Daniel glanced over at his black BMW for a brief moment before he regarded the young woman again, raising his shoulders in a shrug. He didn't have any urgent business to tend to yet, not until later that day anyway. "Looks like you're in luck. I've got some time to burn at this very moment."
His eyes cut to the other man at the sudden outburst, only now acknowledging he was still lingering around. "Let me guess, shitty pay-out." When he motioned toward the piece of paper in the man's hand, a strange sort of amusement washed over his face, though it was faint and barely noticeable. "It's in situations like this that you realize we're worth more to them dead than we are alive. You should see the royal compensation your wife and kids will get when you're a fatality on the job. It would almost make you want to shoot yourself in the face."

'What a strange comment' the agent thought. "I think I'm still worth more to them alive." He replied with a frown. "Is that what your wife told you?"
Brian was lucky he was still on the payroll and not rotting in prison after all the crap he had pulled. "No, it's cool. I just hate paper work. That's why I'm in the field, just like you." Brian was pretty sure that that was the only thing they might have in common. This fellow didn't come off as a guy he could be best buddy with. With a quick look at Faye he wondered whether he should offer to come along but Faye was a big girl and could handle herself.

"I'm sure she would have at some point if I still had one. My ex-wife finally filled for a divorce when a raid on a known drug gang went ape-shit and I took a bullet. Said she couldn't stand the uncertainty anymore." Daniel shrugged his own words off like it was nothing. It only reminded him of his two team members not having been as lucky as he had, the honorable burying they had been given and the royal amount of money their families had received to 'compensate' the loss of their loved ones. It was that fucked up side of the job that had pushed him over the line between right and wrong and made him choose his own side over anyone else's.
The corner of his mouth twitched up in a smirk when he saw the look being passed toward the brunette. "Why don't you join us for a coffee, O'Conner. I can see you don't like me very much, which pains me, and I'm sure Mr. Anderson can wait a little while longer, right miss Perez?"

Faye looked between the two men, slightly wondering if there was any new person that Brian got on with instantly, it seemed like any man that came along was instantly a threat, licking her lips she turned back to Daniel, nodding her head, she regarded the paper work in his hand for a moment.
"They also have a habbit of making you run around for it"She stated softly, knowing that the only reason Brian was even after the pay out was because he had been stabbed trying to keep her safe, and she was grateful for that.
Faye didnt miss the look being throw towards her by Brian, apparently he was still far to overprotective of her, despite the fact she had prooved she could handle herself in situations now and the amount of time she had spent prooving she didnt need him protecting her.
At Dainels comment she shot Brian a look wondering what he would say, actually hopeing the answer would be know, her dark gaze turned back towards Daniel and she smiled. "Faye please, and dont take it personely he doesnt like any one new"

Brian scrunched up his nose and gave Faye a weird look. "Huh? What do you mean?" In his book he was friendly to everybody until they started being unfriendly to him. Brian considered himself an open, nice guy but he was a little protective. "I'd love to hang out in a coffee shop on the beach." The smile directed at both of them was more of a mock gesture than anything. "And I hate doctors. So I'll joing you two for a bit and then head off." Yes, he just couldn't help trying to protect little Faye even through she'd been trained by Walter and was a full grown woman. Knowing that Daniel had been married made him feel a little better about the man but it also gave him an uneasy feeling. The one he always got when he was undercover. The main reason he didn't want to be with the FBI any longer.

"Don't worry about it. If I would take every hint of hostility directed at me personal, I wouldn't be any good at my job." Daniel combined his words with a smile, his eyes briefly cutting back to Brian before he turned his head toward his BMW.
"The lady can ride with me, if she wants, and show me the way." Turning his attention back to Brian, he mirrored the man's own mocking expression. It was hard not to with the attitude the blonde was still displaying toward him. Like he had pissed in his territory or something. "And I'm guessing it's best if you'll be taking your own car. Seeing as how you got a doctor's appointment later."

Brian nodded. "Allright. Let's head over there. I'll meet you at the Coffee Bean." He walked away to the Skyline that was parked two streets down. On his way there he thought about the possibility of Mia beÃng left a widow. It made him tense and uneasy so he decided to chase it away with some loud music. While backed out he tuned into the local rock station and turned it up full blast. Weaving in and out of the city traffic to Metallica he was soon in a better mood and caught up with the others at the coffee. he'd left the suit jacket and tie in the car and unbottoned the top buttons. "Since I'm in for a huge compensation coffee's on me." He offered.

Faye shook her head, watching BRian leave before turning her gaze back to Daniel, she offerd him a smile, nodding her head at his offer to drive. "Pretty simple, just head down to the highway"SHe stated with a smile, folding her arms as she shifted over to his car.
"Brian's kinda a nice guy when you get to know him, he's just overly protective"She muttered, it was cute in a kinda annoying way, licking her lips she shrugged her shoulders, but she was glad that he hadnt let Brians attitude or comments get to him, obviously he was good at his job. Slideing into the car with him she gave him a smile, directing him towards the coffee house, soon they arrived and she directed him inside, slideing into a seat opposite him, leavign the chair at her side free for Brian.

