Brian now knew that he really stood a chance since the guy was chickening out. Why else would he turn down seemingly easy cash? "That sounds like you've left your balls at home, buddy!" He smirked at him wisely. Then he shrugged and pulled out the rest of Jack 500 bucks, which was ridiculous in racing circles.
Out of the corner of his eyes he watched the end of a race, which made him turn his head. The driver of the leading car was putting some pretty impressive skills on display. His eyes widened when he realized who was just about to win. No wonder the mob wanted Cole. He was the best thing since sliced cheese around.
Then he turned back to Manako. "So, you want some real competition or are you just here for the show?"

Manako looked at Brian and said "Well I am looking for better competition ever since I moved here from Japan. But the only person capable of keeping up with me is Cole." Then Manako just stood there looking at the ground thinking of the day him and Cole raced. He then snapped out of his trance and said as he extended his hand in greating "oh sorry I forgot to introduce myself my name is Manako Sora. And your name is?"

Brian shook his hand with a cocky smile. "Just call me the guy who will leave both you and Cole in the dust." He was way to eager to race Manako now. This could be dangerous because he needed to keep his cool if he really wanted to stand a chance. After all the EVO belonged to Jack and he wasn't as familiar with it as he was with his lost Skyline. At least he knew exactly what Manokos car was capable off if he didn't modify it too much. "If you win, I'll give you my money and my name, how's that?" This was way too much fun to stop. If the guy didn't take his offer Brian needed to find another decent racer to finally get back on the tarmac.

Manako looked at Brian and said "Alright you have a deal." Then Manako walked back to his car and got into it and started it up. The Purr of the engine made Manako smile. Then Manako drove up to the Race Line and handed the race director $300 and waited for Brian to arrive.

The fact that he was driving Jack's car without asking permission bothered Brian little to not at all. How many times had his brother taken something that belonged to him and screwed it up? And Brian didn't plan on screwing up.
The engine was still warm so he simply rolled up to the start and got out to hand his cash over. The ex-cop was excited to get back into the game to say the least. It had been way to long and he figured he could really use some cash.
The guy he handed him the money did a double take when he saw him and asked. "Brian?" Of course he knew the guy because both of them had been around the Cali race scene for a good 8 years. "Yep. What's up?" The guy gave him a friendly clap on the shoulder and cheered. "Wow, I thought you'd be in a rocking chair somewhere.
Brian snorted. "Funny, bro. Just hold my cash for me for a moment until I come back for mine and his." The red haired guy nodded. "let's see whether you still got it."
Brian thought the same thing when he wrapped his fingers tightly around the steering wheel and stick while he was waiting for the half naked chicks arms to come down.
For a moment he looked over at Manako and nodded, then focussed on the road again.

Manako revved his engine a few times waiting for the chick to drop her arms. Then the chick drops her arms and the race was on. Manako shifted into first and gained a head start. Every shift Manako did was a perfect shift. As he came upon the first corner he shifted and drifted around the corner. As he cleared the corner Manako looked in his rear view to see if the Evo was still behind him.

Brian wasn't used to Jack's clutch and didn't get the start off the line he wanted so he geared down fast at the first corner and decided to take it as narrow as he could because Manako had drifted and left him enough space to squeeze by on the inside.
Coming out of the corner the were nose by nose so Brian put the pedal to the metal until his rpms were perfect to gear up again. His brother had to have put a lot of his spare cash into his baby because it shot forward. The velocity had adrenalin pumping through Brian's veins. He turned the wheel a little to the left towards Manakos fender. If the guy didn't want to get run off the road he had to let off the gas.
Another turn was coming up and Brian did his best to not leave any space on the inside.

As they came to the next turn Manako slowed down while down shifting and took the turn but had to take the outside so Manako didn't drift the corner this time but cleared the corner. But instead of being in the lead Manako lost some ground. So Manako stepped on the gas and tried to hit every shift perfectly. this straight was a medium straight so Manako had enough time to get beside the Evo. As they came up onto the next turn which was a hard left turn Manako braked and down shifted and turned into the corner and drifted into it. After coming out of the corner Manako gained the lead. As he pedal to the metal and shifted everytime it came Manako started gaining more ground with the Evo trailing behind.

