"Oh darn," Angel teased as she wiped her hands off, "The brake system is fixed, I'd check it over before returning it to the owner, sorry it took so long, I am not the best at brakes and all."
She picked up the remainder of the tools and dropped them in the toolbox, "Anything I can do for you tonight? I mean I can take you home seeing as you walked here, I love this place but the creeps come out at night," she took the bills from him and folded them before sliding them in to the front pocket of her jeans, "Thanks again Brian for giving me a chance to work for you today. Same time tomorrow?" Angel asked hopefully.

"I'll check it tomorrow morning before I call the owner."
When Diablo asked what else she could do for him tonight Brian's mind immediately jumped to a whole different kind of offer and he blushed but when he heard what the woman actually had in mind he grinned. "Sorry, for a moment my mind went crazy...I'll take the bus. I live pretty far away from here. I don't think Echo Park is on your way home. Plus the creeps are afraid of me." He joked.

Angel laughed and patted his shoulder, "Sorry to tell you this Brian, but your not my type anyways," She shook her head, "Nope I'm taking you home," she said in her Diablo 'ask no questions' voice, "The creeps might be afraid of you, but I ain't got anything to go home to except an engine. So that extra driving won't really bug me at all."
She looked at him nudging him towards the open door, "That and my driving is faster and free," Angel wasn't worried about driving other racers around, she could tell the ones that wouldn't be able to handle someone else behind the wheel and Brian wasn't one of them.

"Okay, stop pushing. I'm coming." He chuckled. In front of the door he admired her car for a moment. It reminded him of better times when he still had his Skyline. "Yeah, nice one, I used to have a good car as well." Angels face clearly lit up when she slipped behind the wheel so Brian lowered himself into the passenger seat. "Does this have one of your engines?"

"It's got my wings on it doesn't it? Sorry that was a rhetorical question... Yeah this has one of my engines in it. Basically it's a sure bet if the car has angel wings, it's got one of my engines in it, the wings are my signature these days. I used to sign the cars, but that didn't end well," Angel said turning the key in the ignition settling in as her engine started up with a almost silent purr.
She glanced at Brian as she pulled her harness on, "I'd buckle up if I were you... So co-pilot where am I dropping you off?"
Angel was curious as to what car Brian had before what ever it was that he had now, but she didn't ask, some racers mourned the loss of their cars.

Pulling the belts over his shoulders he listened to the purr of the engine. "Like a big cat." he grinned. "Echo Park, East Kensington Road. Do you know where that is?" Brian let his gaze wander around the dashboard and then further back. The shiny, well maintained inside made him miss his Nissan even more. It was time to get a new one. "Where do you live? How far is my place out of your way?"

Angel laughed softly, "Yeah this baby roars too," she said as she nodded and backed out tires spinning on the pavement before she tore down the road, drifting the curves as she headed towards the highway to cut over to his house, "Basically know where I am going, I can get to Echo Park, but you'll have to direct me from there."
She glanced at him as she shifted, her engine purring into a roar as she slammed the accelerator and slipped around an 18 wheeler, Angel had never been happy driving around the hulking vehicles that blocked her view of everything.
"I live in the apartments about 20 mins farther out then you, well further... but I'm not a good judge of time when I fly down these at, at least 120 mph given there are enough holes through the traffic," Angel said as she ran through the gaps in traffic flying past an expensive sports car in the fast lane, "Are you... you are... Stupid rich boys and their toys," she grumbled as the car flicked his high beams at her, tapping the breaks lightly she slowed enough for him to get in line with her, "Don't mind me Brian... I'm gonna stomp some ass now," she said grinning, Diablo slipping into place as excited malice left her almost to the point of giggling.
A few gaps later the sports car was no where to be found and she drifted the entire exit ramp to Echo Park, "As an answer to your question I never answered, I live in the apartments downtown a bit farther in then Echo Park."

Angel had Brian grip his seat tightly a few times. He soon found out that she knew what she was doing and wasn't just one of the many show-offs he had met along the way. Nevertheless he held his breath when she drifted down the ramp. "Just one more question: How many times have you had your drivers license revoked? I think you broke ever existing traffic law within the first 10 minutes! And I know what I'm talking about."

Angel let out a laugh, "Never actually," she said grinning very cat-ishly, "This baby can get up in the 200's which I have done before, ignoring the fact I won't be trying to do it again any time soon. But to be honest, I've been boosting, moding, drifting, dragging, and trick driving long enough I can get through traffic faster then the cops can to bother with. Sure I've had them come to my garage to yell at me and I ended up doing a couple of engines for their under cover cars instead of a fine. Needless to say they know my car and when it gets out of control they send me an order for another few engines," she said shrugging, it kept her out of trouble and helped the police keep the idiots off the road who couldn't drive.
She didn't know why she was comfortable talking to Brian like this, after he basically said he used to be a cop, hell he read like a cop. Most of the time her answer was simply, 'You can't catch a demon like me.'

Brian grinned. "That's how cops work." He shook his head thinking for a moment whether it was a good or a bad thing. "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me and I have no intentions to go back...then again I've said that more than once before and the force magically managed to draw me in." He watched the little shops and houses fly by. "You shouldn't mod their cars for them, makes it easier for them to catch us when they bust us. Left here."

