Faye was taken aback with the tone he was using with her. Furrowing her brow slightly, her head tilting to the side as she looked at him before quickly diverting her gaze. Perhaps sharing her good news with him hadn’t been the best idea after all. Heaving in a deep breath she shook her head, “You are a good guy Brian” She muttered with a shake of her head.
“Brian im not even going begin to say what he did wasn’t wrong okay, I know all about the things he’s done and what hes capable of” She stated gently, but he was also a good guy, she knew that. Her dark eyes snapped up to him, shaking her head slightly.
“No Brian, im helping you because you need some help, im helping you because I came to Tokyo and then left instead of sticking there and helping you then” Shrugging a shoulder ever so slightly she pushed herself up, “But if you don’t want it then fine”

"I'm sorry." Brian averted his gaze. here he was with Faye who was so generous and nice and he had nothing better to do than insult her.
So he changed his attitude and asked. "How is he? Is he still in the hospital?" Then it suddenly dawned on him. "You know there were two guys at the hospital trying to finish what they started. If they know you're with him they might want to ...I don't know." He didn't want to scare her but these men were professional killers. "Hurt you or something."

Faye was glad when he changed his attitude. She couldn’t blame him for his thoughts on Joker, but she knew him, she knew him from before, during and now she was going to know him after as well. Looking over at Brian she laughed slightly shaking her head. “No he’s at home” She stated gently, and by home she meant her place. Heaving in a deep breath she let it out slowly her brow creasing ever so slightly. Shrugging a shoulder she looked away for a moment.
“I know what would happen Bri, but he wouldn’t let that happen and I can handle myself” Her dark eyes flicked back over towards him she wasn’t the scared little girl she had once been, she had learned things, she had changed, and it was all for the better.
“Thanks for the concern, but really im safe”

"How can you be safe with a guy like him? They shot him in a court through a window from another building! Then tried to kill him in a hospital." Maybe Brian needed to let her know what exactly had happened. "Maybe he's not the guy he's pretending to be. Faye, don't get mad at me. I just want to warn you. I don't know how much he's telling you about himself." I'm sure as hell walking on thin ice but I care about Faye enough to let her know what happened to me because of her fiance.

Faye under no circumstances wanted the specifics of what had happened to Joker. He had told her and that was bad enough, she didn’t want a reminder, didn’t want to be reminded of what job he did, and that even now, even if he was free and clear there was a possibility it was going to bite him in the ass, that it was going to come after him again.
Looking over at Brian she shook her head, seriously the guy needed shaking he really did. “I know everything Brian. When I was still working in Miami I was working for his lawyer. We got close, we were out one night and the hotel we were at got shot up, I spent months thinking he was dead before he came back and told me the truth” Brushing a hand through her hair she let out a deep breath.
“When I saw him after your trial he told me everything. He risked his life righting his wrongs Brian, and I know he would never endanger me, not willingly. I love him and im happy, cant you just be happy for me?” She questioned as she looked over at him, dark eyes pleading wit him.

Either Faye didn't want more information or she already knew what she needed to know as she was pleading with Brian to just leave it be and be happy for her. He could only nod and rubbed her arm. "Okay. I just wanted to protect you." He supported his statement with an encouraging smile. "Looks like he's changing anyway."
With another quick look around at the nicely furnished house he walked towards the door. "You said you have a contract in the car? let's look at it over some lunch."
The yard outside was just as immaculate as the inside with nicely trimmed grass and a hedge, a sitting area and even a small sparkling fountain. This place was a huge upgrade from Jacks shack plus he'd be living here with a beautiful girl instead of his uncombed, lazy brother.

“That’s sweet Bri, but I got my brother to do that, I don’t need another one” She stated gently, her dark eyes looking over at him. It was nice to have people that cared about her, but she knew Joker and she knew what he was capable of and knew what everyone else was as well
“He is Bri, he really s” Smiling at him she let out a deep breath as she stood from the sofa nodding her head. “Yea I did, come on” Following him out of the house she slid behind the drivers seat and then they were of, driving to the nearest diner that was gonna actually sell some decent food. Finally pulling the car to a stop she unlocked the boot and reached inside, grabbing her bag before heading inside.
Dropping down into a seat she quickly ordered, “Coffee and er, double cheese burger and fries” Smiling her gaze shifted over towards Brian flicking open the bag and pulling out the paperwork.
“its pretty standard stuff, read it and then sign on the bottom of every page”

It felt strange to always ride with somebody else. Brian simply loved having his own car too much get used to being in the passenger seat. "I'll soon need to buy a new car and some kids seats but I can't afford anything decent. I can already hear brother laughing!"
Together with Faye he entered the restaurant and soon found a seat at the window. "Beef dip and a coke." He added to the order and then took the file from Faye's hands. He opened the paper cover and started scanning the text. From what he could tell it was a standard contract but he had to double check the amount of rent. "No kidding." Shaking his head he asked Faye for a pen and then signed his name on the bottom of each page. A smile played on his lips as he returned the contract. "Wow, this is going to be awesome. Hang on a minute."
He pulled out his phone and dialled Miras number, which went to the mail box because she had probably turned it off in the hospital. "Hey baby, I have awesome news for you. Remember how we were talking about where we're going to live? I found a place. It's a small house and really nice and cheap. Love you. Bye!" He ended the call and looked back at Faye with sparkling eyes. "That was a great idea, Faye." Little did he know how soon he would need a new roof over his head due to his brothers whicked plans.

