The sun was already coming up again somewhere on the horizon when Brian made it back to Coles place. Brian looked at the houses of LA in a grey morning mist while the first people were starting to get up for a very early day. He could barely keep his eyes open and simply dragged himself to Coles doorstep and then inside.
There was only one bedroom and a guestroom as well as the couch but all of them were occupied by the house owner and the two Torettos. Since Brian was way too tired to search for an adequat spot he decided to use the nice Flocatti carpet next to the couch as his bed for whatever was left of the night.
Mia was sound asleep so he carefully grabbed a second blanket from the back of the couch and pulled one pillow out from underneath her feet before he laid down on the floor. For a brief moment he looked at the peaceful expression on her sleeping face. It looked almost serene. With a smiled he backed away and sat down on the long white woolen fabric. Being as tired as he was Brian could have slept on the front lawn with garbage trucks going by.

The bright sun entered through the blinds of the windows waking her up from her sleep. She groaned like a little girl, getting all grumpy and moved the pillow trying to cover her face, in that quick movement she noticed someone asleep on the floor but didn´t pay much attention. Wait. "What the.." Mia thought as she removed the pillow from her face and looked down, she didn´t remember Cole or Dom staying on the ground until she took a better look at the person who was asleep and lightly snoring: Brian.
She couldn´t help but smile at how peaceful he looked in that moment, last time she saw him, he was taking Jack to the hospital. She wondered how Jack was doing, but she also remembered staying up until 3 AM waiting to hear from Brian, but fatigue won over and she fell asleep fast. She took one last look at Brian and slowly walked out to the big patio Cole had, still rubbing her eyes.

Brian slept much longer on the uncomfortable floor than he had ever expected. The need for sleep and deprivation of at least a week caught up with him so it was almost noon when he finally woke up. The hard floor had him get up faster than he would have if he'd been in his nice bed at home. By now the street outside was busy and the noise hard to ignore. It actually took some effort for Brian to get up because most of his muscles were sore and tense and the missing skin on various parts of his body reminded him way too soon of the unfortunate events of the previous day. At least his brother had survived the battle with the police.
For a moment Brian sat on the couch rubbing his face and tried to recollect everything that had happened when he noticed that all of the others were gone.
on the other side of the luxurious living room there was a large glass sliding door that lead out onto a large patio overlooking most of the city. The door was slightly open, which made him instantly weary after everything that had happened. So Brian stood up and slowly made his way over there. On his way he grabbed a smaller statue that could possibly serve as weapon.

Mia sat there looking at the amazing view Cole´s patio provided for only a few more minutes; she then stood up from the wooden bench craving a cup of coffee and slowly made her way inside and gasped as she bumped into the ex cop who had some sort of small statue in his hand. "Good morning to you too," she greeted him. Until she remembered what had happen the day before. She took a hold of the statue removing it from his hand as she closed the glass doors and made her way to the kitchen taking a seat waiting for Brian to join her.
"How´s Jack doing?" she played with her fingers a little nervous to hear his answer and rubbed her eyes one last time. "How are you feeling?" taking a look at his shoulder covered by a bandage. He looked better, not only him, she felt better too; she needed those long hours of sleep.

Brian almost hauled off to whack whoever was out there over the head before they could get him. Instead he looked into Mia's startled face, who gently took the statue from his grasp and placed it where it belonged. Her face was flush from the sun and she looked much more relaxed than before. "Oh man, I guess I'm a little on edge." he admitted and ran both hands through his uncombed hair.
Following Mia to the large kitchen with various brand new machines and a big center with gas stove he asked. "Are you making coffee by any chance?"
Then he leaned his hip against the counter just to flinch away a second later. The sore spots from last night were still very present. "Jack's...alive." What else could he say. It was a real close call. "He made it but is still in critical condition. Who knows..." Looking down at his elbow and knee he wiggled both just to find how sore both were. "Alright I guess."
Suddenly he remembered his kids and Mira. Because of the police chase, bullets flying and Jack in danger he'd forgotten to call them. Instantly he ran away to look for a phone. "I need to call Mira."
From one moment to the next Brian was wide awake. With shaking fingers he reached for the phone on the counter in the hallway and dialled his girl friends number. No answer. Then he tried again with the same result so he left a message to call him back at this number. For a moment he stood and contemplated why she might not be picking up her cell. Maybe she'd become the victim of the mob now...but with Sam gone and Dieseli down that was unlikely. Still Brian called an old friend at the LAPD and asked about her. To his great relief he didn't know a thing.
Walking back to Mia he sighed deeply. "She's not picking up. What did she say to you when you handed our kids to her?"

