General Personality:
Zach is, suffice to say, the kind of guy you'll either love or hate. He's got no problem speaking his mind and rarely gives so much as the slightest bit of concern as to what others think of him. He's did his time in the Army and it either made him a bigger asshole or a better person, determining which is up to whoever meets him. What you might consider the typical, loud, good ol' boy from Indiana, his personality is often in contrast with his appearance. But, the old saying goes, you can take the man out of the country but you can never take the country out of the man. He's the kind of guy who prefers to spend his days with an ice cold beer, sitting on the porch or in front of a bonfire over big city life.
For all intents and purposes though, Zach is a very good natured kind of guy. He enjoys both a good joke and a good time. More apt to be somebody's friend than enemy, Zach does what he can to be pleasant to everyone around him, unless they give him a reason to be an ass of course. Don't mistake his pleasant demeanor though, at the end of the day, he really couldn't care less about what anyone thinks of him. He's self-sufficient and doesn't much concern himself with the thoughts of other people, especially those he's decided he doesn't exactly like the company of.
Moving on from his almost typical American mentality, Zach has something else to his personality that is less common but has a habit of peaking out from time to time. War takes its toll on men of service, and Zach is no exception. Three deployments in an ten year period of service took their toll on the man. While he's hardly crazy, there are triggers that can off-balance Zach, earning either an aggressive response or whatever might happen. It's something that's not exactly out of control in regards to the man, but it is a very real part of who he is, and has, at times, been the sort of thing to spell pain for offending parties who just might to happen to push the wrong buttons.
THE APPEARANCE
Zach is a fairly well built guy, athletic and standing at roughly six-feet one-inch tall with hazel eyes. While not exactly required to keep up appearances, he maintains a professional look about him, rarely seen without a shaved face and often wearing a well groomed haircut. He has various tattoos on his body, a family coat of arms on his left shoulder, just above the bicep, Psalms 23:4 on the back of his left shoulder, and a complex sleeve down his left depicting war that ends just above his wrist. All in all, he looks like what you'd expect from a guy who had served, well maintained yet course all in the same breath, and that's just how he likes it. Overall, Zach might be what some would consider a handsome guy.
Attire wise, Zach will wear anything comfortable, which often encompasses boots, blue jeans and either a t-shirt or button down. Altogether, he has a touch of a good ol' boy flair to him, but not so much that he's always seen with a ballcap. A key note for his attire though, is that he's almost always seen wearing a jacket of some sort, be it leather or a bomber jacket. Some might think it's just a part of his fashion, and it is, but there's also purpose behind it. When wearing a jacket one can almost always assume he's carrying, and the jacket just makes it that much easier to conceal whatever firearm he might be carrying.

History:
Zach was born and raised in small town USA Covington, Indiana. It's what you'd expect out of a rural town with nothing but farmland and a lone company outside of the city limits. Typical good people, church on sundays, nice old cars and lifted trucks. It was a little piece of paradise and he loved every bit of it. The eldest of two, Zach went through his early years learning to hunt, grow crops and work on cars in his dad's shop. His high school years were spent playing football and wrestling, playing the scene of the typical jock with the prospect of college on the horizon.
College was never an interest to the young man though, Zach grew up listening to his father talk about Vietnam and his grandfather's stories about Korea. Army green was in the blood, and he always had his desires to follow in their footsteps. After his high school graduation, Zach quickly made his way to the nearest recruiting office and joined up. The Afghanistan War had yet to occur, 9/11 all of two years away still. So he left for training, taking the first steps into becoming a Ranger like both his father and grandfather.
The first couple years in the Army were less than glamorous, involving little more than arduous training exercise after exercise. After 9/11 though, everything changed, and Zach was soon off to war. With his first deployment being to Afghanistan during the initial surge, he came to learn the full extent of war, and the horrors it brought, but he did his duty, served his twelve months and soon returned home from his first rotation. Healthy and proud of his initial tour, two more would soon follow in the coming years.
Entering into his ninth year of service and third deployment though, God would prove that He had other plans for the now hardened Ranger. A well placed shot in his right shoulder pulled Zach out of both the warzone and completely out of commission. Finishing out his last year, Zach was medically retired from the Army, leaving him to collect disability and find new work. While wanting to return home to Indiana, there were hardly any jobs for somebody with his background in the Mid-West, so he set his eyes on either of the main coasts. After a few months of searching for employment, Zach managed to land a job as a contracted physical security consultant for various firms, to include but not limited to armed escort services and corporate security in Los Angeles.
With his new six figure income, Zach settled into his own house on the northern outskirts, a garage almost as large as his home, and with more money than sense. Finally, he had a job that offered both a substantial income and a bit of peace from his previous life. Sure, he wasn't rich, but he had plenty of off-time between contracts and finances to both invest appropriately while also partaking in an old hobby of his, building cars.

"Really? Another Honda?"
Zach sighed to himself as he stood leaning against the side of his Roush, smoking a cigarette while some other college automechanics drop out pulled up beside him. In front of the car sat a good half-mile stretch of open road, the only other cars nearby being those sat up alongside the road with many a spectator watching. He hated Honda runners, there was just something about the sound of coffee can exhaust, a bad turbo and the weed-whacking scream of a four-cylinder in a CRX that just made him roll his eyes. Well, maybe it wasn't so much how the car sounded, but how they always looked, budget builds with little thought to actual performance and poorly cut springs to make them squat lower, all with stock tires of course. But, he wasn't the type to say no to a run, even if the only thing he'd get out of it was enough money to fill his gas tank and buy some cheap nachos from the gas station. Flicking his cigarette to the ground, Zach opened the door and hopped behind the wheel of his 2014.
With the press of a button the built and supercharged 5.0 Coyote roared to life, the loapy cams sang a sweet tune with the exhaust and the high-pitched whine of the Kenne Bell. Not but a second or so later, the starter made his way to the middle of the two lanes, signaling the CRX to pull up slightly before giving him the stop. Both hands shot up, then, after a moment's pause, the non-existent tree went green. With the engine reving high, Zach's foot left the clutch and pressed on the gas. Like a .45, the black Roush shot forward, tires squeeling as they cried out for traction. A moment later, the shoes hooked the pavement and the black Roush was long gone, leaving the CRX at the starting line and crossing the finish maybe all of some ten seconds later.
Pulling off the road and into a gravel picnic area where several of the spectators had gathered, Zach parked his car and stepped out, a couple friends laughing, one or two patting him on the back. It was nothing special though, just another day in the neighborhood, and another Friday night for him with nothing better to do than to head out to the well-kept secret of a half-mile stretch to see if any local owners had any cars worth playing around with. Sure, there were always the couple corvettes, but they were all driven by some rich kid who didn't know so much as the slightest about cars. Giving a quick wave to another familiar face, the man pulled out his pack of smokes and lit one in his mouth, feeding the old habit as he waited to watch the next heat of cars. He'd heard Jimmy had finally gotten the 72 Z/28 running, and he was more than ready to see that crazy bastard bring it out. Until then, it'd be the normal sort of night, bullshitting, smoking, drinking and driving, all very bad combinations of course.
