Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday I know my kingdom awaits and they've forgiven my mistakes... The cold felt real, so real that her bones were numb; she didn’t know if she was shaking because of it or maybe it was the silent sobs that shook her body? Far away she could hear a person talk about god, about life… she wasn´t supposed to be here. Where was Brian? He needed to wake her up from this nightmare. She closed her eyes for a moment as fresh tears ran down her cheeks. “Wake me up, please wake me up...” she whispered in her mind. She hated nightmares, so sad… Mia opened her eyes just to find herself once again in the cemetery. No! She couldn´t be here. What was she doing here? She had to get up and make coffee for Brian; it was time for him to bring his children home to spend a nice afternoon. She turned to see who was sitting next to her as a warm hand covered hers. “Where is he?” she simply asked, her voice quivering with each word as the tears kept flowing, her chest painfully rising and descending with every breath she took. Why was she feeling so empty?

If there was ever a moment in Dom's life where he doubted reality, doubted life or even fate itself. This was it. Nothing about this felt like reality. They had become a hardened family, never too great to be invincible, but too stubborn to fail. That was what defined La familia. This...this wasn't part of that paradigm, it had no place in the storybook of their lives. It was for that reason that Dom felt anger almost as much as he felt sorrow.
And so he sat there with his hand wrapped around his sister's, in front of a casket with a familiar picture held on a stand giving clue as to who was inside. Images of the past played continuously in his head. He'd been here before. First it was Jesse, then Letty's alleged death, but even so death was too hard for him to take anymore. He felt burned and scarred by it.
Dom hung his head at his sister's faint question. He couldn't answer it. He couldn't even move his tongue if he wanted too. All over his body felt numb, paralyzed from a combination of shock, despair, sorrow, and anger. He simply slid his eyes to meet her's as if to signify what they both knew was reality.

Cole was still in disbelief...He almost didn't even attend the funeral, he didn't want to believe it, or rather he couldn't believe it. Somewhere in his head he half expected Brian to walk right up and yell "april fools" even though it wasn't April. The one person he actually got close with and felt he could trust with his life, was gone. Just like that, gone. They'd been through the world and back, literally. They've survived things that most people would write off as lethal. And suddenly, he was gone.
The young blonde didn't know what to feel. He was stricken with despair to no end, and he never experienced depression quite like this before. If there was anything, anything he could've done to create a chance that Brian might still be here, he would've done it without a second thought.
He couldn't even begin to guess what Mia was going through. As close as Brian was to him, he was that much closer to her. Those two were each other's answer, and though there was a void in all of their hearts, it must've been a black hole for Mia.
He sat in the last row of chairs, not to be seen by the Toretto's and preferably not by anyone else he knew. He didn't have any words, and he wasn't sure if he was showing the "right" emotion. The wave of shock was still in full force, but yet he wasn't even sure it hit him completely yet.

The way his brother looked at her made reality sink in, she couldn´t stop crying still in denial of who was inside that casket. She shook her head and covered her mouth starting sobbing. Not even Dom´s arms could take the pain away; the big family they once had was starting to disappear little by little.
Flashbacks flooded her mind from that phone call she received from Brian to go to Tokyo and help him out, their arguments, her anger because she wanted him away from her life but he made it clear he still wanted a friendship, the talk she had with Dom about what she should do.
The small conversations she had with Brian, his voice hard to forget, his laughter and smile hard to erase. She wouldn’t be able to survive, not being able to see him or able to hear her name come out of his lips, not being able to caress his hair or to kiss him one more time. Waking up every morning and not looking at those blue eyes.
Not being able to watch his children grow. Oh god…his children! Her gaze focused on the casket, her brown eyes no longer filled with kindness or warmth but coldness. Whoever was responsible for this was going to pay, she´d make sure of that.

