"You gotta be kidding me!" Brian shouted at the man who currently held the money in his hand, that should be in the cops pocket. "A tie? That wasn't a tie!" Angrily he shook his head a looked around at the crowd who was either puzzled or shouting as well. Some in his favor, some in his opponents, who had finally gotten his butt out of his car and now started shouting at the man as well. "Tie? Did I hear tie? I won, jerkwad!" "Just back off." Brian raised his arm to keep him at a safe distance but the guy went right for the money and tried to grab it. Of course the man didn't appreciate that move and pushed him off.
After some pushing and shoving somebody plowed his way through the now very interested crowd and held up his camera. "I have a photo, so chill!"
He turned it so Brian could get a glimpse of the shot, then his opponent, while Brian smiled a big winners smile the other guy frowned. "Bad angle, man!" "Bad driving, man!" The cop replied and reached for the money to pocket it.

Sitting on the hood of the beat up '70 Dodge Challenger, Jack had been watching the argument with a slightly amused grin on his face. It was his first night back in to the fast world of Miami's racing scene after his release, and damn it if he hadn't missed the roar of the engines, the smell of burned rubber and the women. Of course, he hadn't missed some of the looks other racers had given him upon his arrival, they must have watched the news, but to hell if he'd let something minor like that ruin tonight.
He pushed himself from the hood of his car while he plucked the stashed cigarette from behind his ear. He placed it between his lips and lit it with ease, soon huffing out the first cloud of smoke as he moved through the crowd towards Brian and the Puerto Rican man who refused to hand over the money. "Always a sore looser, huh, Tommi?"
The man turned and seemed to instantly recognize him. "Oh yeah? What about you? Shot anyone lately? We don't want you here, puto!" Tommi sneered.
There it was. Jack could feel the fury rising under his skin. His eyes darkened in an instant, then he lunged. His fist landed on Tommi's chin before he could react, and the man fell backwards over his own feet, crashing in to the crowd behind him.
"You watch your fucking mouth!" He shouted while he was pulled back by three other men, and he struggled to break free as Tommi struggled his way back on to his feet.
The man spat on the ground in front of him, then tore the hundred bills in half and tossed them in Brian's direction. "Take your fucking money. You're both sick!" Tommi snarled before he turned and forcefully pushed his way through the throng of people to get to his car.
Jack merely scowled as he finally pulled himself free. His eyes moved angrily over the crowd still surrounding them, daring them to say anything to him. He'd kick any one of their asses if he had to. He hadn't come here to stir up shit or to be reminded of the shooting. He had come here to watch the races, maybe pretend he could pick up some of his old life. Finally he shook his head and bent to pick up the torn up money.
"Looks like you just had your winnings doubled. Sorry, bro." He mumbled with a half assed smirk as he slapped the now worthless money in to Brian's hand. Maybe his earlier thought of not having something minor ruin tonight had been a little too presumptuous...

Mira watched the little argument. A laugh escaped her mouth as she sat on edge of her Charger's hood. Slipping a cigarette she into her mouth she smiled. It was nice to see her boyfriend was feeling better and that he and Jack could be in the same area without pulling out guns.
Rolling her eyes as a guy tried to flirt with her she stood. "Look I'm gonna give you a little advice. I am seeing someone so f*ck off before you start something you can't finish." She exhaled smoke. "Now if you don't mind I'm gonna go see my boyfriend." Leaving the guy with a shocked look on his face she walked over to Brian. "Hey. Nice race." She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek.

Where ever Jack showed up he liked to cause trouble. Just like now when he proof to lack impuls control once again. Brian only stood back and watch his newly released brother engage in a fight with the guy, whos till held his money.
When Jack pushed it against his chest he didn't even look at it but close his fist around it and shove it in his pocket. "So you're out and head straight here. Now that's what I call an gasoline junkie." He looked Jack up and down. The limp he was sporting was hard to miss but at least he had left the cane at home. "Are you going to race tonight? I need to wind some money that you just lost me." Maybe Jack was crazy enough to take the challenge.
Mira must not have noticed his brothers arrival because she greeted Brian with a kiss. Brian kissed her back but purposely not introduced them since Mira was supposed to be investigating undercover.

