The young Mexican woman did her best to pull the person to the shore but the current kept pulling her away and under water. He swallowed tons of it and kept yelling for help when suddenly somebody reached for her. At first she thought it was one of the men, who had dumped the person off the bridge and struggled to push him away from her, screaming and at cursing at him. When she noticed that he tried to help her she nodded and let goof the woman she was dragging along and swam to the shore. She wasn't a good swimmer and had never been in there at night. It was harder than she expected.

Jack cursed under his breath at the Mexican woman when a foot almost hit him in the crown jewels as he tried to keep himself and the other person above the surface. "Fuck. Lady, I'm only trying to help!" What was she afraid of anyway. That he had jumped in to the water just so he could drown an already drowning person? He was crazy, but not that crazy.
The moment the Mexican woman seemed to realize that herself and stopped fighting him, things became a little easier while he slowly but surely pulled the unconscious body to shore. He wasn't sure whether the Mexican woman was following behind him and when he finally saw Brian making his way in to the water, he rolled his eyes despite the situation. "Yo slowpoke! Could use a little help here!"

The woman kept going under and struggled hard against the current. When she came up again Brian reached for her shirt and held on to it. He then pulled her close to himself and reached for her arm pulling her with him while he tried swimming against the cold flow. Brian was a pretty good swimmer but had a hard time getting to the shore. When he finally reached it he rested on all fours for a brief moment.
Then he hurried over to Jack to find him checking the persons pulse. Dark wet hair covered her face but as soon as Brian was close enough he recognised who it was. Those cargos and the tnak top looked very familiar. He brushed the hair back and looked into Letty's motionless face. "Letty." He whispered. "Did you find her pulse?" He asked while he held his hand on her chest to feel whether she was breathing. She didn't. "Pulse, Jack?"

Jack nodded while he let go of Letty's wrist. "There is one, but it's weak."
He stood up, running a hand through his wet hair while he briefly looked at his brother. "Do you know CPR? I'll check the car for a blanket or something. She's cold as hell."
He gave Brian a reassuring pat on the shoulder before he hurried to the Skyline to find something to keep Letty warm. Luckily there was still some swimming gear, including big towels from a beach trip in the trunk. He quickly gathered them, handing one to the dazed and shivering Mexican woman, before making his way back to Brian and Letty. "How is she doing?"

At the moment Brian was preoccupied with carefully pushing Letty's chin up and giving her the breath of life. This was one of those moments he was thankful for the many CPR courses he had to do. His fingers searched for her pulse on her neck while he stopped for a few seconds. it was there but faint. Brian leaned over her again and put his lips on hers to give her breath again. When he took a deep breath himself he looked into her face, which still showed no motion. "C'mon, Letty. Breath!" He encouraged her before he kept going. The pulse underneath his fingers became stronger and he could hear her traing to draw a breath. Instead she started gurgling and spitting out water. Brian rolled her over to his side and gave his brother a desperate look. His fingers were shaking.

She was sinking deeper and deeper into her watery grave, she couldn't save herself no matter how hard she strained against it, the walls were closing in on her, and her voice was lost to the silent waters.
It was getting harder and harder to breathe. Suddenly she found herself being pulled upward. Now that wasn't right...
"Letty," Someone was calling to her, but she didn't know who.
"Letty," They were sure persistant who ever it was, what were they freakin blind? She was right here.
"Come on Letty, Breathe!" Air was being forced into her chest, she really had no other option, so she took in a breath, and brought up the water in her system.
Letty rolled onto her side, coughing up water and sputtering violently. She took in big gulps of air, as though she was just learning to breathe for the first time.
Letty opened her eyes a bit and found there was someone leaning over her, she squinted at them until their face came into focus, she reached toward them to see if what she was seeing was real, and that she wasn't dead.
"Bri...Brian?" she gasped breathlessly.

"Oh, thank goodness." Brian sighed and sat back on his feet still holding her head in his hands. He didn't care if she threw up right on them. For a moment he thought he'd lost her all over again but now she was breathing.
He gave her a warm smiled and brushed back the long wet hair that clung to her face. Then the cop leaned forward and pulled his friend in a long, tight embrace rocking back and forth slightly. Hearing her voice made his heart jump for joy.
He looked over at Jack and reached for the blanket he was holding. With a look into her eyes he confessed. "I can't beleive you're alive. We all thought we lost you."
He hugged her again, then tugged on her shirt. "You're freezing. Let's get your wet clothes off."
That's when he noticed that her arms and legs were tied. "Do you still have your MacGyver knive, Jack?"

Jack raised his eyebrows and looked at Brian as if he was stupid and didn't know what his brother meant. "My what? I never watched..." He cut himself off and rolled his eyes while he pulled out an old Swiss army knife. He was talking to his brother, who was he kidding?
"It still comes in handy when I don't have a bottle opener or something around, alright?" He muttered while he kneeled down and started cutting the ropes, freeing both Letty's arms and legs.
He gave her a quick once over and frowned. The cuts, the bruises, they were all over her body. "Damn girl, they fucked you up good."
He shook his head and looked over at Brian. He had no idea who they were up against and maybe he was jumping the gun a little fast, but he couldn't stand what they had done to Letty. Even if he didn't know her. "They must have dumped her in the river minutes ago. Maybe we can still catch up to these assholes, give them what they deserve."

