Amira laughed softly. "Yeah, I understand that feeling. My family thinks I can do no wrong and that's the sad part. I haven't done much with myself either and yet, I'm up on this pedestal," she said. She could relate with Jack. She wasn't too happy with her situation either. They were both broke, jobless and bordering on being freeloaders.
"But I think it's about time to step out on my own and turn over a new leaf," she said, staring off into the distance.

Jack nodded "Fair enough" His dislike for her from earlier slowly disappeared. He actually felt some admiration for the girl now, though he didn't know whether he should. She could just be covering up for her real life and make up a more noble story. Either way, she was still kind of fascinating.
He glanced over at Brian, who seemed to be getting redder by the minute, and smirked. "Has the sun messed up your brain yet, bro"

"A little." Brian admitted. The waves became too tempting now. So he was sick of playing Jacks babysitter. "I'm going to go for a swim. Anybody in?" With these words he kicked off his flip flops and walked over to the edge of the water. The waves felt nice and cool on his feet. With a few fast steps he jumped in. The salty water splashed over top of his head and cooled him down instantly.

She smiled, noticing how carefree Brian was. She laughed, standing up and following his lead. She ran behind him, her hair flowing wildly behind her. It felt good just throwing caution into the wind, forgetting everything that was trying to clog her mind and slow her down.
She dove in head first and shut her eyes tightly. She absolutely dreaded the beach, but right now it felt so nice. The cool water wrapping itself around her. Enveloping her smoothly. She let her body go slack as she began to float to the surface.
She smiled once again as the sun warmed her face. Amira opened her eyes and spotted Brian in the corner of her eyes. Something about him made her want to reach out and touch him, but she held back as she reminded herself what this was all about and what it wasn't.

With a few powerful strokes Brian closed the distance between Amira and him in the water. He wiped the water out of his eyes and smiled at her. She looked good with her long dark hair wet. Almost a little like an exotic mermaid.
"Hey, I didn't think you would jump in as well. It's beautiful today, isn't it? One thing I love about Cali...the ocean."
He turned around to float on his back. The water rolling off the skin of his well trained abs. Brian knew which part of his body usually impressed the girls. Unfortunately the scar on his hip blurred the perfect picture. But what did he care? He wanted to be with Mia. For some odd reason he had a hard time not feeling attracted to this bad girl here though.
"How urgent do you really need the money? Jack's having troubles finding a job."

"I wasn't but it's hot as hell out on that sand. I don't know how Jack's doing it."
Amira smiled to herself as Brian and her floated in the ocean like as if they were kids. She heard the change in his voice and knew something was troubling him. She was afraid to ask what, but she knew that behind closed doors there was always a body or two waiting to come out.
As for his question, she drew in a deep breath, fighting her first instinct. If anybody else had questioned her she would've already had her hands around their throat. Which was why she was here. In Echo Park, running away from all of that.
"I need a place to stay. I need my own space. Something to call my own. Sleeping on someones couch isn't cutting it anymore, but I understand. I should've known better than to give him the money and I guess I'll have to hold on because we both played a part in this," she replied, choosing her words carefully. She didn't want to push the only friends she had away- even if they were around because she kept insisting on her money.

Brian nodded while he maintained eye contact with her. "I understand. We'll try our best. Wouldn't want a beautiful girl like you haging around at that old shack of your cousin." He grinned and touched her arm to reassure her. Then he turned around to dive down once more to get out of the sun. The cool water surrounded him and felt nice and soothing. while he was parting the waves with a few powerful strokes he wondered how Amira could come off this nice and genuine and be the leader of a gang. Maybe the information was wrong. She seemed wild but not brutal or a criminal. But who was Brian to judge who looked like a criminal. He spent 10 minutes swimming with Amira as if they were good old buddies and then made his way back to the towel, dried off and told Jack and Amira that he had to leave. "I still have to work on a car!" In truth he had to do some research on the girl... __ THREAD CLOSED Continue at O'Conners crib
