Walter leaned over the side of the banister taking deep swigs of the dark Guinness draft stopping every so often for a breath his five o'clock shadow was coming in strong and he wiped the stout foam from his up lip with the palm of his right hand. The wind caught his unbuttoned white short sleeved shirt and whipped it up revealing his bare chest now dried along with his tan swim trunks. He kicked some sand from his flip flops and began to eye several of the scantily clad women that walked by gaving a cute blond one a wink. Her and her dark skinned friend shared a laugh and twirl sizing him up and down, as they made their way down the pier he laughed to himself and checked for any missed messages on his phone. Of course there would be none, no one except Allocca and his chain of command knew where he was or the fact he was stateside. He smirked as he closed the phone and finished off the drink. The sun was hot and he lowered the brim of his cap before moving back inside and ordering a soda to go.
Minutes later he was walking back down the pier heading off into the down town area, he had a bit of a walk to the garage that had his car on lock down while he was gone, a matte black Dodge Viper GTS Venom fully loaded and built like a stripper, deadly curves and always costs a pretty penny for a ride. He finished his Coke and dropped the plastic glass off in a nearby trash can. It felt good to be back in the U.S. and he wondered what his high school buds where up to, he would have to hit up more then just one but right now he wanted to see what was going on around town.
As he got farther from the pier he heard screeching as a blue SRT 4 rounded a corner drifting in close to the turn followed shortly by a 69 lifted Camaro. The two cars shot by him at breakneck speeds and after a brief minute several police cars were in tow. "During broad daylight, freaking stupid." He said shaking his head and continuing on his walk. Truth me told he liked to race himself but that would be when the sun was down and in a less crowded area, the beach scene would only cause trouble during the day and probably a street pancake or two if someone wasn't paying attention or just couldn't get out of the way. He shivered in thought as a memory of a Humvee and a poor pig headed terrorist entered his head.
He shook the thought out and stepped to the guard house of the lock down garage. "Parking spot 12F, here is my ID." He produced the military ID, ironically the only part of him that truly screamed military. The guard passed him a key and pointed him to where he would need to go. Walter walked briskly to the spot and saw the outline beneath the dust protector. He flapped back the cloth quickly and revealed the car nearly as clean as it was the day he got it. "Pretty Toy." He mouthed and opened the door.
Wordlessly and silently he entered the car and closed the door. He started the ignition and pressed play on the C.D. "When I saw her at the party I knew she was different from the rest but I didn't hear her talking cause I was staring at her chest." SR71 played through the stereo loudly. "God I missed you." He said to himself and patted the dash before rolling down the exit ramp, he gave the guard a salute before pulling out into the freeway heading out of beach and uptown.

Nora Vitetta was sitting on the beach, staring out into the fading sunlight. Her blonde hair was down and wavy and she was clad in a pink bikini and daisy duke shorts. This was her first night back in LA. Her plane had touched down earlier that morning. She had went to her hosue and put away the few things she had brought and had then decided to head to the beach. After all, that was one of the main attractions of LA, wasn't it? Where all civilians went on a daily basis? Well, Nora wasn't a civilian, but the people surrounding her didn't know that.
Quite a few hours before, Nora had changed into her outfit and left base in her white Jeep. She had driven along the boardwalk for an hour just to see the sights. It had been awhile since she'd been in LA. Her past year had been spent overseas in the Middle East killing Iraqis and doing tactical missions with her special operations unit. Memories flashed beyond her minds eye now as she sat there. Other members in her unit dying, making expert shots, charging into a building without any knowledge of what was inside, etc.
Nora had been sitting there for the last two hours, and people had began to approach her and ask her if she was alright. Nora simply smiled and said she was fine. They were all civilians; they wouldn't ever be able to understand. It had taken Nora a while to accept that fact. The fact that she was no longer a civilian and never could be again. Not after what she had seen and what she had experienced. She sighed and looked around. Perhaps it was time for her to leave. She sat back on her elbows and continued to watch the sunset.
"Just a few more minutes, Nor."