He seemed to be studying the contract and she wondered what he was looking at. Raising her brow slightly she waited for him to disagree with something. Tilting her head ever so slightly she let out a deep breath, tapping her fingers on the table ever so slightly “If you have any problems or anything, they go through me” She stated smiling at him, “With Mike being out of the country we figured you’d be comfortable contacting someone you know”
“You deserve some happiness in your life Brian so im glad I could do something for you. If there is anything just let me know” Biting the inside of her lip she shifted as the waitress came back with their food, smiling slightly she looked over to Brian.
“How are you though Brian. Reallly”

Faye's just the sweet helpful girl I've gotten to know her as. What strange fate that she should be with a guy like Walter but it was her decision.
Just when the food arrived and Brian was ready to dig into the first real meal in days after eating at the hospital cafeteria and Burger King for weeks, Faye asked about his well being. Grabbing his sandwich with hot slice meat on it his mouth started watering so he simply replied. "Good." Then he dipped it in the gravy and took a big bite out of it and chewed thoroughly savoring the hearty taste in his mouth. Looking back up at Faye he could tell she didn't buy his lie so he swallowed and placed the sandwich on the plate. "What do you want me to say, Faye? Life's been shitty for so long I can't even remember what it's like to have a badge on my belt or win a race." He looked at her for a long moment wondering whether he should also tell her about his relationship problems but decided against it.

Clearly Brian hadn’t been eating well because he was eying the food like it was a gift from god so when he told her that he was ‘good’ she didn’t believe him, not one little bit and her dark eyes showed as much. She was good at reading people yes, but sometimes it was just so damn obvious when you were being bullshited and this was one of those times. She didn’t want to push him though, and yet at the same time she knew how difficult things were, how hard it was to move on from things. Biting the inside of her lip she watched as he devoured his food, turning to her own food, taking a couple of fries and eating with a little more dignity then Brian was managing.
“Im so Brian” Her tone showed how honest she was. Brian was a good guy and he deserved some damn luck in his life. “You were a good cop Bri, but your heart isn’t in it, you don’t see things in shades of black and white and for the job you need to” She doubted her words would cut it, but ti was the truth. Cops couldn’t see in shades of grey, they couldn’t feel or act especially during the undercover crap. Heaving in a deep breath she let it out before picking up her burger and taking a bite out of it.
“Is that all that’s bothering you?” She questioned slightly “Cus I tell ya, you can start winning races again Bri, some luck is gonna fall your way, and you know, if you ever need any help financially until your on your feet im your girl” She waved her hand stopping any words he was about to say.
“And by that I mean Leon is running Dom’s old place im sure he could do with a hand”

For a moment he contemplated spilling his relationship beans to her but then reconsidered and ate his sandwich instead, which was gone in n time, while Fayes plate was still full.
Her last words caught his interest like nothing else. Brian didn't have time or nerves to apply for a job and then have to provide a clean criminal record, which he didn't have but earning an honest dollar at a friends shop sounded great. "Really?" He wondered and washed down the last crumbs with some coke. "I didn't even know Leon is still in town."
The fact that Dom was around was even more surprising and Brian wondered whether Faith knew. "Did you know Dom's out of prison?"

Her brow furrowed slightly, he looked like he was about to tell her something and decided against it. Shrugging it of though she decided if he wasn’t telling, she wasn’t pushing so instead she focused on her burger, chewing on it slowly, while every now and then listening to Brian as he spoke. He seemed a hell of a lot happier at the mention of Leon.
“Like he’d leave this place” She muttered, no her brother loved LA too much to ever leave. Faye let out a deep sigh, slowly nodded her head.
“Yea I do” Her brown gaze flicked up to him, she was contemplating telling him that Dom was about to get himself into some serious trouble if he didn’t back the hell away, but Brian had enough shit in his life to be dealing with. She’d deal with Doms problem herself.
“So how are you and Mira?” She questioned returning to her burger and fries.

Brian eyed her out of the corner of his eye for a moment. What was this? Could she read his mind or was it just a question she was popping out because of the new babies. "Fine." He lied again and busied himself with a napkin that was on the table. "After we go shopping, could we stop by the garage? I'd love to see the old dog again."
He could practically feel Fayes eyes on him so instead of looking at her he fiddled with the green fabric. "I guess being on te run and shoot outs and car chases don't do a relationship a whole lot of good." He admitted. "Her father is the one who put the cuffs on me in Tokyo." His blue eyes were wandering around the restaurant. "So it's not just all burps a giggles." He left out the bit where Mia came and saw him in Tokyo and provoked some old feelings to return. "We're starting to sort things out though."

