Daniel stood with his arms folded over his chest, leaning against his out of place BMW for this part of the city, dark shades covering his eyes against the harsh sun. He didn't have to worry about cops seeing his face here. No cop ever dared to come out this far in to Echo Park if they wanted to see another day. It was like an unwritten rule and yet it didn't apply to him. For many people here, he had kept a brother or maybe a son out of jail, a mother from being deported right back out of the country, either way, without him this neighborhood would hold a lot less residents and they knew it. It was what gave him his respect and a free card to walk around like he owned the place despite his badge. Right now though, he had kept that at home. He wasn't here for FBI business, he was here for the other end of it. Narcs were planning something and he needed this place cleaned out from any evidence that there ever was an 'office' here, keep it from leading back to the wrong places and people.
He pushed his sunglasses down to the tip of his nose when he spotted the man he was waiting for, a whistle following to attract attention and a motion of his hand calling the guy over. The man approaching him knew better than to ask questions which was something Daniel appreciated as he himself came straight to business. There was no reason for him to stay here any longer than was absolutely necessary.
"You need to pack your shit up and move it. I don't care how you do it." A click of the safety being removed from his Beretta could be heard before the muzzle was placed against the man's cheek. "Just as long as you do it and nothing gets lost in the process. Do we understand each other?"
The man only hastily nodded, a friendly smile spreading on Daniel's face while he thumbed the safety back on. The 9mm disappeared back in it's holster, being covered by his jacket again soon after while his hand patted the youngster's cheek. "Good boy."

The beat up Dodge rolled around the corner of the block. It didn't catch anybody's attention because it was the kind of car you would spot around here. And that was exactly the driver's intention who had picked it up at the FBI impound lot only 30 minutes earlier. He didn't want to cause any nosy stares wth his own imported, flash Nissan. Blue eyes stared out at a house not too far away. It was one of the 4 known properties of Carter Verone, that the FBI had found out about through undercover work. Of course the run down places where neither his home nor in his name but he still had people working for him there. The agent's expression froze when he spotted his so called partner in front of the house petting a guy on the cheek. Carefully he watched his every move from down the street.
When Shaw got in his car he followed him out of the area. Brian needed to find out what was going on. At the next set of lights, he got out of the car, opened Daniels door and pushed the steel of his gun right in his face. "You better come up with a good explanation what you're doing here within the next ten seconds!" His voice was low and cold.

With an almost bored expression, Daniel looked at O'Conner, the gun pointed between his eyes doing nothing to alter the expression nor did the threatening words. He had already known he was being tailed, the blonde was as subtle as a steamroller when it came to that, or maybe Daniel just wasn't easily fooled these days.
"Easy there, tiger. You might wanna point that thing at the bad guys instead of me." His own voice was calm and collected compared to O'Conner's, an annoyed smile spreading on his face while he easily pushed the barrel away from his forehead. "Wouldn't look good on your record if you shot your own partner right on the streets. Kinda hard to make it look like an accident with all these witnesses around, too."

"You know what? When it comes to my own safety I really don't care." He put the gun on top of the car and growled. "So fucking answer my question, partner." He spat the words out in disgust. "What are you doing here?" Something about Daniel had seemed off from the moment he met him. Brian had blamed him on the parking incident but it really wasn't that. Daniel was a loner, undercover, hardcore. Usually these kind of guys had some kind of dirt on themselves as well. Just like Brian did. If it came to Verone Brian needed to be extra careful though and didn't take any chance whatsoever. His stare was still fixed on the man. No blinking, no move.

Daniel turned away, a small scowl on his face as he forcefully turned the keys in the ignition to kill the engine. He was getting out of the car a second later, forcing the other man to take a step or two back as he got in his face. Playing twenty questions was not what he was in the mood for, especially not with the unwanted and now nosy partner. "You wanna know what I'm doing here, O'Conner? I'm doing my fucking job, that's what I'm doing here." He grabbed the gun from the roof of his car, ejected it's mag and pulled the slide back, popping out the bullet from the chamber before he shoved it back against the blonde's chest, quirking one corner of his mouth up in a smirk. "For your own precious safety and more importantly, mine." The smirk dropped, the scowl returning as he now pressed the muzzle of his own Beretta against Brian's cheek. "And if you ever put your gun in my face again, I'll make you eat that bullet and every single one left in your mag, understand?"

