Letty tried to get close enough to decipher some of the conversation while also attempting to stay inconspicuous.
Who knew what they were agreeing to over there. She didn't recognize anyone except Brian and Walter.
Letty made a wide perimeter around the group and managed to hide behind some guys that were also listening in on the conversation. She managed to catch Walter's last words.
"It will be a test of the driver and the car. I see NOS like steroids, you don't need them if you're good enough."
They were planning a straight no nonsense race, it was fair game no NOS or fancy tricks just car and driver. There was no way that Brian would pass this up.
She wondered at Walter's game.

"And Brian...I don't think I've ever introduced myself. You can call me Joker." He smiled widely and grabbed his glass, "I'll see you at the starting line." He folded over his cash and handed it to the bet keeper before sliding into his car. Slowly he rolled up his window and revved the car once before flipping the switch that automaticly dropped the hood back into it's seated position. 'This is going to be fun.' He thought to himself.

Watching him walk back to his car after he finished his drink Brian took a deep breath and then whispered to Mira. "Keep your eye open. He works for our guy." Once again he kissed her, shot a glance at Jack. "Watch how it's done, little brother." Brian simply couldn't resist.
He didn't quite know why 'Joker' put his money down. Brian wasn't after money. He needed answers, leads, a name.
With fast steps he walked to his Skyline and sat down in the seat, quickly buckling up. His hand was about to flick the switch for the NOS when he remembered the deal that he wasn't about to break. He could beat this guy straight up.
After warming up his engine he rolled up at the start line where Joker was already waiting.
The crowd that had gathered was excited, drunk, thrilled, placing money on whoever they thought would win. A lot of them probably put their money on Brian since he had made a name for himself on Miami's streets. His pale blue eyes lingered on a figure in the crowd a split second longer than on the others. Did he know that person?
Slowly he rolled his head to the side to give Joker a nod.

Mira nodded and watched Brian get into his skyline. She trusted in his ability but she was still nervous. Things easily could go bad in a race. Moving back to her Dodge Charger to get a better view of the race, she waited her eyes never leaving the two cars except to glance at Jack.

The race was about to start and as the crowd pressed closer Letty found herself being pushed toward the front.
She wasn't sure what game Walter was playing or whether or not Brian was in any danger. She didn't know much about her new room mate, and she wasn't sure that Brian was in any immediate danger. She had only just arrived back in Miami and drawing attention to herself wasn't going to boil over so well if she was discovered by the cops.
Someone pushed past her in an attempt to get to the center of the action, her hood fell off in the same movement. She scowled angrily at the guy, and then froze. Blue eyes scanned the crowd looking in her direction.
Letty yanked her hood back up around her face and turned away unsure if Brian had actually seen her. He would have doubted himself anyway; she was suppose to be dead.
Pushing her way back through the crowd the engines revved behind her she would have to talk to Walter after the race.
"See you at the finishline." she muttered under her breath.

Walter jiggled the shifter back and forth in neutral bouncing it between his thumb and pinky, when Brian moved up slowly to the starting line he nodded back and pointed over the steering wheel at the street girl that had her hands raised. It was a game time, his system began blasting Won't back down. His heart began to pace the song as he dropped the car into gear. His body and mind melded with the metal as her arms dropped. It was going to be a tricky race, the GTO was heavier then the Skyline which showed as they gunned off the line, a full hood length behind Brian but he knew his car how long it took to get up to speed. The quarter mile would allow just enough time for him to peak.
"You think you got this Brian? You're wrong..." He thougth thought to himself as he began flipping through gears.

The moment the flag went down the sole of his shoe was as close to the bottom panel as it could without the wheels spinning out. Brian was so used to his Skyline he didn't need to think, he just felt it: The exerleration, the right moment to clutch, how much pressure exactly to put on the the pedals. After only a second he was in the zone becoming one with the machine he was sitting in.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw Joker falling behind slightly. No wonder with the heavy biest he was in. If he didn't pull out any dirty tricks Brian would cross the line first. 7 seconds to go. Who was that person he saw? The thought is gone as fast as his car as he took the lead.

Walter gunned the engine faster, he was keeping up but barely as he reached his peak speed. The race was over and he already knew it but kept his cool despite the hood being barely an inch behind Brians bumper. But that inch was what would determine the race. The '08 was having a hard time keeping up and was starting to get squirrelly, he'd have to get that looked at he thought as they blew through the finish line. Brian had him and it was a strait up race so he had nothing to be mad about.
Calmly he stepped from his car that inch cost him the race and a few grand but nothing that really bugged him. "Well man, you got me. Good race." He walked up and shook his hand then slid a card over to him. "Private line, you can get me any time you want on there it's secure and untraceable. As for helping you, I work for an independent agency that hires out to anyone that has enough money. Feds all the way to the mob. The people that hired me this time around are a brother and sister." He winked, "As I get more info so will you." He was drowned out as people bustled towards them including the man that held Brian's cash.

The buzz he got from winning a race was amazing and never seized to amaze Brian. It never grew old. And it seemed like Joker was a fair looser as well as he came to shake his hand. What he heard next was much better though...a brother and a sister? Brian played with the card between his index and middle finger before shoving it in his back pocket. "I need a name or face." Brian shouted over the crowd that cheered for him. With a smile he turned around to grab the money. "Have you met him?"

It was no surprise to her that Brian won the race. She knew her boyfriend was a good racer, which only made her wanna race him herself even more. Smiling she walked over and kissed Brian on the cheek "Nice job." She then glanced at Joker. Well he didn't cheat but he was involved in the case which kept her on edge around him.

