What's the point of being an outlaw when you've got responsibilities?

"Oh ha fucking ha ha." Jack slapped Brian across the head, harder than really was necessary with a grin on his face. Even though his brother was a pain in the ass most of the time, he still wouldn't want to miss having the guy around.
"On the bright side of things." He smirked as he took another drag of the cigarette, blowing the smoke out in Brian's face. "If one day these things do kill me, you'll inherit everything I don't own!"

Brian took the last drag and put it out under his chucks. "You should get an agent and be a comedian, brother."
He got up. "So are you going fix this thing or do I have to?"

Jack looked up at the sunny sky above them before he shot Brian a smirk and shrugged, folding his hands behind his head and leaning his back against the wall.
"I don't know. I think I'm on my break right now, boss." If it was one thing he hated with standard car maintenance, it was replacing the timing belt. It could be quite a hassle and he did still have his reputation of lazy bastard to uphold. On top of that, Faye's car needed more than a new timing belt to keep it alive and running this time anyway.

Brian kicked out the old chair from underneath Jack's butt. "Break? My ass. You haven't even started."
Then he went and grabbed the tools, not to work on the car but drop them in Jack's lap a second later.

Jack wasn't very amused anymore when his ass hit the pavement, but than again, he should have expected such an action from Brian.
He snatched the tools out of his lap and grumbled some obscenities while he got up. Maybe working at his brother's garage wasn't as leisure land as he thought and hoped it was going to be. "And what are you gonna do, huh? I don't see any other business rolling in here."
He shook his head and grumbled some more while he poked his head under the hood again, disconnecting and removing everything that needed to be. "I hope you ordered a water pump, too, or that will be her next problem!"

Brian ignored Jack's rambling and went to the 'office' where he pulled out his phone and the slip to Faye's car and ordered a water pump. Then he started putting together shelves and unwrapping appliances, that had been shipped in.

After going through the whole process of getting the belt loose, Jack finally threw the thing on the ground behind him in an annoyed manner. He pulled his head back out from under the hood and wiped his hands on a nearby rag before he walked toward the 'office' where he found Brian working on actually making it look like an office.
He leaned in the doorway, raising an eyebrow while he grumbled. "Don't tell me you didn't order that pump together with the belt. I'm not tearing that thing apart again a few days later and you know it's better not to take the belt off again for that damned pump and having to place it back on a second time!" He shook his head, still annoyed with the fact that he was actually working. The only bright side was, was that he was at least working on Faye's car and not some snobby fart in a suit or something. "So much for the promise of having her car back tonight."

brian looked up at him from his position on the floor behind a shelf that he was assembling. "Hm? Yeah, sorry. I thought Rome did and he thought I did." He twirled his finger in the air. "We still gotta work out the communication flow here." He dropped the screwdiver and pushed the shelf all the way to the wall. "But since it's your sweethearts car I'm sure you don't mind. Yours should be here shorty as well. I called the towing truck about an hour ago."

Jack rubbed a hand over his face at Brian's answer and let out a frustrated sigh. "Yeah, no of course I don't mind. I love extra work." While the sarcasm dripped off his every word, his mood dropped even further when he was reminded of his fucked up car. "Right... Thanks."
He shook his head and walked back to Faye's car, slamming the hood shut. There was no use in putting the belt on now if he had to take off again a couple of days later when the pump arrived.

A few moment later Jack's patience was rewarded by a pretty sight. His bashed up car arrived at the garage. The driver, a grey haired guy with a big gutt and a 5 day beard mumbled. "Damn pitty to wreck a nice car like this. You young people shouldn't be driving such fast cars."
Brian signed the receipt and nodded. "True enough." he gave Jack a smirk and handed the papers to the driver. "Thanks." He tossed Jack the keys. "Enjoy yourself. I'll call a girl I know. She's awesome with body work and paint jobs. Maybe she can help."

Jack caught the keys mid-air and raised his eyebrows at Brian's following words. "Awesome at body work, huh? Well if she's hot, she can work mine anytime." He smirked while he clapped his brother on the shoulder. "But seriously though, if I want to get my nails painted I'll go to a beauty saloon or something."
When he turned around to face the Evo, his smirk faded a little while he let out a sigh. The damage looked even worse under the artificial light of the garage, but he was glad that the car at least wasn't totaled.

Maxine turned the page of the newspaper lying on the counter in front of her to the jobsection while she sipped on a cup of fresh coffee. She had been out of a job for two weeks now and she was beginning to get a bit worried. Her bills needed to be paid and right now she would go for just about any crummy job just to keep the lights on and the water running.
Her dark browns skimmed over the page, looking for anything she would be remotely suitable for, when her phone started ringing next to her. Without taking her eyes off the page, she finally picked it up when the ringing persisted and answered absently. "Hello..?"

"Max? This is Brian." For a moment he wondered whether she still knew who he was. After all it had been a while since they had talked last. Max had gone to high school with Jack ages ago. A couple of years back Brian had been quite surprised to meet her in a garage in LA. "O'Conner." He added just to be on the safe side. "I was wondering. Do you still do custom paint jobs?"

Max bit her lip while she narrowed her eyes at the name. She couldn't quite place a face to it and she wasn't sure whether she was supposed to know the guy, but judging by the fact that he called her by her name he sure seemed to know her.
After a couple of seconds of silence, the voice on the other side finally stated a last name and her face lit up in a smile of recognition. How could she ever forget about the O'Conner boys. "O Hey! Damn right I do." But then her eyes caught the jobsection of the newspaper again and the happy tone of her voice deflated. "But I got fired from the garage like two weeks ago because of cutbacks so I'm afraid I can't help you with those at the moment."

"Right now we just need somebody to resurrect Jack's EVO and put something other than nail polish on it. Special request from Jackie." He shot him a look through the door. "We're in the midst of opening up a garage, so if we get more requests and can afford it we could hire you. For now you could freelance here." He listened intently what her reaction would be hoping he still had a good name on the streets.

Max perked up in her seat at where the conversation was headed. Not only did she have a chance at landing a job in a garage again, doing what she loved, but she was also dying to see the boys again after having lost touch.
"I don't think you could ever afford me, Brian." She replied teasingly while she stood up and poured her now lukewarm coffee down the sink. "But I'll take the job for old time's sake. When do you need me? O, and tell Jack I'll try and remember to leave my nail polish at home." She added, laughing.

Brian laughed at her joke picturing her painting Jack's nails. "As soon as you can. The adress is 53a Crossham Lane. Thanks, Max!" He hung up and shouted into the garage. "I have a surprise for you. She's coming soon!"

Faye sighed as she hit the ground floot button in the elavator, after she had told her boss what had been going on her had given her the rest of the day of, which she was actually gratefull for, what she wasnt gratefull for though was the case load she was bringing home. With a sigh she punched jacks number into her phone and waited for him to pick up, when he didnt answer she tried Brians number.
"Hey, Jack busy, cus im finished, ill grab the bus"She questioned as she popped a hip out to the side, resting her arm over her chest while she waited for the elavator to stop.

Right when he hung up the phone rang again. Brian assumed it was Maxime who had hit call back. "That was fast, Max." Then he heard Faye's voice. "Oh,sorry. I thought you are somebody else. Why don't you come over here and ride home with us?"

"Yea sure why not, i can walk it from here"She stated as she finally got of the elevator, heels clacking across the marble floor as she reasched the outside.
"See you guys soon"