"You don't scare me, Daniel." Brian answered plainly, gave him a cold smile and then stared at him for a moment. He bent down and retrieved the chamber and two bulletts facing the Beretta again as if it was a toy gun. "What were you doing here and why didn't you inform me?" Brian didn't quite buy that this was part of their assignment.

Daniel finally holstered his 9mm once more while he raised his eyebrows at the blonde, a quasi confused expression forming on his face. "Shit. Did you just say I have to inform you on everything I do? You wanna know when I take a piss, too?"
A laugh escaped him while he shook his head dismissively. This was ridiculous. He needed to get O'Conner off his back, needed him to stop asking questions. Intimidation didn't seem to work, at least not this time, a bullet was out of the question for the obvious reasons, which left him with the truth. A version of it anyway.
"I am here for the job. Never heard of the phrase 'Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer'? The punk is a snitch. He rats out his own fucking people to keep his sorry family off of federal immigration's radar and from being deported right out of the country." His voice turned colder as he spoke, only the smile on his face countering it while he shrugged. "Quid pro quo, right? Nothing in this world comes for free."

The words coming out of his mouth did make sense. he was a cop after all. For a moment longer Brian stared at him, then shoved his own gun in the back of his pants and pulled his shirt over top of it. Through gritted teeth he said. "If you're lying to me I'll have your ass. I don#t care about the law. I do care about my family." He pointed his finger right in his partners face. "If I find out that you have anything to do with Verone or are tipping him off I'll fuck you up. Cop or not!" Daniel hadn't informed him and what he had just told Brian could or could not be the truth. brian would definetly have his eyes and ears open.

Daniel's eyes turned cold. He wasn't impressed by the threats, he tended to receive them almost on a daily basis, but that fucking finger being shoved in his face by this pain in the ass did nothing for his already lacking good mood. His hand reached up, grabbing a hold of the other man's wrist while a feigned smirk flashed over his face.
"And if I ever find you crawling up my ass again. I'll fuck you up. Sounds fair don't it?" He growled before he pushed the wrist down and released it. "Now that we have both exchanged our pleasantries, you mind getting the fuck out of my face so I can get on with my day, partner?"

Brian raised his chin. Obviously Daniel enjoyed his company just as much as Brian enjoyed the other man's. "In fact I do mind. You better start informing me of this stuff before you do it, partner. Otherwise it looks just like you're siding with the enemy." he gave him a wink out of cold eyes. Brian wasn't serious but he started to enjoy pissing this motherf**er on his high horse off. It seemed like Jack's big mouth was starting to rubb off on him.

The expression washing over Daniel's face next showed nothing but amusement toward the blonde. The man was like a dog with a bone, unwilling to let go, his comments nothing but a weak effort to rub him the wrong way. It was endearing. Almost.
"I'll inform you when I start giving a shit on what something looks like." He mirrored the blonde's sarcastic wink, his hand roughly patting the man's cheek while the corner of his mouth quirked up in a half smirk. "Nice try, though, O'Conner."
The smile drained from his features the moment he turned around toward his car. Enough time and words had been wasted here and as far as he was concerned, O'Conner could believe whatever he wanted. The do-gooder pain in the ass posed no threat in his book.

Brian hated the fact that Daniel didn't seem threatened at all. Either he was as squeeky clean and cynical as he made out to be or he was a damn cool bastard. For a moment brian wondered whether that was actually an option. Was Daniel a foul egg in the rows of the FBI? Was he really working undercover in this neighbourhood or was he really doing his undercover stint at the FBI when in fact he was part of this neighbourhood?
Brian slapped his flat hand on the roof. "Drive safely. You never know in this neighbourhood."
With a frown on his face he got back in his car and shot the guy honking at him an angry glare. He didn't like the fact that either Daniel was a loner, who couldn't give a flying fuck about working together on HIS case. Absentmindedly he drove back to the run down house with graffitti all over its front to see whether he could spot the guy Daniel had been talking to.
