Licking her lips Faye let out a breath. She had never been more scared in her life. Okay she perhaps had, when she had first moved to Miami, before she had met Jack and she had been with her now ex. Or when she had been younger and living with her father and brother. Knowing Jack had been shot, and that he had shot his own brother, she may not have liked Brian but she wasn’t completely heartless and neither was Jack. Betrayed or not Jack wouldn’t have shot Brian, she knew that, deep down she did. Jack was dark, dangerous, the reason she had fallen in love with him but he wasn’t a killer, and he wasn’t stupid. Things were worse then she thought they were, something needed to be done and with Jack still in hospital, and then getting interrogated, something needed to be done.
With a breath she huffed in a deep annoyed breath when her call when straight to voicemail, his familiar voice like honey to her ears. Joker wasn’t answering, nor was his phone on, something odd in itself. Furrowing her brow she let out a breath, dark locks of hair tumbling over one shoulder as she huffed.
Dark eyes lifted down to her watch, it was just after breakfast, which meant the dinner would be empty, a perfect place to talk. Nodding her head she scrolled down to Brian’s number (which she had stolen out of Jack’s phone.) and hit call.
“Brian its Faye. We need to talk. Can you meet me?, I have infomation that will be benificial to the case.” With a sigh she hung up the phone, hoping it get the message. It didn’t take her long to get changed into something a little less housey, and headed out of the door.
Half an hour later she was stepping into her place of work, smiling slightly at her boss before taking a seat. Just as she predicted the place was empty, perfect. Taking a seat near the door she waited for Brian to show up.

Mira sorted through evidince from the O'Conner case. Four guns, two cell phones, a couple of bullet casings, and a boat load of pictures. She was really starting to dislike this. Seeing Brian's bloodly body once was bad enough but having to see it over and over again was making her sick.
When one of the cell phones rang she jumped in surprise. It was Brian's phone. She let it go to voicemail and looked at the number. It wasn't one saved in the phone so she had a choice to make. Ignore the call and hope it didn't have anything to do with the case or call the person back. Taking a deep breath Mira hit the call button and waited.

Faye furrowed her brow as her phone rang almost seconds after she had ended the call. Brians number flashed up and her head tipped to the side ever so slightly, sighing she grabbed her phone pressing the answer button before pressing it to her ear.
“Hello?” The person that answered was a woman, obviously not Brian. Licking her lips she started to worry ever so slightly. As far as she knew, Jack had said Brian was wearing a vest, and she wasn’t aware he had a girlfriend. Swallowing she let out a breath.
“I have a message for Brian O’Conner. Tell him I have information permitting to the case, and he should meet me so we can talk” She rattled of the address, not bothering to wait for an answer, before she ended the call. Letting out a breath she sighed, once again trying to contact Joker but to no avail. With a sigh she got ready to leave.

Two hours later Brian pulled into the parking lot of a diner out of town. It had only been a few days and he still trouble walking not hunched over because of the busted muscles in his lower abs. Why he had agreed to come here he didn't know. He had orders not to let his brother know he was alive and letting Faye know was a sure way to let Jack know. After all jack had already signed the agreement but if he didn't stick to it it didn't mean shit.
From the door he could see Fayes dark locks. She was seated at a table and obviously waiting for him. Without a word Brian sat down opposite of her. A lot of thoughts shot through his mind. What did she have to offer. Why give it up now? Did she hide a gun under the table to finish what Jack had started?

