The air was torn by the sound of the gun and then Letty dropped down next to him. So Brian immediately jumped to the conclusion that she'd been hit since his vision wasn't fully back yet. Fear for his friend filled him. "Letty! No!" He furiously wiped at his eyes again, blinked and found the Mexican behind her on the ground and Letty suddenly fumbling around on him. "Are you okay? Did he get you?" He looked her up and down and touched her as if he could feel if she was wounded when suddenly sharp pain ripped through his side. He clutched the spot on his right side just above his hip which felt like it had just exploded. "Oh shit!" He mumbled as he looked at his hands. "He got me!"

The blow to his chin almost made Ramon pass out and hit the dirt with his face. He blinked to see a lanky young guy above him. His gun had fallen only centimeters away from his hand. Aparently he'd taken out the wrong guy. wasn't that bloke just in the car? How could he get over here so fast? With these questions in his mind he struggled to stay conscious. Then he wrapped his arms around Jack's legs to make sure he wasn't going anywhere!

"Damn it!" Letty snapped. She punched the guy that seemed to recover a little before he feels too good to get up. "We should get the car fast." Letty thought out loud, seeing Brian's bullet wound.
"Doesn't look too good." She added, looking pretty worried. She checked on Jack to see whats going on with him and the other guy.

Brian pressed his hand on his bleeding side and rolled onto his knees to get up and see where Jack was. He struggled to his feet trying to blend out the pain. "You're a real optimist, aren't you?" For now the wound didn't feel too bad so he didn't know what Letty meant. As soon as the cop tried to walk the pain shooting down his leg almost made him kiss the ground again. For a splitsecond he remembered Dom getting shot in Mexico last time and just shrugging it off. He couldn't help but admire the guy. "Bullett's don't hurt me." wasn't that what his friend had said? Slowly he made his way over to the car keeping his hand on his side. When he saw Jack all tied up he frowned. "Wrap it up, bro. Get in the car!" He grabbed the gun and aimed at Ramon, who let go of Jack's feet.

After he got back up on his feet, Jack kicked the Mexican in his side. He knew it was a sucker thing to do, but this guy had caused more than enough problems so he pretty much deserved it. It took a few seconds for him to take in all the damage as he checked out the scene. Two messed up Mexicans on the ground, a half shot up car with glass spread around it and a wounded Brian. Well.. at least they managed to keep Letty safe for the time being. "How bad it is?" He pointed at his brothers wound. "Think you'll survive the ride back?"
The Nissan had seen better days with the back window shot to pieces, two holes in the trunk and one shot tire. Luckily it seemed Brian had been smart enough to have RunOnFlat tires on the Skyline which made it possible for them to drive around another 80km. Enough to get them back across the border and to a hospital. "Ladies first" He opened the car door for Letty, then turned to his brother. "Do you need some help with that, princess"

Brian shook his head at Jack and attempted a half smile. Always a cocky joke on his lips, always giving him shit. That's how he was. No matter how bad the situation was or if the world around them had just been kicked up in a whirlwind. The kid enjoyed the adrenalin. Brian had to admit that that character trait must run in the family. He was still high on it. Brian yould feel his heart beat in his neck and his fingers tingle. "Nah, bulletts don't hurt me!" He remarked repeating what Dom had said to him not too long ago. What a bunch of crap! They did! Then he carefully lowered himself into the passenger seat after Letty had climbed in the back seat. He shot a glance back at her and smiled. "It's good to have you back, Let!" Then he motioned for the younger one to get in and drive. "Let's go before more of Letty's friends show up. Cut her 280 hp loose, Jackie!"

"Its good to be back." Letty replayed, regaining her breath. "And man...I miss my old friends." She said with a small smile, remembering Vince, Mia, Jesse and Leon. Somewhere at the back of her head she was thinking of Dom all along, but it seemed easier not to acknowledge that.
"You were great, kid." She added after a moment, smacking her fist into Jack's shoulder lightly. Letty eyed Brian with a nostalgic look on her face. When she looked at him she saw Barbecues at the Toretto's, Friday nights' race and she hated to admit but... she even missed the skanks trying to hit on her man, well, just a little...

