Angel smiled at Brian, "Yeah I've got more on my back, planning on getting one on my hip, just haven't had the time yet," she glanced at the back brake and nodded, "So that's what it looks like," she nodded, "Most of the time when mine got stuck on my old eclipse I just shook, popped and dropped the e-brake."
She made a face and slipped her fingers into the wheel rim around where the brake was she could feel a cord there. Stepping around the car to the other side she repeated the movement and nodded, "So that cord on the one side would need to get replaced then? Sorry I'm not the best with brake systems, most of the time I avoid brake overhauls like the plague. But no better time to learn then the present."

"No problem." Brian appreciated her honesty. "Yeah, can you replace it?"
He then stepped back a bit and crossed his arms over his chest. "My brothers got some tattoos. I've never really gotten into that. Who knows. maybe one day." Over the years Brian had toyed with the idea every now and then but never really found a design worth keeping forever.

"I can do my best, you'll probably want to check it afterwards just to make sure everything is hunky dorry," Angel said nodding.
Angel glanced Brian over quickly, "Tats wouldn't look bad on you to be honest. You just have to find the right one, to be honest that takes longer then getting them done," she said as she walked back over to the civic and grabbed a couple of tools before dropping the rest back where they came from, "Personally I design all of my tats before I get them done, I know what works on me and each one of them mean something else. Tat's are like car paint that you can't remove, people get different things painted on their cars because it means something to them."
Angel rolled her shoulders back as she popped the right back wheel off the Ford, "The first car I fixed up and drove was nicknamed Reaper. I took that car to ever trick race and drift race where I used to live and killed the competition. So to go with that nickname I designed a grim reaper paint, complete with hellish beasts racing down the sides. Obviously I don't have Reaper any more, but hey cars you drive into the ground don't last as long as you like."
She glanced at Brian as she worked, "Sorry I like talking..."

"That's okay, that way I can get to know you better and hey...better than what's on the radio." He motioned for a small radio in the corner tuned in to the local old school rock station. "The only thing I would really permanently want on my skin is my sons name." The words tasted sour. So far he would have included Mia but lately he wasn't so sure whether she wanted to be included any more.
He looked at what she was doing and nodded. "Just keep doing what you're doing..." He turned around and hobbled back to his own project: Getting the bumper back in shape and painted. He picked it up ands went out back.

Angel snorted, commercials were the reason her old garage had been outfitted with a stereo system and a five disk changer. Then again her garage played rock and metal every day of the week, it brought the business that she needed to keep her on a steady income, she could afford to put the stereo system in because of those guys.
She put her arms up and leaned against the lift for a moment pushing back regret for selling the place to the first taker. Shaking her head, long ponytails flicking slightly against her back Angel went back to work on the brake system. She glanced at the cord for a long few moments before recalling how to replace break cords without hurting herself in the process.
Memory working once more Angel slipped back into garage mode and started on the replacement, humming the tune of Liberate from Disturbed.

Two hours later Brian pulled the mask of his face and looked at the result of his labor. He had simply tossed the old bumper and spray painted a new one in the matching metallic color. He made his way back to the car but his stomach decided that he was too hungry to keep working before lunch. He turned down the stereo and shouted over to his new colleague. "I'm going to go down the road and grab some lunch...wanna come?"

Angel glanced under the lift and grinned, "Best thing I've heard all day," she said grabbing a rag to wipe her hands off.
She smiled at Brian as she wiped the grease off her hands, "So where is this place down the road?" Angel asked looking at him curiously, "Not really familiar with this side of town yet."
Angel tossed the rag on top of another one that she had seen on top of a workbench. The other guy that was supposed to be working here as well hadn't shown yet, not that it was her problem, she was used to working alone these days. Glancing down at her hands she decided that having the black residue on her hands was a much better look on her then the layers of thick makeup she endured every shoot.

After quickly washing his hands Brian grabbed his keys and wallett and then walked to the door. "It's a small Chinese take away. They have a few plastic chairs and tables but awesome stir fry for 4 bucks." He waited for the woman to follow him. "It's two blocks down." The sun was high in the sky and immediately reminded him why he would much rather be at the beach right now than in the garage.
Side by side with Diablo he walked down the street. It could actually be called walking now. 10 minutes later they sat down at one of the plastic tables and ordered their lunch. "Hey Tess, beef and beens for me...and a root beer. What about you?" Blue eyes searched her face while he was guessing what she would order.

Angel had soaked up the heat of the sun skin blushing red slightly, her eyes protected under her chopper sunglasses.
She slipped into the plastic chair and smiled at the waitress, "Moo Goo Gai Pan if you have it and ice tea," she was a creature of habit when it came to Chinese food.
Glancing at Brian as the waitress nodded and walked away she made a face at him, "You guess right?"

