Walter rolled out of bed in his new flat, he rolled to the side of his bed and swung his feet over the side. The double stacked mattresses were supported only by the floor because he hadn't bothered to buy any new furniture yet. He began his morning ruetine of wake up calisthenics and other moderate exercises. There wasn't a doubt in his mind his body was still hurt so he took it easy and enjoyed the warm shower before catching th bus to brian's garage. He was a bit early and sat on the curb, the sun was cresting the sky and he tilted his cowboy hat back, a smile crept over his scarred face and he couldn't help but laugh silently at the turn in his life.
With a pop of his neck he adjusted his leather jacket and shifted in his worn in bates boots. It was going to be a beautiful morning he didn't care how much of a workload he had today he was going to make up for the shit he had put everyone through. A hard days work was rewarding to him, anxious he went to the window and looked into the garage at different cars and pieces. A thought crept into his mind, he owed Brian a lot and suddenly knew how to get him back.

With his hsoulder press against a sweaty overweight guy Brian simply couldn't understand why some people enjoyed taking the bus. It was terribly busy in the morning, stopped every two minutes and didn't even have any available seats left. So Brian hung on to the pole and tried not to get pressed any further against his damp neighbour. Truly thankful he got off the bus at the corner that was only a block away from his garage. The morning was hazy and hot making his old T-shirt cling to his back. The cargo shorts barely fit around his waist anymore thanks to a lack of exercise. At least he had opted to leave the crutches at home today, so all that was proof of the former FBI life was a knee brace and a limp now.
A smile spread on his face when he spotted Jokers in front of the garage in the warm morning sun. "Early bird catches the ...worm?" Brian greeted him.

Walter smiled broadly and elbowed his employer playfully, "Looks like you've picked a few too many worms up bruddah man." He laughed and looked across the lot, "You know you can work out with me a bit, get your heartbeat up a ways. Don't need to work on leg stuff." He offered, he needed a training partner again the past three months of not exercisizing had formed a bit of flab on himself too and he sneered mentally at the image of himself turning into a walking gut. "Mull it over today and get back to me about it before we close up shop, what we got on tap today I can get hold of supplies if we need any and around noon I need to get my car out of storage. Well one of the final few I have." He grimaced remembering his house got blown to high he'll and most his projects with it.

"Thanks a lot , bro." He petted Joker on his belly. "Same back to you..." he laughed. At least with Joker he knew that the man knew what it felt like going from active to sitting on your ass and being injured. "I'll think about it." The idea was tempting but Brian was still in feeling-sorry-for yourself-mode even though Tiffini and Jack had brought him out of his routine briefly. "Sounds good. Let's get started." he replied, unlocked the door and pushed it open. A gust of cool, stale air hit him as he stepped inside the dark garage.

Walter followed his new boss into the garage and flipped the lights on, "So what's first boss man? You do custom work or repairs around here. Never really got down here when I was alive, and left in such a hurry last night I forgot to ask..." He looked around the garage eyeing the equipment and crossed his arms.

Brian flicked on all the lights and opened the shutters making a few nice gadgets and parts sparkle in the sunlight. "We do a bit of both. Mostly repairs right now but I'd like to get more into modifications." He grabbed a folder from the desk and looked inside to see if any new jobs had come in. "Unfortunately things are pretty slow because I had to close down for a while. My brother used to work here but he's also dissapeared from the face of the earth so I really appreciate your help."
He motioned for one of the three cars, an older Dodge Ram. "That's the project of the day. The owner wants to squeeze a few more HP out her."
For a moment he watched Walter while he crossed his arms in front of his chest. The guy always seemed so calm and cool. Even in the worst situation. "I wanted to say sorry....you know, for not seeing it through to the end with you."

"Don't worry, they wanted to kill me. My snipers did me a solid, took the none lethal shots...they would have had to kill us both if you came." He walked towards the ram and looked it over then looked back at Brian. "Don't ever apologize to me again Brian, because of me seven peoples lives got fucked up including yours and Ree's. They think I'm dead and until I figure out who the big bad is I'm going to let them continue to think that. I'm sorry that all of you guys got dragged into that shit and even if it kills me I will bring down everyone that was behind it." Every hint of humor was gone, it was replaced by an obvious pain. "In a warzone we have a split second to make a decision while the higher-ups have months to criticize it. They think I'm dead, you guys army under survalence any more so they have no reason to come after you any more..." He took a breath and closed his eyes then smiled, "And I still think I got the worse of it, look at me I look like death onced over, onced over." He motioned at his face and busted out laughing.

Brian remained standing with his arms crossed over his chest while he listened to Walter. The man clearly played in his own league-somewhere far above Brian and right now the ex-fed was glad that he never had gotten to that kind of level...who knew whether Mia and Tyler would still be alive.
At Jokers words of revenge his own mood darkened. "I though about nothing but to get this bastard back the whole time I was lied up. I was so angry and wanted revenge more than anything but you know what? I'm just grateful my family is still around and I'm back on two feet so...I hate to say it but I think I'll keep a low profile."
He wrinkled his brow. "So you're saying your own men shot you?"

"They saved me, took two non lethal shots. These guys are surgical with guns. Rembrant with a rifle." He smiled, "Don't worry about vengeance, he will get his in the end. People like us...him...always get just deserts. So let's stop talon death and mayhem, you're alive I'm, somewhere in the middle and we need to get this beast up and running like a dodge should." He walked over to the cab and popped the hood before walking over to the power tools. "Let's pull the engine up and see what we can do with the block and go from there, did he have any limits on cost?"