“We all are edgy, “ she spotted a coffee machine in the center of the counter and away from the stove and started to prepare the coffee taking out two cups and placed them next to the coffee machine. “Yes, that was the reason I decided to come inside. I need coffee…”
She turned to see Brian and heard about Jack´s condition. “He´ll make it… I just wonder if he´ll ever learn his lesson,” she leaned on the counter and saw how Brian winced from the pain his knee and shoulder were giving him, but she didn´t say a thing.
Brian excused himself and went to another room to call Mira. She almost forgot about her, they had been running from the cops, and after the shooting and Jack condition, she just forgot about everyone else, the only persons in her mind were the ones with her hiding from the cops. The smell of coffee broke her thoughts; she filled the two cups and took a seat, a minute later Brian came in.
“She didn´t say a thing. Last thing I remember was having your daughter in my arms rocking her back to sleep when Mira arrived, I handed her your daughter and she just kiss their heads. To be honest I was expecting her to lose it back there when she saw me with your kids but…” she paused and shook her head. “She didn´t say a thing, for a moment she stood there and I just reminded her she needed to get away from the docks and fast as things were going to get ugly… and she left”

Brian didn't take the cup of coffee from her although it smelled tempting. Instead he listened to Mia tell him about her encounter with Mira. It was to be expected that Mira hated her for keeping her kids from her. No reaction at all was very weak. there's was probably a shitstorm ahead of them but Brian was willing to put up with whatever she'd throw his way. Her and the kids safety was worth it. "I'm just happy the kids were fine..." He felt his chest tighten once again because he couldn't be sure that they still were okay since Mira wasn't answering her phone. Brian started pacing the floor wondering what could have happened. "Why is she not picking up? I just hope they are okay." All he wanted was to see her and the kids but he didn't even have a car to get to her. "I think I need to go and see whether she's at the hotel."

It was really weird for Mira not to pick up the phone. Where was she? Was she all right? How about the twins? She could see how affected he looked when he spoke of Mira and his kids and how could he not be if Mira never picked up the phone. "I'm just happy the kids were fine..." she stood up leaving her cup on the counter and approach Brian. "I am sure they are fine. Maybe she overslept, the twins are still little and the constant feedings at night and the lack of sleep. Go to the hotel then but be careful,"
Mia turned to the counter one more time taking a set of keys that were on top of some papers. "Go take a look in that garage and take what you need. The night you went to the hospital Cole let us know if we needed to get out of the house then to go ahead and use them," She pointed to a door that led to the garage and waited for Brian to take the first step.

Each minute that passed made Brian worry more. Who knows, maybe the mob had really gotten their filthy hands on his kids. Mia's reassuring words didn't do more than show him that she was always nice and trying to calm him down. When she told him about the keys Brian wasted no time but grabbed them. "That's great. Where are Cole and Dom?" He asked even though he didn't really spend the time to wait for her answer but walked to the phone again to push redial with the same result. Her phone was turned off. "Let's go." Brian muttered. Still in Cole's shirt and the hospital scrubs he hobbled his way to the garage, flicked on the lights and was greeted by an array of the most exquisit, expensive cars he'd ever seen in one oversized garage. Mesmerized he stared at them all. "Holy shit. How many races did the guy win?" Then he decided that it didn't really matter, nor did it matter which car he'd take, so he took a look at the set of keys in his hand, which had the BMW sign imprinted. With a push of the button the door opened and the lights came on. "M3 it is." Before he sat down in the driver seat he shot a look back at Mia wondering whether she'd come along.

“I don’t know where they are,” she followed him to the garage as he turn on the lights. The garage was huge and the cars, amazing cars all with one thing in common: speed. She was as surprised as Brian, even when he asked out loud about how many races Cole won. “We´ll question him later…”
It didn’t matter which car he took because every single car inside that garage was just freaking perfect. She expected Brian to jump in the car and drive away but he stopped and looked at her, understanding the message clearly she took one look at the car then back at him. “Are you sure?” hesitating to jump in the car not wanting to cause trouble between him and Mira.

