It wasn't hard to convince his department to give him a few days to take a crack at this mob. Now he was armed with inside information, and had a game plan. That didn't mean it was a small task, but nothing Hobbs did was small, and boy would it feel good to take out L.A's largest organized crime. Only an hour or two was spent digging through every profile on Sam Ward. By the end of it, Hobbs probably knew the kid's background better than Sam himself. Hobbs easily obtained a search warrent, and now it was time to go see what's what with this guy, and have a little "heart to heart." In addition to having a discussion about his newborn targets. A black Dodge Charger unmarked squad car skidded to a stop outside of Sam's residence. Out stepped the big burly agent, and began his march towards the front door. With several assertive knocks, the door was soon answered and Hobbs wasted no time in showing his badge and introduced himself. "Agent Hobbs. FBI. Whether you like it or not I'm coming in." He forced his way past and into the house.

things weren't going according to plan. On the contrary. They were getting ugly fast and Sam was sure that not only Jack O'Conner's life was on the line but also his own if he couldn't make Jack accomplish what he needed to do. The pressure was on by sending the picture of the babies to his family as well as taking two of the guy's fingers, that were now sitting in a plastic bag in Sams fridge in case Jack did come through with the 'goods'. Sam was a man of word and he'd give him back what was his. In this case some body parts. Tonight he felt the pressure himself though because Stephano had given him the order to kidnap the babies, which was something Sam wasn't happy with at all and hadn't gotten himself to do yet. Instead he had paid his mother a visit in the hospital to make sure nobody had gotten to her. He even considered moving her somewhere else but she was too sick to do that. So later he sat on his couch watching the news and having a sandwich, when a knock on the door had him draw his gun. Through the small gap he gazed at a bulky man, who shoved a badge in hsi face and then pushed his way in. Quickly Sam shoved his gun in the back of his belt and followed him. "As far as I know you need a search warrant, agent Hobbs. I didn't invite you in." His gaze was dark and the green eyes never left the man's shaved skull. If Sam was somebody to get jumpy easily now would be the time. But he wasn't so he simply grabbed the door and held it open for him.

Hobbs grabbed the piece of paper that was the search warrant out of his binder and produced it for Sam to see. "I'm not here to arrest you, I'm not even here to reprimand you. I'm here to talk sense." The agent looked Sam in the eye and then proceeded into his house.
"You work for Dieseli, took the job because of your mum. Am I right?" He turned his head once again to Sam. "That's a big man. I admire that." Hobbs started off by sounding as non-confrontational as possible. He wasn't here to bash his head in, he was here to get an insider.

Sam took a moment to look at the paper in the man's hand to make sure it was real. How on earth had he gotten a search warrant for him? His expression remained motionless but his mind wasd working overtime trying to figure out which of his crimes could have lead to this encounter. Hobbs narrowed the search down for him by mentioning Dieseli. Even the mention of his mothers name could not bring him out of his solemn state, not did the words of admiration. He was used to threats. Most of them were empty, especially if they came from Feds. He sat down on a chair and demonstratively placed his gun on the glass coffee table. "As far as I know your search warrant doesn't entitle you to interrogate me. But feel free to let me know if the law changed." His eyes narrowed slightly when he looked at Hobbs. "You're waisting my time, agent Hobbs." The name was already noted and sounded somewhat familiar. Where had he recently come across that name?

"Interrogation or a search, your choice." Hobbs offered, unfazed by the gun placed on the table. Understandably, the kid wanted him gone. Nonetheless, his response practically reaffirmed everything the agent said. Sam was not a dedicated mobster, he was a hired gun with his back to the wall.
Sam's comment also prompted Hobbs to chuckle, he had another know-it-all here. "That's a very immature response, Sam." He stepped over to a chair opposite Sam and took a seat, leaning towards in him. "Working dirty jobs, a gun to your back constantly, the need to always look over your shoulder. That's the kind of life you want, huh?" The agent grinned and then trained his eyes back on Sam. "No, of course it isn't. You're a soldier, a warrior. But warriors lead dignified, respected lifestyles. Nothing you do for Dieseli is dignified, or respectable. But that's your future." Hobbs said in a deep but challenging manner.

