"Yeah." He assured her. Right now he felt like the most irresponsible person on the planet though. What father went out drinking, stole a car and raced it across town? The thought made him feel aweful and it wasn't the fact that Mia was having another baby but his own behavior that didn't seem right. He felt like he didn't deserve her kiss but a slap in the face. So he drew back slightly and looked at her. "Why don't I act like a father? Why am I so irresponsible? I shouldn't have done what I did last night and I really should not do what we're about to do."
Right now he wanted to run and hide but Mia would think it's because of her so he stayed. Uneasily he shifted and stated. "I'll be back in a minute." He needed a moment to clear his mind, and what better opportunity than a bathroom break. Instead of peeing he caught his reflection in the mirror, tired, not shaved and guilty.

Mia furrowed her brow ever so slightly at his words, dark eyes gleaming, licking her lips she sighed, it was a question she couldn’t answer, something she couldn’t tell him, only he could answer the question. Drawing her lower lip between her teeth she sighed. She still didn’t believe he was okay with the whole pregnancy, and just didn’t want to tell her.
It was made even worse when he all but rain out of the kitchen. Sighing she stood with her hip resting against the counter, dark eyes gleaming with unshed tears. The timing was terrible, she got that, but she thought he would have been happy for her, for them, but yet he didn’t seem to be.
After another moment she shifted and headed towards the bathroom, knocking on the door before pushing it open, she found him in front of the sink. Dark eyes locked on his clear ones, and she smiled tightly at him.

In the mirror Brian saw his wife looking at him. She was trying to smile but it looked forced and it was easy to understand why. Either she was upset because of last night or what was more likely because of the new pregnancy. How could he help her though. He needed to explain himself a little more. So he pulled the collar of the shirt down and tried to look under the bloody patch on his shoulder. "I got shot last night. I'm sorry, Mia." The hole in his skin didn't look appetizing but not so bad so he turned around and his attention on her. "Hon, please beleive me when I say I'm happy we're going to have another baby. Right now I just have a really bad conscience and am totally hung over and sore. It's going to look totally different tomorrow. Okay?" Brian was sure of his own words but didn't know whether Mia would beleive him.

Mia sighed as her gaze wondered down to his shoulder, normally she would have assessed it but she just didn’t have it in her, licking her lips she furrowed her brow, licking her lips she gave him a tight smile, slowly nodding her head. “Okay I have work, you should go sleep and im gonna go to work” With still furrowed brow she turned away from him, and headed back towards their bedroom where she started her routine of getting ready.

Her reaction was really strange. Brian was hoping for some understanding. Some TLC but she just turned away and said she needed to work. Obviously she was upset. Really upset. For a moment he stared in the mirror, then splashed some water in his face, quickly grabbed an aspiring from the kitchen and then headed upstairs where he found her putting her hair up. She was already in her outfit. Brian walked up behind her and reached his hands around her waist, then kissed her neck. When she let go of the hair he caught it and attempted to put it in a bun while he whispered. "I love you."

His movements were soft, almost tender and with a sigh she dropped her hair, only to laugh at his horrible attempt to tie up her hair, licking her lips she tugged her hair from his hands and allowed it to dropped down one side of her shoulders. Her dark eyes locked on his face, and she let out a tired sigh, her hands lifted to rest against his hands. “I love you to Brian”
A sigh fell from her lips at his words, her head rolling backwards to rest against his shoulder, sighing she pulled his hands tighter around her and dark eyes sparkled, “You should rest” She muttered softly, hoping when he had he would better deal with the news.

"That sounds like a good idea." He kissed the side of her head but kept playing with her hair. "Can we talk when you get back from work? Where's Tyler?" He threw a quick glance through the slightly ajar door into the baby room but he wasn't there. "I can go and pick him up and then come and pick you up from work if you want me to?" He suggested before he turned around and took his dirty clothes off and went looking for some clean boxers. Tired he sat down on the bed. "I'll better myself! Promise." He held up his hand like a boy scout.

Mia licked her lips, “He’s with the sitter” She stated softly, fingers brushing through long locks of dark hair, licking her lips she let out a breath and walked towards him, slowly dropping herself down to her knees in front of him, her fingers slide over his cheek and she smiled, “We’ll talk, don’t worry” She whispered softly.
She stood from the floor and placed a kiss to the top of his head before stepping away from him, “I finish at 8” She muttered with a breath falling from her lips.

"Alright. I'll be there." He smiled at her and briefly took her hand before he laid down in the bed and winced. Quietly he watched her walk away. He could still see her large belly in front of his inner eye. Soon it would form again and hopefully their future child would be as cute at Tyler. Brian closed his eyes and tried to find a comfortable position. So he turned onto his side and pushed a pillow in his back. Quickly he drifted off to sleep for 6 hours straight. The first thing he thought about when he woke up were Mia's words. A slight smile spread on his face. The watch on his wrist told him it was 6.45 pm so he had to get up even though he didn't want to. The shower felt refreshing but burnt his fresh wound and Brian had a hard time to tape a bandage onto his back so he ended up wrapping it, which was almost as difficult. Tired he went downstairs, grabbed an apple and a can of coke and then drove to the baby sitter where he picked up Tyler. Seeing him made his heart melt and suddenly he knew exactly what he wanted. He enclosed the small kid in his arms, kissed him and walked to the car.
Half an hour later he made his way into the hospital with Tyler in a pram to find Mia.

