Whether this just turned into the luckiest day of their lives or what they were doing was actually a smart idea, Dom didn't know. But he did know that he was in disbelief the police didn't see the boat sooner than they did. For once in the night, he actually felt a sense of freedom. Of course, it couldn't be that easy. Eventually the coast guard had the boat in their sights. If they could reach the shore quick enough, maybe they could hop out before the coast guard would see them on the boat. Unfortunately, that meant they couldn't try to start the engine on the thing. Dom did his best to maintain a balance of quick but forceful strokes on the paddle, been awhile since he'd done anything like this.
Relatively quickly, the boat hit the shore and rocked steadily with the waves, hopefully giving it the look that it just drifted out against the shore.

After what seems an eternal way to the shore that was heavily grinding on Brian's nerves because the shivers and pain from the loss of skin on big parts of his arm and side was getting too much. A few times he was on the verge of getting sick but managed to push down the feeling each time.
It was almost a miracle that the small boat hadn't been detected by the coast guard, who was too busy following another larger vessel and searching the water.
When the boat finally stopped rocking and reached solid ground it took Brian a moment to push himself up. His cell phone had been distroyed by the water so they had no other option but sneak away.
A row of parked trucks over the necessary shadow where they could rest after pushing the boat back into the bay. Brian slid down to the ground. Icy water was dripping from the bottom of his torn pants and creating a puddle all around him, Mia and Dom. "Do your phones work?" He wondered. "Or do we really have to walk home?" His lips had turned blue from the long time in the water and on the boat.
Carefully he cast a glance around the corner in the direction of the cops, who seemed to have given up the search and handed it over to the coast guards. "Coast is clear. Let's go."

It felt wonderful when she was out of that boat and standing on the ground only for a few seconds before she sat down too moving her soaking wet hair over her shoulder. There was no need for her to pull out her cell phone out of her pocket because it wasn´t working either.
She shook her head. “No,” They were a long way from home, it could take them a while before they reach the house, which sucked too because the cops got so close to them, she was more than sure they got a glimpse at the charger plates and were waiting for them outside her house.
Mia took a quick look at the parked trucks. Those trucks seemed their only way out at the moment.

Dom jumped out once he oversaw Mia and Brian jump off, especially Brian, the guy must've been in inch from giving in completely the way he looked. He shook the top of his shirt in an attempt to shake off any of the icy water, which was still harshly cold with the breeze in the air.
Pulling out his cell phone, it gave a quick flicker of light and then died off completely. "It's gone." He said with a little frustration in his voice. The sense of freedom was great, but there was a long road ahead of them. He knew Cole was waiting for his call...if the kid obeyed directions, anyway. If only they had a phone, damnit.
Was the Toretto home even an option? Dom had to admit that he wouldn't feel completely invulnerable there, cops had pretty clever ways of tracking you down these days. Dom took a look around, he was completely unfamiliar with this area, and transportation options were limited besides a handful of commercial trucks. Those were a role of the dice though that the cops wouldn't see them drive off. The coast guard wasn't terribly far away.
"I say we walk 'till we're out of sight from those guys." He nodded at the authorities still in the water. "How much more do you got, Brian?" His only real concern at this point was the ex-cop.

With a nod Brian agreed to Dom's idea. By foot was their best option. Even though he felt like he was going nowhere fast he state. "I'll manage. It's not like we have another option. We just need to find a phone or a cab fast."
Making sure the coast was clear he stepped out of the shadow of the trucks and quickly limped across the open space towards the row of buildings on the other side of the street. Swimming had been hard but the water had at least numbed his aches and pains. On a paved surface it was a whole different ballgame. Brian's knee that had taken the full impact of the jump onto the container was acting up and made him slow down and jump and hobble. Yet they managed to make it to where the cops couldn't see them.
Brian knew he had to tough it out or go to prison. Since option B wasn't acceptable he grit his teeth and ran as far as he feet would carry him. Away from the dock area to the nearest block of houses and roads where they finally spotted a 7/11 from where they could make a call. Just to be on the safe side and not give away their trouble Brian stayed outside. "Call Cole, if he doesn't pick up try Jack and then a cab." he huffed sitting down on a box for crushed ice outside.