Jack shot a look at Letty through the rear view mirror. "Anytime" With a smile he added. "As long as I don't have to do it again." As he turned the ignition, the engine roared to life and while the Skyline started rolling, the last pieces of glass fell from the trunk on the ground. "Sorry about your car, bro" He glanced at his brother "We'll get her fixed up right after you" Soon the Skyline left the diner behind and turned on to the road. Throughout the ride back over the border, he maintained a fast but still decent speed. There was no need for attracting any more attention then they already did.
As soon as they were back in the States, he stopped the Nissan at a resting place. "Do I need to drive you to a hospital?" He eyed his brother, who was clearly in pain but, as far as Jack and his medical knowledge could tell, would survive. He smirked "I hope you don't have to be put out of your misery, cos I would sure miss you, bro"

The whole ride long Brian had been contemplating whether or not to see a doctor because he knew very well that they had to report bullett wounds. If he was reported his boss would find out that he'd been involved in a shooting in Mexico and the questions would start. Brian didn't inform his boss about Letty's request or that she was alive because he knew the whole procedure would have taken too long and that Mexico wasn't their jurisdiction. Worst case scenario he'd loose his job which he actually liked a lot. Plus besides racing it was the only thing he knew how to do. Just after Jack hit the gas Brian looked under his shirt and pushed down the top of his pants with bated breath to examine the damage done. He breathed a sigh of releive when he saw that it was just a grazing shot that hadn't done any major damage. The bullett just left a 10 centimeter long bleeding graze. "It's just a scratch!" He looked at his brother. "Why did I give you the vest again?" For a lack of a first aid kit he pulled his shirt off and pressed it against his side followed by a kick against the interior because the "small scratch" still hurt like hell.
At the border he kept a low profile and just sat tight until they were in Imperial Beach. "That's nice of you! But I think it's not such a good idea...I don't want to loose my badge." He wrinkled his brow and looked at his side again, which was still bleeding and had left a pretty big stain on his pants. "If Mia was in town I'd ask her but she's visiting her aunt." Brian was happy about that on one hand because she would have wanted to come along. On the other hand he missed her. He looked at Jack and Letty. "Do you know anybody who knows what to do?"

Letty sneered at Brian. "Bullet wounds? dangerous chases? Come on, been there, Brian." She said and tapped on his shoulder cheerfully. "Don'tchya know someone in your social circle who can handle that?" She asked, emphasizing the 'social circle' words.
She assumed that even though he was associated with criminals such as herself and Dom, Brian must have known some 'decent' people with nice jobs too. "Cops, lawyers, doctors? I bet you have a friend for each trouble that may come along the way." Letty said and held back a chuckle.

Brian turned around to see her which sent sharp pain down his side and made him gasp. "What social circles are you referring to? The criminals I surround myself with?" He emphasized 'criminals' but made sure to say it jokingly so she didn't get offended. "Mia's the only nurse I know." He thought about it for a moment. "Yeah, I'm not going in there. They would ask too many questions." Then he shoved Jack. "Go to San Diego. I know somebody there. There's a guy there I know from the racing scene. He seems like a pretty reasonable guy. Likes animals." Brian leaned back and closed his eyes for the ride. "He's a vet!"

Jack smirked as he started the engine again. This one was just too easy. But he wouldn't be Jack if he would just let it pass up. "A vet huh? You should feel right at home then, dawg!"
Soon the Skyline entered San Diego and Jack followed the last direction's to the address his brother had given him. The house the Nissan pulled up at was nothing fancy. Not too big, not too small. The only thing that indicated they were at the right place was a parked tuner on the driveway. He carefully nudged Brian in order not to aggravate his wound too much. "Time to get you neutered, bro!"

Brian pushed himself out of the seat. "And I was happy that the bullett missed my balls!" He slowly made his way out of the Nissan, shot a short admiring glance at the Vets ride and then rang the bell. From inside the house various sounds could be heard. Yelping, meowing...Brian thought he could even make out a horse. "Maybe this is not such a good idea." He mumbled to Jack and Letty, who were waiting behind him.
The door swung open and an old, grey haired woman (that little that was still on her head) opened the door. Brian shot a glance inside and asked. "I'm looking for Matt Murphy. Is he here?" The old lady eyed him suspiciously. Who was this man who came knocking at her door half naked during the lunch break. "Where's your shirt, young man? He's on his lunch break." Even though the woman barely reached up to his chest Brian was slightly intimidated by her.
Behind her a voice called out. "S'that you, Spilner? Let him in, Ma!" She led them to the kitchen where a man in a green Vet uniform was sitting at a table having a couple of sandwiches together with a women in the same outfit. They were both in their early thirties but the woman, on the contrary to him, was a real looker with her red curly hair and bright green eyes. The man pointed at the window and said with a mouth full. "Nice car. New?"

Matt swallowed the bite while he walked up to the window to give the car a better look before he turned his attention to Brian. "I assume you didn't come here to show your ride off" He said reffering to the bleeding graze on Brians hip. "That's a nasty scrape you got there, Spilner." He walked to the sink to wash his hands. He wasn't sure what the meaning of all this was with Brian showing up here, bleeding like an idiot. Why didn't he just go to the hospital. "Mind telling me what is going on?"