Angel nodded and did a quick turn, she loved driving like this, the speed that spike of adrenaline as she cut the corners and ripped the e-brake her back end straightening out to let her drive straight once more.
She snorted at his last comment, "You actually think the engines I build for them are the best I can build them to be? I'm not stupid Brian, I know when you play both sides of the field you always need to favor the side you live on. Plus anyway, the engines I make for the under cover car are most of the time break the chassis of car before they can do too much time. I'm sorry but cops don't know how to use the kind of engines I build. Racers know better then to stomp the gas pedal on an engine designed by me."

"If you ever run out of possibilities you can always go undercover yourself." he laughed. His hand reached for the dashboard as he tried not to get tossed around like salad in a bowl. "You're giving me goosebumps, Missy. In chase you drive me on Thursday you have to drink less coffee before!" Secretly he wondered how many guys could stomache a girl who drive like her. "Do you have a boyfriend?"

Angel snorted, "Nope, Diablo doesn't do the undercover work," she said as she giggled softly, "Um... I haven't had any coffee today, I um... well racing as Diablo makes me kind of giggly evil like."
She glanced at him as she slowed down, "No," she said shortly, the last one she had turned into a stalker and the cops didn't want to deal with that so she had packed up everything she had and left.
Angel bit her lip and shifted in her seat, "Sorry if my driving is a little intense for you... My sister and I are the kind of people that like the rush that never ends... This helps."

"Are you kidding? You're kidding right? You gotta be kidding! No driving is EVER too intense for me." He snorted in a mock way even though Angels style of driving was on the verge of unbearable as long as it was somebody else but himself behind the wheel.
"Right and right again at that little corner store." When they neared home his mood darkened. What would Mia and him talk about tonight...if the did talk.

Angel followed his instructions, "Brian you were white knuckling the passenger seat," she teased, "I thought you could handle it, I mean if you can't it's all good, you wouldn't be the first guy to openly refuse to let me drive."
She glanced at him quickly, the bubbly rush of adrenaline slowing to a screeching halt, he looked upset almost to the point of brooding.
"Hey you sure your okay? I mean if there trouble in the home there's trouble on the heart, and troubles on the heart are only fixed with alcohol and talking about nothing until you feel better," Angel said having a lot of experience with trouble in her home life when there was someone in her life other then an ice cold engine block.

"I'm not whiteknuckling nothing." He complained. "Just have to get used to a chick being so aggressive behind the wheel."
When she noticed his change in attitude he looked over at her for a long moment. Why did she know? And why did he feel like he could talk to her? "You read me like a book, don't you?" He hadn't decided whether it was a good idea to go drinking. "It's all good, I'll go for a beer with you another day, okay? I just want to go and see my son...and wife. Thanks for the ride." He offered her a smile before he got out.

Angel nodded for a moment, "I'm holding you to that," she said smiling at her boss warmly, "Hey if you need to talk sometime, just let me know alright? I'm a good listener and I try to help people who want it."
She pulled back with a soft smile, she hoped everything would be alright with him. Angel enjoyed his company as a friend and it wasn't as if she was interested in him, it was just that she needed someone to talk to. It wasn't as if Diablo had friends outside of her customers.

"Alright, deal!" Brian clapped his hand on top of her roof. "Appreciate the offer, Angel. Have a good night now and drive safely." He turned around, took a deep breath and walked up to the door of the Fort. While he was unlocking he threw a quick glance back and waved to Angel. Then he stepped inside his home hoping Mia was in better humor.

Angel waited until he was inside his house before she sped off heading back to her apartment for the night.
~Next Day~
Angel slipped out of bed and sighed softly, head throbbing slightly for seemingly no reason at all. She moved herself into the bathroom and took a hot shower, the headache dissipating under the heat. Drying off she twisted and curled her long wet hair up into a bun, pulling the end through the center so she didn't need a hair tie until it was dry.
After wiping the steam from the mirror she looked at herself, today was going to one of those day when she didn't know why she was doing this anymore. Taking a deep breath she shook the dark thoughts from her mind and dragged the Diablo person out, the confidence laying over her forcing the depression away.
"Time to work," she said nodding to herself before getting dressed and heading out to door, she knew she was running a little late, but that would be fixed by the time she got in her car.
Frowning Angel noticed a present under her car, the black wrapping paper covering a box, there was a note attached to the top. 'I missed you.' Shaking her head she slipped the package under another car with her foot, someone else could deal with the mystery presents.
Slipping into her car she sped off down the road her body moving to the beat of the CD's in her car, the sound system sufficient enough to vibrate the windows as she drove to the garage.

The windows were nowhere soundproof enough for what the speakers were putting out. Lifting his head from the counter he'd been resting it on he looked up as if he could see anything through the tiny gap in the door. It was way too early and Brian just wanted to go back to bed. He propped his head up on his hands, elbows on the counter and waited for whoever like really loud music early in the morning. When he recognized the curvy woman against the bright sunlight shining in behind her he stood up. "Morning." Brian straightened out his hair with his hands and pulled down his t-shirt, which was half in and half out of his shorts. The garage had no air conditioning and even though it was still cool right now, the owner knew it would get hot and humid during the day.