It was interesting to see how cool the agent took the fact that Sam had just placed a gun on the table and didn't even ask to see his permit. He came off as somebodz who was working outside the box. When he offered 'interrogation or search' Sam replied with a smirk. "I'll take coffee and cream, nothing else." He certailny didn't appreciate some fed coming to his doorstep.
The man's whole demeanor was very calm and collected, yet somewhat fear instilling. His approach to the situation was new though. Instead of threatening him with jail time he was getting him a glimpse of what a 'good job' could be like.
Putting his hands in his lap Sam squinted slightly at Hobbs. "I see you've done your homework." Suddenly he remembered where he heard the name before. It was written on the footend of the bed of the woman in the hospital. O'Conners spouse. The babies. This guy had to have some sort of personal interest. Maybe he was related. A very brief flash of enlightment crossed his features before he continued. "So you're offering me a job? Is that why you're here?" His face got a little friendlier to mislead Hobbs but not for long. "I think I'll pass."

Hobbs understood why Dieseli hired this guy. He made it look as though he was very sure of himself, and did a good job at not allowing his train of thought to cross into his speech. For a second the agent did wonder if he was actually waisting his own time with the kid. But he was pretty certain that beyond that hard shell he put up, there was something much more movable inside.
Hobbs shook his head briefly. "I'm offering you a second option. For yourself, for your mom." Hobbs took a second to peer into his eyes and then stood up from his chair, turning towards the door. What he didn't want to do was tip off to what was going to happen tomorrow night. Hobbs took a business card with his number written on the back and tossed it on the coffee table. "You think about this, ask yourself exactly who you are, then you call me." He stated and made his way out the door.

For the second time in two days his mother was mentioned by two, three different people including Stephano. Everybody seemed to want to use her as leverage and it worked. Even though it didn't show Sam grew more and more nervous about her safety. What good was this dirty job if it didn't safe her but put her in greater danger? Apparently the conversation was already over with any insults, physical violence or real threads, which was strange considering the profession of his 'guest'. "You got a search warrant to offer me a second option. That's questionable." He stated in a louder voice to stop Hobbs from leaving. Obviously they had something on his that allowed the judge to issue a warrant...but what was it? With the card in his hand he followed the man outside and asked loud an clear. "What exactly are you offering in exchange for what?" This man had him more on edge than any thug with a gun.

Hobbs actually wasn't expected the kid to call back after him, he believed it would take a few hours or even a day for him to come around. A grin came to his face when he heard his voice, now he had him.
He turned his large figure back towards the doorway, where he saw Sam's figure. "It got your attention, didn't it?" He left it as a very open-ended response.
"Your freedom from the mob and treatment for your mother, an exchange for an honest confession and testimony." Hobbs finally allowed the beans to spill, closely studying Sam's reaction.

it did get Sam's attention. From the very start working for the mob seemed like a bad idea but nobody else was offering that kind of money for a man with no other skills than hurting and killing others...what he'd been trained for in the military. Sam needed the money for his mother so he took maed use of the one and only opportunity coming from an employer who didn't care what your past was. At first things were thrilling and gave him a feeling of power and high but soon he realized how much they played him and used him and could put him out like a light. So he had been wishing for a way out but the only way out was with concrete ion both feet at the bottom of the ocean.
Obviously the agent had some intel on him but Sam wasn't about to spill the beans before he knew more. "I'm listening. Tell me what you know about me and show me proof, agent Hobbs. What's the warrant for...I would like to know why you come knocking on my door out of all the possible doors you could be knocking on." Sam had a feeling he had the upper hand if he was being offered generous deals. He had expected a totally different treatment. With the hint of a smile on his lips he push his door back open. "Why don't we talk inside?"