Wrinkling his brow he didn't understand what she meant. Then it hit him. He smiled. "Not even close. I have no idea what you just ordered...monkeybrain on ice?" He let his gaze wander around the place. There were workers, Chinese people, some older women. "So what do you do when you don't cover yourself in grease?"

Angel laughed softly, "I dunno about them monkey brains, but my food is chicken and veggies coated in, well not actually sure what they call it, but it's like gravy. It's good I swear," she said shrugging knowing that she wouldn't eat the same thing over and over again if it wasn't good.
Angel should have known that question was coming a mile away as her soft laugh turned into an awkward sigh, "Um... well... I should have known you would have asked that question," she said licking her lips as she looked down at the plastic table top, "... I get paraded around in front of cameras laden down in a less then healthy coat of makeup." she said pretty sure he would come to the conclusion of model from that.

"Okay." He looked up and studied her features. "Doesn't sound like you enjoy it."
An old Chinese man served them their drinks. Brian thanked him and sipped on his root beer. It was awefully sweet. "I've recently met somebody else in the showbizz. She's an actress. I guess this is LA."

"It's not that I don't enjoy it... I mean my manager gets me all the shoots he can with Bikes and Cars, but it's not my dream job. I'd much rather be in a garage working on cars, bikes, and building engines, then posing half naked for a camera," Angel said shrugging, "That and the fact that the models who dreamed of being a model are always on my case with my tats, my eating habits, my figure, everything. If I hadn't been Diablo for half my life, I wouldn't be able to take that world. I suffer through it because it pays my bills."
Angel took a sip of the ice tea and sighed softly, "Yeah LA basically breeds famous people and street rats," she said without shame gesturing to herself.

For a moment Brian wondered whether she did fashion shots or what. Soon the food arrived though and he busied himself with eating. He watched people walking by outside while he chewed. His mind wandered to Mia and what she was doing. Still he didn't understand why she had blown her top as she did and how he could change the way she felt about him other than trying to get the garage going again and not sitting on the couch at home any more. The silence between him and Angel felt a little weird when he noticed it.

Angel finally broke down and asked the question on her mind, "What's eating you? Sorry if it's too intrusive but you look like you need someone to talk to," she said as she picked at her food.
The silence had been bothering her, it wasn't a comfortable silence between people. It was one of those, 'I don't know enough about you to make this silence any less awkward then a first date' silences. Sure she had done some shoots that were less then desired, but without knowing what he was thinking about, Angel was left to worry if he was silently judging her decisions.

"Is it that obvious?" He frowned. "Sorry about that. I'll try to be better company." He didn't want to tell her about the argument with his wife and his own mistakes. That was his business to sort out. Maybe if she stayed on and the problems persisted, which he really hoped they wouldn't and he was about to do everything he could for that like going back in for surgery to speed up the healing even though he dreaded every second of it. "What are you doing next Thursday?"

Angel looked at him for a moment owlishly before grinning as she looked back down at her food, "Thursday... Nothing. I don't have another shoot until my manager finds another one I'll like, so other then working for you, I'm going to be hiding in my apartment working on the engine that is currently hiding out in living room. Why?" she asked glancing up at him.
She could tell that there was something bothering him that he didn't want to talk about and she wasn't going to pry into his life. Angel mentally shook the idea of partying out of her head, for the sheer fact she hated going out alone without a good reason.

"I might need a chauffeur." He replied secretively. Until he'd make up his mind whether he was actually going through with it he wouldn't tell anybody.
All the food on his plate was gone and so was hers. "You eat like a man!" He laughed. "I mean that in a good way, no picking at the food and calory counting, great." When the man brought them the bill Brian handed him some cash and nodded to Angel. "You're my guest. Treat for new employees. Let's go." On his way out he thought. 'Smooth change of subject.'

Angel was laughing on the way out as she flicked the reflective sunglasses back down over her eyes, "Smooth transition there Brian, very smooth. Thank you for lunch, I appreciate it. As for needing a chauffeur, not a problem just lemme know and no complaining about my driving," she warned smiling.
She liked Brian, he seemed like a nice guy, a bit troubled but he always seemed to try and put on a good face. If the garage turned into a permanent job, she knew she wouldn't have any trouble getting along with her boss. Angel just hoped that the others that worked there would be the same way.

While they walked back a little slower than before Brian added. "I'll let you know tomorrow, okay?"
Then he walked the rest of the way in silence. Back at the garage they kept working on their projects for several hours until Brian had enough. It was 6.30pm and he thought it was time to go home even though he didn't look forward to it. Maybe he'd do a detour. "I think we're done for today. Come and collect your pay." He waved a few bills in front of her face. "Since you're not really employed here yet, I'll just give it to you cash."
