Instead of going home after Dom's hearing Brian drove Letty and Mia to her house. He killed the engine and got out. There was a lot to talk about. It might as well be at Doms home. He stepped up to the front door and waited for Mia and Letty.

Letty wasn't too content that Brian brought them to the Toretto house. She loved that house, it was more than just a house. It was home, and when she lied cold and lonely in Braga's warehouse she used to dream of this place. The walls and corners of this house held alot of pleasant memories and it was too tempting to sink into them right now. But Letty knew better.
"I'm still going back to your house tonight." Letty said to Brian apathetically and passed him, walking into the house. Her tone was hostile and annoyed and Brian didn't deserve it, and she knew it but yet - couldn't help but feel frustrated and annoyed. One the one hand...Brian promised, he said they have a deal for Dom. On the other hand - it wasn't his fault, his boss screwed him. Letty let out a sigh of frustration and took in all the inner features that surrounded her. Almost nothing had changed, she assumed Dom removed a few pieces furniture and maybe changed a few things...but the basic form was the good old one. She smiled to herself and let the memories take their toll.

Brian followed Letty inside, took a very quick look around and then headed straight for the kitchen. The fridge had changed. Instead of holding a whole battery of Coronas it now contained, vegetables, cheese, butter and milk. A little annoyed with the array of healthy food he closed it again and went to find Letty in the living room. She was sitting on the floor where she always used to play Playstation. For a moment he looked back at Mia, who still seemed pretty shaky, then he muttered. "Fucking FBI. They promised me that Dom would walk. Dom never bought it. He asked whether I still beleive in Santa Clause. I guess I did until today. How can they do this! How can the judge not take into consideration what Dom has done for this state? Lifetime? they could have at least knocked some years of his sentence!" He ran his hands through his hair in desperation. "I'm so sorry!"

Mia ushered the two into the room and started a firm pace around the room, straightening things that were already straight, picking up things and moving them, doing tedious things that kept the time passing.
Letty's first time back into the house, and immediately she was back in her normal spot. She couldn't help smiling at her friend, knowing that it wasn't really appropriate. She was happy to have Letty back, even if they weren't a family anymore. Brian returned from the kitchen and had his outburst, bringing Mia back from her thoughts and to the present.
"Brian, it wasn't your fault." Mia finally managed to say. She wanted to blame Brian, sure, but it really wasn't. He had tried everything in his power, just like everyone else had. Hell, it was just as much Brian's fault as it was Mia's, right? "We'll... we'll figure something out. I'll talk to a lawyer..."

"Yeah Brian. We'll figure something out." Letty said sharply and mysteriously, repeating Mia's words but intentionally leaving out the 'talking to a lawyer' part. Brian was a smart guy, she assumed he'd get the hint.
She took a few looks at Mia as she ordered things unnecessarily, knowing she's only doing it because she's about to freak. Letty found comfort in the fact that at least they weren't alone, they had each other. And she wasn't going to give up any time soon. Dom had to get out of there.

"I hate to burst your bubble but forget the lawyer. No lawyer is going to change what Dom has done over the past decade." he knew his words were harsh and probably would make Letty angry but they were true. "I'll talk to my boss again tomorrow. But what do we do if worse comes to worst? How about we sleep about it and then make a decision." He raised his eyebrows at Letty. "Let your emotions simmer down a bit so we can think straight!"
He then turned towards Mia. "Would you mind if we crash here tonight?"

No lawyer is going to change what Dom has done over the past decade.
Mia rubbed her eyes, too tired and drained to be upset at Brian. He was right- Dom had made some bad choices over the past few years. Some really bad ones. He had been given chances over and over to corrrect himself, and Mia had begged him to stop. But of course, Dom was Dom was Dom. He wasn't going to listen to what Mia said, or Brian said, or any of the others.
Mia nodded at them both, loving the idea of having them around. She really didn't want to be alone tonight either...
"Letty can stay upstairs. You know, where you used to..." She knew Letty would know where she was talking about- even without saying that it was Dom's room. She sighed, walking to the hallway to grab an extra blanket. "Brian, you'll have to make do with the couch."

Brian turned his head and looked at the couch. It was definetly too short for him to be comfortable and he had secretly hoped to share a bed with Mia but apparently tonight wasn't a good point of time. She just wasn't ready yet to be that close he guessed. Brian nodded and sat down on the couch.
A little later he was trying to fall asleep in the dark living room. Too many things were going through his head though. How could they get Dom free legally? Even though he looked at it from every angle he couldn't come up with any solution...none that was legal at least. For half an hour he watched the reflections of cars headlights dance along the walls and ceilings. Then he carefully tip toed his way to Mias bedroom door and listened.

Mia couldn't sleep. She was drained and tired, but no sleep would come. She tossed and turned until she couldn't take laying down anymore. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, thinking about the day she had just lived through. Her throat tightened and she found herself fighting off tears.
Maybe some water will help... She wasn't sure entirely how water was going to help her, but the thought of water for her tight and sore throat was a wonderful idea. She stood and crept across the room quietly, hoping not to disturb Brian or Letty in the other room.
She opened the door and nearly screamed when Brian was standing right outside. "Jesus, Brian!"