It wasn't exactly the sunniest day, but there was enough to serve as light that afternoon. The clouds were heavy, as if rain threatened to be upon the small gathered crowd any minute.
When the soft drizzle first started, Jack was pissed at the heavens that they felt that they had to desecrate this day, but the more he thought about it, the more the dreary weather became fitting.
After all, the reason why they were all gathered out here was far from the happiest.
It's been a long fucking time since he gave up on the world being fair. But there were still a few things a man should never have to do, and burying his brother so early on in life was pretty high up there. Sitting on one of the uncomfortable plastic folding chairs next to the Torettos and staring at the casket in front of him, a multitude of emotions flew through Jack's chest, turning his insides in the most twisted-up combination of grief and guilt that he'd ever felt. And one by itself he could've managed, easy, but the tag-team combo was knocking him on his ass, his bloodshot and red rimmed jaded eyes betraying his otherwise stoic expression.
Holy fucking shit, did he wish his brother was here now to make fun of him like he used to. But that was never going to happen again now, was it? And all he could think about was how Brian had died thinking he hated him, and how he'll never be able to make amends...
God. It had been barely a week since it had happened, but until this exact moment, Jack could not bring himself to believe that his big brother was really gone...

OOC: I apologize in advance at how bad this post is going to suck...Haven't RP'ed or written anything like this before.
Dom barely noticed the rain, he hardly even blinked when a raindrop stung his left eye. He sat motionless as if a statue, only an arm wrapped around Mia's shoulders. He couldn't help but think about how much different everything would be from this day forward. He knew that at the end the family would pull themselves together, maybe even stronger than before. But yet there would be no substitute for Brian. There would always be that empty seat at the table.
A minister now stood at a modest podium, blessing the service itself and carrying on with a prayer book. Soon after, he stepped off to the side and invited anyone who wished to speak. Pale face and all, Dom steadily rose from his chair and made a slow but deliberate march forward. As he got closer to the podium and consequently closer to the casket, his vision started to blur. He wasn't sure if it was tears or simply being overwhelmed, maybe both.
As he rested his hands on the wooden platform, a shellshocked crowd of people meant his gaze. Almost all of who he recognized from some instance or another. Never in his life did he have such a difficult time making words. "Many of you knew Brian as a friend, a competitor, a brother, or the man you love." His gaze went to Jack and then Mia at the last two descriptions. "I knew him as one of my own, a part of my family. In a sense, he was a part of who I was." Dom took a long breathe, fighting back emotions the best he could. "Brian was forever loyal not just to my family, but to those he called friends as well. He wouldn't hesitate to take a bullet for those he loved. He served for justice and freedom for all, a perfect representation of his character. I feel blessed to have known the man, as you all should too. May us all keep him close in our hearts, yet carry on his legacy and his purpose in our own lives."
Having said all he could bear, he slowly turned to the casket behind him and let his eyes wander through all the details of it, the pictures, the flowers, everything.
"Rest in peace, O'Conner" Dom solemnly crossed himself in front of the casket and turned to make the journey back to his seat.

She had no strength to stand up and say a few words, her heart hurt so much she wouldn’t be able to talk, she couldn’t and didn’t want to do it because by remembering him it would be a way to accept that he was finally gone. The casket was never open, she knew it was him inside; it was her who had to I.D. him.
Anger flashed in her eyes for a moment as Dom delivered his speech. She wanted to get up and leave, to go home and sleep waiting for Brian to come home. She was in so much denial he was gone.
She let her gaze wonder to some trees and other graves watching Dom was not doing any good to her; the wind blew again moving gently a few strands of her long hair. “Mia…” she opened her eyes, she could listen to Brian´s voice calling her, but he wasn’t there. Her mind was playing games with her and she wanted to scream.
Mia couldn’t even look at Jack. He had those same blue eyes, she had enough pain in her and the last thing she needed was to look at Jack and let her sorrow double by the second. Cole had to be somewhere too, she felt bad for every single person that shared a moment of their lives with him. But, who had so much hate in their heart to do this? Who?

