seem to be working by the way his green eyes change to a darker color.
She was getting tired of playing games with him although she would never hurt his mother, she was so desperate to find answers, and although she might be annoying towards him deep down knew where she was getting herself into, Brian warned her and now she was walking away, too damn late now that he was really pissed.

Mia kept pressing for information and obviously already knew what his assignment was judging by her words. Sam had done his homework, too, and knew who her ex was and that his target happened to be the man's brother. Apparently Mia still had ties to both of them, otherwise she wouldn't go out on a limb for them.
The one thing that bothered Sam though was that she kept mentioning his mother. The woman was severly ill and had been suffering so much that any further trouble might be her end. Worry rose in his chest when Mia mentioned her name again and that she'd pay her a visit. Who knew what the young woman would do out of desperation. After all she was a mobsters niece and probably grew up with violence.
Quickly drinking the rest of the coffee Sam got up, grabbed his cell phone and keys and got up, telling Mia. "Alright...but not here." His eyes quickly scanned the people around them who didn't show any interest in them.
He then walked to the door, stepped outside and walked to the back of the building where he waited for Mia. When she followed him with weary eyes he leaned his back against the wall. "So you want to know everything? Will you stop mentioning my mother then?"

She stopped walking and turned when he finally agree to tell her everything. She followed him outside, her steps careful. It was a bad idea to be stuck with a guy like Sam knowing she kept pushing him for answers and his long rap sheet.
She kept her distance and leaned on the wall opposite to him. "Are you going to tell me what I want to know?" She answer his quesiton with another question and folded her arms, brown eyes watching his every move. "Don´t do anything stupid and start talking..." she demanded.

When they both stepped outside and were protected from onlookers by the walls of the cafe Sam was ready to clear up all doubts. The fact that Mia was Stephanos niece however made him question every step and every move he was taking and be extra careful.
So he gave it another try. Heäd fee her a little more info, which already meant that he was going out on a limb. "You can't tell this to anyone, especially not your uncle." he swallowed visibly and kept his eyes on the corner of the building to make sure nobody was coming. "You uncle isn't happy because I ran into some problems on my last assignment. Now he wants me to clean up the mess and recover what somebody else has lost. That's all I can tell you." His eyes narrowed while he was trying to read her expression.

She moved from the wall and approached Sam, once she was in front of him she spoke "I already know that and that is not what I want to hear," she frowned Stephano told her and Dom about Jack losing something...but what?
"I am sure my uncle let you know about what your assignemnt lost, what was it? I am also sure he also gave you a deadline to finish what he asked you to do, and if you don´t do it your mom will pay the price,"
Was he going to speak what she wanted to hear? "If I wanted to tell my uncle I wouldn´t be here, and I´d certainly tried to avoid you that day at the beach." There had to be more than that...

"You simply don't give up, do you?" He said through clenched teeth and finnaly turned his eyes away from the street and to her.
She had said enough not only to make him beleive that she could not go to her uncle with this, most likely because she was still involved with the O'Conners and wanted to help them. She also said enough to make him snap by mentioning his mother again and how the only person that meant something to Sam would 'pay'.
Without blinking or hesitating he closed the distance between them reached around her head to grab the hair on the back of her head. With the other hand he suddenly held her chin. This way he could easily snap her neck.
Then he got close enough for her to feel his breath on her skin. "Stop digging or it'll be your own grave you're digging." His clear green eyes bore holes into her skull while he could feel her chest rise and fall rapidly. She was afraid. Good.

She wasn´t expecting the sudden move, her hands went to his as if she could removed them from her chin and head. Her respiration changed, adrenaline and fear sending her heartbeat to a more rapid pace. "Can you really do that, Sam?"
"People know everything that went down that day at the beach and know who you are, kill me and Stephano will make you suffer," She had the nerve to dare him to hurt her... she complain a little as he pulled her hair even more.
"I dare you to do it, you son of a bitch," in a flashback all her life came to mind, her family, her friends... what would he do next?

This was a game he knew how to play...how to instill fear in people...make their hearts race, make them pee their pants. He had done it before many times and would do it again if he had to. Sam never hurt anybody just for the money. He had to havce a damn good reason and usually it was self preservation. Mostly because Stephano threatened him, sometimes it was others like right now Mia.
Pulling back on her dark hair a little harder he came so close to her ear that his cheek brushed up against hers while he whispered. "You know I will." He reached for the short, wide knife in his boot and brought it up so she could see the reflection of the sun on it for a split second. A moment later the cold steel was on the back on the kneck and a quick jerk followed.
With his face cold he stepped back from Mia holding the knife in one hand and some of her hair in the other. His eyes still trained on her he walked away backwards and then turned to leave.
Hopefully Mia would understand his warning this time. There would not be any more.

The reflection of the sun through the knife made her close her eyes for a moment, she could feel the knife close to her neck followed by a quick sharp pain, her hand instinctively went to her neck to wipe a small trail of blood, her gaze locked with his and a lock of her hair in his hand.
The warmth from his eyes was gone replaced by coldness, her eyes never left his until he disappear form her sight, until then she noticed she was holding her breath. She leaned on the wall and tried to steady her heartbeat, shaky breaths followed.
Could she keep putting herself in danger? She was so stubborn and yet she just couldn´t stop, she didn´t get the answers she was looking for. It was good thing her long hair was not in a ponytail so it could still cover her neck so the small wound wasn´t visible to anyone. She walked to her car and went straight home. Wishing Brian, Faye nor Dom were at the house, they couldn´t know what went down.
Before stepping out she took her cell phone and dialed the phone number in one of the sheet from Sam´s file. “Good afternoon, I would like to visit a friend and I´d like to know from what time to time I can go over there,” she exchanged a few more words with the nurse and ended the call.

The encounter with Mia shook him up a little more than usually. When Sam arrived back at his car and sat down he could see his fingers shaking. Whether it was because of Mia's thread to his mother or whether it was because he almost hurt a potentially nice woman and scared the crap out of her, he didn't know. Maybe Mia was just another person in a bad situation who had her back against the wall...just like him. Yet he had to remind himself to forget about compassion and see her for what she was 'the enemy'.
Dropping his hand he took a deep breath and slid his sunglasses on. Maybe it was time to let her uncle know about her escapades. Starting the engine he looked back at the cafe but she was gone so he pulled out of the parking space and drove away.
