"If you want me to help you you better treat me that way and the same goes for your girlfriend." Brian wasn't screaming any more but still pretty loud and he didn't like the fact that Jack had turned his back on him. On top of that Miss lawyer was poking her head out now. She apologized but Brian didn't feel it was sincere. There was too much resentment against him and cops in general so he didn't comment but saved it for another time.
"This goes against everything I beleive in and I'm risking my job on top of that." Angrily he kicked against the wall. This situation was making him really angry. It had taken some getting over himself to even look at the impound list and smuggle it out of the office. That alone made him feel like a criminal. Why was he doing that if his brother still wanted to treat him like shit? Then again Brian didn't want Jack to get busted although he was tempted to slap some cuffs on him right now anyway.
"You better appreciate that I'm turning a blind eye on you and on top of that am trying to help you because if I don't you'll be in serious trouble, little brother. There's no way you can finish your task without the..." He cut himself off because he didn't want anybody else to hear Jack's plan and what he himself was getting involved in. "...I'll be happily busting your ass before your big boss even gets his hands on you. I promise you that!" His tone had become less loud but threatening.

Jack hung his head and let out a breath. Brian was still angry, he had every right to, what with his job on the line and all, but Jack was as Jack was, and.. yeah. "Do you think I don't know that? You think I would have come to you if I had any other choice?! Ever since you left to play cop I've hated your fucking guts, man!.. But you're still the only one I can trust.." He finally turned back around to face Brian again. His revelation, though maybe not all friendly, was an honest one. Despite his brother being a pig, Brian was the only one he could think of who would have his back in this, through and through.
He clamped his mouth shut when Faye came outside. He waited as she apologized, keeping silent all the way, up until her last words. Damn, she was a sneaky one.. "There is no 'we' involved, Faye. Not for you, not when it comes to this." He didn't care whether he had agreed to her help in this or not. In fact, he couldn't remember his answer at all. All he could remember was.. well.. But whether she had been able to pull a 'yes' out of him then, his answer now was back to 'no' and 'no fucking way'.
His eyes turned back on to his brother and his brow furrowed. "I do fucking appreciate it, Brian. But this isn't about patting you on the back for helping or whacking me upside the head for being a dick. This is about getting this job done. And when it is, I'll be out of your damn life and you'll never have to see my sorry ass again, alright?" He was as serious as Brian was, but if Brian wanted to keep on playing the big responsible brother instead of putting his money where his mouth was, then they might as well part ways now. He'd find some other way to get the inside information he needed, or hell, he'd do it without if he was left with no other choice.

Brian wasn't quite sure whether to be flattered or insulted by Jacks revelation. At least he told him what he really thought and Brian appreciated that. He had never hidden the fact that he hated Jacks criminal activities either.
When Jack told his girlfriend that he didn't want her involved he actually started to have a little bit of respect for him.
He was a little calmer after Jack's speech. "Listen. I don't want you out of my life, I just want you to lead yours in a way that you're not risking jail or being killed by some Mafia boss. Beleive it or not. I'd like to see you be happy."
Hesitant he felt the pieces of paper in his pocket and eyed Faye again. Was she sincere? probably not. She was angry about Brian going up against her brother and she was somewhat right. His fingers closed around the pieces of paper and he pulled them out and held them out to Jack. When he brother reached for them Brian added. "Just in case I don't get to do this later because somebody else is faster." His left fist shot up and hammered his brother right in the face. That did releif some pressure and made him feel a bit better.

Jack snorted. Happy. Didn't he look happy? Happy with the shit hole he lived in, happy with the long houred job he was holding down, and happy with the bills they could barely pay off... Hell, he was fucking ecstatically happy! He hadn't taken this job for fun, or because he wanted to take the fast and (not so) easy way out of his situation. He had taken it because he was done watching rich people get richer, and poor people (mainly him) get poorer. He had simply taken it as his chance to fuck them all over and turn the tables in his favor. Noble? Maybe not, but who gave a shit.
He watched as Brian pulled out the torn up pieces of paper. He could feel a tinge of something, gratitude maybe? well up. His brother finally seemed to come around and get down off his high horse. Whether he could push his luck later, ask for more help, he'd have to see, but for now he was glad to take at least the list. He reached for it and before he could comprehend the words Brian was adding, his head whipped to the side and pain shot through his mouth as he stumbled backwards a bit from the force behind the hit. What the..
He lifted his hand up and touched his mouth as he moved his jaw against the burning sensation. A small smudge of blood came back on his fingertips when he lifted them higher. Fucking bastard.. His tongue briefly licked the remaining blood away from the corner of his mouth as his eyes moved from his hand and back up to his brother. "I hope that made you feel better..." Because next time he would hit back, and he would hit back hard.
He looked down at the pieces of paper in his hand. They were big and torn straight enough for him to tape back together and be able to read the list. He knew Brian had risked his own ass to even give it to him. The cops would be looking at his brother when more than one of these cars disappeared from the lot. "Thanks.."He mumbled, despite the fist he had received to his face.