Brian nodded quickly. He was getting ready to fall over or take a seat somewhere so he hastily replied. "Me and my friends ran into some trouble in Mexico, man." He tried to find the right words without telling Matt that he was a cop. "I can't go to a normal doctor because they would ask too many questions and I would be in serious trouble." Brian was well aware that the vet could loose his license helping him. He noticed the looks him and the woman were giving each other. So he looked him straight in the face with a pained expression but a firm look. "Look, man. I wouldn't have come here if I had any other choice. Please help me." With that he sat down on the chair that Matt had vacated moments before. After all the gúy owed him. Brian had let him off the hook ages ago when he lost a race with pretty high buy in.

Matt gave Amy another look just to check if she'd be alright with his decision and it seemed she was giving him the green light. He nodded at Brian "Alright man. But only cause I owe you one. Don't expect any favors from me after this" He turned to Amy "Could you go and prep the room?" As the woman left the kitchen he looked at Brian shaking his head. "I always knew you were trouble, Brian. Come on" He reached out his hand for Brian to help pull him up and, in case he needed it, support him to the operating room.

Brian followed Matt with a pretty weird feeling. He looked back at Jack and Letty. "I hope you'll still give me a ride if I come out with a tail and bunny ears." Then he dissapeared down the hall.
When he layed down on the cold, steel, Vet examination table, which was way too short for his long legs Brian wondered what the heck he was doing or whether he was maybe having a weird dream. "Hey, do the cows ever complain that this thing is too cold?" His friend shook his head while pulling on gloves. "How much do you weigh?" "About 170 pounds, why?" The lady looked up a chart. "That's about the weight of a San Bernard."
A tetanus shot, some cleaning and stitches later he reappeared all wrapped up in a clean bandage in the kitchen. His shirt ended up in the trash. In his arms Brian held a furry little something, which he handed to Jack, and slured something about the dog being a stray and Jacks new friend before he slumped down on the chair, which he almost missed, and demanded a beer.

Letty's got one two. She opened in effortlessly and took a sip. "Corona, its good to be home." she said cheerfully and drank some more. Good all taste, she have been missing this all along. It was the taste of nostalgia, the taste of freedom. She finally took another sip and swallowed, eyeing Brian that seemed to recover a little.
She wanted to catch up with all that happened with the team, she missed them too much. But she decided to wait for a better time because the place was new and she didn't know this Matt guy, she wasn't sure she could trust him so she decided to remain silent for now, she'll find a better timing.

Walking into Murphy's home vet clinic she would have almost looked like she owned the place or was a regular. Murphy had been Chelsea's veterinary doctor since Chelsea was born and that was well, 6-7 years ago. Now that she was back in Los Angeles she wanted to re-register with the clinic and let Matt Murphy know that she was back and would like to continue with him. He had taken really good care of her pup afterall. Better than any other doctor she could possibly find for Chelsea.
She heard the sound of other animals and she smiled, she was an animal lover, always had been. She figured at this time he was on a lunch break or with someone and she just went to sit down and wait. In her arms she held Chelsea, the tiny white teacup Pomeranian. The pup was a pocket dog, perfect for travel and fit convinently almost everywhere.
Giving a slight yip, Carly pressed a finger to her lips to shh the excited Chelsea on her lap before sitting back and waiting patiently. She had been there enough before that she knew her face wouldn't be forgotten.
Chelsea giving a slight whimper after being shushed just curled on Carly's lap and Carly ran her fingers through her straight golden blonde hair before brushing a front strand behind her ear as it had fallen out of the hold of the white floral headband she wore, her soft hazel eyes looking about the room as she waited.
It was a nice day at least, she was thankful for that as she wore a short white sundress of the spaghetti-strapped variety with a simple black scarf around her waist.
She heard voices and curiousity struck her, but she waited, listening if she could. Her fingers gently brushing over the fur of Chelsea's.

Matt and his colleague were cleaning the table when he heard a sound from the waiting area. He tossed some paper towels into the bin before he took his gloves off and went towards the door. Before he could open it his mother had already spotted the woman waiting there. "Is that you, Carly? My goodness, girl, I haven't seen you in ages. I thought I'd never see you again....oh and that cute little dog of yours." She petted the dog. Unfortunately Matts mother was unaware of the fact that there was a gathering in the kitchen and invited Carly. "You have to tell me all about where you've been. C'mon, I'll pour you a glass of milk!"