Of course taking Mia along to find Mira wasn't a very clever move. The woman was already angry as it was. Seeing Mia would just make things worse. Then again the woman had saved their kids , even if Mira wouldn't see it that way but Brian knew. And how much worse could things really get. Brian felt the need to have a friend there and that's what Mia was, more than anybody else he knew. "Yeah, pretty sure." He admitted a little half hearted before he slid in the driver seat and turned the key in the ignition. "I could use a friend."
Despite all nerves and troubles the roar of the M3 didn't fail to send a shiver right through his hand on the wheel into his body. "Yes, baby, that's what I'm talking about." The words escaped his mouth before he remembered how inappropriate they were right now. The garage door opener in the middle console opened up the large metal door and made way for Brian to back out, throw the car into a spin and onto the quiet, small road.
Soon enough his mind was back on the kids and what danger they might be in.

Brian didn´t sound sure of his answer, she was getting ready to tell him to go alone but quite frankly she was nervous too of what could have happen to Mira. Just when she was about to turn around and walk back to the kitchen she heard him. She sighed and got in, what the hell could go wrong at this point? “Let´s go,” her words were filled with confidence but she was far from feeling confident with this situation of not finding Mira.
Hopefully, she was right and Mira overslept and didn’t hear her phone. But any way she tried to think of a possibility for Mira not picking up that phone was fading fast. Maybe she was in real danger…

With Mia in the passenger seat Brian felt a little more comfortable. She was always there to help, more reliable than anybody else he knew and their recent issues seemed to be dissolving with the unfortunate situation. At least something good was coming out of it.
Usually a car like the BMW would have tempted Brian to no end. He would have tested its excelleration, speed and maneuvering. Right now he didn't care but made sure they got there safe without running into any cops. "Thanks for coming along, Mia. I know you're tired, too." He shot her a quick glance before turning a corner onto a bigger street. "Can you tell me one thing? How did you end up with our kids? Why you?" Brian didn't understand the whole concept since Mia was Brian's friend not Sams.

She looked out the window while questions ran through her head. So far no cops spotted them and Brian´s driving was normal. She knew how desperate Brian was getting even though he never said it, she just knew... “Don´t worry about it,” she didn´t feel tired at all, those hours of sleep helped her a lot.
She turned to see him when he started questioning her. “I wish I knew Brian. I guess Sam had a change of heart. I-I don´t know, I am just glad they are okay,” going back to those two days she spent in that hotel room with his kids, they totally changed her life, the lack of sleep, the small amount of meals she ate as she rocked one of the babies while the other one slept. She would do it all over again at the same time she was glad Sam trusted her, he could´ve take them somewhere else but he didn´t.

"Sam has no heart." Brian commented dryly. If he could he'd make sure that man would never walk around free again. This wasn't his job anymore though.
"Why didn't you tell me, Mia? You saw what it was like for me and Mira?" For another long moment his eyes lingered on her profile before he had to focus on the traffic again.
It took them pretty long at this time of the day but an hour later they finally arrived at the motel, where Mira had gone to after the threats. "Her car's not here." Brian observed before he went into the small reception and asked for her. "Sorry, pal. The woman left this morning. Seemed in a hurry." Wrinkling his brow Brian tried to figure out why she had left. "Did she leave a message for me? Brian O'Conner?" The receptionist kept chewing his gum with his mouth open but turned to check the small pigeon holes behind him. "No,sir." He then informed them. "Is her room fine? Nothing broken?" "Huh? Nope!" Now it was the clerk who started looking worried.
Quietly Brian walked outside. For a moment he just leaned against the wall trying to make sense of it."I don't get it...why did she leave and not leave me a message? Do you think she's blaming all this on me?"

