It was late in the afternoon with sun already low behind a group of trees out of the window, which turned the room orange. Brian was exhausted, mentally as well as physically from what had happened earlier in the court room and was knocking on Mira's door with his tie hanging loosely around his neck and a few blood stains from Walter, whose blood had splattered a few people in the closer vicinity, on his shirt. leaning his elbow on the door frame he knocked again and called out. "Mira, open up. It's me." Brian didn't know why she hadn't shown up but assumed that it was to prevent additional stress just before the birth. They had talked about that earlier and the ex-cop had suggested she should stay home rather than give birth in the court room. With the shooting he was glad Mira hadn't set foot in that building.

Had Brian checked his phone in the last four hours, he would have known that Mira was in the hospital. Giving birth to the twins. Her father was already there but Mira prayed to god Brian would get his ass to the hospital quick because she had some choice words for him. She held her dad's hand tightly as she experenced another contraction. " Dad can you please call Brian again?"

Hobbs didn't get nervous very often, but today he was borderline chewing his fingernails. His baby girl was about to have not one, but two kids. Oh god.
Hobbs grumbled a little when she mentioned Brian again. The guy may have proved him wrong, but he still didn't particularly like the ex-cop. Nonetheless, he fumbled around for his phone, he was the baby daddy, he needed to be here.
As he was about to punch in O'Conner's number, he heard a knock and then a familiar voice trying to get through the door. "What do ya know, douchehead made it." He further grumbled and made his way to the door, grabbing the handle and yanking it open.

How fast can a guys heart beat because of excitement and nervousness. 190? More? Brian's definetly reach that peak while he was running down the hallway off the hospital. Every few meters he had to ask somebody for the way until a big door with a bell stopped him and forced him to take a deep breath. After what seemed forever a nurse opened the door and ask him what he wanted. "Mira Hobbs, my girlfriend is having our babies here." He huffed completely out of breath. The nurse waved him in and showed him the way. Before she let him knock she told him. "Calm down. This can take another 10 hours." "What?" Brian asked confused but then knocked anyway. Behind the door a big guy blocked the way in. As to be expected Mira's father was with her and Brian wasn't exactly happy to see the man, who had tracked him down and finally put the cuffs on him, again. So he ignored him and went right to Mira. She was a bit pale and didn't look very happy but seemed otherwise okay. Brian reached for her hand and then kissed her. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't here earlier. You would not believe what happened at the trial." Seeing that she wasn't in the mood for a long story he just offered her a smile. "Is this it...are they coming?" He kissed her again anxiously waiting to find out whether this was the real deal.

To say Mira was happy to see Brian there was a huge understatement. Part of her thought he would never show. Holding his hand she smiled slightly. "Yes, they're on their way." She whinced alittle at another contraction. "I picked their names. Jason Lucas O'Conner and Laura Mariah O'Conner.... If they're okay with you." Her mismatched eyes met his blue ones. Her grip on his hand tightened a little. Their babies were on the way and they were in no way ready. Hell, she and Brian had hardly seen each other in the last few days. Plus neither of them had a job and both were staying at another's home. She sighed 'Well this is gonna be a rollercoaster'. "So what happened at the trial that I'll never believe?" She asked as she grit her teeth trew another contaction.

To hear that his kids were about to be born put Brian onto a whole new level of excitement. His pulse peaked within seconds and he could feel the blood ri=ush to his face. "ReallY? They are going to come....now?" He raised his brows looking at her flush face and simply embraced her, holding her tight and kissing her on her forehead. For a while he just held her until another contraction made her pull away. When his head cleared he a little he thought about the names she was suggesting and he simply agreed. "I like them." Then he placed his lips on hers and let them linger there for a moment before he pulled away. "You can do this. You're strong."

Mira smiled. "Well we have a few more hours before they are born." She let her head rest on Brian's shoulder and closed her eyes. "Unfortionately." After nine months of carrying the twins she was ready to hold them in her arms. She kissed his cheek at his comment. "Thanks." Looking up at him, she asked a very important question. "Who do we want as god parents? I mean who do we trust enough to take care of Jason and Mariah if something happened to us?" She held his hand a little tighter at that thought. Knowing the luck the two of them had they were bound to run into trouble sooner or later.

"A few hours? That long?" He already pitied Mira now because she'd be suffering for so long. Unfortunately she was right. The fact that they should have god parents was undeniable after what happened over the course of the past months. "I don't know. Most people I know aren't exactly saints." He really didn't know off the top of his head. "So let me tell you what happened today. I was sitting int the court room with my fucking lazy ass lawyer and guess who showed up out of the blue?" He quickly cast a glance at Hobbs who was standing near the door watching them out of the corner of his eye. "Dom. But it gets better or actually worse. Walter did show up and he had some evidence on him but he didn't even make it to the stand. The guy was gunned down in a US court room with the freaking file in his hand!" Brian took a deep breath and ran his hand over his face when he thought about the situation. "Dom and I checked on him in the hospital a little later and.." Again he noted her fathers presence. "he'll live."
He couldn't resist the temptation to turn to her father and raise his chin. "He delivered the evidence that I'm innocent, agent Hobbs." Brian knew Mira's father never thought Brian was innocent but now he would proof exactly that.