She followed Brian closely afraid he was going to just give up and faint from the pain or the cold. At one point they had to jog away, his knee was definitely giving him a hell of a hard time but it wasn´t long before they spotted a 7/11 and Brian exchange some words with Dom.
“Cole better pick up his phone,” Mia sighed and sat down next to Brian waiting for Dom to come out. The cold wasn´t as harsh to her, the small amount of adrenaline when they had to run and the worry of Brian remove the cold feeling even though her clothes were still soaking wet. She wished Cole picked up the phone, she wished to be back home.
Jack was still in danger and injured, it looked like the O’Connor’s were destined to be punished every time something went wrong but they were brothers, they´d help each other no matter what, she understood that, she had a brother and tried to be the voice of reason when she was in her early 20´s just like Brian tried to be with Jack.

A little more fortune came their way as they found a gas station not too ridiculously far from the shore. Hopefully the desk clerk hadn't been listening to a police radio or anything. Hell, Dom wouldn't have been surprised if they were on the news by now. Seeing Mia take a seat next to Brian, he took it on himself to ask the clerk if he could use their phone as he entered. The clerk gave the soaking wet big guy a curious look but then nodded and pulled the phone up to the counter top. Dom punched in the teen's number and prayed he was still patiently waiting for his call.

It wasn't a pretty sight, but by some grace of the getaway gods Cole had managed to shake those too mafia-operated BMW's. Maybe it was in rather violent fashion, but he was free...he thought. Quiet frankly, he was in disbelief the Corvette was still driving decently. It must've had 50 bullet holes in it and yet she was still purring away. It just looked like it had been target practice for a military training regime. He was about ready to make another call to Brian or Dom, when his cell finally went off. The number was foreign, but he could only hope it was an answer to his questions. "Hello?" He answered with a little shakiness. The other end was Dom, who very concisely told him they needed a pick up and where their location was. "Okayyy, uhh, well I've got a banged up Jack in the passenger seat of a two-seater Corvette that's just been shot to hell by Dieseli's goons." Luckily, Cole's recently purchased house wasn't that far out of the way from where he was to the 7/11. He'd have to stop by and pick up a different car, not to mention he didn't need to be seen driving around in this thing. "It might take some time, but I'll be there as soon as I can." He could tell Dom was frustrated on the other end, but it was the best he could do.

Dom frowned as he hung up the phone and handed it back to the clerk. Sounded like Cole had a battle of his own, great. He walked back outside to Brian and his sister and delivered the news. "Guess Cole had some issues himself. He needs to get another car before he can pick us up. Mob is all over his ass." Dom shook his head and leaned against the wall of the building. "He's got Jack too." He added.

Brian closed his eyes just for one brief moment but he felt Mia sit down next to him, which he thought was a nice gesture. Feeling her so close gave him strength. After everything that had just happened he felt very close to the woman he once loved again. Silently he leaned his shoulder against hers and hoped she wouldn't move away while they waited for Dom to make the call.
It didn't take very long until her brother returned and announced that Cole would come but had to get a different car first. The second part about 'having Jack' provided instant relief for Brian, who had feared that his brother might be either in prison or at the morgue right now. "Oh thank you, Cole." He muttered more or less to himself. "I was thinking the worst."
For a moment he stared ahead but then said. "We might be better off finding out way to a motel if he's got Dieselis goons on his ass."
Everybody but him seemed to be okay to walk some more aside from wet clothes. "Let's call a cab." He suggested because he was ready to fall over. waiting for another half an hour or more would just be self torture, especially with cops only a few blocks away.

She didn´t move when he leaned on her. It surprised her how comfortable she felt around him, how in a matter of days became so damn close, and with the surprise came a small amount of fear. She had many thoughts running through her head that she just took a moment to move them aside, to not have those thoughts bring stress not when she was worried for Brian and the cops. “Hang in there,” she said to him as she waited for Dom to come out, feeling antsy not knowing how Cole and Jack were.
Seconds later her brother walked out and gave them the good news of Cole and Jack being alive, but the part of them being chased by Diseli´s people made her stomach turn. There was no way in hell he could drive from where he was to save them plus a place to rest was something she was looking forward to, they were all tired and needed to rest but the worst was Brian. “Yeah, call a cab and let´s go home,”

Dom thought for a few moments before putting in his own two cents. Home was risky, as there was a decent chance police were aware of it. A motel was also risky, though maybe less so. Nonetheless, bringing in Brian in his condition would spark the curiosity of a motel. There really were not many options. "Almost anywhere we go cops could be waiting or tipped off." He finally said. He thought for another second, contemplating whether this was a good idea or not. At least with this option there should be more medical options "I think we get a cab to Cole's house." Obviously if the guy had no qualms about stopping by there, then he must've been confident it was safe...hopefully he was that smart.