Brian had fully expected Jack to grab him by the throat or hit back the blast never came instead an absolutely unexpected apology. "It did make me feel better." He replied honestly and rubbed his knuckles. The thank you for some reason makes him feel like he's doing the right thing. At least for a few moments. "Welcome." Now he didn't know what to add...good luck...have fun...take care? "I hope you get your ass out of that sling in one piece." Brian nodded to his brother and then Faye before he turned and the left the two behind.
He had to get out of this shit hole before he reconsidered his actions and ripped the paper right out of Jack's fingers.

If there was one thing that Faye hated it was being ignore, Brian hadn’t even acknowledged that she had spoken to him let alone acknowledged the apology, that grated on her nerves and quiet frankly showed her exactly what type of person Brian was, shaking her head she continued to lean against the wall, dark eyes flicking over towards Jack with slight annoyance. “And ill repeat not asking for your permission” She stated with a shake of her head. Jack was smart, granted, and he was fast but something like this needed a womanly touch and if he thought that who ever had approached him wouldn’t know about her, and wouldn’t drag her into it any way he was foolish.
Sighing she tuned the conversation out, Jack knew they, yes they were in over their head, otherwise he wouldn’t have gone to his cop brother in the first place, and if that piece of paper was what she thought it was then it was gonna help in the long run.
She huffed out a breath and readied to turn until she heard the familiar sound of skin on skin. Dark eyes turned wide as she spun just in time to see Brian lowering his fist and Jack pressing fingers against his bloody lip. With a raised brow she stood waiting to see what Jack was gonna do, more then a little surprised when she saw him just stand there.
With narrowed eyes she watched him leave and then turned concerned eyes towards Jack, “Your brothers a dick” She muttered brushing a hand through her hair, “You okay baby” She questioned with a raised brow, gaze wandering down to his lip.

Jack huffed as he watched Brian walk away. He would get his ass out in one piece alright. He was resourceful enough and not as stupid as he sometimes acted. His eyes turned back on Faye and his jaws tensed at her words. "Fine, Faye. Do whatever the fuck you want. See if I care." He was angry and it sounded through his voice. He wasn't angry at her per say though. Yes, he did know she had looked through some of his files on his laptop and knew she would force her way in to his business some how sooner or later. She was about as stubborn and pigheaded as he was, and maybe that was one of the reasons why he was so attracted to her, she could handle him, but he would deal with her later, again, when he didn't feel like putting his fist through something or someone.
He trailed his tongue over his busted lip before he shrugged. His brother was a dick, but so was he, and an even bigger one when he wanted to be. It ran in the O'Conner family he figured. "I'm fine. He still hasn't learned how to hit like at least a woman, let alone a man." He mumbled as he shoved the torn pieces of paper in his ass pocket. That was one thing she was not going to get her hands on.
He moved towards her and placed a quick kiss to her lips before he moved passed her. "I'll be outside if you need me." He had left the Evo unattended on the jack stands for far too long already. The kids in the neighborhood were somewhat trustworthy enough, sure, but that didn't mean someone else wouldn't take the opportunity when they saw one. Either way, he needed to finish the job on the exhaust system and get the car back to the storage he was renting just for the Evo half a block away. Maybe he could even get some anger out on the old exhaust.
He walked downstairs and in to the hot Miami sun once more to make his way out back where the Evo was still safely standing.

She watched Jack leave, she knew the signs, and wasn’t a fool he was angry, and going after him right now wasn’t going to do anything other then piss him of even more, and this time it would turn into a screaming match. Licking her lips she let out a breath, her dark eyes fluttering closed as she stepped into their apartment. Sighing she dropped her back and keys on the table by the door and then trudged to the bathroom.
By the time she eased herself out of the bath and into her room to dry and dress it was already getting dark. Brushing her hair into a bobble she slipped into jeans and a tee and then into some shoes. With keys in hand she headed down stairs.
Jack hadn’t come in she just hoped he was in a better mood then he was before. Dark eyes wandered over to his form, and she leant against the wall simply watching him for a moment before approaching him.
“So my cars completely dead” She stated softly, it was safer talking about how her car had died on her then the job Jack obviously didn’t want her apart of. “Hopefully races can give us enough to get a spare, cant rely on you for work and school” She stated with a small hint of laughter in her voice.