Letty ran with the crowd headed toward the finish line just in time to see Brian win the race with Walter only an inch behind. It was obvious that Brian had it even before the race started his Skyline was the lighter and faster car.
"Why would you race if you knew you were going to lose?" she thought to herself. She saw them shake hands and exchange a few words before the cheering crowd pressed in on them gathering around Brian and Walter drifted away.
Letty shoved her way toward him and caught up with him just as he broke through the crowd, She grabbed his arm and walked with him away from the spectators.
"What the hell was that? Spare me the lecture for following you what do you want with O'Connor?"

Faye heaved in a breath Walter had looked at her for only a moment, and then everything was cold and hard, just the way it had been the first time she had met him. Swallowing she diverted her glass once more, she couldn’t even bring herself to look over at Jack. She could feel heat rising in her cheeks, her dark eyes sparkling with emotion before she pushed it all away. The race was starting and she watched with interest as Brian kissed the blonde.
Licking her lips she moved towards Jack, but only a fraction, her gaze resting on Joker, dark eyes sparkling as she watched the rest. He lost, but not by much, sighing softly to herself she let out a breath, loosing herself in the crowd as it surged towards Brian.

A few racer chasers were disappointed when Mira kissed Brian and he took her in his arm and place a wet smooch on her rosy lips. "I know." He smiled even though it was pretty clear from the start.
He turned to look where Joker had gone while the crowed cheered loudly and almost squashed him in the process. "Thanks guys, appreciated it!" He waved the bills and then wrapped his arm around Mira and led her to the passenger side to roll the car off the street. After he got in and started the engine again he slowly plowed his way through the crowd and caught a glimpse of Joker who was standing not too far away from his car with the person Brian had seen before. Now he could see her outline against the headlights of Jokers car. It was a woman- not too tall. He squinted but couldn't see more. Who was she? She reminded him a little of Letty. Height, built, posture but Letty was dead.

Midconversation Joker was yoinked backwards into the throng of the crowd where he was towed back a ways and turned to face Letty. "It's not so much him that I want anything to do with. His brother has gotten himself into a whole new level of screwed and I'm offering a helping hand." He pulled at his suit straitening it and then smiling. "I lost the race and now I owe him. To me that is more important then a paycheck that could easily be canceled, it's so rare that people keep their word any more and I, fortunately for Brian and Jack, do."
He shot a semi nervous glance over his shoulder back at the crowd that seperated him and Letty from Brian. "I think we need to leave before Brian actually sees you, that would defeat the purpose of people beleiving you're dead...and I saw my ex..." He added the second part under his breath.

Mira noticed Brian staring at the girl. Reaching up she set her hand on his shoulder. "You okay?" She looked at Joker and the new girl. "So are you gonna tell me what that guy has to do with our case?" Her mismatched eyes were full of curiosity as she turned her head to look at Brian. Maybe this guy was the break they needed in the case.

Letty's head spun with all the new information. "Brian's brother?" she asked looking back at the crowd.
Brian was staring straight at them. "Shit, let's go, you're gonna have to break it down for me when we get home." She tugged at the hood around her face, they were standing against the glare of the headlights. Brian would be confused but he wasn't an idiot and they weren't going to stick around to find out.
Walter was just as anxious to get out of here as she was. She walked around the car and got in on the passenger side.

With half open mouth Brian stared at Walter and his companion when Mira asked about him. "A whole lot. Apparently this guy works for the same big shots as Jack and knows a little more. He said they were brother and sister." He now fully turned his attention on her. "Guess what he offered if he looses?"
Not too far away behind a group of people he spotted Jack and Faye. So he took Mira's hand and lead her over to them. "Faye, who was that with Walter?"

So we are dealing with two people not just one...That makes things a little more difficult." She frowned a little. Things were hard enough just dealing with one boss. Now having to find two was going to be almost impossible. "What? Did he offer information on the siblings?" The thought of finally having more of a lead excited her. If he had reliable information that could help their investigation a ton.
She her hold on Brian's hand tightened alittle when he lead her over to Jack and Faye.

Amongst the crowd, Jack stood with a lit cigarette hanging casually from his lips as he watched the race go down, an uncharacteristic disinterest in his eyes. He had told Brian he could go fuck himself if they couldn't be civil towards each other for five minutes (yes, he had realized the irony in his choice of words). His brother had gone out of his way to make sure he knew how Brian felt about the younger O'Conner, and he hadn't appreciated the underlying message. He already knew he was scum without big bro pointing it out.
As the race ended, he turned around, huffing out a cloud of smoke as he half limped his way back to the old Challenger. He sat down on the hood of the car and rubbed a hand over his messed-up leg, wincing slightly at the jolt of pain it caused. Had he gone through with racing his brother himself, he would have sucked ass. It was painstakingly clear by now, not to mention bad for his mood.
He looked up with a bit of a scowl as Brian approached with that little blonde chick in tow. "Probably some airhead who digs that whole 'hitman' skit he's got going for himself. Who cares, bro?" He grumbled before his eyes moved on to the blonde girl, whatever her name was. He'd notice she had been glancing on and off towards him during the race, and she looked pretty damn nervous now. 'Brian sure knows how to pick them.' he snorted mentally.

Brian saw the sour look on Jacks face and blamed it on him winning. He couldn't help but enjoy the sweet after taste of victory. Having his brother witness it made it twice as good. While he stepped up to him he smirked mischievously . "That's how it's done, sis."
Then he turned around to see whether Joker and the strange girl were gone. They had vanished to who knew where.
Lowering his voice he came closer to Faye and Jacks ears. "Guess what we were racing for? Never mind. He owes me information about his boss. Lucky for you he knows a little more than you do. This could possibly get you off the hook." His eyes were sparkling with excitement. If Joker's information helped Jack could possibly get away without going on the street and no longer be in immediate danger. Briefly he cast a glance at Faye to make sure she had caught that important bit of information. It was what she wanted after all.
