Brin could barely stand to look into her eyes when she was staring like this. It was as if she could look right inside of him, as if she could see through all the bullshit to who he really was no matter what anyone said. In his book they had a special connection and he simply didn't understand why she asked him to leave. Suddenly her hand was on his and it was the ex cops turn to flinch and stare down at her slender fingers while she promised to fix the biggest mess of his life. "that's why we came here. We're trying to recover the stolen cars and find the guy who framed me. That could be my ticket to freedom. Unfortunately the man is a cold blooded murderer and I have no clue how to make him give up the truth even if I find him...but to find him I need this Han-guy." He fiddled with the paper in his fingers and made sure his other hand kept the connection with hers although he was starting to feel bad because of Mira. "So he's staying out of trouble in Lompoc? Good." His friend was probably trying to get out earlier for good behavior. There were a lot of bad stories, well more than stories about state prisons and gang brutality within. It would be hard for Dom to lay low. "Forget that thought, Mia. Look at where it got me. You're damn right, a life on the run ain't freedom. Plus you'll become a wanted girl yourself. Stay clean, please!"

As soon as he kept his hand “connected’ with hers, something in his eyes sort of switched. Was it guilt? Yeah, that look of guilt in his eyes to her was of a small child being caught doing something he shouldn’t have, but instead of bombarding him with questions she kept her mouth shut.
Dom was behaving although Lompoc Prison had lots of people who wanted Dominic Toretto death, besides if he kept doing what he was doing he might get out, she couldn’t imagine what it was like waking up every morning looking over your shoulder knowing death was around every second, every minute, every hour, every day…
Brian’s panic and more pleading voice begging her not to do something stupid, was true and yet it was hard for her to push that crazy idea to break her brother out of prison, but she had to stop thinking quickly meaning she wasn’t seeing all the bad stuff that could go wrong, after all she was a stubborn Toretto. “All right, I’ll behave. Let’s contact Han,”

Brian took her word for it and nodded. "Good." He quickly finished his drink and took a large bite out of the sandwich. Without finishing it he dropped some coins on the table and took her hand while he got up. "Let's go." Then he stopped and grabbed the rest of the sandwich on his way out.
Outside people were walking up and down the sidewalk of this very busy street. the air was filled with noise of honking cars, chatter and the smell of food, that was available on every corner. "If only this was a holiday." He remarked before he led the pretty brunette into a side alley. "Skyline's in here."

She followed his action, taking the small amount of sandwich in her hands, and taking some coins out of her jeans pocket, placing it in the small table; she didn’t remove his hand, but instead tighten her grip a little. She held tightly her suitcase on the opposite hand and hurried to Outside of the restaurant was so damn filled with people it was hard to walk or talk; he quickly changed direction to an alley and stopped taking a moment to look at the Skyline.
The car was excellent, but didn’t dare to place a hand on it, it was so damn perfect. Brian opened the passenger door, as she sat throwing her small suitcase on the back seat. “Nice car,"

They both got into the Skyline and when Mia expressed her admiration Brian knew it wasn't just a phrase. "Thank you...I seem a little stuck on Skylines. Unfortunately I'll have to get rid of it soon just to be on the safe side." He pulled out the paper and punched the adress into his Garmin, which soon spit out a map and directions. While Brian was manouvring through Tokyos busy streets he offered. I can drop you at your hotel when we're done. We are staying at the downtown backpacker hostel. It was the easiest and cheapest place." Then he focused on the road again. Han was living outside the inner city and it took a long time to get there. "What are you doing when you're not working at the cafe?" Brian wondered.

“It is a nice car, too bad you’ll have to get rid of it,” she complained a little about the “bye-bye car”. She saw him punching the buttons of the small device until the directions were given to him.
Her attention was on him now as he offered to take her to the hotel, a hotel she didn’t have a reservation…not yet. She smiled to him “Thanks, that’ll be great,” Her eyes focused on the outside, it was getting dark, and the few stores located on each side of the road were beginning to light up to attract more customers.
The Skyline blend in with the city, and instead of stores the dark became their companion, it was going to be a long ride. The silence was awkward and she was glad to have Brian break the ice “I tried going to College for a small and quick major, but with Dom, my focus was not on school anymore, until he reminded me to go back, I completed the last semester after 2 years of attending school, and got my associate degree in Nursing, and also love to learn new languages, so every month I tried to learn a new one, some languages I know a little more than others, basic stuff,” she stated proudly.

