Brian rode the wave as far as he could. When it lost it's power and he slowly sank to the sandy bottom his heart was hammering. Pushing himself up to the surface he cheered. "Did you see that! A+ on the first one!" A moment later he was swimming back out towards the breaking point where he was waiting for Letty to catch up with him. "You're liking that! I can see it in your eyes."

"Gee, aren't you a genius for that," was her fast and sarcastic reaction. "Perhaps the scream of joy helped," she continued, less 'acid'. Gentle and sweet conversation wasn't her strong point, but nobody expected that from her. At least, nobody who knew her. She had all the makings to be a bitch, and frankly said, she often was. Especially if Dom again got himself cornered by skanks. Attitude was what Letty had most, and used most. And it rewarded itself, that was a fact.
But not to family, despite what kind of. Truth be told, she still didn't completely trust nor like her current companion. Yes, she had sought him out to clear Dom's name, which kinda got her killed, but before and after she held her reservations about the guy. But Dom seemed to trust him, and because of that she gave him the benefit of the doubt. Yeah, and he was pretty close to her 'sister', which also gave him some bonus points. And usually he didn't seem that bad. With some work - and she trusted Mia with that - he'd make a great guy. Though not as great as her man. Perhaps that was the difference, too. Brian might make a great guy - Dom was a great man.

Brian swam back over to her and stood up letting the water run of his back. Of course Letty would be a smart ass even if she was having fun. She didn't really seem relaxed though. Wiping the water of his face with his palm he looked at her and motioned for the next set rolling in. "C'mon." He made his way into the deeper water and waited for her to join him. How odd was it to actually be spending some time on the beach with her. Only a little while ago she was presumed dead and before that Brian would probably be the last person she'd want to hang out with. "Just chill." He shouted when he saw the brief scowl.

Of course Brian had something to comment on, but he had a point. However, Letty wasn't sure she could actually change something about it. Attitude had been part of her since... Well, as far as she could remember, and since she spent time with the Toretto's, it had only improved. Or worsened, depending from which point you looked at it. One thing was sure; Letty could pretty much always handle herself. At least in her daily life. Hell, she was probably the one that could get the most done with Dom, whether it was stopping him, soothing him or something else.
Nevertheless, she should, as Brian poetically put it, just chill. It wouldn't kill her - not on a place like this. With a mischievous smile she threw herself back in the water, swimming to where the ground seemed to cave in and the water was deep enough to do another attempt at bodysurfing. The lukewarm water, the summery breeze and the hot sun made the Latina feel thoroughly alive again, which in itself brought a smile on her face.

Brian stood in the chest deep water and waited for her to come over. When she resurfaced with a smile he simply had to smile as well. Her wide smile was contagious.
Letty stood with her dark teint back towards him looking over her shoulder for the next green turning to white water when Brian noticed the scar on her back. Bullett scar, no doubt about it. But it was healed and had faded to almost white. The ex-fed couldn't help but wonder whether she had received it the night when the car rolled and went up in flames. Guilt hit the pit of his stomach. If he hadn't put her in touch with the FBI she never would have been injured or almost died. He took a deep breath and turned around to look at the wave that was almost hitting his back before he grabbed her by the waist and gave her a push that should make her ride all the way to the shore. "Go." The water splashed over his shoulders and head.