The bell jingled above the door but she didn’t bother turning around, her gaze was focused on the counter. She busted her ass every freaking day, she hated this place, it was typical though, the one place she hated, she chose to finish this. Swallowing a figure loomed over her and dark eyes flicked up to meet Brian’s.
He looked like hell and she couldn’t help but get some form of satisfaction for that. He deserved everything he got. He had ratted in his own brother, his own flesh and blood. Clenching her jaw she shifted, resting her hands on the table in front of her. She knew she needed to be careful, anything she said to him she knew would be fed straight back to her boss. One slip up would have her in cuffs to, and she couldn’t help Jack behind bars.
Letting out a breath to calm the anger she felt towards Brian she slowly looked back up to him again, tongue darting out to wet her lips. “I didn’t think you’d come” She stated with a small shrug of her shoulders. There was still a part of her that wished he hadn’t.
“You ratted out your own brother” She looked at him with a raised brow and a shake of her head “You helped him on that job and you ratted him out” The anger was rising in her voice and she forced herself to push it aside.
“What’s he facing Brian”

Uneasily he shifted in his chair and muttered. "I know what I did, Faye. You don't need to stress it. But I had my reasons." Brian wasn't sure how much of his side Faye actually knew. "I told Jack right away he shouldn't blow up the warehouse but he crossed a fine but important line when he bashed my face in as a thank you and told me I'm still just a fucking pig to him." The whole time Brian tried to stay calm but was boiling under the surface. His real issue was the bulletts-jacket or not. "Maybe you should see a different perspective. Your boy pulled the trigger on me."
It was neither here nor there. Both of them knew what had happened. "20 years, maybe 10 with good behaviour, which I strongly doubt. Depends on whether I press charges or not. If I do he's looking at life."
His eyes stayed fixed on her. "Why did you let it come this far? You're smarter than this. There are different ways out of a dump."

Faye shook her head, Brian seemed to have the answers for everything. “You still helped him on that job Brian. A cop. You helped him out. Gave him the stuff he needed, even went with him” She looked at him dead in the eye, dark eyes unwavering “I think you’ve spent to long playing good guy Brian, cus we both know your anything but”
Swallowing dark eyes lowered at his words. Yes Jack had pulled the trigger, but she was sure there was a reason. Jack didn’t like his brother but she didn’t think he would willing endanger his brother. Her heart constricted at his words. Brow furrowing “Life, for shooting you” She shook her head, “I highly doubt it Brian” shaking her head she let out a breath, either way she was looking at loosing him for a long time.
Lifting her gaze she shrugged, “We both know Jack does what Jack wants. You seriously think it was about getting out a dump” She laughed shaking her head, “Both me and Jack work our asses of, everything we get in goes out on the bills, the rent, my college tuition” Licking her lips she sighed “He thinks he owes me something and that kinda money Brian, its tempting, he hadn’t accepted the job I would have” And did. But Brian didn’t needed to know that.
Sighing she lowered her gaze, “Make a deal Brian, please” Dark eyes lifted, watering ever so slightly as she looked at him, “He’s your brother Brian, you stop him doing time I can help you bring these guys down”

One or the other word Faye said was true but it actually surprised him that Jack had done everything by choice and Faye would have done the same thing. "Strange attitude for a lawyer...then again, maybe not." His experiences with lawyers weren't the best. Usually they made his job hell and didn't always want the best for the general public but for their own wallett.
Faye was here and seeing Jack in jail was something she obviously couldn't handle. "Tell me something first since you seem to know my brother much better than me. Why does he totally shit on laws, screw over people, steal, I mean...when did he totally throw his conscience over board? Are you okay with all of this?"
There was one question he really needed to know, one that was much more urgent than any of the others. So he lifted his back off his hands and looked at Faye, who had tears in her eyes. "Did he pull the trigger to kill me?"

Faye furrowed her brow as she looked at Brian, her dark eyes sparkling ever so slightly. Laughing she shook her head, “Ya know I became a lawyer to help people, to actually listen to them, and put the bad guys behind bars” She wanted to help people when no one had been there to help her. When no one had listened to her. She got some lawyers were bad, but not all of them were. She wasn’t.
Licking her lips she shrugged her shoulders ever so slightly “I don’t know the reasons Jack does things Brian. Am I okay with what he did to you, no im not” Licking her lips she sighed , she didn’t like Brian, but shooting him. She was going to have to talk to Jack about that one.
Lowering her gaze Faye let out a breath, dark eyes lifting to meet Brians once more “I may not understand Jack all the time Brian, but I do know him well enough to know he didn’t shoot you to kill you” She could honestly say that. She knew Jack well enough, he wouldn’t have tried to kill his own flesh and blood.
Letting out a breath her head lowered once more, before she looked up at him, “He wont give you guys what you need Brian, he cant” Letting out a breath she looked up at him, “But I can” Jack didn’t know who he was working for, but she did. “Don’t press the chargers, do what you ever you gotta do, don’t make him serve time Brian”