Walter decided at the last bit he really didn't want to be heading out the beach scene yet, too early. He saw the red light turn green in front of him and just before he reached it he dumped the clutch and pulled his E-break then slammed the gas down as he made a sharp left. The tires screeched loudly as it struggled for grip before it tore off back towards the beach. He smiled lightly as he passed the SRT and Camaro with ease and peeled out along the beach before stopping at the red light before the parking lot.
Kav checked his mirror's for any flashing lights then moved slowly into the lot grabbing a ticket from the machine and parked. He stepped from the vehicle and smiled as two girls roller bladed by him, "Wish they all could be California girls." He half sung and walked across the street to the sand, his eyes looking around for the nearest place to get a cold one.
His eyes didn't quite make it that far, instead the stopped on the back of a very beautiful blond. He walked towards her from behind and caught her saying somthing. "Well, Nor. You know talking to yourself is never a good sign." He smiled and stopped next to her staring in the same direction she was. "Waiting for somone?" He tilted his head down towards her with a broad smile and crossed his arms over his chest.

Nora had been revisiting the memories inside her head, so when someone spoke to her, she nearly jumped. She sat up and tensed her muscles. She didn't know this guy. Sure, he was cute, but she had learned the hard way that you didn't judge a book by it's cover. One minute he's all smiles and jokes, and the next you're on the ground with a knife in your chest. But Nora went along with it because he looked like she did: military.
"Waiting for someone? No." Nora smirked and shook her head. "The last time I waited for someone, turns out a hadji missle blew him up."
She smiled half-heartedly. That had been a couple months ago back in Iraq. She had been at a comman post, waiting for one of her comrades. When he never showed, the team went out to find him, figuring he was going AWOL. Her comrade and the convoy he had been travelling with were blown to smitherines by an invading Iraqi force. Nora hadn't known him very well, so she wasn't that sad about it.
"Nora Vitetta, US Army Special Forces," she said to the stranger, extending her hand. For further proof, she pulled out her dog tags which had her name among other things on it.
Nora smiled. "Hmm...you like like Navy. Or Marine Corps?" She'd always had a knack for guessing what branch of the military someone was from, and she had rarely been wrong. It was something that she had picked up from her father. That, and her love for the military. Her whole family had been military. Her father was a commanding officer for the Army, her mother was a nurse on Navy carrier, and all of her grandparents had been military.
So it was only custom that the youngest Vitetta picked up the reins and took control of the "family business". But just because it was custom for a Vitetta to be in the military didn't mean that she wasn't scared. The shit that she saw scared her more and more everytime, and she knew that after this year leave was up, it was going to be difficult for her to go back for another tour. But Nora also had a duty to her country, so she would force herself to go back.

"You know for being spec ops, you shouldn't be so open with it. Even on american soil. Op-sec 101." He smiled and looked up and down the beach to make sure no one was withen ear shot, "Thankfully I'm one of the good eyes." He looked back at her and the sleeve on his shirt flaired slightly showing the red SEAL tattoo that designated him of the once publicized ST-6. "Name's Walter. Vitetta...You had a relative on the carrier that went down not too long back?" He said furrowing his brow, "We just go back from dealing with the pricks that sank it..." He said a sick grin pricking at the side of his lips as the memory of the vegence mission he just got back from.
He pushed the feelings and memories aside. "I'm sorry that happened. We got our intel just short of the attack or we would have scrubbed the area before they even were in range." He shook his head. "Mind if I have a seat?

