"I got hooked up on it." He grinned. "RB26 in it too."
He got out his doritos again as the two started taking about Japanese chocolate. "I wanna run you sometime tonight for fun, Manako. I need to get my drift game back up."

"Sure go ahead have the box I have more at my place." Manako said as he handed her the box. Manako looked at Cole, smiled and answered "Sure Cole I would love to race you tonight. How about right now my friend?"

Bayleight took the box, "Thanks," she smiled as she set the box in her car. She listened to the two boys talk, making sure not to mention that she races. She wasn't sure yer how she felt with Manako.

"Lets roll, Cole walked back over to where Bayleigh was standing and said quietly. "If you want to run at all tonight you can take the Silvia, it is your car after all." He grinned and slid into the driver seat of the S15 to check all the vitals. "Lead the way, Manako." He called over to the R34.

Manako hoped into his R34 and headed to the start line. As he pulled up to the line the race director asked "What's the wager?" Manako answered with a smile "No wager just fun." the Race Director looked at Manako then shrugged his shoulders and walked away waiting for Cole to drive up.

Bayleigh smiled at Cole and nodded before he left. She had to admit, she enjoyed the Silvia when she drove it home before telling Cole she had it. She continued to lean against her G as she watched the two race.

As the S15 pulled even with the R34, Cole rolled down the window and turned his head towards the Skyline. "You're about to find out I'm not much of a drifter compared to the real ones." He laughed. "Show me how it's done, dragon." He rolled up the window and notched the shifter into first, waiting for the race to start.
Within a few moments they were under way, the R34 out-pulled the Silvia into the first corner, and Cole slotted in line before tossing the wheel to the left then right to throw the backend out, grabbed the e-brake and did a little clutch-kick to put the back of the car into a nice tail slide, side by side with the Skyline.

After the two cars drifted around the first corner there was a medium straight away. Manako began to pull away. As they came to the S-curves Manako slowed down a bit and made a four wheel drift into the first part of the S-corner and before entering the second portion of the S-curves he Inertia Drifted through it. As he came out of the corner he gunned it towards the next corner. As he came close to the next corner, which was a hairpin turn, he then braked and as he turned he heel toed shifted into the drift. As he got through the turn he looked for Cole in the rear view.

Keeping up with Manako's Skyline was like trying to make a block of wood keep up in a soapbox derby race. Nonetheless, the S15 hung in there and Cole had a small opportunity at the last corner before the line. He aggressively threw the S15 into the last corner, back end just about leading the front end, and managed to get a fender on Manako's door. However, the suspension was too unsettled for the move, and Cole getting back to the gas excessively early didn't help. The car's back skidded far too much and Cole just about lost the handle, but gathered it back up. He crossed the line about a car length behind Manako. "Guy knows how to slide." Cole said to himself.

BayLeigh watched the boys, she shook her head as she watched Cole's driving. She looked around trying to keep her itch for hopping behind the wheel away. She didn't want to show anything yet, to anyone here. Cole had seen her, but thats about the only person who knew she could race. She finished her chocolate bar and walked around to the back of her car, staying close to her car while she looked everywhere. She waited for both boys to come back.

Cole and Manako rolled back over to their original spots and parked quickly, smoke streaming out slowly from the rear fenders of both cars. "Nice job, man." Cole said as he climbed out of the Silvia and inspected the rear tire wear. The tires looked fine for another few runs. He needed to apply a few things he picked up from following Manako to another race tonight. For now, he tossed the keys to Bayleigh. "Take her whenever you need her."

Grabbing the keys from Cole, Bayleigh smiled. She had just over heard some punk talking about her. Essentially saying how she was like most the girls gere, all show. He was sure she didn't even know what was even on her car, if it even had any performance parts. She shook her head and spoke quietly, "punk." After a minute she walked over to the director. She pointed to the Silvia then to the punk, she handed over a grand and walked back to the car, ready to show the guy her skills she learned living in Japan.

As Manako leaned against the side of his car and watched Bayleigh walk to the director and hand him a grand. For some reason Manako was intrigued about her. "So Cole whats the story about Bayleigh? For some reason I'm getting this weird sense that she is hiding more than she letting on." Manako asked as he watched Bayleigh return to the Silvia.