At the far end near the window the three had a good view of the water but could still talk in the busy place. He sat down next to his brothers girlfriend and rubbed his face. brian was tired. It had been a few very long days with first the crazy bitch attacking Faye and then Mia giving birth. He was running on 4 hours sleep, his shoulder was sore and Brian was just dragging his butt. But the thought of Tyler kept him going. He wanted to have everything done when the two came home. "A grande Moccha for me." he ordered and waited for the others wondering whether Daniel was the coffee black type. "Cappucino with a shot of Hazelnut?" He asked Faye remembering what she had ordered last time.

"Being overly protective isn't always a good thing." Daniel flashed Faye a smile while he parked the car in front of the café and shut off the engine. the contrast to the grittiness of some of the places he frequented in New York more than evident when he entered the small place behind the brunette. It reminding him all the more that he no longer was in his home city and new rules were in play.
He turned his attention back on his company after he had placed his order with the waitress. A simple old school black one with no sugar. He wasn't one for the fancy flavored drab that seemed to be popular these days. "So, you two know each other outside the business relationship?"

"Yea my brother knows him from way back and im dating his brother"SHe stated, her gaze wondering over to the beach.

Brian rubbed his face trying to wake himself up a little more but the dark circles under his eyes gave away that he was having a hard time to stay and awake and focussed. "Yep." Then he briefly looked at the waves. Today he didn't even itch to dive into the blue. Living in lA it was an every day possibility and not that exciting anymore. Back in Barstow he would have killed for a swim in the ocean. He focussed back on the other agent. "What brings you to LA? Did you ask for this transfer?"

Daniel leaned back in his chair, the smile washing over his face nothing but casual. "I did. One needs to broaden his horizon every now and then to keep life interesting." His voice held the same air of casualness as his smile did when he answered the question without really answering it, any real reason for his being here remaining hidden. It hadn't been his preferred choice to ask to be transferred out of his playground, but certain events had left him with his back against the wall.
Folding his arms across his chest, he couldn't help the amused glint in his eyes when he diverted the subject away from himself and back on to the blonde. "So O'Conner. Tell me, how did you get stabbed?"

Faye let out a breath as she loked over at Brian, the question was not a fun one, bringing back a lot of memories for the pair of them, she divereted her gaze, deciding to allow Brian to answer the question, she threw him a smile, deciding to turn her gaze onto thedrink in front of her.

Of course Brian noticed that Daniel didn't tell him the reason for his transfer. Broadening the horizon? He didn't buy it. The next question was an uncomfortable one. It had only been three days ago and was still a very unpleasant memory, more for Faye than him though. His eyes met hers waiting for her to say something but she didn't. "Last target was pretty crazy. Three days ago I tried to take her down before she could do somebody harm." Needless to say with little success. "She's locked up now." He turned to Faye. "Is that who you're at the FBI for?"

Faye let out a sigh at the mention of Chris, she turned her gaze back over to Brian, slowly shaking her head, obviously Brian hadnt been listening when she had been saying who she was at the FBI for.
"Nope, i dont htink there would be any need for me to testify for her to be convicted" She turned her dark gaze to Brian, after the incident she had done her reserch, had found every last single detail of what the bitch had done, she'd be given the death penality or spend the rest of her days in a maxim security prison.

Daniel rubbed a hand over his chin as he listened to Brian's explanation for the stabbing. It was almost embarrassing to hear that a trained FBI agent couldn't handle one single woman with a knife, but his expression gave none of his crude thoughts wanting to rise to the surface away. Playing nice was the key to making friends in useful places. And being on the good side of these two could, at one point, prove to be more than convenient for him.
"Sorry to hear you had to go through that. It's a crazy world out there. Don't know who you can trust nowadays." Again, the irony of his own statement didn't slip past him when he flashed the both of them a smile, the waitress finally arriving with their orders in the meantime.
"I've seen some shit in my line of duty and it makes me say I'm glad we can all still sit here and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Most people should consider themselves lucky not knowing what goes down right on their doorstep."

Faye turned her gaze away from the conversation in front of her, if it hadnt been her, and her arrivial in LA then Nate and ultimatly Chris would have never gone near Brian or his family, licking her lips she turned her attention back to the drink in front of her, taking a small sip she let out a satisfied sigh, her gaze flickign over to Daniel and then back over to Brian, wonderig what he was going to say next.

Daniel seemed understanding and sincere so Brian smiled. "Thanks." He neglected to say that he was done with taking shit for other people. Making his friends and family targets had to end. He reached for his cup and blew into the cup sending small clouds of steam in the air. "We serve and protect." He said in a low voice before he sipped on his coffee. "Any friends here, Daniel?"

"Nope. But that's the beauty of switching city's, isn't it? You get to start anew with a squeaky clean slate on more than one front." A half smirk washed over his features as Daniel leaned forward to grab his own cup. He'd be making plenty of new 'friends' here soon enough. Just not the ones to be expected for a FBI agent.
"Anyway, enough about unpleasantries such as work and, well, me for the moment. It seems to be making the lady uncomfortable." He took a sip of his black coffee before regarding the both of them again. " What does one actually do for fun around here?"