Nora smirked. She didn't tell just anyone that she was spec ops. But she knew that he was military, so she had no trouble telling him. Her guess had been right on. Although, she hadn't guessed he was SEALS. But now that she studied him, she knew it was the truth. The tattoo was her first clue. Nora nodded her head. So they were in the same league, just different branches.
Nora frowned at his mention of the aircraft carrier. "Yeah...It was my mom." She shrugged. But she smiled when he said that they had been on a mission to take them out. Being that Nora was in the Army and not the Navy, she couldn't go anywhere near the aircraft carrier or the area around it. She pleaded to get a transfer, but they wouldn't allow it.
The most they gave her was word of what they were doing in the missions and what was going on over there. But Nora knew they hadn't told her everything. Most of the missions had been confidential, and she didn't have a high enough level of clearance to get to the files. So she was stuck over in Iraq with basically no knowledge of what was going on.
Nora smiled lightly. "There's no need to apologize. You guys did what you could." She shrugged and sat down, nodding when he asked if he could take a seat.
"But at least you could take care of the sons a bitches that did it. I was stuck over in Iraq doing patrol missions. I wasn't the only one that had family on that ship. There were two other guys in my squad that were trying to get a piece of the action where you were. We tried everything; even a transfer. All it got us was a nice little visit with the President explaining why we couldn't go over there. Complete bullshit," she said, sighing.
The memory was not pleasant. Her and two of her comrades had just been trying to get a transfer or an honorable leave so that they could go themselves, but they'd all been denied. But they continued to insist. This went on for months before the officer above Nora in rank finally shipped them up to where the American president was at the time. He kindly explained that they were not allowed to transfer because they would become emotionally involved. Nora knew it was bullshit, but she had gotten direct orders from the President, so she finally gave up.
"But sob story aside...how long you back for, Walter?"

"Don't worry about the mission, not even Delta got action on it. Only the best of the best were able to go. S.A.S gave us a ride in and we had to swim out. As for my leave. Eh, not sure. I got transfered to DevGru a bit back and they got something cooking up for me. Dunno what." He smiled. "Stand by to stand by." He looked down at her, "You look like we need a drink," He reached out his hand to help her up.
"Don't worry, I don't bite. Unless you want me to." His smile moved to reach ear to ear. "I never caught your rank, Mrs. Vitetta."

Nora laughed and accepted Walter's hand. "I do think a drink is in order. I just got back earlier today and haven't had a lick of alcohol in over a year." She smiled and began walking towards the parking lot. When he asked for her rank, she paused.
"Sergeant. I command my unit." She nodded her head. "I enlisted straight out of high school, so I'm not an officer. Obviously...so, what's your rank, soldier?"
Nora chuckled. This guy was pretty cute and he was funny. And she also liked that he was military. Maybe things could actually turn out to be good. Maybe this year leave wasn't such a bad thing to accept after all. She had been reluctant to take the leave because she was worried that she was going to get too adjusted to civilian life and then she wouldn't want to return to Iraq.

"Well Sarge, I was L.T. Commander in the Navy, now I'm under the G paygrades. Got to love the government side of pay, never realized suits got so much money." He chuckled and followed her, he had to admit he was having a hard time keeping his eyes above her waist and quickly covered ground so he was standing next to her.
"Well, I know a couple bars around the bend from here." He smiled and held up his keys, the black Viper chirped in the lot unlocking itself. He stepped his pace up a bit and lead the way to his car opening the door for her.
"Sorry, I'm a bit rusty at this. Been a few years since I've actually associated myself with anyone that wasn't trying to kill me or for me." He shoved the gear on the seat into the back and quickly slipped his combat knife into the glove compartment next to the hidden NOS activation button. Kav stepped around to the driver side and leaned against the roof smiling at her.

Nora studied his car. "Nice car. What engine do you have in her?"
Most people were surprised to find that Nora not only knew her way around a gun, but a car, too. She was a two for one, as her father used to say. She smiled and slid into the seat of the Viper. "I know what you mean. I haven't dated in a while, either. Too busy keeping watch over my boys," she said, laughing. By boys she meant her unit, of course.
"But looks like I'm gonna have to put myself out on the market again. I'm on a year leave with absolutely nothing to do." She laughed and ran her hand through her hair.

He laughed, "Am I that see through?" He shook his head and dodged into the seat next to her. Kav shifted into gear and slid the car slowly and silently towards the gate. He slid his card into machine, only a buck something for the short time. He smirked and waited for the gate to open. "A girl that knows cars. I like that. Hennessy V-12, custom built engine. Lighter frame and lower wheel base, makes it faster on drags and can take turns sharper then a ka-bar. And drops the hammer like Thor..." He said and shifted it into first slamming the pedal down, the tires found grip fast and they darted out between two cars and cruised the four miles in under a minute blowing past the SRT and Camaro again. He let loose a chuckle and slowed down in front of the boardwalk to mae the left turn into the parking garage he had just left hardly an hour earlier. The gaurd smiled and waved them both in.
Walter stopped the Viper in it's spot right next to his Mustang and shut it down after letting it's idle return to normal. "Quarter mile in 5.4 sec's flat. Had it built in Dubai about three years ago." He smiled and popped the hood. "Want to take a look?" He flipped a switch next to the lever and the sides of the hood lit up with crimson LEDs.