When the sun set behind the skyline of Tokyo driving became harder because there seemed to be flashing lights everywhere and Brian still hadn't gotten used to driving on the wrong side of the road. He listened to Mia talk about her schooling and when she mentioned nursing he laughed a little. His eyes were fixed on her features for a moment. "How handy." He was referring to the crew who constantly got beat up in one way or the other by working and racing cars. "You had a lot of fun patching up your brother, didn't you?" He asked with a mischievous smirk.
"Why aren't you working as nurse then? I'm sure that would pay better than the cafe."

She had to laugh at his comment, she was their doctor, if the guys fought and even a simple, small cut she was next of that injured person taking care of it. She had plenty of practice with Dom. "Yes, I had lots of fun," she let a second small laugh.
She looked at the road taking a moment to answer the next question. "I worked for about a year, but- it was weird. I mean I loved my job, one night; the day before Letty died we had a little conversation in the mean time she was fixing the charger. Maybe me getting out of the hospital at that time was a big excuse, it was like she knew she was never coming back, I had to mourn and being a nurse and to see death every day, plus a family member dying, I couldn't take it,"
She cleared her throat, and looked out the window as the tears filled her eyes. “Sorry,” she apologized to him as she immediately controlled her almost shaky voice, not because of the sad memory but because she felt like every time she mentioned Letty, she was letting Brian know it was his fault for what happened to her ‘sister’, but it wasn’t his… she had to let it go and then a new question pop in her head. ‘Why did you leave him?’ It was the stupidest thing to do; it was a way for her to hate him for something he didn’t have control of. But there was no turning back, she couldn’t change the past, but learn from it… and she was learning quickly.

It was good to see Mia laug because it had become a rare sight and it made Brian grin like a fool himself. "Your way of paying him back for never listening to you?" He quirked a brow. There was sparkle in his eye at the old memory.
Unfortunately the conversation took a sad turn when Mia started talking about Letty. Of course Brian knew how hard the death of her sister' had been for her. He blamed himself for getting her involved and was pretty sure Mia did the same. His smile faded when he saw a tear glistening in her eye and heard her voice crack. Brian couldn't watch her that sad so he focussed on the road again. "You had every right to quit." He felt the same sadness spread in his own chest. "Sorry, Mia." For some reason his hand slipped from the stick to her hand again. "Is it getting easier?"

He was right about her quitting her job; she heard his voice matching the same sadness as her. She nodded letting him know she understood he was sorry, her eyes focused on the road, but change her mind at the last second as she felt a warm hand on top of hers, she looked down, and noticed his bigger hand covering hers, a way to comfort her, to take the pain away.
Was it getting easier? Yes and no, every now and then she thought about her. She refused to shed a tear even though her eyes were ready to let the tears fall. She looked at him as the first big, salty tear made its way out of her brown eyes. “A little…” she said quickly brushing it away with the back of her hand.

Brian could feel Mia's pain, her desperation and when he looked at her and saw that deep sadness and the tear fall his own wall, that he had built so well, started to crumble. He pressed his lips together for a moment, then decided to pull over. As soon as the car came to a halt he pressed out. "I'm so sorry, Mia." Then he embraced her in a comforting hug and rubbed her back. "I know, I should have never let her get involved. I still think about it a lot. But when I do I can't look in the mirror any more." There it was again. That same feeling of guilt that had eaten away at him when it first happened. "I can't tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Letty was 'special'."