Whatever Dom suggested would have been fine with Brian at this stage. He wasn't up for much more waiting or running around. Cole's place didn't seem very safe, expecially now that Dieselis men were after him. Then again if Cole had them on him like flies on a pile they wouldn't go to his house so Brian reluctantly agrees. "Whatever, bro. Just hurry up, okay?"
When Dom pushed the glass door back open and went inside to call a cab, Brian looked back at Mia. He searched for the right words because he really wanted to know how she got his kids but didn't have the energy to ask. Another day maybe. "Thanks for keeping them save." He simply muttered because he assumed that that's what she had done.
Shaking his head with a smile that didn't reach the eyes he added. "My names not even been cleared of the last crimes and I'm already piling on new ones. And now I dragged you in it,too." Her dark eyes looked so understanding but he didn't bare to stand that look anymore, so Brian averted his gaze. "Sorry."
Ten minutes later a cab arrived. The Indian driver gave them a weary look but didn't say much. After they climbed in and the cab was in motion they saw a police car coming towards them and had to force themselves not to duck under the seats.
Coles home was on a dark quiet street , whcih was completely deserted at 4 am. "Hope you know where the spare keys are." Brian pressed out barely able to stand by himself anymore. All he wanted was a comfy bed now.

When Dom went back inside the small store to call a cab Brian took the time to thank her about keeping his twins safe. She offered him a small smile and nodded at his words, the way he said it, he sound like he wanted to say more to her, but he was tired… they will have a lots of time to talk.
It was her time to lean on him as he apologized to her. “Don´t be,” they waited a few more minutes and they finally got inside the cab as it started to drive away from the 7/11, away from the cops that is if they were cops still searching by the dock area where they once were.
The cab seemed it was never going to stop until it stopped outside of Cole´s house. ´Sleep!´ that´s what her body was demanding at the moment, she pushed herself out of the cab, the neighborhood was so damn quiet and it was so dark, not single light around them.

Dom made two calls, one to a cab, and one to Cole, asking for his address. After squaring away both ends, he rejoined the group rather quickly as the clerk was clearly getting annoyed with him. Must've been a tough business day.
Cole's home was a little nicer than Dom would've expected, guess the mob paid well. Regardless of luxury or no luxury though, he was just glad that they were out of the grasp of authorities, and that maybe now they could get some shut eye. Dom fished around the area that Cole told him the spare key was, and finally found it. With it he opened the door and stepped his way into the tiled floor, leading in the others. It was completely dark until he found a light switch that lit up a stairway that probably led to the living room, and hopefully bedrooms.

*(Continued from On The Road II)* This definitely made up for the last week that he slacked out on going to the gym. Jack's weight finally became overwhelming for Cole, and so he had to take occasional breaks that would consist of rubbing his shoulder, trying to wake Jack up, making sure he was still alive, and then dragging him a few more yards. It was probably a really comical sight from an outside perspective. From Cole's perspective though, it was all sweat, blood, and tears. Almost literally. Finally, he got to what he called the porch of the house. There were hardly any sounds in the air besides the steady breeze, and none of the house lights were on, so it was a pretty ideal camping spot for the night. He knew he saw the use of this location when he bought it, even if it did take it's toll on the bank account. Getting inside was a bit of an ordeal, and while he was walking through the doorway, he accidently hit Jack's head on the door frame. Once inside, he was a little startled to find the stairway light on, but then remembered Dom's call. Maybe there were here already? "Anybody here?" He called up the stairway. Partially because he wanted to make sure that it was them, and partially because he needed help getting Jack's limp figure up the stairs