Nora laughed. It had been a while since she'd last been in a car so fast. She loved it, and was hardly surprised when they were pulling on base less than five minutes later. She hopped out of the car and walked around to the front. She admired the engine.
"Breathtaking." She wasn't really sure what to say, and that word seemed to be the first one that popped into her head.

Walter flipped another switch that raised the hood on hydrolic pistons giving a full view of the matte black engine. The crimson lights raced over the engine in a set pattern showing every part of the compartment. The engine was as clean as the inside, the engine was clearly custom made and the maker's mark was indented and platinum plated.
"And if you think that is beautiful," He said and turned around facing the covered mustang, he grabbed that sheet and ripped it off showing the prestine metalic paint of a '69 fastback. "The pride of my life and probably can pace the Viper..." He smiled and looked around the rolling classic inspecting it. "I've put more money into this baby then into what the military puts into my gear..." He ran a hand over the hood and the massive blower in the middle.

Nora smiled appreciatively. They were both nice cars. She only wished that she could afford one of her own. "Yeah, I don't get paid enough to afford one. But it's my dream to one day have '71 Chevelle with a custom paint job. I don't care what she runs, as long as I can go cruising."
She chuckled. Of course she cared what it ran, but he didn't need to know that. She sighed and crossed her arms. "So let's get to those drinks, shall we?" Nora smiled and turned to leave.

Kav smiled and covered the Mustang back up then dropped the hood back down on the engine. He secured the car and followed. "You know, if your planning on getting back in the game. You have to treat a date like a person." He chuckled and caught up with her. "Walking away doesn't work too good." He laughed. "So special operations group, been a while since I've seen a female commando. You know they got a female Delta up and running?" He smiled and tried to get her to open up a bit more. He walked side by side with her as they moved closer to the bar.
The mid-day sun was starting to warm up the beachside base and the passed the roto-crew who gave him a brief salute which he returned using the ball cap as his guide. When they were out of ear shot he turned towards her. "I hate that, to hell with Navy customs..." He adjusted his shirt and double checked his wallet for how much cash he had.

Nora half-smirked at Walter. Neither were just ordinary people, and she knew it. "Well I'm awful thirsty, though." She laughed.
When they passed by the roto-crew, she didn't even glance at them. The Army and Navy weren't exactly the closest of military groups. Not that she disrespected them. She respected any branch of the armed forces, no matter what she thought of them. She turned to face Walter while walking backwards.
"I have no interest in Delta." Nora laughed. "I'm just fine where I'm at. Besides, I like it."

"That's cool. Glad you found a place for your head." He held open the door for her and looked around, he was glad it was early afternoon most people were still busy so they wouldn't be hassled. He stepped up and pulled two bar stools out for them then took his seat. "So what do you want?"

Nora sat down and sighed. She pursed her lips. "Beer, please."
She smiled and faced Walter. "So, who's the lucky girl?" She had just instantly assumed that a guy that looked and acted like Walter would have a girlfriend. There weren't too many guys left like him in the world. Most were assholes who didn't give a fuck if they hurt your feelings or not. She felt that maybe Walter was different.

Instantly Walters eyes fell to the tan line where he used to wear his wedding ring. "Eh, de...things didn't work out," He quickly covered up, "Guiness stout and a bud light." He said at the bartender and looked back at Nora, "You got someone out here?" He smiled brightly trying to hide the edge of a dark memory that was rising up. She was a nice girl and a looker too be a cryogenic shame if someone passed that combo up.

Nora noticed him glance at his ring finger, but she stayed silent. She would let him tell her on his own time. She had never liked to pursue other people's sore subjects, and she felt this was one of them. She took a drink of her beer and smiled at Walter.
"Nope, sorry." She smirked. "No guy wants to be a military husband. They're all too worried that I could take them down."
Nora laughed, sure that Walter understood.