When the minister stepped aside and invited anyone who wished to say a few words, there were a million things Jack wanted to say. A lifetime of things.
Thank you for being an awesome big brother, for always leaving the last of the good sugary cereal for your annoying snot-nosed baby brother. Thank you for beating up that bully when I was in fourth grade, and then thank you for taking the time to teach me how to properly beat up the next one. Thank you for infecting me with this love for cars. Thank you for taking all of Dad's anger that time when it was me who took his beloved old-timer for a joyride (and banged it up), and thank you for not hating me for all the other times you had to pull my ass out of the fire over the years. Thank you for always continuing to always have my back, even though I never really deserved it. Thank you for saving my life. And damn you for leaving all of us here now.
But he just couldn't.
Thankfully, it seemed like he didn't necessarily have to either.
Jack lifted his head to look at Dom who was slowly rising from his seat. If the oldest Toretto was crying, the tears were quickly blending in with the rain drops that now cleansed all of their faces. The track towards the podium was slow and sluggish, and by the time Dom stepped up behind the wooden stand, Jack was dreading the words the man was about to speak.
"Many of you knew Brian as a friend, a competitor, a brother, or the man you love."
Speaking those words, Dom made eye contact with both Mia and him for a brief moment, and it was in that moment that Jack's heart ached for someone other than himself. He wanted to apologize to Mia. Tell her he was sorry Brian didn't realize sooner what was right in front of him. Sorry Brian didn't even know she still loved him until a few months back. Sorry they wouldn't be able to get the life they'd wanted together.
"...I knew him as one of my own, a part of my family. In a sense, he was a part of who I was. Brian was forever loyal not just to my family, but to those he called friends as well. He wouldn't hesitate to take a bullet for those he loved..."
It was then that Jack just couldn't take all this bullshit anymore. Without as much as a word, he stood up abruptly, hearing only bits and pieces now of the rest of the funeral speech Dom had prepared while he removed himself from the scene and headed towards his Evo. Fucking hell, it should have been him laying in that coffin. But for what it was worth, whoever was responsible for his brother's death... they were going to pay big time, one way or another.
(OOC: Not sure if everyone is supposed to already know that Brian's death wasn't an accident, but since Mia knows it wasn't, I just went along with that. Can edit if needed.)

Jack's sudden departure drew plenty of eyeballs, though surely he didn't care at this point. Dom wasn't one to go after him, some things were just too difficult to accept. This service just got more painful as it carried on. Several others made their way to the front to deliver their goodbyes, Cole included.
The rain turned into a full on shower as the service concluded. Soaking wet individuals pulled themselves out of the chairs, some didn't budge at all. It didn't matter if it was rain or shine, no one cared. Dom made a slow but deliberate walk with Mia in his arm. The full force of his own anger now hitting him. "This is about justice now."
OOC: I don't mean to prematurely wrap up the thread I just thought it wasn't going to go much further in its current state

She was never fond of Jack, his actions got Brian in trouble, but deep down she felt the need to reach out to him and say something but she couldn´t find her voice not even the energy to say a few words about the one person she loved the most and was now dead.
The memorial kept going for a few more mintues. Part of her did not want to go and leave him there locked in a cold casket yet another part of her felt she had to hurry and get the hell out of there. It was Dom who gently helped her get up and turned around to walk towards the car.
The rain didn´t seem to make them run to the car, she still didn´t know how she managed to walk to the car without collapsing, even though Dom had his full attention on her, clearly worried, and agry too. Not at her but at this whole situation. "Promise me you´ll help me find the person behind this," She stopped and looked at Dom matching the same anger in her gaze.
From this moment on she was no longer the good girl, because all she wanted to do was something she never thought she would do in her life and that was to kill the person responsible for killing Brian.

It was as if leaving those chairs and turning away from that casket was the start of a new chapter. A chapter that would be filled with grief but defined by a single objective. For Dom, it was like learning of Letty's death all over again. He was going to kill Braga, and no one would be in his way. This was no different.
To hear his sister talk like that though, and to read the hatred in her eyes. Dom realized in a hurry that she had just the same intentions he did. Her claws had visibly come out, something Dom hadn't seen in a long time. "Promise." He said with a look into her eyes. "We won't rest until we do."
