Tag Mia, Carter, Jack
For the 5th time Brian checked his watch. It wasn't like Mia to be late, not that late. Her shift had been over for 25 minutes. Casting one last glance at his watch Brian decided to check inside the hospital to see what had held her up. He took Tyler out of his seat. By now it only took him a few seconds. he'd gotten used to the belts and buckles of the baby seat. "Let's see what your mom's doing so long." With the boy on his arm he made his way to teh station she was working in.The sterile smell made him want to turn around like every time he came here. Brian really didn't like visiting her at work.
When he asked for her another nurse informed him that Mia hadn't shown up for work. Instantly Brian's gutt dropped but he calmed himself and told himself to not always jump to the worst conclusion. instead he dialled her cell and then the home phone but only got the answering machine.
By that moment he became pretty uneasy and decided to call Jack or Faye to ask them whether they knew where Mia was and whether they could check if she was home. Jack's phone rang once, twice, three...way too many times.

Jack ran a hand through his wild hair and over his face while he pushed himself up from the couch. Had he really fallen asleep in front of the tv in broad daylight? He wasn't getting old, was he?
He quickly fumbled out the vibrating phone from his pocket before it had a chance to go to voicemail, not bothering to check the caller id. Couldn't be all that important on this time of the day anyway.
"Yeah.." He mumbled, clearing his throat from the obvious sleep in his voice.

"Jack, listen, Mia's not shown up for work and doesn't answer the phone. Do you know where she is or does Faye?" Brian had a hard time to keep the panic out of his voice. this was simpkly not like her. If she wasn't planning a huge surprise something was wrong. He listened intently to Jack breathing into the phone. "Jack?"

Jack furrowed his brow while he allowed the question to sink in to his still half sedated mind. He wasn't even all that aware of the panic in the voice on the other side of the line until his name rang a second time.
"No, as far as we know she was on duty today." He finally answered, only now fully realizing what Brian had said. If she hadn't shown up at work at all, didn't answer her phone.. Fuck, that couldn't be good. Not after what had happened to Buster.
"You don't think.." He started, but didn't finish. That thought was a little too messed up.

"Oh fuck, Jack." Brian groaned when his brother started to voice his own fear. "Do me a huge favour and drive to the Fort as quickly as you can. You can make it there much faster than I can from here. I'll meet you there. Call me on my cell." He looked at the little guy on his arm who was looking at him with baby blue eyes. His son hd no idea what was going on in his fathers mind and smiled at him. Ignoring the urge to just fall apart Brian turned around and ran down the corridor with Tyler in his arms making the baby cry instantly. While he tried to calm him down he shoved him into his baby seat, buckled him up with shaky fingers and jumped in the driver seat. the shocked kid just started howling. Brian#s nerves were already wrecked so he yelled. "Shut up, Tyler, not now, please be a good boy, quiet now." It didn't work. On his way home he called Mia's number over and over again. "Mia, it's me. What's going on, where are you? call me when you get this. I'm worried." that was an understatement. Even though he tried to remin calm pictures of Busters cut up body flashed in front of his eyes while he ran more than just one red light.

In his hurry, Jack was about to shove his phone back in his pocket until the small flashing voicemail icon on the screen caught his attention. How long and how deep had he been asleep? Not that it mattered anymore now.
Grabbing his keys, he headed toward the Evo and slid behind the wheel seconds later while he pressed for voicemail to listen to the message. It was Faye, telling him she was working late.. His eyes wandered toward the clock on his dashboard. According to the computerized voice, she had called a little past eight last night and it was afternoon now, meaning she should have been home by now.
"What the.." He muttered, ending the voicemail and dialing Faye's number instead. No answer, just like Mia. Her work number followed and the answer he received from her colleagues was none too pleasing either. She had left the office around eight last night.
"Shit.." He tossed the phone on the passenger's seat, starting the engine. The fort was his only option now and tires squealed in protest when the Evo peeled out on to the street.
Fifteen minutes later, he was stood outside the fort, nervously biting on the nail of his thumb and leaning against the side of the Evo while he waited for Brian. After having checked the house, he could only conclude it was empty. No Mia, no Faye and no sign of anything out of place as far as he could tell.
He turned his head at the familiar roar of the Skyline, already hearing Tyler wailing in the backseat even before the Nissan's engine died while he moved from his own car. Damn, the kid had some lungs on him. After a brief and semi uneasy glance toward his crying nephew, he turned his attention on his worried looking brother.
"I can't reach Faye either.." Was all he growled when Brian got out of the car. If this was Carter's doing and Brian had brought this on them one way or another..