Brian was still cradling Letty but Jack had a point. These guys shouldn't get away with it. "Check on the other woman. Is she alright?"
Then he helped Letty out of her wet clothes. First he pulled her partly ripped tank top over her head, then unbottuned her pants. "Don't worry. I'm just going to help you out of those wet clothes. I've got some dry clothes in my trunk." When she was stripped to her underwear he wrapped the blanket around her and lifted her up. "What do you say, Letty. Wanna hunt those bastards down?"
The way up to the car proofed to be quite a challenge through the thorny scrub but Brian insisted on carrying his half-dead friend. Once he made it to the top his arms and legs were srcatched. He looked back at Jack, who was helping the Mexican woman up the hill.
Brian put Letty in the passenger seat and handed her a pair of his boardshorts and a worn t-shirt. The night was pretty warm so the clothes would do.

Letty lay back on the wet ground wondering how in the hell she could be alive, she had to be the luckiest woman alive to have a friend like Brian. Suddenly he was hugging her, she would have done the same if only her hands and feet weren't still bound.
She noticed that Brian hadn't come alone, and there was another guy who she didn't recognize with him. He handed Brian a swiss army knife, and commented on her many injuries. "Damn girl, they fucked you up good."
She probably looked like shit, but she couldn't get the image of Fenix advancing toward her out of her head. "What do you say, Letty. Wanna hunt those bastards down?"
Letty didn't answer immediately she was shivering, Brian had managed to cut her out of her wet clothes, but she was so sore she couldn't move from where she sat. Brian wrapped her in a blanket, and carried her to the car. He sat her in the passenger sat and gave her some dry clothes.
"Thanks," she whispered appreciatively.
She fumbled with the clothes feeling so worn out from everything that just happened, she needed to tell Brian what had happened.
"Brian..." she grabbed his shirt to make him stand still and listen to her. "Brian it was Braga, him and Fenix..."
She winced painfully against the seat, "Those bastards they are the one's who caught me."

Brian nodded. "I figured that much." He looked at her with great concern. She didn't look good at all. Her eyes were drifting closed, her skin pale and covered in bruises. The colour had left her shivering lips. She'd lost weight too like they didn't feed her anything but rice and water. It was hard to see her like this.
With a frown he asked. "Maybe we should bring you to a doctor or home first. It'll be a long ride and they think you're dead now. Maybe we should leave it at that and come back with support?"
His gaze wandered from her to his brother and back.

Jack slightly frowned at Brian's words. "You're just gonna give up now? What are you, a coward?" He pointed towards Letty while he looked at his brother in disbelieve. "Look at what they did to your friend, bro!"
He shook his head before he glanced at Letty again and toned it down a notch. As much as he wanted to kick some ass, he had to admit she did looked to be in no state to be hauled through Mexico for some pay back. Maybe Brian had a point.
He gave his brother an apologetic pat on the shoulder. "I'm sorry, man. You're probably right."

Letty weakly shook her head. "As much as I wouldn't mind kicking Fenix's ass... and throwing that bastard Braga in a bottomless pit, I'm not sure I'd be much help to you."
She finshed pulling on the dry clothes grateful for what little warmth they provided. Her body was an aching mess of cuts and bruises, and judging on how much it hut to breathe she was sure that there were a couple ribs broken.
"How come you didn't bring backup?" she asked looking at the guy he had brought with him. He looked like a kid, younger than Brian, and she was almost certain that he wasn't with the FBI.

Brian looked at Jack. "I did bring my brother as backup. This is non-official. Mexico is out of the FBIs jusridiction." He looked at the dark road ahead of them wondering whether it'd make sense to go after Fenix. "The only way we could pay him back is if we catch Fenix alone." He shook his head. "I think we'd better come back with help and more weapons." He revved up the engine and turned the car. The wheels spun out on the dirt of the road. "Sorry to spoil your fun, Jack but we'll have some fun trying to get Letty across the border like this. Do you have your passport?" It was a ridiculous question.

Letty was pretty well out of it but she was present enough to hear Brian's explaination.
"Brother? I didn't know you had a brother," she stated looking from Brian to Jack as they continued their conversation.
"FBI Jurisdiction my ass, who do you think stationed my ass this far south?" she let out a long breath, frowning.

"What do you mean? Even the FBI thought you were dead. Are you telling me they knew you are alive and didn't tell me?" He looked at her in disbeleive.
"Your call, Letty. I'll be more than happy to hunt down whoever did this to you." Of course Brian hadn't come without any weapons or amo. It just felt like a lost cause already considering there was only two of them.

Letty tried to move but it hurt too much to even consider trying.
"They thought I was dead too did they? Next time they should actually confirm when one of their informants go missing..." she stated matter of fact reality sinking in that the FBI had left her for dead.
"Your call Let I'll be more than happy to hunt down whoever did this to you," Letty smiled at how Loyal a friend Brian was; he had come all the way to Mexico looking for a dead woman.
"Bri I really would like to give them a piece of my mind, but right now what I really want is to go home."

With a nod he gave her a sympathyzing smile. He squeezed her shoulder and said. "Good call, Letty. I think that's a good idea. Don't worry they won#t get away with what they pulled!"
His foot on the clutch and hand on the stick he shifted up and sped down the road towards the US border. It was already pitchblack when the saw the lights from a distance.
"So do you have a passport?" Brian shook his snoozing friend.

Letty was drowsy and confused, and what Brian was asking her was making absoultely no sense at the moment.
"Passport?" she asked looking over at him. "I did when I got down here, I have no idea where it is now." she answered, sure that it was still with Braga if they hadn't disposed of all the evidence already.

"Shit." brian muttered and looked at Jack. "looks like you might get some thrill after all. I think we have to cross the border somewhere else. Braga probably has men on the payroll here. So it would be better not to let them know that Letty is still alive." He did an illegal U-Turn, one of his specialities and drove away from the border just to turn into a dirt road 10 minutes down the road. After a very bumpy 30 minute drive they found a dried out river bed leading north. "This could work."