He followed every move she made, every beating of her eyelashes or twitch of her mouth. When she talked about Jack not wanting to kill him , she was telling the truth and Brian had known that before she told him. Jack might be a lot of things but not a killer.
"I can't." He lowered his gaze. "The hole he dug himself is too deep. They won't offer him any other deal than less time. All I can do is not press charges for shooting me...I'm probably not going to. We're even. I got him, too, I think." Brian still wasn't quite sure whether he'd gotten Jack or Mira had taken both shots.
Why hadn't Faye spoken up about who's behind it before...not even to his brother. "Tell me who's behind the whole thing and I'll make sure that they don't get their hands on Jack while he's out there as an informant. You know they'll aim better."

Faye licked her lips, dark eyes flicking up at Brian. Dark eyes wide and filled with fear. Swallowing she shook her head, “Yea you can Brian, you’re a cop, remember that” Licking her lips she let out a breath, living without Jack, adding him to another person she could only see behind bars, she couldn’t do it. “You took my brother Brian, don’t take Jack” Her words were soft, and they were almost pleading with him. Big brown eyes filled with emotion, and more importantly fear. Worry.
Laughing dryly Faye shook her head, “It doesn’t work that way Brian” She stated with a small shrug of her shoulder. She wasn’t about to dob these guys in it for nothing. And if she couldn’t help Jack out of the hole he had dug himself she wasn’t about to spill any names. Not to Brian and not to Jack. She still had to explain Joker to him.
Letting out a breath she looked up at him, “You get them to let Jack of, and I help you” She lent forward, dark eyes wide, serious, there was no room for argument, she was serious and wasn’t going to back down.
“Or I take you down Brian, you were in on that job, you helped your brother” She smirked softly “And im thinking your boss knows and turned a blind eye” Her head tipped to the side “I know a judge who would love that, and love to take both your jobs”

As long as Faye was pleading Brian felt with her- at least a little but then she brought up Leon again. "I did not take your brother. On the contrary, I tipped the whole gang off. Some other cop arrested him." He huffed and looked away when he noticed that a few people were looking at them. The waitress decided to break it up by taking his order. "Coke, please." "Would you like anything to eat?" "No!" With a strange look on her face the waitress returned to the kitchen leaving them alone.
Leaning a little closer Brian lowered his voice. "Don't threaten me, Faye. There's no use. I had orders. Plus I don't like being threatened." On top of that Brian didn't think she knew who really behind it so he leaned back and crossed his arms. "If you know who's pulling the strings why not tell Jack? He could have made a deal before."

Faye shook her head, “You might not have arrested him Brian but it is still you fault” She stated with a shake of her head. She didn’t particully like talking about her brother, tipping her head she swallowed. Letting out a breath she sighed, she had to work here the last thing she wanted was trouble arising between them, but then what had she expected to happen between them.
Offering her work colleague a shrug of her shoulders and turned her gaze over to Brian once more. Laughing she shook her head, dark eyes sparkling as she leant forward, “Because they hired a hit man Brian” Sighing she swallowed, it was bad enough that Jack was in jail, possibly serving a lot of time.
“A good hit man” Licking her lips she sighed, “I know him, he told me to hold of, these people are dangerous Brian but he doesn’t think it stops at the people who hired him” Swallowing she lowered her gaze.