by now Brian's nerves were completely wrecked from the tension of Tyler crying and not knowing where his wife was. He heard Jack but his attention was already on the house. "Take Tyler out okay? Did you check inside?" The cop didn't wait for an answer but ran up the stairs taking two at a time. The door flew open and reveiled...nothing. "Mia! Mia!" he yelled while he ran around the house looking in every possible room. "Where are you?" When Brian stopped for a moment to listen closely he could only heard his own heartbeat going a mile a minute. Next to him the answering machine was blinking steadily. Brian pushed play but the only message was from him. Once again he ran around the house searching for her or any clue of her whereabouts. Unfortunately everything was where it always was and the only sound was the screaming baby outside. "Fuck, fuck!" His knuckles hit the wall leaving a dent in the drywall. Brian felt like somebody had just pulled the plug from his life support. His knees were ready to buckle when it his fears seemed to proof right. With shaking fingers he grabbed the phone and dialled Dom's cell. "Dom, where's Mia? Do you know?"

Dom shifted the Charger's gears before he dug into his pocket and picked up the phone, "Slow down Buster, I don't know where my sister is. Ain't she supposed to be at work or with you?"
Dom swallowed down the panic that had set in since Brian's call, he felt kind of guilty from spending the night with Diablo instead of going back to the Fort to crash and burn.
"Where are you right now?" he didn't like the tone in Brian's voice and he could hear his nephew screaming in the background.

While he was rushing to the front door to grab his son from Jack he tightly pressed the phone to his ear. "At the Fort. She's not here and didn't show up for work today. No message, no sign, nothing." He reached out for the baby whose head had turned red and had tears streaming down his cheek. With the phone between his ear and shoulder and Tyler on his arm he tried not to loose it completely. His eyes darted around for anything suspicious in the neighborhood. "I'll call you when I know more." He hung up and stared at Jack worry written all over his face. "No answer from Faye either? That doesn't make sense." The little ones sobs reflected what he felt like. He just wanted Mia there and safe. But Brian wasn't ready to beleive the worst yet. there hd to be an explanation.

Jack's jaws tensed as he watched Brian enter the fort without even taken any note of his words. Had he just spoken chinese? Cursing under his breath, he turned around toward the Skyline and his still crying nephew in the backseat. Babies and him weren't exactly a golden combination, but at the moment he had no other choice. He couldn't just leave the kid in his own misery.
Making soothing noises in the hopes of lulling his nephew, he yanked at the buckles on the straps and resisted every curse that wanted to spill from his mouth. Where these things child proof or fucking grown up proof? After a few more attempts, he finally managed to free the kid from the seat and out of the car.
With the baby on his arm, his face scrunched up at the impending headache, he waited impatiently for his brother to come back out. The fact that Faye hadn't been home nor answered her phone didn't sit well with him and standing here like an idiot was more than just a waste of time.
"Thank you captain obvious." He grumbled, relieved when Brian finally took his now exhausted and almost sleeping nephew from his arms. "She left me a voicemail saying she'd be working late and according to her colleague, she left the office at eight last night. She hasn't come home or called since, doesn't answer her phone.." He sounded more and more distressed as his own words hit him. If something had happened to her he would do more than tear whoever responsible a new one..

The words coming out of Jack's mouth sounded aweful. Judging by Jack's reaction he hadn't fully grasped what that could mean though. Or mybe he just wasn't as paranoid as his older brother. "Fuck." Brian ran one hands through his hair and rested his hand on top of his head for a moment. "I can't beleive this...you didn't even realize that she's not home until this afternoon?" Shaking his head he realized it didn't make sense to blame jack. For a moment he stood there hepless. "What now? File a report..." From his own experience he knew it never lead anywhere unless the person showed up face down in the ocean.

Jack raised his eyebrows at the accusation, but for once refrained from shooting a remark back at his brother. Picking a fight now wouldn't get him anywhere other than maybe upsetting his nephew a second time. Not something he'd be looking forward to any time soon.
"File a report?" He snorted at the thought. Not once had the pigs in blue been helpful, why would that chance now? "They'd have to be missing for at least 24 hours before they even think about moving their asses anyway.."
Running a hand through his hair, his eyes moved from his brother toward the Evo while he pulled the keys from his pocket. "Fuck this, I'm going to her office. See if her car is still there or maybe something else. Don't they have CCTV on buildings like that nowadays?" He rambled while he already turned to head to his car.