It was safe to say Letty was slightly surprised when he suddenly grabbed her waist to push her on the approaching wave. Her first instinct, as it had been so long when a touch was identified as not from Dom, was to turn around and punch him. However, the moment fled past and she relaxed, instead paddling herself to the best position for as far as she could see and assuming the right body position, letting the wave do most of the work.
Somehow Brian had surprised her today - again. Full of surprises, that man, not all of them pleasant ones. Though he hadn't brought Dom in the first time he had the chance. He'd been a faithful friend to Dom, and still was. And a careful one, but that was only smart - he was married to Dom's sister, after all. Her dark eyes darkened a moment when she thought about the current situation, which wasn't the best they'd ever been in, but they were all alive, and that was what counted most. They, on occasion, even were all together. She missed the working in the garage, though, the rather complicated uncomplicated being together and messing with engines. Jesse always managed to coax out the last bit of speed, but now they had to do it without the whizzkid. Because one thing always remained the same - their love for street racing. All of them eventually popped up on the local scene, and usually successful. But she had had a good teacher.
The wave crashed to an end close to shore, and slightly unelegant and absolutely not caring about that she untangled herself from the wave, rising from the sea and pushing the ebony hair back, that hung in front of her eyes. She was largely unaware of the fact she was a real looker - she never really thought of herself as pretty, and in trashy or oily clothes she wasn't that much of a looker. Still, she had this confidence, this poise that dared people to look. Softly laughing, she turned around to watch Brian come to shore on his wave. It had been a good idea to meet at the beach and have some uncomplicated fun, for as long as it lasted.

Brian felt his knees rub across the sand and pushed himself to a stand. With a boyish grin he raised his hands and looked at Letty as if to say 'wasn't that awesome'. The cocky one sided smile gave away that she was having some fun. It was so typical. Letty was one hell of a hot Latina with curves in all the right places and she could tear you a new one if she wanted to- at least with her mouth. With her boyish behaviour she toned down her own sex appeal quite a bit. Brian shrugged and pulled up his shorts a little before he clapped her on the shoulder. He spat out some salty water and noticed how the sun was beating down on them and how thirsty he was from the run before and the swim. "Thirsty? There's a small beach hut over there. Drinks on me." Slowly he waded out of the water and squinted against the reflection of the sun on the waves.
A quick look at his watch told him he still had some time. "I have about half an hour until I have to head over to the garage to meet a customer. Do you want to check it out? It's huge!" And Brian wasn't kidding. The place was as big as three smaller places with it's own small track out back.

The moment he said the word thirsty, she realized that the sea water was indeed very salty and had left her, indeed, thirsty. She nodded in agreement. "An actual good idea," she teased, though the remark wasn't as stinging as it could've been. The small wink accompanying it should remove any other possible negative meanings, as she didn't have an ulterior motive when she said the words. She glanced over the beach, locating Brians towel and her bag, which contained the grand total of a pair of ragged shorts, a cropped shirt, flip flops -she had left her beloved but heavy and warm Doc Martens at home- a nearly empty wallet and the most important thing - car keys. Thanks to the origin of the bag - an old one of Mia, it was a lot more fashionable, girly and clean then if it had been Letty's own.
Of course, what was in the bag corrected that false impression. Her originally light coloured shirt had a few tell tale oil stains on them. Most of her clothes had, anyway. Her smile brightened when he mentioned the word garage, shortly after followed by huge. Garages were one of few thing Letty actually looked forward to - she liked every aspect of them, especially the cars in them. And especially if they were used to race. "D'ya really think ya need to ask? Of course I want to see it," she replied, a fair bit of enthusiasm audible in her voice. She followed him out of the water, cursing herself for leaving her sun glasses in the bag. On the other hand, she came from the freakin' Dominican Republic - she could handle a bit of bright sunlight.

Quickly he grabbed the towel, shook the sand out of it and hung it around his shoulders. He hadn't brought anything else except for the keys and card in his wet pocket so he had to shield his eyes with his hand as they walked over to the beach hut.
Brian pulled out a plastic chair and found a shady spot under an umbrella. No need to offer Letty a chair, all gentleman like. She wouldn't take it anyway. From there he gave girl behind the counter a smile who rolled her eyes. Usually people came over to her but this guy always waited for her to come and bring him a Coke. With a can in her hands she stepped out behind the counter and held it out for Brian. Then she placed her hand on her hip, looked Letty up and down and asked. "And what would you like me to bring you, hon?" Brian bit his lip with a grin and watched Letty eager to hear what she would tell the blonde.