Jack flexed his hand a little after he'd given Brian the torn up money. Tommi's jaw had been a little harder then he'd expected, or maybe he'd just used a little more force behind the blow than he thought he had. Either way, it had been satisfying to release some of his anger to say the least.
He raised his eyebrows at his brother's words and snorted in almost amusement. "What, you expected me to stay home on a friday night?" He shook his head as his eyes wandered over the many cars surrounding them. He may have been shot in his leg, he still couldn't walk without that damned limp, but he couldn't be cooped up between four walls any longer. It was beginning to drive him crazy(er?).
"I don't know. Are you challenging or betting?" He smirked as his eyes moved back on to Brian. True enough, he probably shouldn't race if he was looking to win anything. His leg still hadn't been given enough time to properly heal, as yes it was apparent in his limp, but he still was a sucker for an adrenaline rush. No close to death experience would change that. If anything, being shot had only served to increase his hunger for such a rush.
Once again his brow rose when a blonde girl approached them both and kissed his brother on the cheek, Brian doing the same to her. 'Racer chaser?' She didn't look like one, but really who cared. As for his brother, last time he'd heard, Brian had been banging some exotic looking chick, sister of La's streetrace king or some bullshit, and had been pretty head over heals. Ah well, things changed he guessed.
"Hi, I'm Jack." He introduced himself out of nowhere, smiling his best smile. He made no secret of the fact he was checking her out while he did so, his eyes racking over her body. She wasn't bad to look at, actually. Less skanky than most of the, well.. skanks around here.

Mira smirked and turned to Jack. "Sweetheart my eyes are up here." She gently lifted Jack's chin to he was looking her in the eyes. The normally mismatched eyes were today the same shade of blue thanks to a colored contact. "This is just a guess but you must be Brian's brother." She turned toward Brian. "You never told me your brother was this cute." Turning back to Jack she smiled.
God she hated her job sometimes. She felt really bad for flirting with Jack when she was really dating Brian. It just felt wrong, but she had to do it at least for now.

"If I was betting I'd surely bet against you. Are you racing? Cause that would be the safest bet in years. Or maybe I should race you...that'd be even better." The expression on his face was more than just a little downgrading. The words were way to friendly for Jack. In reality Brian wanted to do everything to put his little brother in his place more than anything else. Brian was incredibly angry at Jack because he had never apologized for his huge fuck up. If it wasn't for the case Brian wouldn't talk to him any more.
The fact that his brother was flirting with Brian's girlfriend was obviously a way of Jack playing his little game but Brian wouldn't fall for it this time. At least he didn't recognize her. How could he, the woman had shot him from behind. It was kind of ironical that he was hitting on her out of all chicks.
In a cool tone he stated to Mira. "I never told you because he isn't. Don't be fooled by that smile!"
Holding up the torn up bills he asked. "You and me and baby doll here. I bet we can both smoke your lame ass." Brian had no idea how well Mira could handle herself in a quarter mile race but he figured better than his limping brother.

Walter eyed the situation from afar, the black dress jacket hung open with two scantily clad girls both attached half under it and leaning against him. With a decent nudge he bumped off the baren black '08 GTO forcing the girls to let him go reluctantly. He sipped from the crystal glass he held, a thick brown liquid accented by two ice cubes. He smoothed his hair back and stepped towards the trio. "The street has room for four tonight I believe." With his un-occupied hand he withdrew a roll of cash and held it up, "Would this be enough to buy myself in for a try?" He smirked but his attitude remained professional. "And no I'm not here because of our discussion." He added as he eyed Brian up and down.

The guy who had just joined them wasn't your average racer. His whole outfit, the drink, the girls he had left behind made him look like a pimp or gangster. As usual Brian had his eyes everywhere, a trait that came with the years as undercover agent.
This man gave him a strange feeling. He sent off a weird vibe. Nevertheless Brian was interested in a challenge. Either he was an easy source of income or he would be a challenge. Whatever it would be Brian was up for it.
Yet he stated. "You think anybody can just throw in his money and race us?" Stepping over to his car he quickly inspected the inside searching for signs of NOS or anything similar. Then nodded. "What's your name?"

"Well, I'll skip playing games. My name is Walter, Jack and I have met before. I would hope that anyone can join you after all you wouldn't assume there to be rules in illegal racing would you? Or if you don't want to race for cash I am simply here for the company. I heard from many people that you have one of the hottest cars out here so, me being the inquisitive type, thought it would be a rip roaring good time to put my skills to the test. I used to drive on the west coast and up around New York." He walked around following Brian, "Don't worry I think my car might even be less of a challenge then the Honda over there." He nodded off in the direction past there cars where a iced out hispanic man was dancing.

Brian couldn't place his face at first but when he mentioned Jack He immediately knew that he was the guy Jack had met at the restaurant. Instantly the hair on the back of his neck stood up and all senses were on full alert. If this was one of the guys working for whoever was hiring Jack his presence here was a coincidence nor was it out of mere interest for racing.
"Hm." Brian nodded and looked over at the mentioned racer. "So you want in. Against who....my brother or me...or do you simply want to drive him off the street into the next brick wall?" Brian's eyes narrowed as he watched Jack out of the corner of his eye but purposely didn't look at Mira to keep her out of the man's focus.

