The sun was rising when they picked up Jack's plates near San Diego and Sam was on his way with a cup of coffee in the cup holder and a gun under the seat. He was prepared to do whatever it took to make sure those goods made his way back to Stephano. First he needed to do one thing though: His eyes briefly graced over the back seat where two little babies were sound asleep in a large basket, that used to hold fruit. Sam had wrapped them in blankets to keep them warm. The whole night he'd been weighing his options of what to do with them because he couldn't take them along when it was time to follow Jack and he didn't feel good about leaving them alone. Sam knew no woman he could trust with such a task, nor did he have any accomplices so finally he came up with a strange idea. He called Mia and asked for her to meet him- alone- or else the kids would be dead. Slowly he came to a halt near the park he had told her. From the top of a small hill he could easily spot anybody coming. With a satisfied smirk he made out Mia in the old Charger, who seemed to be alone. His fingers tightened around the gun as he got out and waited for her to do the same. "Mia, thanks for coming."

Sam never showed up at the hospital what she did receive was a phone call from him asking her to meet her in a park. Just before driving she looked under the seat where a loaded pistol was, she took it and placed it in her bag just in case. In less than ten minutes she arrived at the park and got out of the car approaching Sam. "Where are they?" She asked him, her voice cold towards him. It was hard to hide her anger and he could see it by just looking at her eyes.

Within seconds Sam knew Mia came alone and that she had a bag slung over her shoulder which she was holding just a little too tight. Her tight clothing left no room store a weapon anywhere else.
Lifting his hands to show that he was unarmed, at least for now, he calmly said. "They are fine, Mia. Take a moment to listen to me s it is crucial for their survival and that of your ex and his brother." He waited until she was really listening and then explained. "I have no identions of hurting those kids. They are leverage, that's all, but for now I need you to help me with them." He waited again to let his words sink in. "I know you're a nurse and know what to do with them but there's one thing you cannot do." A cry from the car that was parked a few meters away interrupted him and made him cringe. That constant wining was really getting on his nerves and made it hard to concentrate. "You must not tell anybody that you have them. Not their father, mother and especially not your uncle or I will make damn sure that they will disappear together with you." His hand was now on her shoulder making sure she understood. "Do you understand this? Mia? Once this is over I will call you and you can give them back but for now...you have to be quiet."
To make her understand what he was capable of he told her. "Come with me."
In the back seat of the car were the two squearming babies but instead of reaching in to hand them over he pulled out the cooler and opened it for her to take a look at Jack's severed fingers. "Agreed, Mia?"

She relax her hold on the purse, Sam showed her he was unarmed, the flashback of Sam´s hand around her neck reminded her he could still defend himself without a gun. She was capable of take care of those babies, yes she was a nurse, what she didn´t like was him telling her what she could or couldn´t do.
She slap his hand away from her shoulder but did follow him. The babies were starting to fuss, they were probably hungry, maybe cold. Mia hated the fact she couldn´t call Brian, after all she did promise she was going to do it but also knew he meant bussiness and she wasn´t going to place the life of the babies in danger.
Lastly, he showed her Jack´s fingers and she winced, the pain Jack must have felt when he was cutting them must have been terrible. "I understand," she spoke but didn´t feel safe around him.

Sam saw the look in her dark eyes and at that very moment hated what he was doing. How would he have loved to tell her that he had no choice because if he didn't put pressure on Jack, he'd be dead and so would his mother be. He wanted to tell Mia that he wasn't a bad person. But why? Why on earth did this strange woman provoke these feelings in him? Swallowing against his urge he nodded. "I trust you will do the right thing for these kids." Then he reached into the car and pulled out the basket that held both babies. Carefully he handed them over to her. A certain relief washed over him when he no longer held them in his possession but they were in the hands of a nurse. A faint smile played on his lips as he nodded to Mia. "I have to do this." He stopped himself before he would appear weak because as much as he hated it he'd go through with his task. Then he turned and walked to the driver side. When she took the basket with the kids he quickly snapped a picture of her. If she got any ideas this picture would go to the police making them believe it was Mia who kidnapped them. "More leverage." He told her.

She felt better when she held the basket in her hands, the sound of a camera quickly caught her attention and she look up. What seem strange was how he was acting, his words too, it looked like he wanted to tell her more, to justify his actions to her. She wanted nothing more than to call Brian and share the good news about his kids, but that picture in Sam´s phone prevent her too do it.
She couldn´t go back to her house, she wanted to, instead she took a quick look at Sam and got in the car being careful with the babies. She left the park feeling a little sad and afraid. Sad because she knew Brian was like crazy searching for his kids, she now had them but couldn´t take that chance and afraid because she didn´t want Brian to get the wrong impression of her, she didn´t want him to believe she was helping Sam and this waiting was on purpose...
But right now she needed to buy some baby stuff... she hope the babies weren´t so picky the moment she fed them formula...they were still so small. She walked in the grocery store ignoring the looks people were giving her as they noticed the newbrons in a fruit basket.
After a few more minutes she was out of the store and driving around town to find a cheap hotel... inside the hotel room she took her time to feed each of the newborns, change their diapers and put them back to sleep but still she felt bad plus the guys were going to notice she was missing... "crap," she sighed as she join the twins and try to get some sleep before they woke up again.

Sam sat in his car and watched Mia carry away the two children. What an odd situation for the woman. Here she was wroking against her mafia uncle and for her ex boyfriend, who had children with another woman. Why on earth she would do that he didn't understand. Only that this young woman was something special. It had only taken a long look and a few words for Sam to spark his interest in her. Silently he wished things were different and that she would somehow believe that he wasn't all that bad. Or was he? Was the good chore that he accredited himself with just fiction? Didn't his actions proof he was just another violent criminal?
With one look back at her and the kids he started the engine and called his boss. "I'm on my way down to Mexico. O'Conner is heading there. I put some pressure on him and I think it's worked." He hung up and pulled onto the road muttering to himself. "You'd better be smart, Jack."