Suddenly Brian pulled over and placed a hand on her ebony shoulder as he pulled her body to his. His strong arms around her small frame as he rubbed her back, it felt so good to be back in his arms, to feel his warmth, her right arm snake around his neck as she buried her face on his shoulder letting more tears fall soaking his shirt, a small sob came out of her lips, he held her comforting her.
It was hard to imagine they were no longer together, she still remember the wonderful smell of his perfume, the sensation of flames burning her skin every time he caressed her face, neck or arms, the way they used to kiss sharing the same passion, and crave for each other.
She removed her tears and ‘stood’ there face to face with him. She leaned pressing her lips to his forehead looking at him one more time. “I know you feel sorry, but there’s something you and I need to understand, we do not have the power to predict what’s going to happen, and you cannot blame yourself for something you didn’t have control of. I know you are angry with yourself, I know I was angry and hated you or at least tried to hate you, but I couldn’t Brian. It was also Letty’s decision,” her thumb caressed his cheek. “Stop torturing yourself,”

Having Mia in his arms made Brian go right back in time. It reminded him of how close they used to be but it was also a painful memory of what he had lost because of Letty and his own mistake. Mia had been the one for him ever since he met her when she was barely out of her teens and still naive enough to trust him-a cop. Surely there had been other women in his life until he met her again but none left the same kind of feeling.
Now things were completely different. Mia was living in LA and he was on the run with his girlfriend, whom he had gotten pregnant on their first time together. He could not allow himself slipping.
Tearing himself out of his thoughts he listened to her words. Had she really forgiven him? He only nodded and mutter. "Hm." because he wasn't sure he could forgive himself even if he tried.
Suddenly her soft lips were on his forehead causing him to hold his breath and close his eyes. Her hand, her lips, the hug, Brian simply wanted to kiss her back but where would that lead. So he drew his head back. "We shouldn't..." Then he pulled back into traffic hoping that this would solve his emotional problem.

Maybe he was right, she felt disappointed. Her head was shouting more like scolding but her heart, it was a completely different story. She would’ve take advantage of the situation and kiss him, but there was no ‘we’ this time, and to hear him stop her to continue knowing it was going to lead to something more than a simple kiss on the forehead. She wasn’t expecting him to push her away.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to… sorry,” she concentrated on the road taking a quick breathe trying desperately to slow down her heart that seem to get out her chest.

Brian contemplated letting her know why they shouldn't get so close but was too shy. What should he tell her? So he simply mumbled. "There's nothing to be sorry about." He gave mia, who looked dissapointed, a brief smile. It still confused the hell out of Brian-why now all of a sudden? The navigation system told him that they had reached their destination. "Saved by the bell." He smirked. "Let's find this guy."

She couldn't put her finger on, but something in his eyes told her there was more he wasn't sharing, curiosity got the best of her but decided not to push him, sooner or later Brian was going to share whatever he hadn't and needed to share with her. She returned his smile trying to cover the dissapointment. Was that too obvious to him? She got out of his car, and closed the door approaching to the garage of her brother's friend. Should she knock 'the door'? Shout his name? Maybe both... "Han!" she called his name.

Han had been changing the brake pads on one of the STI's in his shop when he heard a loud knock on his back door and his name called for. He wasn't expecting any visitors, and quite frankly was annoyed that someone just had to see or talk to him today, seemed like he hardly had any time off these days. With a sigh he walked over to the back door, unlocked it, and threw it open. The sight in front of him caught him way off guard. "Mia?! What are you doing here?" He looked her over and scratched his head.

She offered Han a smiled and a laugh watching him scratch his head, she walked towards Han hugging him Hi!” she turned to see Brian. “Han, this is Brian O’Conner and we need your help,” her voice became serious as she introduced her ex boyfriend and ex cop to her long time friend. “I know me coming here is seems a little bit of a shock to you, but Dom couldn’t make it here, so…”

Han hugged Mia back, it was definitely one of those 'long time no see' moments. "Great to see you again, Mia." Han leaned over towards Brian and offered him a handshake, he noticed how worn out he looked. "Wow, you look like you've been to hell and back." He raised his eyebrows. He took a couple steps back into his garage and motioned for them to follow. "Please, come in. Anything I can get for you two?" He looked towards Mia again and spoke in a softer voice. "How is Dom doing anyway?"

Brian had heard about Han. He was surprised that he didn't have an accent. The friendly welcome was somewhat unexpected but he seemed to Mia fairly well. "Nice to meet you in person. I've heard about you...Dom told me your two 'worked' together." he neglected to explain who he was. If Han didn't already know he didn't need to anymore.
Stepping into the garage he couldn't help to feel that it was great to know an insider here. "Do you have a cold beer?" Brian asked while he watched Mia's swaying hips and followed her.
