Jack leaned against the front of his Evo, raising his hand to shield the lighter's flame against the small breeze while he lit the cigarette hanging from his lips. Even from watching on the side lines, he could feel the tense air hanging around his brother, which no doubt had something to do with the strange exchange between him, Cole and the expensive-looking suit. Yeah, he knew the type. They were trouble, though the money they offered for seemingly easy jobs was often tempting. That was, until you fucked up and you found yourself strapped to a chair in an abandoned warehouse, missing a finger or two. Not that he had first-hand experience (no pun intended) with that, but he'd heard the stories, seen the consequences...
"Looking for an easy, though painful way to shorten your life?" he asked when Brian finally reached him. Either that, or his brother had inhaled too much exhaust fumes tonight. Jack had always thought he was the dumbest, most risk-taking idiot of the family, but clearly he was wrong and a lot had shifted over the last years.
"I swear, man. If you bring trouble to my doorstep, you and I are not related," he joked with an easy grin while he blew out some smoke. Ah, the times it had been the other way around. Of course he would have his brother's back if need be, just like Brian used to have his.

With a deep frown Brian reached Jack and his EVO. At least he hadn't driven off and ditched him after 'borrowing' his ride and money without asking. There was a certain satisfaction on Jack's face, which told Brian that he had been watching and was now enjoying that either Brian hadn't won or that he hadn't accomplished to talk Cole out of being a mob puppet on a string.
"Looking for an easy, though painful way to shorten your life?" Jack's voice was dripping with sarcasm. "Don't need that with you as my brother." Brian replied just as snappy and reached fro Jack's hand, opened his brothers palm just to place the borrowed money in it. "For your cookie jar."
"I'm not the one in trouble....Cole is." With a look back at the kid who was wading knee deep in Mafia shit he shook his head. "He has no idea what he's in for." Brian walked around to open the passenger door and got in. "Let's go."