There weren't many drivers who could surprise Brian but this guy did and the power his was putting on display wasn't to be neglected. He excellerated as much as he could coming bumper to bumper but the ex-cop knew that his only chance would be the last turn before a long straight to the finish line. At first he quickly went to the right pretending to pass the Asian on the poutside but then he aggressively cut into the turn on the other side of the other driver to pass Manako on the inside once more. Everytime they took a corner Brian was able to get ahead and this time hopefully wouldn't be any different. He was lucky. Despite his tires gracing the curb he shot ahead of him when he came out of it and took the lead on the long stretch. Now it was a matter of adequat shifting and power. The finish line was getting closer and closer and Brian supressed a grin. "C'mon, baby!" He cheered Jacks car on. Out of the corner of his eye he could see Manako advancing. Hopefully he wouldn't make it to the line first. Another split second and they shot across it side by side. Brian's head whirled around because he had no idea who crossed it first! He slid to a halt and jumped out with the engines till running hoping for a result.

As both cars cross the finish Manako stops his car and gets out. He looks at Brian then looks at the Race director, who looked excited, walking towards them. "I have no idea who won. So here is your money back." the Race director said as he handed Manako and Brian their money back. Then Manako walks over to Brian and said smiling"You drive really good man. and it was nice racing you."

Cole admittedly was a little too busy soaking in the glory from his last big win. Even winning one of those Porsche GT3 Cup races didn't provide as much excitement as this. So he never really noticed Manako's race until his Skyline and an Evo that looked very familiar crossed the line pretty much dead even. He got a little closer and to the staging area and saw a tall dirty blonde guy step out of the seat. Really? What in god's name was Brian doing here? Then a more subtle thought crossed his mind. What if Stephano saw that race? 'Shit.' Cole thought to himself and returned to his normal parking spot by Stephano's big black Lincoln.
His concerns about Brian's potential future were interrupted when suddenly that Lamborghini Gallardo he had just raced rolled up to his spot along with a few very well dressed gentlemen. This wasn't a rival mob, was it? Finally one of the men spoke in a pretty thick Italian accent. "You think you beat us and walk away? No, rematch, million dollar." The Italian challenged, did he mean a race for a million? He looked in Stephano's direction to gauge his reaction.

Manako then Walked away from Brian and headed to look for Cole. He then found Cole over near Stephano. As he began going towards them when another gentleman walks over to them and begins talking to Cole. Manako was close enough to overhear that the guy want a rematch. Manasko then walks up and looks at Cole and said "Hey Cole." Then the other guy looks at Manako and said "Your the guy who won against the Viper." Manako then said "Yeah what about it." "Well lets have a Tag Team race for 1 million each. So want to race?" the guy looks at Both Cole and Manako and smiled. Manako then looks at Cole and Stephano to see their reactions.

The fact that the race was a tie both pleased Brian and aggrovated him. When he received his money back he scolded the man, who handed it to him. "You should know who won!" Nevertheless he turned around and congratulated Manako with a slap on the shoulder. "Yeah, good race, man."
A little further over he spotted Cole looking towards them and gave him a short nod. It satisfied him to know that Cole saw the race and knew that Brian still had it.
Of course there was a plan behind all this. If Cole's employer realized Cole wasn't the best driver out there before he lost too much money he might drop him without hurting him.

Hearing the idea of a million dollar race had Stephano beside himself. "One million dollars'" he muttered under his breath. He drove his hands into his pockets and started pacing about the car. After finishing the second lap around, Stephano reached for the latch on the trunk. After fiddeling around in the compartment for a good minute or so Stephano emerged with multiple stacks of money.
"Mr. Peyton here is an additional 400,000 dollars bring you to half a million." Without pause he turned to Mr. Sora and spoke. "My apologies Mr. Sora, but I have no idea how much money you have won tonight, so here is 450,000 dollars bringing your orginal total to a half a million" Taking a short pause Stephano glared intently to the man wishing to race. Switching his glance he faced both Mr. Sora and Mr. Peyton and spoke again.
"Now listen here, the both of you! I swear to god if you lose this race both of you not live to see TOMORROW! Understand!?