Hobbs thought much of Sam's words, though his thoughts didn't immediately change his expression. It sounded like Sam wanted to know just how closely he was being tracked...by whoever. He wanted to get inside the agent's brain and figure out his every possible motive, method, and just how much trouble Sam was in. The trouble is, this was not Agent Hobbs' first rodeo. And so he gave a rather sly smile and replied. "You know plenty well what the proof is, Sam. You also know that what you're doing can send you to lock up for a long, long time." Hobbs said with a twist of sinister in his voice, almost entertained by the reaction from his response. "The issue is not why I'm here." Hobbs bluntly stated as he crossed the doorway back into the home and turned to look at Sam. "All you need to be worried about is my offer. I know you have a free will to choose what's right."

So the agent wasn't going to give up what he had on him, which was a bad decision because as long as Sam wasn't getting charged for any bad stuff, he wasn't about to make as deal with the Feds. "For all I know you could be here for an outstanding parking ticket. I don't know what you mean by 'what I'm doing'. What AM I doing, agent Hobbs?" His eyes narrowed because it was time to quit playing games.
"What exactly are you offering in exchange for what exactly and where is the paper work?" He was pretty sure the guy had something on him but he wouldn't risk his life by spilling the beans. "I think we both know you have to be a little more precise to make my wheels spin."
This man was no newby but he should also know that there has to be decent bait on the end of the line.

Hobbs was starting to become a little irritated, and it showed in his expression. He knew damn well that the kid knew exactly what he was doing, and saw his continued badgering on the subject as a means of getting a glimpse at something he was up against, which would be a safe bet that info would make it back to Stephano. He had to question himself if showing up here was even a good idea.
"You work for pay as a set of hands under an international drug lord who's rap sheet could put him in the electric chair several times over. That it isn't enough for you?" Hobbs said sternly with an annoyed look in his expression. "You're a very by the book type of guy I see. I can understand why Dieseli hired you." Hobbs chuckled a bit in response to his question about paperwork. That's what he was thinking about? Paperwork? "You heard the deal. You give an honest account of everything you've done under Stephano as well as what you've witnessed him do, and you and your mother will be taken care of. That's the deal. Either give me a response or stop wasting my time."

This time Sam had a hard time hiding his reaction when the agent simply rambled off the truth about his job and identity. The man did not give any details of the exact crimes Sam had been committing over the years but he surely was onto him since he had a search warrant. Giving up what he knew about Stephano would be like signing his own death warrant. "You cannot take care of me and my mother." He stated through gritted teeth. This was getting to him. This guy was offering him a wy out, which was a great opportunity, yet Sam's knowledge told him he couldn't pull it off. "If you really knew who you're up against you'd know that his eyes and hands are everywhere." From one moment to the next he calmed down and opened the door. "I guess we've just been waisting each others time. Good bye, agent Hobbs." He was tempted to add 'greet your daughter' but refrained from it.

"And Stephano can?" Hobbs challenged. He was beginning to believe Sam was having conscious issues he was trying to repress, he knew what he was doing had its moral issues, and he would automatically become upset with anyone who challenged that. "You know what the better road is."
He was right, Dieseli was everywhere...but that was about to change. Nonetheless, that's not something he could risk spilling to Sam right now, so he remained silent. Maybe once he witnessed Dieseli's collapse himself, he'd come around. He moved out the open door. "Think hard, Sam. You know you have your free will." He added at last and made his way back to his truck.

The agents words sounded very tempting. But Sam also knew it could just be a trap and right now he wasn't desperate enough to come crawling to the authorities. "The better way is for you to leave right now if you have nothing concrete." Admittedly the agent had dropped Stephanos name, which was pretty concrete.
He listened to him say that he had his free will but all he could do was smirk. Free will. that was something he had given up on years ago when he joined the military. He was better under somebody elses command with somebody else responsible for his actions.
On his way out he called after the bulky man. "I think I should warn you. You're sticking your nose in things that are way too much for you to handle." If agent Hobbs continued his crusade against Stephano he'd be dead sooner than he saw it coming.
Behind the closed door Sam shot a brief glance at the card before he tossed it in the garbage. He had no intentions to use it. Moving over to the window he made sure the guy was really gone before he placed a call to his boss informing him about the new development. Just when he picked up he had a change of heart though. What if Stephano decided to get rid of him because he was worried he'd take Hobbs offer. "Just wanted to let you know that everything is under controll." He bit his lip.