The place that Cole called home had Brian do a double take. He could not believe that a guy much younger than him would own a crib like that. That's what you got for racing for the mob. Now wonder Cole refused to listen to Brian's warnings if a life style like this was the reward for taking such high risks. Leaning his good side heavily against the wall next to the door he waited for Dom to search the key and then entered the luxury home. Inside it was just as nice as on the outside. Cole had kept the furniture to a minimum but what was there was great quality. Brian more or less dragged himself inside and looked around to find a good spot to crash. The black leather sofa seemed just right. Unfortunately he had to get rid of his torn, blood soaked wet clothes first. "Where's the bathroom?" He wondered while he stumbled around looking for it. When he flicked the switch of some lights at the end of the house on he was greeted by an all marble bathroom with dozens of overhead halogens and an huge corner tub. Despite the situation he had to stand and admire it for a moment before he started peeling off his clothes that were partly melted into his skin from sliding across the tarmac. Carefully he pulled his pants down but couldn't help to wince. Half way down he stopped and sat down on the closed toilet to give himself a moment. Bending over to pull it off completely was too hard so he finally let his pride go and hollered. "Mia, could you help me?" Despite everything that had happened between them he still preferred Mia seeing him in his underwear to Dom. The whole time he kept thinking about Cole and Jack though. Would they come to the house as well. Would a squadron of mobsters follow them or maybe cops? The tension kept him on edge. "Mia?" OOC: I figured the three would arrive at least half an hour before Cole and Jack. Hope that's not your real life home, Cole! OO)

Once they stepped inside Cole´s home she felt safe and ready to hit bed and sleep for hours but instead decided to walk around the first floor, kitchen and living room was what caught her attention. She was taking her time taking into detail everything around that first floor. She didn´t even know where Dom or Brian went.
She was about to start walking upstairs to check out each room but had to stop when she heard Brian. Mia followed his voice, turning the knob of the door she walked in. “Ouch,” was the first word that came out of her lips as she saw the damage of him flying off the roof of the Charger.
He had no shirt and his ribcage was decorated with a few bruises. His left shoulder wasn´t so bad, a first degree road rash type of injury with no broken skin, it looked like a bad sun burn but from his leg down to his ankle he had some broken skin. She removed his pants slowly as she moved where the sink was taking a quick look under the cabinet, pulling out some distilled water to clean the wounds from his shoulder and leg, she searched a little bit more taking out an ointment and some gauze.
“Your shoulder doesn´t look that bad, but your leg is a whole different story. I´ll have to clean that,” pointing to his leg. She covered her mouth as she yawn and wash her hands before she had to start.

Just when Brian thought he'd have to deal with the problem by himself Mia opened the door. Brian was already a little light headed and thnakful for her steady hand. The night had been long and eventful starting from the drive to Mexico and the trip on the ship back to the fight with the police and their long swim in the ocean. The last bit of strength was fading fast when he looked up at her and mumbled. "Thank you."
He herad her say ouch and nodded in agreement.
Once the shirt was off he took a look at his shoulder and was happy to see that there was only a bit of road rash. Peeling the pants off the bottom of his leg however was really painful and had the ex-cop wince and flinch a few times/ "Wait, wait...no, just do it." He probably confused the hell out of her before he saw his blue knee and bloody mess below his knee. "That looks disgusting." Brian knew that the road rash would burn like a bitch for a few days but wasn't anything serious. His knee however had taken the whole impact of the edge of the container.
Putting his head in his hands he patiently endured the wrapping up and then sighed. "Thank you." For a moment he reached for her hand before she could walk away again and held it. "I mean it." A faint smile was playing on his lips. "You kept my kids save when I couldn't. You made sure I'm getting away...you and Dom. I don't know what I'd do without you." Some old feelings that reached far beyond gratefulness hit him. Feelings that he didn't know what to do with.

Dom was sitting on the couch in his own thoughts, half waiting for Brian and now Mia to come back out and half waiting for Cole to show up...with Jack, presumably. Minutes passed, and Dom grew a little concerned. It shouldn't be taking him this long. Of course, getting chased by the mafia had it's complications, hopefully those complications didn't turn fatal.
When he heard the door open downstairs, he rose from the couch and heard the voice he was expecting to. Without saying a word he went down and met Cole, who was sagging under the weight of a slumped over Jack. "Is he alive?" Dom got straight to the point. Seeing Cole struggle with the O'Conner, Dom stepped over and took Jack upon himself, then carried him up the stairs. "Jack's here, guys." He called over to the bathroom. The guy needed Mia's attention, now.
