Letty rolled her eyes staying quiet as Jack's temper flared. Men were always so touchy when you questioned their sense of direction.
They had been walking for a while now, they should have already reached Brian by now, I mean he hadn't dropped them to far...
Completely absorbed in her own musings, she suddenly found herself being pushed toward the ground. "Uh ouch," she said hugging herself, when the searchlight caught her attention.
"Oh shit no, there's no way I'm dealing with cops...again." The light still shone above their heads, "Remind me to kill your brother when we find him."

his fingers were tapping away at the steering wheel while he waited for Jack and Letty. Maybe it wasn't such a good idea after all. Especially with Letty in such a bad shape.
Brian pulled the keys out of the ignition and got out. Suddenly he spotted a patrol jeep nearby. He ducked behind a bush as if that would make his car invisible and then slapped his forehead. A second later he ran towards the river bed and tried to see the two.
as soon as the patrol moved on he stumbled down towards where he thought they might be but couldn't see them. "Oh, crap. Letty! Jack!"

"Yeah, I got first dibs on that." Jack glanced at Letty for a moment and shot her a smile. "Sorry about the rough housing."
When the light finally moved away from their spot, he let out a relieved sigh. "At least this means we're close, right?"
His relieve however didn´t last long when he heard a familiar voice call out their names. What the hell was he thinking with that patrol car still driving around. "Like I said, I got first dibs." He growled through clenched teeth.
He hauled himself of his ass, trying to figure out where Brian was and the patrol at the same time. It would be a damn shame to get caught now.

"Don't worry about it," she answered as the light still beamed over their heads.
"Well either they know we're here, or they are just doing random spot checks. I guess we are pretty close but then where is..." Letty stopped short when a familiar voice rang out in the still evening air.
Letty closed her eyes in silent prayer hoping that no one but them heard that. Both her and Jack scrambled to their feet searching blindly for Brian hoping that the patrol didn't find them first.
"Jack," she said as they picked their way up the path. "If the patrol finds us first, do me a favour..." she paused. "Leave me here and run, I'd rather only one of us gets caught."

Brian made his way ducked down toward where he though Jack and Letty would be. Suddenly he spotted Jack's red shirt a little further over and waved at him. His head whirled around trying to see where the patrol was. They were still pretty damn close so Brian decided to toss a stone at Jack.

Jack stopped, momentarily forgetting about the patrol car nearby when he heard what came out of Letty's mouth. "Wow, there. No one is getting caught. Not you, not me."
He looked further ahead of them, searching for any movement in the dark that could belong to his brother. Brian shouldn't be too far now.
For a moment, he contemplated on taking his chances and call out to Brian, but didn't have to linger long on making that decision when a stone hit him on the arm. "Shit, what the.." He hissed while he turned in to the direction it had come from.
He smirked, glad to see the outline of his brother in the darkness not too far ahead. "Looks like I won't be doing you any favors today, Letty." He nodded in Brian's direction and picked up his pace along the path while still keeping an eye out for that patrol car.

Brian patted himself on the shoulder for hitting Jack at the first try and ran towards them. He put Letty's arm around his neck and helped her over toward his car. Just when they thought they had made it the patrol car's light pointed in their direction scanning the area again.
Brian stopped dead in his track crossing his fingers they wouldn't spot his car. In vain. suddenly the paintjob came to life in the bright light of the patrol. "Run!" He shouted and dashed towards the skyline, threw himself in and started the engine.

Letty looked around to see what had hit Jack, breathing a sigh of relief when she followed his gaze, and could make out Brian crouched down in the darkness. “Thank God,” she praised quietly glad that they had finally found him.
She held on to Jack readjusting herself in order to cross the short distance to where Brian was waiting for them. She cringed inwardly cursing her broken ribs that were still very sore, and it wasn’t helping that they were crawling around the Mexican desert in the middle of the night.
They had only managed a couple of steps toward Brian when a patrol spotlight lit up their surroundings.
“Shit!” She clung to Jack as if their lives depended on it attempting to make a break for it toward the skyline standing there plain as day.

As soon as they started running the border patrol caught sight of all three of them. The jeep shot towards them bumping over dirt hills and brush. Through louderspeakers the ordered. "Stop immediately and put your hands above your head." Only moments later they got so close that they could have taken a shot at Letty but refrained from it because an engine howled a few meters away. All guards turned their heads and looked into the bright headlights of a Nissan Skyline. "Turn off the engine!"