Jack had finished replacing the old exhaust with the new one long before the evening had started to set in, and by now he was sitting on the ground against one of the front wheels of the Evo. The old exhaust lay in several pieces somewhere near him, the concrete showing he had clearly vented some of his anger on both the inanimate objects. Brian had been a dick for telling him how to lead his life, an ever bigger one for hitting him, and what made matters worse, he hadn't hit back.. On top of that, his girl was stubborn as she was beautiful, wanting in on a job he felt was too dangerous for her.
He barely noticed her approach until he heard Faye's soft voice. He leaned his head back against his car, closing his eyes for a moment. "So you already told me." He mumbled before he stood up and ran a hand over the back of his neck, softly popping the tension out of his muscles. Lying under a car for a certain portion of the day certainly didn't come with any comforts.
"I don't want to hear it, Faye." His eyes met hers as he dropped his hand back down to his side. It was clear what he was talking about, and it wasn't about the piece of crap that had died on her. He knew her well enough to know needing a replacing car wasn't the reason she came out here. With her knowing there was a chance he was still pissed off, it was obvious she was only testing the waters first.
"You say you don't need my permission on this job, right? So fucking do it, Faye. Hell, surprise me. Show me I'm wrong for telling you 'no' in the first place." He mumbled as he bent to grab the few tools still lying on the concrete, tossing them back in tool chest. No, he still hadn't completely cleared his anger, and maybe he shouldn't take the remaining out on her. But at the moment he couldn't find the energy to care.

Faye rose a brow, his words had been clipped he was looking right through her bullshit and knew exactly why she was out here, and exactly why she was starting with what she had started with. Licking her lips she sighed, crossing a hand over her chest, the wind blowing around her neck, sending a chill down her spine. Drawing her lower lip between her teeth and let out a deep sigh, her dark eyes sparkling in semi annoyance with the tone he was taking with her. Yes he hadn’t yelled, yes he hadn’t snapped, but there was an angry growl to his words.
Sighing she shook her head, watching him for a moment, “Jack im not asking for you to let me in , in, im just saying let me in the more subtle things”
With a breath she stepped over towards him, smoothing her fingers up over his back, he was tense, she could feel it in every fibre. Licking her lips she let out a breath, pressing a kiss to the middle of his back. “If you really don’t want me in on this baby then ill sit out of it” Her arms wrapped around his body, resting against him.
Faye was stubborn yes, but she wasn’t stupid, Jack was her life and she didn’t want to have him pissed at her for the next god knows how long, especially with work and class, they’d both be living in a constant battle, “Just don’t push me out okay”

Jack felt the kiss against his back before her arms wrapped around his body, her chest resting against his back. He let out a breath as he forced himself to relax, force some of the tension out of his muscles, even if he managed to do so for only a little bit. Sure, she wasn't asking him to let her in on the job completely, she was asking to let her in only for subtle things, but even the smallest involvements came with risk. She of all people would know that, she was studying to become a lawyer after all.. and no, he didn't fail to see the irony there when he looked at his own so called career choice.
He half smiled at her words while his hands moved to rest on top of hers "I know you, Faye. No matter what you, or even I say, you can't just sit on the sidelines." He mumbled before he gently pulled her around him to his front. He took a step forward to crowd her against the side of his Evo as his hand cupped her chin, tilting her face up to have her look up at him.
"I'm not pushing you out of anything, ok?" His eyes darted between hers as he looked at her intently. "But I won't stand for myself if anything happens to you because of me, because of this job." His hand moved to brush his thumb over her cheek before he pressed his lips against hers. Surely she should know by now he wasn't holding her out of the job because he liked being a dick, he was holding her out because he loved her. Hell, she was the main reason he had taken the fucking job in the first place. He'd raise even hell just to make her happy, to get her out of this shithole.

He tugged her around until she was pressed against him, and his pride and joy, her dark eyes sparkled as she looked up at him. It had taken a lot of work between the two of them. Jack was as good looking as he was stubborn, and he had a hell of a lot of walls. Breaking them down had been tough, she didn’t want him to close himself of from her again.
Swallowing she lifted a hand smoothing it over the side of his cheek as she lost herself into the kiss, “I know baby” She looked at him, letting him know that she wasn’t just talking about him not wanting her to get hurt but that he was doing this mostly for her…them.
Smiling slightly she pressed herself against him, “But I cant stand by and let you get hurt if something goes wrong” She whispered. She was a lawyer yes, but she was Leon’s brother and she had spent most of her life being pushed around. She wasn’t gonna let it happen to her, or to any one she cared about.
Drawing him to her, she pressed her forehead against his, “Now get your car secure and get your ass inside, your tense” Nipping at his bottom lip she used her lower half to push him away from her, sliding out from between him and his car.
“And I have the perfect solution” With a wink and a playful pat of his butt she headed back towards the apartment.