Now Faye had his attention. With disbelief he asked. "A hitman?" A small laugh escaped his lips. "Jack's not that important. He's only stealing cars!" He shook his head. "I don't know what you've been drinking but nobody would hire a hitman for a small fish like Jack." Already his mind was working on why a hit man might have been sent -if she was telling the truth. Was there something in those cars or were they serving a special purpose.
"And you know this guy? You're surrounding yourself with criminals? Exciteting, huh?" He mocked.
The waitress placed his drink on the table and turned right around. Brian took a drink and watched the liquid do a circle in his glass. "I wish I could get him off the hook but I honestly can't. All we could work on is a deal but he already agreed to wearing a microphone so...he's saving himself some trouble." A little uneasy he added. "So say I belief there's a hit man. When is he going to take him out?"

Her eyes rolled at the disbelief she saw mirrored in his eyes She hated that, hated how he didn’t believe her. Licking her lips she let out a sight, one of annoyance, her dark eyes flashing with it. Rolling her eyes she let out a breath, trying to clam her anger. “Jack was late on one of the shipments” She stated shaking her head.
Letting out a breath she tipped her head and looked up at him, one brow raised ever so slightly “Think what you want about me Brian” She stated with a shrug of her shoulders. She didn’t exactly care, if she knew Joker the way she thought she did he wouldn’t do anything to Jack, or her.
Licking her lips her eyes went wide with disbelief, “A wire, they’ll kill him on the spot, Brian you think these guys are stupid enough to actually show themselves to Jack” Shaking her head she lent across the table “they have money, and power” Heaving in a breath she shrugged at his question.
“The second his boss tells him to” Her eyes were once more filled with fear, “if he doesn’t make his shipment, he screws up, talks to the cops” She eyed him, “Brian Jack is your brother, please”

Brian knew that Faye was right about the wire. If they searched Jack he was dead. He needed a damn good explanation why he was walking the streets again anyway. "I know. The department doesn't trust him. They think he'll run. They'll probably put a bug on him." Brian let his eyes scan the people of the restaurant , who were busy eating and talking unsuspiciously. "Don't pull the brother card, Faye. Jack doesn't feel that way anymore even if I do." He finished he coke and sighed. "The reason I tried to help him was because I had brotherly feelings but he managed to kill them, Faye. Jack doesn't give a shit about me and if you're honest you don't either. Plus I'm not the chief. I'm not making the calls but I will try to put a good word in." 'As if that would help'. Of course Brian would watch every single one of Jacks steps closely. "Are you going to tell him that he didn't kill me?"

Faye sighed shaking her head, Jack was Brian’s brother and he was putting him in the line of fire by sending him back out on the streets, with a god damn bug. Sighing softly Faye rolled her eyes, dark eyes sparkling with annoyance, “Are you hearing yourself here Brian what does it matter if he shares the whole brother thing, he still loves you”
Leaning forward she looked him in the eyes, it didn’t matter what she thought, the man opposite her had grown on her, despite the fact he was a cop, Leon had seen something good inn him, and she was starting to as well, she just hoped it didn’t turn out to be bull. “Your about to sign his death certificate Brian” She stated softly.
Licking her lips she shifted, resting against the back of the booth, her dark eyes remained locked on him, the question was a good one “Your gonna tell the chief that he’s gonna be better on the street as an informant, just think of the type of people they’ll bring down using him”
Shrugging her shoulders she sighed “He deserves to know your alive, he wasn’t aiming to kill Brian, don’t let him live with that guilt”

He couldn't keep his eyes trained on her but had to look away. Guilt. That was the whole purpose of not telling Jack. It hadn't been Brian's idea but as much as he knew it was wrong he did somewhat enjoy the revenge after all Jack had pulled the trigger first. He fiddled with his glass, wiped the small beads that had formed on the outside of the glass away and then took a drink. "Don't tell him yet. I'll tell him when the time has come." Brian left two dollars on the table and got up. When he walked past Faye and briefly stopped. "Don't worry. Thanks for talking to me." Then he kept walking. the jingle of the doorbell gave away his departure.