Bayleigh got into the Silvia and waited for the director to inform the other guy of the race. She pulled the car up to the line, waiting to see his Civic roll up next to her. She smiled and waved at him as he rolled his eyes. She rev'ed up the engine waiting for the girl with the flags to walk between them and wave the flags straight down, signalling the beginning of the race. Bayleigh let the Civic take off, she knew the first curve wasn't far, once she took off she kept up with the Civic. Once the curve came into view she took the inside of the road, pulling the e-brake as she approached it, at the same time she switched gears, gliding the car to the curve, she watched as the Civic tapped the wall on the outside.
Once out of the curve she dropped the e-brake and shifted back to gain speed in the straight away, the Civic was trailing behind her. As the s-curve came into view Bayleigh checked on the Civic behind her, she down shifted and hit the brake, turning the wheel back and forth as she passed though the s-curve, the Civic falling behind she smiled. The last curve was a sharp one coming up, and she knew she had to hit it just right to not hit the wall, she expected the Civic would. As she kept driving she saw it coming, she hit the brakes, down shifting quickly and turned the wheel to the left, the car sliding, she gripped the wheel hoping she'd keep control of it, once out of the curve she flipped the wheel the opposite way, feeling the car back in control she looked behind her, the Civic had side swiped the wall.
She pulled up at the end of the race, taking the money from the director. She watched as the guy got out of his Civic to inspect the damage, once he started cursing she smiled and put the car in gear, driving back to where her's was with Manako's, she parked the Silvia and sat in it for a minute.

Cole was caught off guard a little by the question, but now that he mentioned it, she did seem quiet. "She's an engineer for Nissan, works internationally." He shrugged. "You know about as much as I do beyond that." He said telling a half-truth half-lie.
Cole sat in silence watching Bayleigh drift. He figured he'd better get with the program on this drifting thing before these two embarrassed him too much. He was beginning to think that they were the only guys who could actually put up a decent run around here. Bayleigh's competitor was driving a civic for god sake. You'd be better off trying to drift an escalade than that front wheel drive ricer.
Once Bayleigh pulled in, Cole patted the roof of the car. "Nice run." He complimented Bayleigh, then noticed a crowd of people gathering around them. Apparently the only S15 in the lot was pretty intriguing.

"Nissan Engineer huh. Thats actually pretty cool." Manako said as he walked over to the Silvia with Cole and was impressed with Bayleigh's drifting. Then Manako noticed a large crowd gathering around them. "Jesus make a punk cry at drifting and the whole neighborhood shows up. And this brings me back to my days of drifting in Japan." Manako said smiling.

Bayleigh smiled as she looked up at Cole. "Thanks," she spoke as she got out of the car. She looked at the crowd gathering around them. She looked between Cole and Manako before handing the keys bqck to Cole. "I should stay off the road for now," she shook her head.

Cole took the keys and gave Bayleigh a weird glance. "Since when were you so shy from driving?" He tried to read her look a little to determine what was up. His eyes went back over to the crowd to see exactly what these guy's problems were.

"I'm not at home anymore Cole. I can drive just fine in Japan but I don't need the attention here." She spoke slightly low. There was a familiar face in the crowd but she couldn't remember who it was. She watched quietly as people started asking about the Silvia. She looked at Manako then moved over to her car, grabbing one of the chocolate bars.

What Bayleigh said didn't make a lot of sense to him, other than there were things that were beyond his knowledge. "Eh, people around here don't really care about who's who. They'll remember you for the rest of the night but that's it." He shrugged.
Predictably, one of the guys from the crowd stepped up to Cole and started quizzing him on the S15. Finally, he asked to him a race against his new 370z. Cole accepted, and the put a grand on it. Time to put a few techniques he picked up from following Manako to use. "I'll be back in a few minutes guys." Cole said as he sat down in the Silvia and started the Skyline motor.
For once in a long time, this guy actually seemed respectable and wasn't a total jerk off, but seemed pretty confident in himself and his tuned 370. Once the two cars left the line, the power of the 370z out-pulled the stock RB26. 'Seriously gotta get some mods on this thing.' Cole thought to himself as the first corner approached. He tucked in behind the 370 and worked on getting a decent position on him for the s-corner. Once the s-corner came into sight, Cole let off a little early and rotated the car late, so to get a late apex and as a result a good run for the switchback turn. The Silvia's back end went right up against the wall with the rear tires locked and when the moment was right, he downshifted to 2nd, pegged the engine to redline and dropped the clutch, resulting in a smokey but fast drift that pulled him to the inside of the Z for the next corner. As the cars entered the final part of the s-section, Cole had the preferred line and simple out-broke the Z and washed the car up the track to get a decent exit, the 370 now in his mirror instead of windshield. Out front, Cole started to get a bit of a rhyme going and finished off the rest of the track smoothly and in total control. As he result, he got the win by about a car length and felt a feel of relief that he had finally won a proper drift race, something he never considered himself that great at.
Once he got his winnings he made his way back over to their spot and got out of the car with a fist-pump. "That feels good."