With a smirk Brian shook his head and followed Walter. "You amaze me. Non-lethal shot, huh? So it's all good..." Once again he shook his head. Walter was still walking a little slower and seemed to carry himself slightly awkward but other than that you wouldn't be able to tell. "So you caught a COUPLE of bulletts and .." He shrugged "...I'm still trying to get over ONE...are you Wolverine? Be honest , man! What did the government do to you??" He nudged the man who had become a friend over the past months. "No limit- they guys got deep pockets. He just needs it back by the end of the week...let's see what we can do." He pulled his tools closer and popped the hood.

(Next event based on a true story look up Lone Survivor) "The human body is capable of almost anything, the mind is what needs to be trained. We had a seal team go into the middle east, one man got half his head blow away and lost motor function in his right hand. When they finally found his body yards away from where they thought he was killed he was surrounded by dead enemies. He had switched to using his pistol and unloaded another forty rounds from his pistol with his off hand before they finally killed him. Me being shot up as bad as I have been I'm lucky, there are many more brave men that have been gunned down by worse and survived through more. Like I said...I'm lucky is all." His voice was cold as if he regretted it all. "Lots of good men lost their lives on that mission, nineteen to be exact. Fourteen SEALs and five SOAR members, but it shows the strength of good and well trained men." He looked at Brian, "Your knee will heal when you want it to, push it and block out the pain, your pain is your cage. Once you figure out how to block it out you can do anything. I use the pain as a motivator because eventually the pain will stop." He took a look at the engine and began to dismantle the brackets and wires.

After Walts story Brian felt ridiculous about moaning about his sore knee, it was nothing compared to loosing your life in combat. Nevertheless he gave the other guy a mock expression. "Well there you go, knee, you heard that? I want you to heal. Now!" He sneered, turned around and grabbed a creeper and placed it on the floor before he lowered himself down onto it with his back. "Knock yourself out up there, Walter...you know sometimes you're just a little too..." 'weird is what he meant "positive." Then he dissapeared underneath the car with a lamp in his hand. He held it up and searched why the bottom was slightly wet. He dipped his finger in the fluid. "Oil."

As the day wore on the men stripped, modded, and rebuilt what they could and ordered what they needed. Walter filed the last order manifest and wipes his arm over his face smearing the grease. "You hitting the streets tonight?" He asked Brian as he began to walk around the shop organizing the tools again and setting the spare pieces off to the side. He was itching to get his project on the road and tonight he was going to break it in.

Brian wiped his dirty hands on a rag before he took a good long look at what they had achieved today. His tired frown changed into a somewhat content expression. While he ran his hand along the hood he said. "Good job, bro. We've got quite a few things done today." He cracked his neck and stood up straight before he went to the small fridge in the back. A few beers and cans were stored there. Holding one up he asked. "Want one?"
Already gulping down some of the cool liquid he shrugged. "Probably not. I'm tired...and I don't have a car." That was actually the worst part. "I'm not going to become the joke of the neighborhood by showing up in the Cadillac."

"Grab a ride with your Bro," He raised his hands up motioning 'no' when the beer was offered. "You need to see this beast in action." He urged his friend a bit, Brian was in a slump and needed an outlet, the streets were the best place for it.

Brian ran his dirty hand over his head and scratched it. "Yeah, I don't know, man. I just don't feel like standing on the sidelines." At least he hadn't brought up working out again.
He took another sip and then nodded. "So you have a new car, huh? Where do you get all that cash?" With what joker had dumped behind his desk he could easily buy three new cars but he had a feeling that the money wasn't exactly legal.

"During the veitnam war several million dollars in unbacked US dollars went missing and the CIA had found it recently and lost it almos immediatly after the NSA got hold of the info. Then the a man stole the money and his pilot got shot down, I found the wreckage. But that's neither here nor there, I've spent a lot of time on this car. Years actually." He shrugged and checked his watch, "I can always get money since technically all money in the world now is just numbers in cyberspace..." He didn't add the fact that his money was running out. He had another plan already formed after the races tonight he was gig to inact a bit of revenge. "Just remember the less I tell you the less you need to lie about bro. Also, I have a couple project cars comming in soon."

"Do you now?" Brian looked very interested all of a sudden. "Like what?" Who knew, maybe he could buy one cheaply and fix it up for himself. "Goood, I wish I had some spare cash but all my money has been eaten up by hospital bills and diapers." Brian didn't mind spending his last penny on Tyler but he wasn't happy about the rest of it.

"Don't worry about em yet, just worry about getting food for you and the family. I'll keep the cash flow up for the garage." He didn't add the fact that Brian was about to have a quarter million dollars dripped in his lap by the end of work tomorrow. He knew how to finish off the big bad and make him pay. "And I can help with the bills, I got some deep pockets." He said as he hung the final wrench up. It was going to be a productive night with or without the races.

"Yeah." Brian busied himself cleaning up the mess he had left on the floor trying to put everything back in its original place. He was terrible at keeping things in order. "I don't know, man. I don't like being dependent on handouts." He placed a few screw-wrenches in a box and closed the lid. "What kind of car, now you've got me interested, c'mon, give it up." The look on his face was that of a school boy who's discovered how to cheat in exams and get away with it.