"Good thinking, Jack. there would be some sort of surveilance on the building." He wondered whether the hospital had that, too, but he didn't even know if Mia ever arrived there. Suddenly he had an idea. Flipping open his phone he called a former partner at the FBI. "Hi. It's Brian. I urgently need a favour from you. my wife's missing. This might have something to do with the case I'm working on but I don#t want to go to my partner with this. I'll explain it to you later. Can you trace this cell phone? 555-790432. Call me if you find anything?" Brian knew the trace would only work as long as the phone wasn#t shut off. His knuckles turned white because he had such a strong grip on his own phone. "I'll come with you. You drive." He told Jack. "Hang on." 2 minutes later he came back from inside the house with his 9 mm in his hand and shoved it in the holster he had also brought.

Impatient as he was growing, Jack had long since started the engine when Brian came back out of the house, but when his eyes landed on his nephew and the gun he was tempted to turn the key back. Were they gunning for most irresponsible adults with a kid or what? He sure as hell wasn't planning on bringing a baby along to the law firm. With their luck, it could be the fastest ticket for his brother to get child support on his ass.
"You're not bringing him, are you? I don't even have a car seat, man."

That little detail had escaped Brian's attention. "Go by Leon's place and drop Tyler off. Leon will want to know about this as well or do you know anybody else we could leave him with...where he's safe? I'm not leaving him with just any babysitter. He needs to be safe..." He didn't want to add what exactly he needed to be safe from. Quickly he unbuckled the babyseat from his own car and fastened Tyler in the back of the EVO. "You got a precious load. Drive safely but do it fast!"
Soon they arrived at leon's crib who was curious to find out why on earth he had to jump out of the shower to baby sit.
NOTE: LEON WILL BE EDITED IN AS JOKER HAS A PLAN FOR THE OFFICE FOR NOW...
With Jack's wreckless style of driving they arrived only 18 minutes later at the lw firm, Faye worked for. Brian scanned the building for cameras as they entered it and saw several. They asked to speak to the securit guard in charge and explained the situation while Brian flashed his badge, which usually didn't fail to open up some doors.

Two guards were speaking to a police officer when Brian and Jack entered. They themselves were reviewing a security video of the might before, the scene they walked in on was right as Faye was leaving the front door. As she was nearing the edge of view the camera became distorted and she was gone. They rewound it to play again as another t.v was used to play scenes from later in the night. It showed a man masked with a balaclava enter, shoot a tazer into one guard then engage another in close combat disarming and dropping him both men finished within seconds. As he passed the camera that should have identified him the camera did the same thing the one Faye has appeared on did. Each scene there after had similar happenings fizzing out as a shadowy figure moved passed them.

Brian didn't blink once while he watched the screens carefully. Obviously the person, guy by his physique, that had attacked the guards had also done something to Faye. He wouldn't let his mind go to the worst possible scenario but he said. "I'm going to search the parking lot outside to see whether there are any signs of a fight." With a nod at the guards he asked. "Why would somebody break in here, was anything taken? Any files maybe? Whoever that guy is...he's a professional, really quick, knew what he was doing."

The cop who by his puzzled look must have been a rookie. "There wasn't anything taken but a mini tape left for someone named Jack. We havn't found a player for it yet my partner is outside calling up dispatch." He nodded to the small tape next to the television. "Both guards were fine amazingly too." He shook his head. "Do you know why someone would come in like this to leave a tape?"

Brian froze when he heard that nothing was taken but something left instead: A tape. Holy shit. It was for Jack. Instead of reaching for it he waited until Jack made a move and briefly shook his head. "No idea."

Jack frowned deeper and deeper while he watched the screens. He had hoped to find something of a clue here, but this sure as hell wasn't it. This was just.. bullshit. A fucking nightmare.
"That would be me.." He finally spoke without much of a hint of surprise when his name fell, briefly staring at the small tape before grabbing it. If it was meant for him, he was going to take it. Evidence or not, waiting for all the red tape to clear would only drive him insane.
"So you're telling me this is all you got? Fuzzy videos and a mystery tape..?"