Jack took a better hold of Letty while they closed the last distance towards Brian when suddenly the area around them lit up like it was daytime and his brother called out to run. Like he couldn't come up with that on his own.
With Letty clinging to him in an almost death grip, he pulled her with him as fast as they both could manage, the jeep's engine roaring out close behind them. "Start that fucking car, bro!"
He cringed slightly at the loud commanding voice, but didn't waver from dragging Letty with him towards the Skyline, praying they wouldn't end up getting their asses caught. Or worse. Shot.

The tires of the Skyline whirled up a cloud of dust when Brian pushed the pedal down and pulled the car into a crazy spin just to head over to Letty and Jack the next moment. He pushed the pessenger door open and shouted. "Get in, Jack!"
In the rear view mirror he saw the patrol car come closer fast. "Get in the fucking car!"

Jack pushed Letty toward the open door of the Skyline, practically shoving her in the car before he climbed in after her.
He quickly pulled the door shut while throwing a glance over his shoulder. The patrol car was coming closer by the second and he could see a flash of metal that probably belonged to a gun being aimed towards the Nissan. "O shit! Go!"

All people who crossed the border illegally were now in the car, which was speeding off.
"What do we do?" "Shoot out their tires."
A rifle was aimed below the tail lights of the Nissan. The shooter fired one shot after the other but kept missing the tire because of the bumps in the 'road'. Finally he managed to hit the car but it was the tail light, that went out. The back window followed.

Letty's body was screaming at her to stop moving, but her life depended on running as fast as humanly possible.
Her and Jack managed to reach the car, Jack pushed her inside following close behind while Brian stepped down on the gas tires screeching in protest against the dry desert sand.
The border patrol had seen them, and now they were shooting at the car, she hear a couple rounds ricochet off the Skyline, one managing to break one of the taillights, and then suddenly the whole back window came down on them.
"Shit!" Letty fell sideways onto the backseat covering her head and face as her and Jack were showered with broken glass.
"How the hell are we going to lose them?" she ducked again as the patrol sent off another hail of bullets.

Brian pulled his head in while turning the stearing wheel hard to the left. The Skyline swirfed on the sandy ground before it jumped over a few small bumps. "Are you okay?" He shot a look at the backseat where Letty was shielding her head.
Brian pushed the pedal down while he was trying to evade the bulletts. "What the hell are they doing? They can't just shoot at us!" He found his way back to the dirt road and excellerated as much as the road would allow them.

Jack slightly ducked down when the back window suddenly blew out. "Holy shit! That was a little too close for comfort, man!"
He quickly buckled himself up when Brian pulled at the steering wheel, the Skyline clearly wasn't made to rampage around the desert like this, and looked at his brother in bewilderment . "Obviously they don't agree with you, because they are shooting at us!"
He glanced in his side mirror to see where the patrol car was behind them, until that too was shot to pieces. "You better get us the fuck out of here, before they turn us in to swiss cheese, bro."

The car they were pursuing clearly wasn't made for dirt roads, holes and bumps. However, when it hit a longer straight stretch it made up for it. The patrol jeep had a hard time keeping up. Only when the road became windier the caught up again taking another shot but missed. "The road's ahead. Get them now or they'll be gone."
A few moments later they almost pulled up side by side with the Skyline urging the driver to stop.

As soon as there was tarmack underneath the Nissan's tires Brian floored it. Without a problem the car left the patrol behind and soon was out of reach. Brian gazed in the rear view mirror but couldn't see much trhough the broken back window. "Everybody okay?" He yelled over the engine noise which sounded a little strange.

Letty managed to pull herself into a sitting position, bits of broken glass falling out of her hair and off of her clothing. She was sore as hell, even more if possible after being tossed around in Brian's back seat.
"I think...we'll live," she managed to grin at him in the rearview mirror.
She glanced over her shoulder out the broken back window, "Have we lost them?"
The engine was pretty loud, and she couldn't hear herself speak over the racket it was making, "Yo Bri, what's up with the car?"

On the straight stretch of road the patrol jeep soon lost sight of the Nissan.
The radioed for back-up giving the police model and mae of Brian's car as well as the plates.
