Brian was at the end of his rope with his brothers and kids life on the line. He simply didn't know what to do anymore. So he was reaching for the last straw he could think of. A man who wouldn't back down or take Stephanos bribes and had a good reason to help Brian...agent Hobbs.
Even though Brian liked to keep some of his dignity he overcame this obstacle and called the man up to ask him for a quick meeting.
It was at a bar downtown where they found a corner and Brian explained the situation from his brothers stupid actions to the threat that a certain 'Sam Ward' had extended to his very own grandchildren, the newborn twins.
Carefully the ex-cop handed him the picture of the twins that Sam had dropped off to instill fear.
Brian concluded his explanation by sighing. "You know I wouldn't come to you if I had any other choice. You're the only government official who will have the gutts to bring Stephano in front of a judge. We need the man behind bars and can't trust anybody else because he has half of the force on his payroll."

Hobbs only recently found out about the situation involving Mira's twins, and predictably, Brian as well. He heard things through the grapevine about Stephano Dieseli, and had even thought about pursuing a case against him, but compared to serious matters that stretched overseas, he never found the time. Now though, all of his attention was focused on this mob. Threatening family didn't sit well with him, so when Brian made the call, he listened. Who knew, they had a common goal for once.
His face remained expressionless as Brian spoke, he studied the picture Brian handed him, and only then showed a swell of anger. "We don't need this douche behind bars, we need him and his whole mob GONE. I've looked into these guys, they're murders as defined by the book, it's almost their business. We'll take them down." Hobbs promised as he further stared at the ominous writing, he almost forgot who was even sitting across him.

The man's words were comforting for Brian who had been in inner uproar to say the least. If he trusted somebody to 'take them down' on the force it was the man in front of him. So after days of havoc a small smile played on his lips. "I know you will." He exchanged a glance with the man and then said. "I'm really sorry my brother is so careless. He never thinks ahead and likes playing with danger. This time he's gone too far. I already told him what I think about that." He raised his hand to show him the scabs on his knuckles. Now that the apology was out he asked. "How do we go about this? We were thinking about setting up a trap but I'm worried about the guy who sent me the picture. Mira and the kids are at a motel for now but who knows whether he'll find them." He gave Hobbs the little information Mia had scribbled down for him on a piece of paper: Sam Ward, mother in St. Mary's hospital, former soldier, did a few years for assault and B&E, coffee addict.

"He's a new class of idiot." Hobbs said about Jack. "He's going to get his ass kicked a second time after this is settled." He shook his head in disgust. He had little to no remorse for the younger O'Conner. His moronic decision led to his consequences, but he managed to wrap up his grandchildren in this somehow...He was a grandfather now? Damn he was getting old.
He could easily read the deep concern in Brian's expression. That was already obvious to him, he couldn't imagine how desperate he must have been to go to the guy who just a little over a month ago was trying to put him away for a long time. That was water under the bridge now, this was an issue much more serious than that, and even Hobbs could see that teamwork was the only option.
"So this is Dieseli's dog?" He grabbed the picture of Sam and studied it for a moment. "Former soldier, eh? Curious why he would hop to the other side of liberty." He then saw the scribbled writing on it that read 'mother at St. Mary's,' that might explain his motive. "I bet this guy ain't loyal to Dieseli." He mused at shot a glance at Brian. "The best thing would be if we had someone working inside, someone who could pin them down on every crime, and knows the inter workings of their whole operation. Then we could go straight to the big guys and end this as quickly as it began."