If there was one consolation to Stephano's threats. Cole did have 550,000 thousand stashed away from the previous race he won. Nevertheless, his ominous statement didn't do anything to calm his nerves.
Without a word he took the stacks and counted half a million for his share into the race. As he waited for Manako to do the same, he started the R35 and checked all the boost lines and computer settings. Of all races, this was not one to have something go wrong.

Manako counted the money while walking towards his Skyline. He then got into his Skyline and started his car. Manako then drove towards the staging area. As he got to the staging area Manako handed the Race Director his stack of cash. Now all he had to do was wait for Cole and the Lambo Team to pull up.

Fairly satisfied that everything was good to go on his whip, he followed Manako's trail to the staging area and then pulled along beside him. "I say you take the first stint, and I'll take the second. If they run their Gallardo the first one you'll destroy him, and if they run the Murcielago first then I think your best suited to take him." Cole then watched the pair lambos pull behind, both revving their engines unnecessarily high.

"Right," Manako said as he and Cole watch the two Lambo's pull up. Then the two drivers get out and walk over to Cole and Manako. Both drivers hand the Race Director their money. The Driver of the Murcielago looks at both Cole and Manako and asked "Which one of you is running against me first?" Manako looks at the guy with calm in his voice and said "That would be me. I'll be driving the black Skyline you see there." the guy looks at Manako and starts laughing "Your not serious right? A Ricer versus my Exotic. Your going to lose." Manako looks at the guy and smiled "You know its not the car that you should be worried about." Then the guy begins laughing harder before saying "Well lets see you prove it."
As Manako walked to his car and got in. He began revving his engine. The Murcielago pulls up to the line and begins revving. Then an extremely attractive woman stands between the two cars and raises her hands. Both cars were ready.

Cole couldn't help but laugh when the lambo driver started trashing Manako's skyline. 'If only he knew what that thing was capable of.' He thought to himself. For being as rich as they were, they sure seemed retarded.
Cole along with the Gallardo were parked alongside the start line, in typical tag team style racing. The Gallardo driver kept trying to get into Cole's head, saying how his buddy's Murcielago was going to stomp on the R34. "Dude, you have no idea what he's got under that hood. It's running well over 1000 horses." Cole stated once he got sick of hearing it. This put a noticeable worry on the punk's face until he shrugged it off and called bullshit, causing Cole to further laugh. This could very well be an easier race than one might expect.
He watched the two cars bolt off the start line, seeing Manako get a good jump on the Murc, and with a nervous walk he climbed into his R35 and strapped in.

Manako took the lead with the Murcielago right behind him. They began speeding down the straight As they came to the first turn Manako down shifted and drifted into the corner, clearing it. As Manako came out of the turn he noticed the Murcielago tooked the turn at the same speed as Manako but didn't drift into it. Well time to see if he can keep up Manako thought as he stepped on the gas speeding towards the next turn. As they came to the next turn Manako didn't shift down this time but kept it in fourth gear and grip turned into the corner. As he began turning into the corner the Murcielago was right behind taking the turn at the same pace as Manako. When Manako saw this he began smiling and said to himself "Well now I hope your tyres can last during the race." As Manako exited the turn with his foot still on the gas he began shifting up on a long straight away the Murcielago slingshot around him. Manako looked at the driver of the Murcielago as the car began driving pass. Manako then looked back forward and started laughing and thought to himself A bit early to pass. As they came to the turn around the Murcielago slowed down so much that Manako turned toward the outside and began drifting around the Murcielago and drifted into the turn around. As he came out of the turn around Manako stepped on the gas and began to pull ahead from the Murcielago, which had just gotten out of the turn around.
As the race Director stood at the line waiting for the two cars come back, the radio he was holding kicked on and a one of the other race directors began saying "This is the turn around and your not going to believe this. But the murcielago just got passed by the Skyline in the turn around." then the Head race director asked "What do you mean?" Then the radio kick on again "Well the Murcielago slowed down a lot to take the turn. Well the Skyline it... it drifted around the Murcielago while taking the turn around without slowing down or nothing." then the race director replied "Are you kidding that's impossible? Tell me the truth." Then the other director replied "I... I am. I... I can't explain it, bro."
As Manako took the same turns again back to the finish, he looked in his rear view and didn't see the Murcielago. As he came upon the final stretch after the final turn he began smiling. Then Manako seeing the finish line shifted into 6th gear and sped towards the finish line.