Back at their spot at the beach, she quickly shot on the shorts and put on the sunglasses, ignoring the rest of the stuff in her bag. Hell, she even 'hated' carrying that thing around - she wasn't the most ladylike of women, let alone carrying bags all the time. But sometimes it was necessary, and a bikini didn't have much space to hide your car keys in such a fashion they survived. Nevertheless she took a hold of the bag, with a face as if she had just grabbed full in the oil - or well, how a 'normal girl' would look then. Oil was nothing to be disgusted of. Not for her. Again surprisingly meek she followed Brian to the small hut, where a girl, obviously irritated by him, brought him a coke before asking her what she wanted. That wasn't too bad - the added hon? didn't do the girl much good. Where the Toretto's were famous for quick-to-flare temper, Letty topped that. A big mouth and an incredibly fast rising temper, she never was the easiest to deal with, as the blonde was about to find out. " Hon? Do I really look like that? Must've done something fuckin' wrong this morning. But ya can bring me a Corona, missy, and make sure it's cold," she said, disgust dripping of the first few words, after that the disgust being replaced by general not caring coldness and even a touch of overly sarcastic pleasure. Seemingly unfazed she turned to Brian then, as if the little outburst hadn't happened, as if she hadn't just shocked the waitress, who obviously wasn't used to that kind of reactions. -- Outfit. Or, part of xD

It was hard to hide the small chuckle when the blonde girl with the pink nail polish stomped off and muttered somthing along 'rude..get your stuff yourself...' Why did her favourite customer surround himself in women like THAT?
Brian opened the can and took a long gulp. It quenched his thirst and got rid of the salty taste replacing it with sugar pure. He leaned back and raised his hands behind his head with a sigh. Then he looked at Letty. "Have you found a place yet...cause if not there's a small apartment above the garage. I only use it to hide from Mia every now and then." He was only half kidding. When Mia didn't want him around anymore he had stayed there for a few days.
Without a comment the beer arrived and the woman left again. It was Millers. Once again Brian got curious about the reaction. He emptied his own can and let his eyes wander across the beach. He couldn't help but think about their earlier topic of discussion. The agreement about Doms freedom. His gaze darkened and he shook his head almost unnoticably. "That just ain't right."

With her eyebrows raised she looked as the girl walked away, muttering under breath but not quite soft enough. And it wasn't like her hearing was that good - the loud thunder of engines being pushed beyond their limits was an assault on ones ears. She shook it off though, distracted by Brian. "I'm still in some cheap motel where my car draws too much attention," again, an eyebrow rose in slight irritation. Her car was hers, people had business being interested in it, "but I thought 'bout seeing if my room's still free in the Fort," she then continued. Well, her room - it was actually Dom's room, but since her sixteenth birthday, or shortly after that, it had been promoted to 'our' room. However, she had been away a while, and other than the supposedly being dead-part complicating things, everything had changed. Nevertheless she tried a thankful smile, not sure if it worked "but thanks for the offer. I might hold you to that one day," she told him earnestly.
As the girl practically dumped a bottle of beer in front of her, it turned out to be Millers. Letty's eyes seemed to darken a bit as an annoyed smirk appeared on her face. Without saying anything to Brian, she grabbed the bottle and stalked after the girl. "Hey, missy, something wrong with your ears? I asked for a fuckin' Corona, and this," with this words she handed the girl the bottle so unexpectedly the girl spilled at least half of it over her clothes before dropping the bottle, which shattered the moment it hid the floor "ain't the right stuff. Don't worry, hon, clean this up an' I'll get my own beer." The blonde spluttered, but Letty didn't even give her a chance to interrupt. As soon as she fell silent, she turned around, walked to the kitchen to grab a cold Corona and then walked back to Brian, an almost angelic smile plastered on her face.