Work was terrible, and not just because it was busy, more then usual and the cases were harder then usual. Many patients that had walked through her doors had been children, one of which had been in a car accident with a drunk driver. Another had been a father involved in a pile up, she never liked telling families their loves ones weren’t coming home, and it was only worse when said loved one had her two children with her. No her day sucked from the moment she stepped through the door, because she had told her husband they were expecting another child, and unlike the response she had got before with Tyler she had nothing, not really, even when he had told her he was happy she couldn’t quite believe it.
Sighing she ran a hand through locks of hair that refused to stay in her bun. She was tired, bone weary and mentally exhausted. She didn’t even bother changing out of her uniform as she stepped out of the changing area. Her steps carried her slowly around the corner where she found her family, Brian and Tyler, with a smile and unshed and unseen tears in her eyes she moved towards slowly.
“You look better” She muttered softly, wrapping one arm around his neck and pressing a kiss to his lip. Seconds later she dropped down enough to run a hand through her sons hair and pace a kiss to his head.

"You don't." Brian replied dryly before he kissed her back. "Are you feeling bad or hard day at the office?" He looked around. Today the place was pretty busy. Brian would have asked her to briefly check him over just to make sure everything was fine but Mia looked so awefull and tired that he instead said. "I have a surprise for you." He turned the pram around and waited for her to walk with them. "Would you like to sit in the stroller?"

Mia sighed resting herself against him, “Both, I forgot how much the first stage sucks” She muttered, licking her lips she furrowed her brow at him, dark eyes sparkling, her brow rose ever so slightly as she tried to figure him out, but there was nothing, he wasn’t telling her anything, sighing she let out a breath. “Hmm” She muttered before shaking her head and slowly following him, her heart hammered beneath her chest, wondering what the hell Brian was ‘surprising’ her with.

Brian walked her to the car and opened the door where a big bunch of flowers was waiting for her in her seat. He grabbed Tyler and belted him into his cars seat before he folded up the stroller and placed it in the trunk of his new skyline. It barely fit in there. Even though every move made him want to scream Brian would not let it show or spoil their evening. He sat in the driver seat and winked at her. "Remember the small seafood shack on the cliff...I'd say today would be a good day to go there again."

Mia’s brow furrowed the flowers were amazing, beautiful in fact and she lifted it from the seat and inhaled the scent, licking her lips she watched Brian, he must have been in agony and yet he was still moving about their son and his stroller. Titling her head she slid into the seat, her head rolling so she could look at her husband, what the hell had gotten into him. Heaving in a breath she rose her other brow, “The shack, tonight, im hardly dressed for it” SHe muttered, but she couldn’t deny it did sound fun.

"I don't care. You're the most beautiful woman I know- you could wear a sack of potatoes if you wanted to." He licked his lips as if his words tasted sweet. "But if you're not up for it we can just go home." He started the car. "Where to, pretty lady?"

Brian had sure changed since that morning, licking her lips she looked over at him, “Okay to the cliffs” She stated softly, with a smile her dark eyes sparkled as she looked at him, god she loved him, with a smile her hand moved to rest against his knee, dark eyes sparkling “I love you” She stated softly.

The drive through the late evening traffic was pretty stressful and not half as much fun as it could have been without last nights experience. Brian caught himself checking the rear view mirror one too many times. He shot a side look at Mia. "Bad day?" He sighed. "Why don't you ask for a transfer to a different, less stressful ward?" Brian was sitting in the slow lane of the highway most of the drive up the coast except for a few times when he tried to get past a truck. Tyler decided that he had enough of driving around and was getting hungry.

Mia sighed, bad day just didn’t cut her day, terrible, horrid, shitty, she could think of a hell of a lot worse words to think of then bad. Licking her lips she turned her gaze towards Brian, and shook her head, “Bri im ER trained I love my job, there not always this bad” She muttered softly.
Traffic all but came to a stand still, and her hand reached across to rest against his thigh, squeezing softly, she could see him getting agitated with the traffic and Tyler was beginning to agree with his father. “You want me to take a look at your arm later?” She questioned softly, wondering why he hadn’t asked before now.
In fact she was starting to wonder a hell of a lot of things, why had Brian suddenly changed his attitude, he had shocked and surprised her something he hadn’t done in a while.

Over Tylers protests and the honking car next to him Brian got a little stressed and grabbed the wheel so tight that his knuckles turned white. A few years ago he would have simply gone into the emergency lane and then off the highway. No he had to sit and wait for the idiots in front of him to get a move on. Sighing he looked at Mia. "I don't know how you do it. I couldn't do your job but I know you love it." He listened to her and let his hands slip off the wheel. "Sure, that would be good. I just didn't want to bother you with it after such an awefull day at the hospital." Brian turned around and looked at Tyler who was now trying to pull his seat belt off. Finally traffic was starting to roll again and they got closer to the restaurant.

Mia watched Brian obviously he still wasn’t over his nights activities he seemed a hell of a lot more stressed tehn she had seen him in a while, smiling her hand squeezed his leg, “Can you wait till we get home?” She questioned softly as they finally began to move once more. She smiled at him, “Its easy when it’s a good day, days like today though I ask myself the same question”
Finally they were moving again and before she knew it they were at the restuarnat, with a breath she turned her gaze towards Brian, “Whats all this about?” She questioned with a raised brow, it had been bugging her why Brian had suddenly switched his moods around and now she was asking.
