From the other end of the world Brian was making a call from a pay phone to a diner in downtown LA. It was the last place he remembered where Mia had worked. A call to her home was out of the question as he was sure that all incoming calls were being monitored by the FBI since they had a record together. Brian needed Dom's help to get in with the right people in Tokyo. His friend had lived here for a while and knew all the right people. Unfortunately Brian had no idea how to get a hold of him other than through Mia.
The shop manager told him she wasn't working today but he could call back the next day, which he did and finally got her on the line. "Mia, it's Brian. I'm calling from a pay phone so please don't hang up."

My hands gripped the telephone tighter as I heard his voice, I sighed meaning I wasn’t happy to hear his voice. But, why was my heart picking up the pace? After all he did in the past; I should’ve let Dom “kill” him when he decided to blow up his cover to save Vince’s life. I took a deep breath, and talked after he begged me not to hang up on him. “What do you want Brian?” I questioned him as I waiting nervously to hear his answer… to hear his voice.

Her voice sounded pretty cold. No wonder. Brian and Mia didn't exactly part ways on the best terms. Yet it sounded so familiar that he could practically see her face in front of him. Silently he was wondering whether she really still looked the same or what the years had done to her. Brian himself surely had changed a bit. His hair hair was shorter, he had didn't sport the perfect six pack of a 25 year old any more and didn't care about the stubble on his chin. Absentmindedly he ran his hand over his face. "It's nice to hear your voice. How are you?" Even though the phone call cost an arm and a leg he needed to know whether she was alright.

Mia was starting to become irritated. She wondered: Why couldn't he cut to the chase? The last thing she wanted to do is talk to him. but even though she didn't want to admit it deep inside her she had buried feelings for him. 'Stop it Mia! Focus!' her mind screamed, and she was brought back to reality, she thought about answering, and hung up. But, even if she tried she couldn't, she wasn't that kind of a person. "I'm doing good," she finally said combing her long hair with shaky hands, the man had an effect on her.

"Good, good to hear that." Brian swallowed hard. It was very strange to hear her voice. If only they had left on better terms, not during an argument. But the times were tough when Dom got arrested and was facing life while Letty was no longer around. Mia was suddenly all alone. Maybe she blamed him for all of it. "Have you talked to Dom lately? I need his help." He confessed which sounded really strange because why would the law enforcement guy need a criminals help?

Her eyes filled with tears, and nothing came out of her mouth. Dom... she missed her brother so much. She felt alone, Letty was not around anymore and to hear Brian mentioned Dom's... she couldn't help but feel sad.
Mia took a moment to answer. “Help? with what..? Brian, you know as well as I do where Dom is," What kind of trouble could Brian be in now? She wondered as she waited for his reply.

By the sound of Mia's voice he could tell she was getting chocked up. It was incredible how well he knew her. Instantly he felt the urge to console her, hug her and make her feel better. "I know but I was wondering whether you could ask him something when you see him next. I need somebody I can trust here in Tokyo, somebody in the racing scene who knows who's dealing with expensive stolen cars here." Brian looked around at the other people in the backpackers who showed no interest in him or his call.

"Yes, I guess I can do that," she looked at her watch and noticed it was almost time to go visit her brother.

"Thank you. I appreciate it." He thought about what else he wanted to tell her now she was actually talking to him. "My number is 0875-33-2641 in Japan. Hey and Mia, it's pretty urgent.." The tone of his voice gave away just how much he needed this piece of information. "Take care."
OOC: Mia, please no one liners. You can continue the story here...a day later or sth.

She quickly took a small notebook and a black pen writing down the numbers he provided her with, his voice sounded desperate. "You too Brian, you too," she hung up, placing the small notebook in her purse.
"Why do I have the feeling I am going to be traveling to Japan? Damn it Brian..." She spoke to herself as she contemplated the number one more time.
**** Twenty five minutes later she was sitting in front of his brother telling him about the phone call she received from Brian. She took out the same small notebook and wrote down a name, an address and phone number. she stood up saying goodbye to her brother, not looking back because she wouldn't be able to handle the pain she felt everytime she saw her brother locked in that place.
She would call Brian tomorrow, and let him know the news. He wouldn't be alone in Japan... not anymore.

Brian hung up and froze for a moment. Hearing her voice certainly turned something inside of him upside down. That was the last thing he wanted to deal with at the moment. Why did she give him the boot. Everything would have gone a totally different way if she hadn't. He might not even be wanted now because he never would have moved to Miami. That wasn't the case though. He pushed himself away from the counter and walked back to their room.

*The next day*
For Mia to make the call... Let's just say it wasn't something she was looking forward too. It meant seeing him again; it meant bringing her past to life. Things changed a lot since that argument at the cafe, and certainly things changed when Dom went to prison. But, if she didn't helped Brian, who else would do it? Was she afraid to fall for the guy again? Of course... but she couldn't just walk away.
Her heart rate increased as she took the telephone, her fingers played around before pushing any buttons, she was so damn nervous. "Come on Mia, you can do this!" she spoke out loud bringing some courage.
Finally, she pushed the buttons that she wrote on the small notebook. 0875-33-2641 and waited until she heard his voice at the other end of the line. "Brian, I got a name, an address and a phone number, and I'll meet you in Tokyo," her voice was serious, she wasn't joking. If he only knew she was shaking like a leaf, that her hands were sweaty, that her heart was pounding wildly in her chest. 'What did I get myself into...' those last 6 words rushed through her mind…

At first Brian had no idea why the receptionist of the small hostel was calling him over just before he left the place with a backpack on his back. Wearily he picked up the phone the man motioned for and signaled the other to wait for him outside. Out of instinct he almost answered the call with his real name but switched to. "Hello?" Instead. Hearing Mia's voice again so soon was a surprise-a pleasant one , especially because she told him the name and adress he needed. Then she made his jaw drop by annoucing she was going to come. "Mia, I really appreciate your help but don't do that. There's no need for you to get caught up in this." He argued. All he ever caused the girl was trouble. Why would this time be any different?