Brian got torn out of his serious thought by Lettys rude behaviour. He ran a hand over his fairly long hair and shook his head. "You know I come here once a week and I'd like to come back."
Letty didn't care. As long as the brew in her hand was a Corona.
"Tyler's got your room now. Mia turned it into a nursery when we thought.." He cut himself off but then decided to continue. "when we thought you were dead." He swallowed but kept a straight face. "Nobody knew you were alive and we needed an extra room." Suddenly the sun burnt skin on his bare feet seemed really interesting. Suddenly Brian burst out. "You know I had no idea what the FBI did to you...right?"

"Then you either should teach her manners or hope she knows it was on me, not on you," she bluntly stated, taking a gulp of the Corona. It was pretty much the only beer she drank - the fridge at the garage used to be filled with Corona. Some thought it was the worst beer in the world, or only for pussies, but Letty liked it, and the few that were foolish enough to call her a pussy often regretted it not so much later.
A moment her expression was unreadable, a mixture of anger for them messing with their room, daring to touch Dom's -and her- stuff, but also something of understanding and acceptance. After a while, she would've done the same, she thought, but whereas rationally she could find herself in their decision, emotionally it was a different story. Still, she kept her mouth shut - for once, she managed to actually not say what was on the tip of her tongue. However, when the fool brought up her supposed death and the FBI's involvement, her carefully maintained mask of nonchalance started to crack a bit. The familiar face of an angry Letty showed through, with an uncanny resemblance of a volcano ready to erupt. He wouldn't see it, though, as he suddenly focused on his feet, apparently afraid to meet her eyes. And that might be a smart decision of him. Making the tense silence last a bit, to make him -hopefully- feel insecure she finally nodded. "I know. It wasn't your style." With which she basically implied she thought him capable of the general idea. But what she said was true; she was pretty sure he had nothing to do with it. He would at least tell Mia or Dom that she wasn't truly dead, he wouldn't be capable of letting them go through it for no apparent reason. A few moments later she looked up, fire raging behind her eyes as usual. She had been down, but she wasn't defeated. And one day she'd make the bastards pay - those that still lived. She had heard Fenix was out of the picture.

"Not my style." he muttered wondering what the heck that was supposed to mean. He was aware that Letty still harboured some bad feelings against him for when they first met.
What was more interesting was what really happened to her. He looked into her dark eyes and saw the anger and frustration. It was probably a bad idea to ask if he wanted to keep all his teeth were they were right now. Brian still did though. "What happened...I mean..." He cut himself off before he could say something stupid.

She heard him muttering, but didn't reply to it to clarify what she exactly meant with it. Frankly said, she wasn't sure if she knew what she had meant with it. Or maybe she did - anyways, he was smart enough to bring up another topic of discussion. However, it only seemed to prove he was blond and not always using his brains. What had happened in those dark eyes wasn't something she was quite willing to share, although she knew she had to. Eventually. And even then she wasn't sure Brian was the person she'd spill her story to - Dom was a much more likely candidate for it, even though it'd probably sent him on a rampage to make the bastards pay for what they did.
Her dark eyes locked on his face for a moment, a moment where she clearly felt the desire to punch him a black eye - wasn't that her trademark? She limited herself to a fairly strong punch to his shoulder, hoping it left a bruise, the flames in her eyes being answer enough to the appreciation -or lack thereof- of the question. However, in case he was too thick-headed to get that not-so-subtle suggestion, her coldly spoken words were. "Escaped a shoot-out, got followed. They attempted to kill me again - flipped my car and shot me. Feds took me out, held me captive over the border. I escaped, and eventually came back." She was pretty sure that it was what he knew already, but it'd take a smart question to get more out of her than that. She didn't want to share the pain she had felt after she was shot and had sustained some burns - that came from being dragged from a wrecked car burning and ready to explode - or the helplessness when she had been tied to the bed by the Fed they had left behind to watch her. She had never liked any kind of law enforcement, but what was left of... Respect or fear had all been consumed by distrust and anger. One day, she'd make them pay. One day.