There he was with the lying again, she hadn’t meant to hit a sore spot, in fact she had presumed it would have been a happy thing to talk about. He had two beautiful children, so why was he avoiding her eyes and looking less then impressed with things. Shaking her head slightly she continued watching him, she didn’t believe him for one second, couldn’t believe it at all, but she wasn’t going to push him.
“Im sure Leon would love to see you” Faye stated gently, smiling at him with a bright sparkle in her eye, she did love her brother, but he didn’t know about the engagement and she wasn’t looking forward to him finding out, not in the slightest.
Then finally Brian began opening up to her. Tilting her head ever so slightly she listened to him with rapt attention “I can understand how that puts a strain on things Brian.” Licking her lips she let out a slow, soft breath. “Its hard Brian, but you’ve got two beautiful children, and things will work out, I promise, even if you don’t see it, things happen for a reason”

He wasn't sure how Faye could be so positive but it was a good attitude. So while he fiddled around with his napkin he replied. "I wish I had some of that attitude. Lately my glass has always been half empty but I guess you're right. I have an apartment now, maybe a job and we should do some shopping when you're done." Finishing up the rest of his drink he looked around to wave the waitress down. "I'll show you a picture of the twins once I have one. They are tiny." He smile a little at the memory but at the same time wondered why his overwhelming happiness has such a tint of grey. Why wasn't he in the best of moods ever? "I'll be fine, just need more sleep and my head out of the sling. But your man took care of that, right?" For some reason he still needed reassurance since he had no idea what was in that file. "Do you know what exactly he handed in?"

Faye smiled as she looked over at him. “Brian I’ve been where you are. I know how hard it is to be positive when life has done nothing but kicked you while your down” Shrugging a shoulder ever so slightly she let out a breath. “But you gotta kick back” Dark eyes focused on him, watching him concern shining in her eyes. She had known Brian long enough now, and she had never once seen him so down and defeated.
“Shopping sounds fun, sure you have plenty of crap you gotta buy” Biting the inside of her lip she let out a breath. She knew it was going to be hard for everyone, especially the man sat opposite her, and god knows how her brother was going to take the news, oh yea that was going to go down well. Lowering her gaze slightly her shoulder shrugged in answer.
“I dunno Brian, a lot of crap about corrupt government officials” She shrugged a shoulder slightly, ,she still couldn’t get her head around her head around everything Joker had told her. “I know you have no reason to trust him Brian, but he’s trying okay, and if he says your free, your free” Lifting her gaze up to him she smiled slightly, letting out a breath as she looked at him.
“You can get back to your life”

"That sounds almost to good to be true." He offered her a genuine smile. Faye suddenly popped up in a time of his life when he needed somebody with a positive outlook to support him. "Don't know how you sensed that I needed somebody to give me a push but you sure came at a good time." He told her when the waitress approached the table with their bill. If only he could say that he'd cover it but he was so close to broke that he simply couldn't afford to. "I'm sorry, Faye. I can only cover my own." How far did he have to fall to be so low on money.
He handed the waitress a ten and waited for the change, of which he gave her a small tip. "Thank you."
Together they left the restaurant and got in the car to drive into town. "You don't know anybody with used baby seats and stuff by any chance?" He wondered because shopping for two at a store would cost a fortune. "If not then go to wallmart."

“Iv been where you are, I know the signs Brian” And if he didn’t get out of his funk quickly he was just going to go on a downward spiral that wasn’t going to get any better, in fact it would get worse, until he was flirting with full blown depression if he wasn’t already there. With everything she had seen so far it was a distinct probability that he was.
“Don’t worry about it “She stated gently. She would have covered them both, but she doubted Brian wanted her covering him any more than she already had. Handing over her own bill and telling her to keep the change, she followed Brian out of the café and slid into her car.
“Word of advice Brian, second hand car seats are a no go, same with prams” Looking over at him she smiled slightly driving in the direction he had suggested. She would have taken him to the mall, would have covered him for anything he wanted but again she doubted he’d let her. Flicking her gaze over to him she bit the inside of her lip.
“Ya know, a couple of races, with the money im sure you’d bring in from working with Lee, you’ll be out of trouble. So how bout we head to the mall, get some things you’ll be proud of and you pay me back later” Focusing on the road once more she hoped she hadn’t over stepped her boundaries.
“No catch, nothing in return Brian, promise”

"I have no idea about baby stuff. So no second hand seats." He stated and got a little worried about all the things he should know but didn't. "Maybe I should have spent more time preparing for the birth than my trial. Looks like things solved themself." He smiled a little wearily while watching the scenery fly by. "I'm glad you're here, Faye."
Her plan about racing and making money sounded pretty good. "Sounds like a plan. If you really want to lend me the money I promise I'll pay it back as soon as I can."