"Don't worry man, I'm not here for any trouble. It's in my best interest to keep him alive any ways because if he bites the bullet then I don't think I get paid any more. No tonight is just simply a night out for me, even some of the hardest people in the world need a break. I wouldn't mind putting up against any of you three actually, or tripple down I'll go in against each of you. How does a share a peace sound if I lose." He smiled as he eyed the female a bit then returned his attention to Brian and Jack, "Oh my honor, even I have some of that. I swear that I won't run anyone off the road, over, up into a wall or otherwise cause any bodily harm to them or their vehicle." He straitened up like a dignitary from some foreign country swearing allegiance to a lord. "And I don't quit think my insurance covers drunk driving anyways." He let loose a short chuckle and took another small sip from his glass as one of the females made her way back to his side from the back of the car.

Brian didn't buy a word of what he said...maybe that he wouldn't get paid if Jack died. This man seemed sleezy, dark somehow dangerous. More than likely he had earned his money as hitman for a while. "I don't trust a word you say but I'll run you off the road before you can touch any of us!" Brian lifted his chin. The expression on his face let the man know that he was serious and willing to do it.
"Hey, hey!" The 'money collector', who had come over because he 'smelled' money stepped between them and placed one hand on both men's chests. "Nobody's getting run off the road during my race...let's keep this clean, we don't need no trouble with those damn cops." Brian stepped back from his touch and stared at the overdressed guy. "Just one question...why don't you go stealing those cars? Jack's leg is fucked up. How about this. I win and you go steal those cars!"

"I haven't stolen any cars in a very long time Mr. O'conner. Please don't insult me like that. My job is to make sure he stays on track, right now I don't want to talk about the job." He smiled again and backed up, "Just a race, nothing about the job, nothing about the goons that are pulling our strings. I'm in the same boat as you." He set the glass down on his roof and raised his hands. "I'll back out of this one, just wanted to see the measure of the guys they hired for this job."

"Back out." Brian snorted. "Funny, didn't think you're the guy to back out." So this man knew who was behind it all. Suddenly Brian saw a way out for Jack and maybe himself. Maybe Brian would be able to take down the big guy without having to put Jack back on the streets. "You know what, sis? I'll race you. If I loose you can have whatever you want! That's how sure I am I'm going to win against you."

Faye heaved in a breath, she was running late, Jack had told her where he would be and it had been a while since she had actually raced. And with her new car she was more then ready to go, even if it was to just sit back and watch everyone else have fun.
Dressed in black shorts, black boots and a simple white singlet top she headed outside and it wasn’t long before she was at the races. Pulling her car to a stop she stepped out, basking in the glow of races, gaze wandering around, seeing people she knew and some that were new to the scene.
A familiar figure loomed in the distance and she headed over towards them, stopping dead though when she realized who he was with. Not only Brian but also Joker. Swallowing she heaved in a breath, smoothed a hand through her hair and stepped forward. “Hope im not missing all the fun”

Letty watched the confrontation from afar. She had taken a risk in showing up here on the street, and she wasn't sure what would happen if someone recognized her.
Walter was getting into it with Brian and Jack, and she wasn't sure he fully understood what he was getting his ass into...whatever she didn't really care he could learn the hard way.
She pulled her hood up more securely around her face and attempted to get closer without calling attention to herself, blending into the crowd.

Walter smiled, "Brian, I'll abide to you're deal. I won't steal the cars for you but I will help you and your brother..." He voice trailed off as he lost his reserve for a moment as he caught the sight and smell of Faye, "...and his girl." His face and voice became steel cold. "There are some people on the west coast that weasled their way out of a lifetime sentence that can vouch that I don't need the paycheck I get from your friends. So this race will be strait. No games. I have one thing to ask, no juicing your car. I won't juice mine. Bare bones quarter mile sprint." He reached into his car and popped the hood letting Brian see what was under the hood. "It will be a test of the driver and the car. I see NOS like steroids, you don't need them if you're good enough."

The last words earned the guy Brian's respect. It was a new, bare approach to street racing. With a short look to the side he noticed Faye's arrival and the brief hesitation from his challenger. "I like your approach." This was too tempting to pass it up. Who knew what this guy could offer them. "Let's do it." Quickly he exchanged a look with Mira thankful she didn't object despite the obvious risk. Reaching for her hand he pulled her closer and took his time to kiss her with a deep look into her eyes letting her know to stay alert and back him up if needed.

Mira kissed Brian back and stared at Joker and his car. He looked like trouble. From the sounds of things this guy was involved in the case as well. Great she thought as she ran her fingers threw her hair. "Be careful." She looked alittle worried as she looked up at him.