It took all Hobbs had in him to avoid scowling at Brian from the second he walked in the room, however, his tipping point had reached when Brian acted like he did. "Why do you think I let you go?" He stood up and strolled up to Brian. "You know how easy it would be for me to put you away for a long, long time? Watch the attitude." His eyes steely looked into Brian's.

Brian tried to ignore the man because of his girlfriend was in labor and now was definetly not the time or place to argue about this issue. Yet when he came at him he felt the need to defend himself. In a calm voice he asked. "What would you put me away for, sir? I'm innocent." Right now these words seemed more true than ever because for the longest time Brian felt guilty mostly because his recollection of that night was so vague.

"Will you two knock it off?! I'm so sick ofyour fighting . Stop it or get the fuck out!" Mira couldn't take their fighting anymore, it was driving her crazy that they could fight on such special day . Her mismatched eyes glared at the two men in the room.
~10 Hours later~
To say Mira was an understatement. She never wanted to give birth again, it was not a pleasent experence. But the sight of her and Brian's children in her dad and their dad's arms made it pretty worth it. A smile spread across her lips as she watched the babies. "They're finally here."

Over the course of the next 10 hours Brian tried to support Mira as much as he could by holding her hand, talking her through it, getting her water and food while his nerves were going down the drain quickly. Her fathers presence didn't help at first but Brian still decided to bring the man a coffee and sandwich as well as some sort of peace offer.
He told both Hobbs about the trial and the fact that Walter delivered the evidence and then got gunned down.
When his children were finally delivered he was on the verge of passing out because he couldn't handle the blood and screaming but when he was able to hold them for the first time the hardships and problems him and Mira had were forgotten. Holding his children for the first time was so overwhelming it brought happy tears to his eyes. Never had he pictured himself as a father but now it seemed like the most natural thing. At first he held them like a raw egg but the midwife helped him so he placed one on Miras chest and the other in his own arms. "Both are healthy but a little underweight." The midwife announced.
Miras face looked flushed when she took in her newborns. "What are we going to call them?" Brian, who was standing right next to her rubbing her shoulder, asked. "Your choice."

Mira pushed a few strands of her short white blonde out of her face. " Jason Lucas and Laura Mariah." She looked down at Jason in her arms and couldn't help smiling. " Its hard to beilve they are finally here." She trailed her fingure over Jason's cheek. Mira's smile started to fade and she looked at Brian " where are we gonna live?" That was kind of important and Mira hadn't given it on thought in the last few days.

his excitement was evident in his expression and he couldn't wipe the smile off his face and he was admiring the ten tiny little finger of each baby. "Everything is so small." He looked up at her when she announced the names and then down at his son and daughter to see whether they looked fitting. Since he liked both names he kissed Mira and nodded. "Great choice." He caressed the little hands, then took out his phone to snap a picture of the newborns and their mother.
"Don't worry about that, Mira. A friend found a great place for us. It's affordable and in a good neighborhood. I think you'll like it." He neglected to tell her that for now the place didn't have any baby furniture yet. "What about their last name? I mean I'd like them to have my name as well. Can they be called O'Conner-Hobbs?" This was a tricky subject because Brian and Mira weren't anywhere close to having the same last name.

It took all of those 10 delivery hours for the FBI agent to finally calm down his anger towards Brian enough to where he could act civilized. He held so much built up animosity towards the guy that he didn't even have to make a bad move to set him off. Brian's long explanation of the events though did make some sense to him, so admittedly Brian wasn't quite the &%#! Hobbs originally thought him as.
Nonetheless, the sight of newborns was always a tendering sight, even for him. And for at least the moment, he allowed himself to forget who the father was. "What a miracle." He said as he took Laura in his arms.

Mira was shocked to hear that Brian had found them a house. "R-Really? That is amazing." Knowing that she had a place to go home with Brian and the twins after the hospital stay was a huge relief. "If that's what you want their last name to be that is fine." She held Brian's hand and smiled. Thing s were finally looking up for them. Glancing over at her father she smiled even more, for once he didn't look angary. Today just kept getting better for them.

Brian was happy that she was okay with the kids having both of their last names. Embracing her in a hug he finally let out the words that he had been holding back for a while but felt he wanted to say right now. "I love you, Mira." Holding her tight he let the world around them dissapear for a while. Then he pulled back and smiled at her running his hand through her blonde hair. "You must be really tired. That's one hell of a job you just did. Why don't you sleep a little. I'll stay here and keep an eye on the babies."
Behind them the voice of a nurse made his head turn when she announced. "You actually don't need to keep an eye on them. We'll take them over to the baby room and keep an eye on them when you want to rest."
A little later Brian said his good byes to his new family and spouse and drove home to Jack's place where he fell into a long deep sleep after the exhausting events of the day.