Her heart skipped a beat when he mentioned his son and daughter. “Of course I wanted to tell you. I was aware of how much it affected you and Mira but I couldn’t, keeping them safe was more important in that moment and that was the price I had to pay, not to say a word… but you got them back safe and sound and that´s all that matters,” She continued to look out the window until they arrived to the hotel and walked inside the reception. ***
This was a starting to get a little strange, Brian kept asking more questions. The fact that Mira´s car wasn´t here in this hotel and for her to leave with no word to Brian or at least a message, what was harder to believe was for her to take his kids… “Running away isn´t the answer, but after what went down… “ She sighed and leaned on the wall too. “Why don´t you call her father? Maybe he knows something about her.” She suggested,

With his eyes still fixed on the parking lot and his back against the warm, brick wall of the building he listened to Mia's words but they barely made it to his ears. Brian was too lost in thoughts. Had mira possibly run away because she got scared? "Why didn't she leave a message?" He was starting to get desperate because j=he had no idea where his kids were. Brian hadn't even had time to bond with the babies when shit hit the fan and now they were gone. His chest tighten while he tried to remain calm...in vain. Mia's suggestion however made sense. Why hadn't he thought of that before. "You're right."
Quickly he walked back inside to use the phone and dialed Hobbs number that he knew by heart. "Hi, it's Brian. I'm at the hotel where Mira and the kids were staying but she's not here. Do you know where she is?" His voice was urgent, almost unfriendly. Out of the corner of his eyes he watched Mia enter the reception behind him. Thank goodness she was there. Without her he probably would have smashed his fist through something by now.

Post by Agent Luke Hobbs on Jun 14, 2013 0:43:19 GMT 2
Who knew the amount of paperwork required when an mafia godfather perishes on the scene. The one thing Hobbs didn't like, hated rather, about his job was processing and paperwork. He so happened to be neck deep in the stuff. If things couldn't dampen his day anymore, he received news that the mob bust was only partially successful, and that there was already evidence of a reorganized leadership.
So when his focus was cut off by his ringing phone, he had to take a second to resist the temptation of chucking it across the room. "Hobbs." He answered harshly and was greeted by the voice of a man he still didn't hold in his good graces. His words though suddenly turned the agent's expression into one of discontent and worry. "I thought you had her under your wing, O'Conner." He barked as if he blamed the ex-cop for anything that had to do with his daughter...which he did. "The last I heard of her she said the kids you managed to lose were safe, said she was at a hotel. Why the hell are you not with her in the first place?" He demanded with obvious frustration. He knew all too well that danger was still out there. Maybe more than ever now that the desire of revenge was in the air.

Anger, concern, sadness. All came at once to Brian´s baby blue eyes. She quickly followed him to the reception. He was losing it as seconds went by, the way he talked to Mira´s father, how tight he held the phone and sweat beads formed in his forehead, a whirlwind of emotions going on inside of him, for a quick moment Brian finished asking around but it wasn’t getting any better, whatever Mira´s father was telling him was making Brian more and more frustrated, she could see it.
Mia stopped next to him, as his eyes focused nowhere in particular digesting every bit of information he was receiving, she gently intertwined her hand with his, squeezing his hand gently, a way for her to show him she was always going to be there just like she promised back when Sam decided to send a picture to Brian telling him he had his children.
“Where the hell are you Mira? Where did you take those babies?” Questions she didn’t have the answers to, nor Brian or her father.

Mira's father had been helpful with bringing down the mob. That didn't change the fact that both men didn't like each other. Hobbs discontent was clearly evident in the tone of his voice when he snapped at Brian rather than calming the worried man down. Instead of going into a lengthy discussing that Mira never wanted to be under anybodys wing because she was way to stubborn and self sufficient for that or that Brian tried to keep her out of harms way, the ex-cop resorted to scowly and grunting at the phone. When Hobbs started dishing out low blows he could hold his tongue any longer. "I didn't loose my kids! They were fucking kidnapped. I did everything I could to get them back and I did, didn't I" His angry glare got misdirected at Mia and made the poor woman shrink. "I'm trying to be with her but she's gone!" Obviously her father knew as much as Brian so he threw the phone back on the station and stomped out of the reception.
Angrily threw the door close behind him because he didn't know what else to do with his frustration.
When Mia came he took a deep breath and quickly apologized. "Sorry, he doesn't know anything." Shaking his head and running his hands over his face he noticed how much they were shaking.
What do you hope for when both options are crap. Swallowing hard against the lump in his throat he explained. "She's either been kidnapped by the mob or she's taken off and is choosing to ignore me."