"You won't be able to do this alone. Dom told me to go to Tokyo," She began to say, it wasn't even a lie. Dom told her about going to Tokyo to help him. She didn't like it, Dom knew very well the past between his sister and the blonde ex-agent.
What was Dom trying to do other than to have her help Brian? Maybe nothing, maybe it was her way of thinking. But… why couldn't she forget about the man? Her head was a mess, even though her brother asked her to go personally to Japan because he couldn't ask for a little vacation out of prison. Why get herself in trouble? Did she miss that part of her life? And besides how the hell was she going to explain about her trip to Tokyo? She hoped Brian didn’t question her anymore because she was running out of answers.

Brian knew very well that there was no arguing with Dom. But he needed to make her aware what she was in for. He cared too much about his ex-girlfriend than to let her run into massive trouble without warning. So he covered his mouth and phone with his hand so nobody else would hear. "Mia, listen carefully. I know how you Torettos are and that there's no arguing with you but you need to know this. Somebody framed me on a job. He made it look like I stole some very expensive cars, killed some people and stuck drugs in my car. I'm not sure which off these accusations are actually sticking but they arrested me. I managed to escape but I'm pretty sure they're after me. If you come to help you might get yourself in real trouble!"

She stood there registering each word he was telling her. She understood perfectly what he was saying about the danger he was in. She was so damn stubborn and she wasn’t going to stay home not knowing if Brian found the help he needed. “Then if you know how we (Torettos) are, you should know by now is not going to be easy to convince me to let this go,”
She didn’t care right now if she was getting into trouble. Dominic was in jail, there was no way to break him out of jail, she wouldn’t be able to do it alone, and to think Brian could end up the same way in jail. Yes, he was on the run, but for how long? “Pleas Brian, please…” she covered her mouth as the words slipped softly almost a whisper out of her mouth.

Brian ran his hand through his wavy hair and sighed. "What can I say, Mia?" He wasn't quite sure what kind of help she could be but maybe Dom had something up his sleeve. After all the guy spent half of his life on the run. "If there's a way how you can quietly find out what I'm actually being charged with...would be great." Secretly Brian was still hoping that most charges would be dropped and he'd only face a short stay in prison if it came down to it.
He squeezed his eyes shut wondering what to say. Then he simply said. "Take care."

His last words were hard to describe how it came out of his lips. She couldn't see another person she cared for in jail, especially Brian. He was more than family to her, they had a past, even though they weren't together anymore, she cared for the guy. Without wasting time she quickly answered "Just give me a few hours to find the information, and I'll call you again," She hung up the phone feeling like somebody squeezed her heart... She had to help him out of this mess. *** If there was something she was glad for was the way her deceased ‘brother’ Jesse had this special talent (if you can call it that) to break into the most important organizations over the internet, FBI, CIA you name it. If you needed help with “borrowing” information Jesse was the man to go ask for help.
She ran to where she left her purse and looked through the humongous tote bag, until she found her mini laptop. She took a few moments typing until she smiled to herself, looking at the small screen. "Finally,”. Brian's picture appeared. She clicked to see the next page until she found it. A detail report of what Brian was being accused of, at the end of the paper it said: 'Charges: theft possession of drugs’.
She dialed Brian’s phone until he picked up. “The only thing I found was theft possession of drugs. Don’t ask how I got the info, I’ll explain later. I’m on my way out to Tokyo,” for a moment there she thought he was going to yell at her not to come, and if he was planning to speak he didn’t have a chance. “I can’t see you in jail. Not you…”

The call came as a surprise and actually got Brian out of bed. He quickly whispered to Mira that he would be back and headed down to the reception where the young Japanese handed him the cordless phone. Tired he rubbed his eyes and muttered. "Yeah?" When he heard Mia's words he was suddenly wide awake. Brian had expected some charges to be dropped but not that many. After all he had accidentally wounded a hostage. "Just theft and possession? Okay." He sat down with some strange form of relief. "Unfortunately that's enough to be put away for quite a while." While his mind was wandering off he heard Mia say...'not you.' What did she mean by that. Why not Brian? Because he was a cop? Because he was too pretty and be an easy prey? Because she cared for him? He would have to ask her this one in person though. "Meet me at Coffee Black in a week. 5pm. I'll find you."

His words surprised her a little 'Just theft and possession? Okay'’ God knows what he "did" for him to say those words, bottom line he seemed relief. She didn't want to discuss his following response the 'that's enough to be put away for quite a while'.
She was going to step into deep "danger". But, at the end of the day he was family, whether he had a past with her or not, which he did.
The words "danger" was the number one thing that came to mind because communication was not going to be by only a phone and their voice exchanging words, she would see him in person. She wrote down the location, and with an "Ok, I'll be there," she ended the phone call.
She packed a small suitcase with everything she was going to need. She was excited to get to know Tokyo. New territory that she was ready to place her feet in, the language was not a problem for her. Not only 'beautiful' was a word that described Mia Toretto, the girl knew different languages, for some reason she had a feeling she would need it for the future, and she wasn't wrong.
After looking the time zone in Japan, she took her laptop and booked a ticket to Tokyo, and left the Toretto house straight to the airport. She sat there until it was time to get on the plane. First, she was going to get to know the city as quiet as possible before meeting Brian.