"Mia!" Brian took a surprised step back. It must look like he was stalking her. well, he was, kind of, in a good way. He wanted to make sure she was okay. "I'm sorry. Did I wake you up?" It didn't really look like it. He leaned his back against the hallway wall. "I couldn't sleep. Too much going through my mind. Could we go inside so we don#t wake Letty up?"

Mia put her hand over her heart, trying to calm down. She took a deep breath and shook her head, motioning for him to join her. "No, you didn't wake me. I couldn't get to sleep either."
She looked down at herself and mentally cursed. Pajama bottoms and a cami wasn't exactly the best outfit to entertain your boyfriend in, but she was sure Brian wouldn't mind too much...
She shut the door behind her and flipped on the desk lamp across the room. He had mentioned things on his mind and not being able to sleep, but Mia didn't have a clue how to solve that problem. She ran a hand through her hair and smiled at him, trying to joke off her nervousness. "You know, if you wanted to sleep on my bed, I could have taken the couch..."

"Are you serious now?" He asked with disbeleive. She disliked sharing her bed that much? He sat down on her bed and rubbed his head. "I think we have a really bad situation here. Dom's not going to get out no matter how good the lawyer is and aparently the FBI doesn't have any intentions on sticking to their promise." He looked at her but didn't really see her because he was lost in thoughts again. "It's Lompoc for life." His eyes slowly wandered up to her face. When he saw her expression his tone softened. "Come here. I'm sorry. this must be terrible for you." He held out his arm so she could sit beside him.

"I was teasing Brian." Mia laughed, smile slowly fading as Brian continued talking. Of course she knew that Dom didn't stand a chance of getting out, no matter if she could hire God as their lawyer. Of course she knew that the FBI wasn't going to do a damned thing about it. But hearing Brian say it outloud brought another level of grief and reality down on her.
She looked down at her feet and tried to keep from lashing out at Brian or bursting into tears. God, how she wanted everything to go back to normal. She pushed off of the desk she was leaning on and walked over to him and burying her face in his neck. She took a deep shaky breath, earlier humor forgotten. "God, Brian, what am I going to do?"

Brian wrapped his arm around her. He could feel her shaking slightly. "We. What are we going to do about it?" They sat in the dimly lit room for a while both lost in thoughts. Finally Brian took a deep breath and said. "Letty wants to do whatever is necessary to get him out. She didn't say it explicitly but I think she's talking..." he stopped himself. Why was he even going there? He was a federal agent for crying out loud. "A, for fucks sake. She wants to break him out of prison."

Mia closed her eyes, thankful that Brian was wanting to stay in this with her. It was so good to have someone like him around while the world was crumbling around her.
Her eyes shot open and she pulled away from Brian, looking at him blankly for a moment. Breaking Dom out of prison? Wasn't that illegal? Didn't that go against everything Brian stood for? But Letty was the one talking about it, and she wouldn't put it above Letty to do just that.
She nodded, sudden feeling of relief washing over her. She didn't know why it felt right, but it did. "How do we do it?"

"Huh?" Now it was Brian's turn to pull back. "What do you mean? I expected you to start cursing me or Letty or ..." he looked at her baffled. "I didn't say I was going to do it. It's against the law. We could all end up in prison, Mia!" It suddenly seemed so outlandish now that Mia was up for it. Brian had to be the voice of reason. Out of all the people. "You know if Letty goes and does something like that it#s one thing but you!"

Mia was surprised by Brian's outburst. Sure, she had never done anything totally outlandish before, and sure, she was the group's "perfect little good girl"... but she couldn't just sit around while everyone else did the work, could she?
"He's my brother, Brian. I can't just let him stay in there and rot... And Letty is going to do what she wants to, no matter what either of us say or do, right? If their's anyway I could help..." She drifted off, seeing by Brian's face that he was not liking what she was saying. She rested her hand on his thigh, trying to comfort him. "I didn't say I was going to do anything, Brian, but why did you bring it up if you didn't want me to agree?"

That was an excellent question. Suddenly he realized that deep down he had already made the decision to help Dom no matter what the cost was. He owed him his life. But that didn't mean Brian liked the idea. He stood up, threw his arms in the air and irritately groaned. "Arrghh, damnit!" Then he turned around and faced her collecting his thoughts for a second. He held out his hands as if he wanted to preach to her. "If you make this decision I'm in! But you have to know that from that day on we might all be on the run if anybody finds out who did it."

Brian jumped up, frustrated, and Mia watched him from the bed silently as he turned back to her. She could see it written all over his face- he was going to agree. He was going to help them, help her brother.
Mia had never loved him more than she did in that moment. She jumped up and rushed into his arms, squeezing him as tightly as she could manage. "I don't care if I'm on the run, Brian. I just want our family back."
She looked up at him, eyes shining brightly. "Thank you."

If he hadn't been sold before he was now. Mia's affection was something he had longed for for a very long time. Her body felt so good against his, he just didn't want to let go. Even if he wouldn't do it for Dom he'd do it for her. "No need to thank me." He smiled into her hair. That felt good. It was worth the risk.