The punch in the shoulder was hard enough to leave an imprint of her knuckles and made him flinch. "What the.." It was to be expected though and he could be glad the girl had chosen his shoulder as a target and not his nose.
Her words were rambled off like they didn't mean anything, like somebody was reading it from a file but Letty didn't give him the full story. He already knew all this. Still it was hard to beleive. "That can't be. The FBI can't operate south of the border and why would they do that?" Her expression didn't give up much but Brian could tell there was much more to the story and he was determined to find out at some stage what had happened. "Listen, Letty. Whatever happened to you might be the kind of proof we need to get Dom's name cleared." Blackmailing the FBI, what a great idea.

When she saw him flinch a satisfied smirk slid over her features, lingering there briefly before returning to her usual expression. She could see he wasn't happy with what she said. "I dunno if it was over the border or just close, by the time I was out and found someone to talk with, I was glad I knew Spanish," she reluctantly clarified, her tone heated. Her fierce dark eyes rose to meet his once again, an ironic smirk revealing that her next words might not fall well with him.
"Since when can they fake deaths and hold people captive without a reason in a non-official facility?" she practically spat back. When you put it like that, she had a point. In the case of Dom Toretto and his 'gang', it seemed rules were there to be broken and messed with. However, Brians next words suggested they'd take it to a whole new level. A moment her face only expressed disbelief. She wasn't sure if she grasped what he was suggesting, but whatever it was, she wasn't sure if she'd be up to it - she was fed up with the FBI for now. Only if it made them pay or actually clear Dom's name and grant him the freedom he earned, she might be convinced to participate in something. "And how d'ya suppose we do that? In case you forgot, they fuckin' screwed us royally the last two attempts," she practically yelled, ignoring the surprised, irritated or even slightly shocked faces of the other people there. The only one she did notice was the angry glare of the waitress, whom she threw a honey sweet smile just to piss her off even more before focusing back on whatever Brian might have in mind.

Brian looked around to see several people watching them and whisper. He got up and grabbed Letty's arm. "C'mon. I think we have enough attention now." As soon as she got up he let go of her arm before she could jerk it away and walked away from the beach hut. Shooting a quick glance back he lowered his voice. "If we really want to make them sweat we need proof of what they did to you and all we have is that everybody thought you were dead. You'd have to find whoever held you captive and convince him to talk."
Suddenly he started thinking about his own words and what all of that could mean for Mia and their life and their plan to actually lead a quieter life. He bit his lip and ran a hand over his face. "Maybe it's not such a good idea."

She really was ready to hit him again when he let go again, even though he had had a point they had enough attention - largely thanks to her. Shooting him an angry glare, she grabbed the bag and followed him out of the hut, raising an incredulous eyebrow at his suggestion. He really was considering to blackmail the FBI. That was something even criminals didn't consider, or not those she knew. And with a reason - a law enforcement agency like the FBI was just slightly too big to pull that trick off. Besides, she was pretty sure that unfortunately there was no proof. On the streets, giving your word meant something. If you broke it, they knew you and wouldn't repeat that mistake.
However, with the government it wasn't the same song, unfortunately. As he started to backtrack on his words, telling that it mightn't be a good idea, she let out a small laughter. "No, really?" She wasn't worried about it, for a key part of this 'plan' to work would be her finding her captors and convincing them to talk. And from what she knew so far, that wouldn't happen in a million years. She tilted her head a little, enjoying the feeling of sand beneath her bare feet and the sound of the waves. It reminded her a bit of the Dominican Republic - those good ol' times. Although, frankly said the mess started there, when Dom left her for 'her safety'. Might have been good intentions, but it hadn't exactly worked out the way he probably had thought it out - but he should've known. Letty wasn't the kind to take orders. Never had been, never would be. Although, if someone had a chance of making her listen, it was Dom.
